location very limited menu choice of 4 items on the Monday choice of only 2 items on the Wednesday Not good enough for fine dining@£30 per head
The food was outstanding as was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. The mood was relaxed and cared for. A most enjoyable break. The bathroom was not up to the excellent standard of everything else. The shower did not work very well and the flow of water was poor.
Quiet and peacefull Dinner plates were not hot at times
The hotel was clean, convenient and nicely positioned the bed was particularly firm
Beauitiful old building with many original features Room was small with only basic facilities, bathroom needed updating
the hotel is in a nice location ,the lounge was nice ,and the dining room also. the staff were nice the room was very old fashioned, the shower was over the bath, with no rubber mat, very slippery !and no pressure in the shower head, there was no lights on outside the front door,or on the seating area outside the lounge at night , with nettles growing in the flower pots! there was no vegertarian meals on the dinner menu, had to ask for something to be made up.Not worth paying extra for superior room upgrade!
Lovely Lounge with a log fire Bedroom a bit disappointing for a 4 Star hotel
Deirdre and I like the hotel very much, we enjoyed ourselves there and also celebrate our wedding anniversary, (39 years) a life sentences, on the day we arrived there, 23th October 2010. We couldn't find fault we it,
The fact that dogs were allowed
The food was just yummy and the staff were wonderful. We stayed in the bothy across from the main hotel and the room was comfortable and cosy. We enjoyed having our own door which opened out onto the lawn. Great for the dog. We will try our best to come back as soon as possible. Nothing.
The restaurant, the food and service The room for the price was a disgrace, it was an attic room with a low ceiling and it was impossible to get hot water in the bath or shower, the attitude of the reception staff was that it was not a problem, but as the shower tap was impossible to turn and the hot water tap did not produce any water this had not just happened. AG
Helpfull staff Twin bed room was not large enough to take an extra bed as requested, had to have family room that had no water so given an extra room to shower in, so got there in end but meant a mix up for first hour moving rooms!
Very clean, comfortable, all staff very efficient and helpful. meals excellent. Very enjoyable stay
Restaurant was top quality with a good menu and excellently cooked food. Great easy access to the Cairngorm mountains Room was cramped and bathroom very poor with loose towel rail and a tiny space. Very few facilities - one piece of soap for two people. Not really up to standar for such a high priced room.
Very comfortable, friendly and clean. Very pleasant and helpful staff.
Staff very friendly and helpful, gave me extra teabags etc - only 2 provided. Nice situation and views. Liked a walk-in shower rather than the shower over the bath. I had asked form groundfloor, but took 1st floor as told there was a lift. However there was a long corridor with sets of steps, difficult for my husband walking with 2 sticks, and for pulling the suitcase We ordered dinner for 7.30 but several items on the menu were not available.
the noise in the restaurant due to the group (no specifique room for them)
The hotel was in a lovely area. I found the staff completely imcompetent. The rooms cleanliness left a lot to be desired.
Looks good from the outside Didn't know it was a tour bus hotel otherwise we would not have stayed there. Food wasn't good.
Excellent meal. Size of room.
The bathroom was particularly well equipped.
Excellent breakfast; engaging and helpful hostess
Excellent B&B; very nice room (perfect for family with kids); wonderful breakfast; good value Bigger sign pointing to B&B (hard to find, esp. at night)
Extremely welcoming, warm, relaxing. Beautiful rooms, exceptional use of space and fittings in en suite bathroom. Very considerate landlady. Highly highly recommended.
Warm and friendly welcome. Very clean and comfortable. Our hosts were extreamly helpful. No chairs in the bedroom. Need a handrail at the main entrance for physically limited people.
Val, the proprietor was a fund of local knowledge and help. She gave good recommendations on which local businesses gave good value for money. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble for her.
Good sized room with good facilities and shower, Excellent breakfast None really
Lovely area. Very friendly hosts. Two weeks touring Scotland. Hotel and B and B's. This was the most expensive.
Bathroom Seperate from Room not a good Idea. No privacy to Bathroom.
The room was excellent and the bathroom was a five stars one. Nothing.
