Pros: The host treated us like family, even the dog wanted to socialize. The room could be a showcase of a Laura Ashley store. Breakfast was fantastic. We were asked the evening before what we want .
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Really nice friendly people. Nice room with own entrance. Excellent breakfast
Cons: Decaf coffee at breakfast was instant coffee. Filter decaf would have been preferable
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We liked everything: friendly hosts, great accommodation, wonderful bed, excellent breakfast and coffee.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location, walking distance to a coffee shop and brewery. Hosts are very welcoming and made my stay comfortable and relaxing. Breakfast is a real treat with fantastic choices. The rooms are nicely decorated, clean and everything you need is there. My room was on the ground floor near the main entrance which makes it very easy with heave luggage and it's also very private and easy access in and out. Lovely place indeed!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is both rural and peaceful yet there is a delightful, interesting brewery a stroll away and two excellent places to eat close by. Charming courtyard room, excellent privacy, faultless attention to detail, with comfortable bed, high quality bed linen and I loved the air conditioning unit which quickly cooled the room. Appreciated the provision of nuts, biscuits, the variety of teas and coffee and wine glasses for our use. Great to also have a radio and a clock in our room. Really nice to be able to sit out in the garden too. Breakfast was a treat and I particularly loved the fresh fruit salad. Our hosts were extremely friendly and knowledgable about small places to visit without driving too far. We really enjoyed exploring the small book and antique shops in Petworth.
Cons: Loved everything and would highly recommend.

Feels like you’re in the middle of nowhere, but actually, you’re not! The owner, Gill, is a very kind woman, does her utmost to make everything comfortable for you. The whole weekend has been relaxed and the breakfast was very nice. Neat bed and bathroom, really very very good.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: A very idyllic spot.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast generous. Fresh eggs and honey from the farm on homemade bread. Owner really helpful and generous with information. Location beautiful and peaceful. Directions to property from owner good. Cottage characterful. Parking easy - need a car to get to villages, but walking tracks from the property. Bedroom cosy and well equipped.
Cons: First day breakfast yogurt and berries not quite defrosted. Bathroom small and showerhead is on bath taps - Fine for us but not for larger people. Information about bedroom accommodation on website bit unclear. It is in fact a family room - one double and one single so can be used flexibly for family of 3 or couple or twin.

Pros: The breakfast, like dinner was excellent, freshly cooked, high quality. You have a selection form you fill in the night before, not a problem to me. Room beautiful decor, quiet, clean, well equipped and a big desk.
Cons: If I could make one criticism it would be the strength of the guest wifi in Room 2, in the bar it was good, but the room struggled to get any wifi at all. Phone signal is not good in the area so you need the wifi to make calls.
7.0 Good

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location and great to have an outside area to sit and enjoy the evening sun! Had dinner at the hotel which was excellent and a superb breakfast too!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The whole Hotel is very nicely decorated and has many comfortable benefits including the honesty bar and comfy seating area. The restaurant looked beautiful although we didn't eat there the menu looked very good. The garden view from it was very pretty and everything well maintained to a high standard. The staff we encountered were very helpful and well mannered. Checking in and out was pleasant. On check-out we were asked how our stay was. The young man took all our comments in good grace as it was meant. Constructive critism for the hotel owner to consider for some improvements. The cost of the stay was very reasonable compared to others in the area and was convenient for Guildford.
Cons: The hotel as a whole was very nice.. However we stayed in room 5 which is under a first floor room which has extremely squeeky floorboards. This room also backs onto a staircase. Both these facts made for a very noisy stay late at night, through the night and in the early morning. Perhaps most other rooms here would not suffer this fate. The pillows and mattress did not have protectors on them which they should do. Both for hygiene and the hotel's mattress longevity. Some of the furniture was badly marked... Placemats for tea cups would prevent that. There is the floorspace for the bed to be moved over. The bathroom door opens onto the end of it causing a hazard. Finally the hot water in the sink is scalding hot, being set so high that its causing the tap fitting to swell and sieze up making it difficult to turn off. We didn't use the "cool" shower bit it looked good!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent hotel at a great price ! Would have stayed longer!
6.8 Good
Pros: Kind and helpful people.
5.5 Okay
Pros: It was clean

