Grant Street Inn - Bloomington - Building
9.5 Excellent (219 reviews)
Overview Reviews
A stay at Grant Street Inn places you in the heart of Bloomington, within a 10-minute walk of Indiana University Bloomington and Monroe County Courthouse. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk. Free self parking is available onsite.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The location is perfect in relation to nightlife in Bloomington. The inn itself was quite lovely. Did not get to try the free breakfast, but friends who were also staying at the inn mentioned it was phenomenal. Instead of the typical breakfast bar fare, there were actual chefs who made dishes with some creative flare. Staff was quite friendly and having a 24hr reception was a plus.
Cons: I reserved a bedroom with a queen bed, but it was definitely a full-size bed. Friends who were staying in another room also stated that it was the same for them. Would recommend upgrading to a room with a king since I think it's only 10-20 more?

7.7 Good
Pros: Clean rooms, modern, friendly staff, close to campus
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location and ease of check-in.
Cons: Pool was extremely small, no reason to have to pay for parking, and breakfast line was really long.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: The two concierges we had during our stay, one I definitely know was a manager, were professional, helpful, and friendly. The hotel (and our room) was clean, modern, and in a prime location. I loved the photos hanging up around the hotel that depict scenes of campus. It definitely contributed to my positive experience in coming back to my alma mater for a visit. My friends and I all enjoyed our stay, and all agreed that we would choose to stay here again in the future.
Cons: I didn't care for the $7 parking fee. The breakfast wasn't as great as I had expected, judging from what I had read before our stay. The bread was stale, and there weren't as many food options as I thought there would be. There were only 2 or 3 drink options for breakfast. I was surprised that grape and apple juice were not available.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was not ready when we arrived, but very quick and kind actions made us very happy. Also, had power outage earlier in the day so TV's were not working in rooms for NCAA Final Four games. However, staff was extremely generous and kind.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Clean modern
Cons: Parking is horrible
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Can't say enough about how great all staff were. Highly recommend this hotel if you're in Bloomington
9.7 Excellent
Pros: The room was spacious and laid out nicely. One thing that especially stood out for some reason was the attached reading lamps on each side of each bed. Like the sliding barn style doors on the bathroom. Enjoyed its downtown location to be close to all that Downtown Bloomington has to offer and also Indiana University. The included breakfast was good too with tasty options to enjoy. Plus right across the street was a great ice cream place for a late night snack at Bub's Burgers and Ice Cream restaurant.
Cons: Did not like the opaque glass on the sliding bathroom doors as though it is was a translucent glass it didn't provide true privacy in the bathroom. Other than this everything was perfect. However, I learned I could have paid less by booking directly with the hotel versus using Kayak/Expedia.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms and facilities were clean and inviting. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great. It is a great location with several options for food.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was so nice and friendly! The hotel was beautiful and clean! The bartender Russ ran the whole bar and food all night! What a fun time!
Cons: The drinks were a little pricey, but delicious
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The food service was outstanding, real fresh fruit, watermelon, strawberries, and many other choices. The service was delightful.
Cons: Noise on street side
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel has a friendly staff at the front desk. The lobby is open and has nice seating to enjoy coffee or a drink at their bar. They have a small market for snacks and drinks also.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Location, property, new hotel
Cons: Very limited fitness room

10.0 Excellent
Pros: I booked this hotel because of the high guest rating on TripAdvisor. I was rather curious as to what a 9.6 rating is. I typically book the highest rated hotel rooms within my means when I travel, but never I have booked a 9.6 before. My expectations were hight, and they have been met and exceeded. It is a very nice and lovely old house - updated with awesome amenities, such as modern bathrooms and remote controlled fireplace (not every room has it but mine did), great location in a charming town, our guest room was amazing. Breakfast was excellent, choices for every taste. Amazing stay - will definitely be back!

Not enough choices for breakfast - I have gluten intolerance.

Pros: The hotel was much better than I had expected. Quiet area, but near major highway access. Well designed room with adequate electrical outlets. Although no in house dining, several good restaurants in walking distance. Wide selection of breakfast food.
Cons: I wish the bathroom had a second sink. In all fairness the kitchen area did have a large sink. A second mirror would have been very useful for two people trying to get ready at the same time.

Pros: Although you may initially liken the exterior of the Economy Inn to that of the Bates Motel, do not be fooled, this place has a clean, quite interior. I stayed here with a few friends when we visited Bloomington for a basketball game and was pleasantly surprised. The room was quite clean and although the bed was nowhere near as comfortable as my own, I was able to fall asleep quickly after having some delicious Avers pizza delivered. We will surely visit this little gem again!
Cons: The one complaint I have is in regards to the location, it is a little further south than I would have liked but it's nothing a short car ride can't handle!
