When we arrived at the hotel we didnt feel welcome at all told our room was 5 and were left to find it for ourselves. Breakfast was until 9.30 and as we were on holiday we went down at 9.15 on the sunday morning we were greeted with smiles however on the monday and tuesday we were treated like a hassle and we both thought the waitress was extremely rude as a waitress myself i thought her behavior towards was extremely unprofresional. I would definatly not stay at this hotel again and would not recommend it. The room was small and cold and the bathroom small we a lot of dampness and mould. All in all a very unpleasant stay.
the breakfast room was beautifuly decorated, great choice of breakfast items and staff were friendly and all in uniform. attention to small detail. the ensuite bathroom was small and not as modern as the main room.
Nice location, clean facilities, good breakfast Breakfast service a bit slow
Good location, generally friendly staff, nice lounge downstairs. Our bed could have been more comfortable. Felt a bit rushed at breakfast. There was some traffic noise but I took earplugs as had read the reviews.
Well-presented, room clean and quiet, helpful staff, excellent breakfast with lots of choice, very fresh. Your booking system that gave me the impression that I had paid up front on making my booking and led to a bit of a misunderstandng with the hotel owner, who was very nice about it and said it's not the first time this has happened.
Central and easy to find Clean and well presented Friendly and welcoming I only booked a single non en suite room and the room was a little small but perfectly functional for one night and fair value.
Good breakfast and efficient freindly service
Friendly and helpful staff. Quite modern rooms. Quiet. Bathroom too dark when sun went in as only one light.
a nice and lovely B&B,great room with a wonderful Breakfast None
Very friendly and helpful Bathroom could have been better
We loved the room which had a beautiful sea view for which we were not charged extra for.
Beautfiul sea view room (No 11) comfortable and clean. Good breakfast. Excellent location. No
Comfortable, quiet, small
location, clean and tidy I suffer with asthma and had to climb to the top of the stairs, three flights
location, meals A few fixtures in the room were falling off
location and restaurant
Food and service was very good. Room was clean and fresh
Great location, lovely sea view. Friendly staff and excellent breakfast.
view out of the room and the breaksfast
The very friendly and helpful owners. The excellent breakfast.
All in Westcott was very good, staff and owners was very friendly.
friendlyhosts, very clean and comfortable
friendliness of staff, quality and cleanliness of rooms, facititlies generally
Very feindly People
The breakfasts were really good. The staff were really friendly. We had a very nice room with a view of the sea which we did not expect The en-suite bathroom needed updating.
the breakfast, staff were very friendly no
The welcome was really friendly, I was shown to the room and given plenty of helpful information. The parking spaces for cars were very limited, but staff and guests were accommodating of one another's needs when moving vehicles around.
Very nice clean welcoming hotel with friendly staff. Room was very nice and clean and breakfast was excellent. Nothing.
The rooms were clean and comfortable, the owners and staff went out of their way to make us welcome, and the breakfast was excellent. The hotel is very convenient for both Falmouth town and the beach. There is off-street parking, but access is somewhat difficult.
Friendly staff, excellent service, good standard of accomodation.
The owner of the hotel was very friendly and very helpful, pointing us in the right direction. The service we recieved was very good; cleanliness, food and responses to our queeries and questions. I would recommend this hotel to others.
Sue (proprietor) could not have been more helpful and considerate - made us feel very welcome and always had time to talk.
Veggie breakfast was excellent
Nice room, very friendly staff, very good breakfast, good tips for our holidays. We will definitely go again if we go to Cornwall.
As a family of 4 we were made to feel very welcome. Although situated on a main road, this did not have a detrimental effect. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble.
Clean, friendly Rooms a bit small
Really lovely staff who were helpful & welcoming
Level of service
poached eggs at breakfast ther was not a spare synthetic pillow in room.
It is breathtakingly overpriced, the service is abysmal and the food inedible
The lounge looking out to sea. It was very relaxing, the staff were excellent with my elderly mother and her dementia. The food is good value for money. The only thing was the staff questioned me when i took my mother up to my room while i changed for dinner. They wanted to confirm i was the only one staying in the room and was not sneaking my elderly mother in with me, heavens forbid.
Excellent service. Room was clean, maybe air conditioned in the future as the room was very warm, even though it was wet & chilly outside! Food was also very good. Would stay there again.
To be out. Amateurism. Poorly trained staff. Mediocre cleanliness.
A pleasant welcome from the concierge Attentive staff in the restaurant. Pleasant to have a pianist during dinner The view from my room. overlooking the service area
The location of the hotel was excellent, near the town and near the sea. The rooms, public areas and facilities at the hotel were first class. Staff were excellent.
polite, friendly staff, spotless accommodation. would like hairdryer in room.