Pros: Evening meal had generous serving, bur although OK was not outstanding. Breakfast was much more than adequate and very good value. Both the rooms, bar and dining area had nice rural charm, and parking was easy.
Cons: Rooms were above the bar and therefore somewhat noisy during opening hours, but acceptable - however the fact that the staff were loud after closing and into the early hours of the following day was not acceptable.

Pros: Beautiful location, walking trails all around and it was close to Bath, Stonehenge and Wales. My wife loved the look and feel of the place.
Cons: They did need to fix the bathroom floor by the shower, starting to cave in, it seemed.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: We only had 1 dinner which was excellent, no breakfast. But what really made our stay were the lovely young staff behind the bar. Fab guys, thank you so much.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely staff and wonderful place to stay. Only slight negative was price for the breakfast. If you had the full breakfast no quibbles. Didn't need to eat to late evening after it. My daughter only wanted sausage on toast but there's no flexibility in the price, still paid £10 for that. Small detail but loved staying here
Cons: As above

The Crown Inn - Godalming - Restaurant
9
8.7 Excellent (477 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at The Crown Inn in Godalming, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Petworth House and Ramster Gardens. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Room size, cleanliness and decor
Cons: Bed was too firm and there was no milk in the room and no one around to find any.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff friendly and very helpful. Food very good
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was clean and quiet, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was modern and spacious. The shower worked well. The homemade granola was delicious. The building has lots of character.
Cons: The welcome was a bit underwhelming. We were simply shown to our room, which wasn't quite ready when we arrived, though we only had to wait for a few minutes. No information was provided about breakfast times etc. Only a continental breakfast was offered during the period of our stay, which we had not been told about at the time of booking (we were informed about this a few weeks before our stay, but a price reduction wasn't offered). We weren't offered more than a single small cup of filter coffee with our breakfast. It might have been nice to have been asked whether we wanted more coffee and/or be given a cafetière between two. The rate seems a bit expensive for what was a perfectly pleasant but hardly premium hotel experience.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Crown has an excellent olde worlds feeling whilst actually having all modern services.
Cons: There isa shortage of parking space especially for large cars.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were extremely efficient and very friendly. The food was also excellent, with a good choice for breakfast which was freshly cooked. The room was very clean
Cons: The room, being over the bar and outside seating area, was a little noisy. The lighting in the room was poor, making reading at night difficult.
7.5 Good
Cons: Not the pubs fault, but they have an out of control family causing a really bad atmosphere in the bar. Shame.
6.8 Good
Cons: Food was poor in evening compared to when i have stayed before !!
5.8 Okay
Pros: Breakfast ok but the second day only had continental on offer. The building is nice enough as its an old period Inn. The location was excellent for our occasion in the village.