I was informed by booking info that booking in time was from 2pm but when we got there at 2pm was told we were not due to book in till 3pm. As we had been traveling for some time and the weather it would have been better to not have to wait around for 1 hour.
Excellent value, excellent service. I will stay again when in the area on business
Comfy beds; fireside feel; friendly & helpful staff. Lack of wireless internet access
We had a very comfortable, spacious room & nice ambience in the hotel Parts of the room were not cleaned properly. Not much choice for dinner at the restaurant, just a set menu which was too expensive for us
Easy to find good food night porter for late drink if needed
Beauty of the local area and staff of hotel. They were extremely polite, knowledgeable, and welcoming!
The ambiance of the public rooms, breakfast and staff were attentive. Trying to sleep in a double bed that was 2 singles pushed together, have had that before but I have never in a hotel slept in a "double bed" with 2 single duvets. It is not the most comfortable way to spend an evenings sleep.Next question yes, apart from this statement.
The warm atmosphere created in bar and reception, real fires always help this. Also barman very friendly and chatty The shower didn't work
Very comfortable hotel lovely rooms and public areas
retained old features eg, furniture used, breakfast cooked to order breakfast was a bit slow
We liked the friendly atmosphere and the willingness of the staff to help
All good None
Excellent. The staff and owners were great. They put us in a room that cost more since they didn't have the rooms we booked due to renovations, yet charged us the lower price. They explained everything, and entertained us as well. The food was excellent and the ambiance was perfect. The best hotel we stayed at in Scotland out of four. It was like staying in a bed and breakfast, they were very personable and entertained us for hours with stories, and gave advice on where to go in the local area for site seeing. Probably one of the best hotel stays I've had in all of Europe. I would recommend this to anyone, and plan on passing on the hotel to my friends that are planning trips to Scotland. n/a
Spacious room with extra length double bed and good sized bathroom. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to please. Fan in the bathroom stays on for a very long time. The room is on the street and near a youth club, and was very noisy at night (Saturday).
Friendly staff - nice area - good food
the Eastbank was homely, and clean. The food was plentiful and good, presentation could have been improved. There appeared to be no heating, although it was only early Sept, we thought the heating should have been on, as it was chilly in the mornings and late at night.
comfortable bed no
Our room was exceptional. The staff at the hotel were wonderful, made us feel as if we were right at home and very welcome. It was a wonderful vacation and we would love to go back.
What a pleasure it is to encounter a traditional British hotel that understands that knows the difference between comfort and quality as against superficial 'flash' and excessive provision of so called luxury smellies, sweets, facile consumer mags and other litter. At the Grant Arms Hotel more substantial qualities are deeply engrained, topped off by it classy specialisation in wildlife watching and outdoor visits. However, I can imagine spending a happy short break here during wet windy weather, being entertained all the time playing games, making jigsaws, reading books (from the hotel's excellent collection), sampling the many fine whiskeys - then there is the good food, talks and films...
Staff very friendly and helpful. Good value for money Internet connection poor
Arriving late evening it was so welcoming to have a receptionist who looked pleased to see us and took plenty of time over explaining the layout and facilities of the hotel. North East accent in Scotland!!
Excellent family room for 4...great to have separate twin beds for the kids to get a good sleep!
The location n/a
Good standards and facilities, room was very clean and comfortable and staff were genuine and helpfull. The birds chirping cd gets annoying.
Family visit ti Grantown
Outstanding Hotel with the staff, reception, room and meals all exceptional value. Will definately stay there again and use your service again! None
The staff were very friendly and keen to help at all times
We were made to feel welcome straight away, our room was lovely, quiet, the food well presented and cooked. All staff were exceptionally polite No
Catering was of a high standard. The owners and staff are very attentive. The overall ambience is warm and cosy. No
Convenient location with a warm and friendly welcome from the owner. Decor was a little tired.
Very clean with excellent staff. Recommend to anyone wanting a quiet relaxing few days.j
Very homely atmosphere and friendly staff. Hotel was Convenient for the purpose of my stay.
Location and friendlieness of staff.