All the staff were very welcoming. our rooms were comfortable. the location is excellent. We had planned to have dinner in the hotel but discovered on arrival that there is a jacket and tie dress code for men. I had checked on the hotel web site before our trip and didn't see any mention of this. it would be useful to include in your information. also we had planned to use the pool on sunday morning but it was closed for maintenance. if we had known we would have swum the night before. a little disappointing.
The room was clean & the bed was comfortable. There was a full english breakfast. The bathroom was on a shared corridor and not en suite. The beds were twin (perhaps because no doubles were available on the website when I booked). The decor was simple but unimaginative. The service was efficient but not warm and welcoming.
It was clean comfortable in easy reach of the shops and beach,Julie was lovely breakfast was fab .
the staff were friendly and everything was fine, breakfast was lovely
Great location Rooms not particularly well appointed & slight feeling of stingeyness about facilities.
lovely owners , clean & comfortable , great breakfast
The owners were lovely people, made us very welcome, The bed
The friendly atmosphere, helpful staff. Good food and plenty of choice. Very clean and comfortable. A stones throw from the beach.
Family run guest house with good acess to sandy beach, to the town and a good place for touring the area. Good clean airy room and decent breakfast. Parking is available but a little congested still better than none!
Very clean, very friendly people and great location. Will stay again in Summer 2008. Nothing - No complaints :o)
Room was very clean and comfy if a bit small, close to beach and not far from town. Tea / Coffee facilities in room excellent. Nice croissants. Parking was a challenge, washbasin in room rathre than bathroom was a bit odd, cooked breakfast wasn't amazing, you could hear toilet flushes in other rooms at night
Very pleasent hotel and staff None
Good value for money - nice room with 4-poster bed and harbour view
Rooms very spacious. Management very accommodating.
Excellent staff, good breakfast, large clean room, bathroom with bath and not just shower, plenty of hot water! Pillows rather too firm
Room was good, top floor room with excellant veiw, good breakfast. Nothing to complain about but it would have helped if it was made clear that whist card no is taken on booking, payment is to be made direct to hotel ( nearly didn't pay)
The rooms were of good size with every facility we needed i.e drinks equipment, TV (flat screen) free WIFI, excellent en-suit. Very clean in all areas. Breakfast was great providing any combination you wanted and cooked fresh. The owner was lovely, very friendly and offered us advice on the area which was very helpful. Good value. I can not fault Melvill House.
The room was really airey and light very spacious Nothing to report
The friendly professional manner of the landlady was most welcoming after a 7 hour drive down. I was surprised at how nice and comfortable the facilities were and felt it was a very good bargain. Not applicable.
The rooms were very plush and extremely clean....the owners lovely and very accomodating people
Warm & Friendly. Very good service, comfortable and welcoming
I stayed in a Garden Room and it was lovely
warm welcome, perfect service, excellent location - one of the top locations in the south/west of england
The helpfulness of the staff and the quietness of the room The locations of the car parks
The staff were very helpful. Got a big size room which accomodated 2 adults and 2 children easily. The hotel was clean. The hot and cold breakfast was excellent. Overall it was an excellent stay for us.
Very clean & pleasent hotel with excellent facilities, 1st class food and upgrade to superior room was most welcome.
Helpful staff Bigger bed
excellent service from all staff We felt the hotel could do with a refurb. It was to far away from the main town
overnight stay only - room was clean, comfortable. Evening meal menu rather limited with extras.
Attractive grounds, comfortable room, friendly staff, good food The position with regard to the town
The hotel complex was very relaxing with plenty of space both inside and out to add to the enjoyment of the holiday. The staff were pleasant at all times and there was always a smile or a word.
Great location, very clean, staff very helpful, off street parking, easy to find We had a twin room but it wasnt en-suite, our bathroom was across the corridor. This wasnt made clear on the booking - very disappointed. All the booking said was private toilet and shower - so I naturally presumed that it meant en suite.
Very good and clean hotel staff and food also excellent Outside of building in process of being painted so doesn't look as good as the photo of it
convenience,parking and service
very convenient location in falmouth. staff were very friendly and helpful the heating was off for too long. shower temperature was not easily adjustable
very organised, friendly and fantastic breakfast Originally slightly inflexible in terms of times of checking in.