Cons: The bedroom was very sad and dated, the bedhead was badly stained and very off putting. Wardrobe doors with no handles and an old fan for cooling which was filthy. It was certainly not worth the price we paid and had they not already have taken payment from my card I absolutely would not have paid the full price for this hotel. The manager was supposed to ring me back to discuss but as expected has not done so. This hotel is very rundown looking ie carpets are very badly stained and it does not warrant its good reviews. It does however deserve a makeover as its a lovely old building . Other family members stayed at other locations in the village and they were excellent and much cheaper. A good review from booking .com made me stay here !!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I have visited the Crown many times for a drink and spent New year here in years gone by. This was my first experience staying and I took the opportunity as it was a good location for me for work. I love the property. The staff are friendly and clearly host many regular visitors but made me feel welcome also,
Cons: It was a warm evening and I would have loved a bit of air con or a fan in the room.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff, comfortable room, excellent kitchen
Cons: Not much to do in the village
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything....friendliness of staff, food, service, the character of hotel.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and comfortable, really nice area. Next to a pub so handy for meals
Cons: Rooms nice but not huge
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff Great food comfy rooms (garden room 7) overlooking the llama paddock is amazing!!!
Cons: Having to come home lol.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely country pub great for ramblers, bikers, just to get away into country for a few days and yet a short car journey to Godalming/Guildford. Cosy room -a bit tight if you have largish suitcases. A lovely breakfast was provided-full English and Vegi options.
Cons: Personal observations: Disappointing cafeteria coffee only-I love my morning Latte!! Is there any way you can restrict the time of the ventilation in bathroom. Goes on a long time and is very noisy in the night if you need to switch light on. Apart from that a lovely country pub with thoughtful touches.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a fantastic find! The Merry Harriers is in a lovely location and the place itself is superb. It's like a step back in time to a traditional country inn but with all of the modern facilities (including wifi). We stayed in the main building, which we thought would be noisy as our room was directly over the bar. However, it was surprisingly quiet and we had a great nights sleep. The room and bathroom were well equipped with tea and coffee making facilities in the bedroom. We were even given a flask of fresh milk for the room to have with our tea. The shower was very powerful, the room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. There was plenty of parking spaces, which is an important consideration for me. We had an evening meal in the restaurant, which was gorgeous and well priced. Beforehand, we enjoyed several drinks sitting outside and simply enjoyed the relaxed, tranquil surroundings. Breakfast next morning was first class. A great choice of cereals, breads, meats etc. We opted for the full english, which was one of the nicest breakfasts we have had. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Genuine, nice people! We will definitely visit the Merry Harriers again and next time we will try one of the Shepherds Huts. We stumbled across the Merry Harriers by chance as we wanted an overnight stay close to Hickstead. It was one of the best places we have stayed at and we absolutely loved our weekend there.
Cons: There was nothing not to like.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Charming location, rooms & shower stall + staff very nice
Cons: Restaurant not open (Sun evng) was a shame