The welcome and service throughout our stay. Nothing chilled on breakfast buffet. It may have been lying out all morning.
liked the fact that there was a bar and food available. It was easy to find some noise from street outside - people talking/clapping. possibly from other accomodation on the street?
It was centrally located for visiting castles and distilleries. Great access to wildlife and nature. The staff (manager) was great and very accommodating.
Very central. Accommodation good, clean and comfortable. Staff helpful and efficient Breakfasts good and well prepared and presented. Entance to car park hazerdous.
Friendly welcome from managers, clean & comfortable room, mugs for in-room tea & coffee rather than tiny wee cups! Bathroom & loo were on different floor from bedroom
breakfast i had a room at the front- noisy in early morning with big trucks
well run , friendly but not intrusive. Very clean.
Friendly staff clean rooms and good facilities Glass doors on ensuite did not allow any privacy when using tiolet
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast choice was brilliant.
First class atmosphere. Professional, experienced staff. Excellent food and friendly well stocked bar. Room slightly dowdy and in need of redecoration. Bed uncomfortable.
Wonderful stay, excellent service and good value for money
This is a beautiful hotel. It is very old fashioned and has a unique character. The staff were helpful. The sleepy little town of Ablour was a great location for our trip to the highlands.
The food and the surroundings were lovely nothing to fault about the hotel or the staff, great stay.
Relaxing atmosphere The furniture in the bedroom was tired and the bathroom was average
Comfort, relaxing, good food and service.
Staff were so friendly and helpful. The hotel was set in a beautiful location and had a lovely relaxed feel to it. The cooked breakfast in the morning was amazing!!! Brilliant stay!
the staff were great and could`nt do enough to help. it was a very relaxing place to stay. and the whisky bar was great! no complaints, lovely hotel and staff... but vegetarian menu slightly limited.
The hospitality, and the food in the restraunt were both excellent. Would stay again The shower in my room was not very good, poor water flow, new showers plumbed to the ains and not 'instant' should be installed
The property is well suitable for overnight or a short holiday stay - the rooms are clean cosy & comfortable. The service was friendly and accommodating, and the breakfast was excellent. Rooms are not en-suit (the landlord had a valid & acceptable reason), although no problem was encountered with shared tiolet & bathroom - both were clean & adequate.
Fantastic, Clean & Tidy. Nothing
The bathroom, breakfast. Nothing
Nice freshly cooked breakfast Small room with an uncomfortable bed cupboards used as storage by owners
Very friendly and informative owners, comfy beds, very clean throughout. Breakfast
The rooms were great and very clean! The shower would alternate between cold and hot water and never stayed at a comfortable temperature. The staff wasn't very welcoming, but not rude.
Very nice host. Nice stories. Helpfull. The rooms looked nice.
Relaxed environment, friendly staff
everything except.. the sloping ceiling caused me a nasty bang on the head! My fault but hard lesson!
Beautiful surroundings and lovely hotel, lovely stripped wooden floors in bar and restaurant with lovely open fire. Very comfortable. I liked the deserts but didn't think the main course (I had salmon and my husband had the Indian spiced chicken) was worth the amount of money they charged.
helpful staff room was rather on the small side for a 5 day stay, could have alloctated a room with enough space to unpack 5 days clothes and suitcase storage
friendliness of staff, quality of food, cleanliness of room, total peace.
Lack of in-room internet.
Stayed in a Deluxe Room, but would not class it as that. Room size was ok but no better than a Standard Room. Bed was excellent but very poor shower. Shower was a "trickle", breakfast was average and eating arrangements were disjointed.
Nice friendly hotel with a good mix of people running it. Bedroom excellent. Two of the three dining areas were busy and cosy. No real complaints.
the bed's are very large and comfitable, location no lift,
View from room. Evening meal in restuarant was over-priced and of a poor standard. Room was basic and small, out-dated in decor, and not worth the money.
the exterior of the building was very nice and quaint and the location was great the staff was not helpful and bordered on rude. the room was old and deteriorating. service was poor. very expensive given the quality of the hotel. should be rated with 2 stars, not 4