Perfectly friendly and amenable owners. Beuatifully clean, nicely up to date, free wi-fi, quiet - just what I needed.
very friendly service, comfortable guest house, good food, informative of places to visit and best value of places to eat. Absolutely nothing.
how helpfull the staff were and they made you fill very welcome and ive booked again for a trip in december n/a
Clean, cotton sheets and firm bed. Generous breakfast. Welcoming and accommodating hosts.
I was unable to book a double bed on line and had to book twin beds.
There on business, no time to use facilities
nice rooms, friendly staff and able to come and go with no restrictions on time
Very nice owners and very clean. Handy for town and rail station.and sea front Could have done with mushrooms and hash browns with breakfast other wise breakfast was fine
The welcome was good, ease of access into Falmouth and to the seafront was great
Friendly Staff No evening meal unless booked in advance.
we went to a wedding at pendennis castle
Staff very friendly, smallish room but bright, clean and comfortable, advertised facilities all present and correct (apart from the 'seven TV channels' which turned out, as might have been predicted, to be four)
The room I booked was a single room, and was spotlessly clean, well cared for, and for its size well equipped. At £45/night it is hard to complain about anything, but I would say that the room was miniature, and the decor somewhat 80s. This was compensated for in the price, however, and as stated the whole hotel seemed loved and cared for.
A flying visit from myself , staff very friendly and helpful, had a pleasant stay
This hotel is excellent and lived up the reviews. The staff were very freindly, the place was spotlessly clean, great location and fantastic value for money.
We were well looked after by the owner. We would have liked to have more choices for breakfast
Rosemary was extremely helpful....and very welcoming. our room was spacious and comfortable. The hotel is in a perfect location for the Castle and beach.
View over harbour and excellent facilities & food. No blind in shower room which was embarrassing since window faced the road particularly at night.
Quiet, nice owners, good breakfast, good location our bathroom / shower was way too small
Hotel owner not at all flexible with request for early breakfast. Decor apalling and the hotel was not at all welcoming or accomodating.
The very friendly and considerate service, breakfast tailored to your needs and the time was flexible. Definately a place to recomend and return to.
A warm welcome given by the hosts. Room very clean and food enjoyable. Hosts most helpful which made for an enjoyable stay.
Rosemary was absolutely lovely, very caring and helpful and gave lots of tips of things to see and do. The room was very cosy and had a beautiful view.
Welcome was excellent and warm, breakfast was of a very high standard and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
Very friendly family, we were made very welcome and looked after well.
Polite staff / calm surroundings Na
We were instantly upgraded as had requested a twin room and had been given a double. slightly shabby and felt it caters for the older age group...walked into room full of bingo!!!
Room neede air conditioning as was vey hot for the baby.
The room was surprisingly well furnished and neat and tidy
Staff polite and helpful, Good seaview from our room
Very comfortable, staff most anxious to please. Excellent restaurant with beautifully prepared and presented food. Rooms a little jaded but considering the age of the building they were very clean and comfortable. we would certainly return for an out of season break. The shower in the bathroom.
very pleasant hotel with very pleasant and helpful staff, friendly, service very good.
Good food, very friendly staff
Swimming in the pool, eating at the restaurant
Liesure facilities Stairs
Handy location near the beach
The hotel was very welcoming. Service was very good. Breakfast was exceptional. Walking distance to beach and to local town. Nothing
very helpful and friendly staff
In an excellent location for the beach and the town centre, we could walk to either in a few minutes. Also a few minutes walk to the Princess Pavillion which was the venue we were heading for on the Saturday. Very quiet at night -did not hear any traffic! Excellent breakfast.
It was a great place to stay for visiting the Tall Ships, in Falmouth 10 - 13th Sept 2008. Very good place for visiting most of Cornwall No
Convenient position for beaches, coastal path/walks and town centre Low shower pressure
The staff were brand new but very warm and welcoming. Any problems ironed out quickly.
The location is very good. The service at breakfast was very poor. We waited over an hour for breakfast to be served. However the food was very good.
very satisfied with everything no
nice and quiet
Quiet, friendly and relsxing. Very helpful in Reception. Enjoyable and good range of menu plus excellent service.
Looked to be very pleasant hotel and grounds, but my very short stay (late arrival and neccessarily early departure) means it's difficult to provide a fair review. Staff were friendly and helpful, even on arrival despite the late hour. bathroom facilities a bit lacking- no shampoo/conditioner was a bit surprising.
We found the location excellent, the staff friendly and helpful. We would like to return in Springtime when the garden would be at its best. and possibly in Summer
The hotel building and surrounding garden are very beautiful, old and atmospheric. As if you are in a bbc period drama. The food was very good. The staff was welcoming and helpful. The room was cosy, clean, the beds were comfortable. It was very quiet there. It isn't walking distance from Falmouth. Although quite a short ride by car, but it would be impossible to stay there without a car. It may not necessarily be a bad point. It depends... There was a couple of spiders in our room, and the bath was leaking (I drew the bath curtain tight before taking shower, as it was advised in the notice, but the floor still became wet. (Room 2, if the administration is interested.) By the way we haven't mentioned it to them.
Good service given by all staff Bed was a bit too hard for my liking
Although it was early season and only one other couple were guests the Hotel did have a pleasant atmosphere. landlord was friendly, staff were efficient, food was exceptional. As a business traveller I had problems with signals for phone and internet connections.
The location, was stunning, although could have been sign posted better The breakfast time needs to be extended to a little earlier. Also the the breakfast whilst nice, there was no room for flexibility, it was either you have this on the cooked or nothing, out of 4 or us who stayed none had the cooked breakfast as they could not accommodate our needs which were not complicated for example, I just wanted beans on toast with mushrooms, I couldn't have this as they didn't do beans. The breakfast was £12.50 so it was the dearest cereal I have had. I also had to go out and buy my 15 year old son a pair of trousers, as jeans were not acceptable in the restaurant, where I can understand that my son's jeans were smart and he was wearing a shirt not t shirt too, It was a little stuffy and the menu was disappointing
The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the food was top notch - dinner and breakfast. Extremely good value for money.
View from dining room and helpful staff
Very good location and pretty good restaurant. Bit basic round the edges especially the corridors.
The Location was superb,& the Staff & food were excellent The Traffic noise from the back room,& the window rattled all night with the wind.
Staff were very keen to welcome me and very helpful. The breakfast was excellent and cooked perfectly
Location, service and history
A comfortable and nicely positioned hotel. Good bedrooms The service in the restuarant for dinner on the 7th Dec 2007 was poor and could only be described as amateur. The bar although nearly empty was no better. Waitress staff need proper training for a 4 star hotel service. Breakfast service was fine - older more mature experienced staff.
freindly staff . they were helpfull and polite
I particularly liked the view over the water from my room and from the Restaurant No
The view of the sun coming up over the water while enjoying an excellent breakfast. The easy friendliness of the staff.
Next to beach - pleasant "old fashion" hotel. Single room unfortunately you feel as though you are in a drum when the person next door has a shower - extremely noisy.
Great location next to the beach & walking distance from the town centre. Rooms a little tired, but comfortable & no air con (could be a problem in the summer).
Friendly staff, quiet location (in January) Good base for other attractions. Restaurant meal was high quality and good value.
Great seaside views, free wifi, indoor gym, excellent restarant food Loved the place definitely will return
Location and breakfast I have been staying at this hotel for over 10 years and from what I can see the rooms have not been updated at all in that time. They are tired, old fashioned and our twin had room for 2 beds right next to each other and nothing more. The TV was very old with just a few channels and the whole feel of the place was that it deperately needed money spent on it to bring it into the 21st century.
Staff, lounge & bar, food Our room very tired looking in need of a revamp which was so disappointing and not like the rest of the hotel
The breakfast was good. Its very a very dated hotel.
Made a mistake as normally stay at the Falmouth beach. This hotel was fine a bit dated and some of the other guests a bit rough around the edges
The view from the room and the location was good for bioth the town and the beaches The room was quite small and the lift very slow.
Wonderful hospitality from the first moment, friendly, welcoming and relaxed hosts who could not be more willing to make our stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible. From printing out suggested itineries for sightseeing, to recommending surrounding restaurants. The breakfasts were wonderful. Both Clive and Dave take no shortcuts in their dedication to give guests a memorable stay in their premises.
Everything! Great location, extremely helpful staff, excellent breakfast and great value for money. Will go again. Nothing.
The friendleness of the proprieters and the accomodation. NO
the lovely staff!
Everything you required was there for you. As we only stayed the one night, it was hard to find fault with anything.
David and Clive were wonderful hosts; full of helpfulness and warmth. Lovely cuppa when I arrived and lovely fruit for the guests as and when wanted. Lovely breakfasts. nothing particularly
clean , comfy bed . nice towels dressing gowns toiletries. Great breakfast. Good range of tea in room and at breakfast. Helpful staff
wonderful breakfasts, excellent hospitality, large clean rooms, great location. an enjoyable place to stay. shower was a little small, wi fi was not yet working
excellent breakfast, but we were not asked if we would like more toast. bedroom number five should not be sold as adouble. left hand side of bed approx. 700mm under dormer cheek and hazardous.