Cons: Very low doors but I suppose this ain't really a problem just character
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Relaxing
7.0 Good

Pros: Friendly service good location just 7 minutes walk from train station. Very clean and comfortable.
Cons: Shower was a bit hard work. The shower head would only point towards the shower door.
7.5 Good
Pros: Excellent location with nicely decorated and very clean rooms.
Cons: The double room we had was extremely cramped yet classed by the hotel as a "deluxe double".
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Liked the location, bed comfort and quietness. Shower was so powerful, great!
Cons: Had to change rooms due to sink not working properly. Staff member was very helpful and sorted the issue immediately. New room was nice though.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Quality products for breakfast
Cons: Very noisy and very tiny room - make sure you don't book a room overlooking the road which is very busy and noisy. No en suite bathroom. No flexibility of reception staff when asked to change the room - I was offered a room upgrade for 45 pounds (!!!).
6.3 Good
Pros: The hotel has been recently refurbished and was clean. It did have good parking and friendly staff.
Cons: Small hot single room on the ground floor with a large window which would be easy to climb in from the outside. A noisy road outside. The bathroom was private away from the room along a main corridor with a heavy fire door in between and a noisy door to the bathroom. You could hear the plumbing, doors and people talking.

Pros: The room was air conditioned which was great especially as weather was very humid. Tea and coffee facilities a welcoming extra as able to make a cuppa whenever you fancied one. Bed was very comfortable and pillows lovely and soft.
Cons: Only fault was mirror placed on the wall in an place where when drying your hair unable to see what you were doing, could have done with an extra power point located nearer the mirror.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: friendly staff and a lovely ambience in the hotel. Great food served at meal times as well
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super nice place, spacious rooms and comfy bed! Lovely and helpful staff, nice breakfast! Would def recommend it!
7.5 Good
Pros: Breakfast delayed and not great
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Unlike most other places we've stayed around England, breakfast was an extra charge. We got a better room, though, so can't complain. Ask for one on the back, which is quieter and overlooks their garden. The bed was very comfortable. And the room had A/C units, urgently needed in July! The bathroom was large and very clean.
Cons: Some furniture was in need of replacement.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Fine breakfast with quality ingredients and served by friendly staff. Good selection of real ale and wines.
Cons: Nothing negative to say
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful rooms where every detail has been considered. Loved the fan by the bed and the comfort of the bed too. It felt really warm and inviting in the room. Would thoroughly recommend to others.
6.8 Good
Pros: View from window very dull. But bathroom etc good.
7.5 Good
Pros: Nice sized room, very comfy bed and nice bathroom. Evening meal nice but rather salty to our taste.
Cons: Road outside noisy (from early on too) and scary to cross to car park !
7.5 Good
Pros: Lovely place with plenty of parking and great location for us
Cons: Room was a bit too warm and towel rail in bathroom was boiling hot which for time of year made it too warm

Cons: N/A
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good breakfast. Served in the room. Can't ask for more.
Cons: Nothing to complain about.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The attention to detail. The breakfast is excellent. Had a great sleep each night. The room was very comfortable and spotless. For me the location suited my requirements.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Loved the breakfasts! They were a total lifesaver while I was working for so long and have a tight budget
Cons: Not much could be improved here, especially considering its cheap to stay in compared to the surrounding hotels. A lot of sound comes through the windows when they are closed, and I could really hear the shower from my room, but that wasn't too much of a bother since I was out most of the day.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Initially a very friendly welcome, comfortable room, good tea or coffee making facilities.
Cons: After the lady of the house fell ill we felt completely abandoned. I'm very sorry she wasn't well but there was obviously no contingency plan in place. We had to leave with no breakfast (without warning) and let ourselves out because it seemed impossible to make contact with anyone. The owners refused to respond to all of my attempts to make contact and took the full amount from my bank card despite the fact we left high and dry in the morning and with no breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The crossit and the bedroom was clean
Cons: I like the guest house
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I visited the guesthouse in March and I was really impressed with everything that was offered, but I think it has improved since then, in terms of facilities in the room and the breakfast. The host, who is very friendly, works very hard to improve the service. This is my first choice place to stay in Guildford!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The establishment is typical British - warm and relatively cozy - although a bit tight mainly in the washroom.
Cons: The location. A bit far away from the centre - about a 10+15 minutes walk (this might be ok for some people). Breakfast always served in the room which obliges you to open the door at a certain hour and be presentable which impeeds your choice of when to get up in the morning.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: continental breakfast was ok yogurt was warm had to keep blinds down on window the hottest night because of overlooking properties did supply fan the mattress wasn't good for me not much sleep
Cons: mattress
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was good and the area was quiet and peaceful. The room was very clean and sunny.
Cons: Breakfast had no milk or butter but I normally would only eat fruit and yogurt that was provided. So actually for me, breakfast was fine. So I would ask if you want milk with your cornflakes.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely historic building, great atmosphere, blended really well with the more modern buildings. Appreciated the colour scheme in the new dining area, and the panelled, historical ambience in the old building. Great views and grounds. Lovely pool and changing facilities The bedrooms were good sized, and very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious, staff very friendly and helpful- the dinner menu was perhaps not as varied as it could be- (no 'choice' for vegetarians) but saying that the meal was delicious, we were neither rushed nor left waiting for too long- It was relaxed and the background piano music gave just the right feeling. Afternoon tea was also yummy! A delightful place to celebrate a wedding anniversary, as we did.
Cons: Small thing really- the disabled bay where we needed to park has really difficult paving to walk on when walking is challenging anyway- small uneven flagstones with dropped grouting, just waiting to trip a disabled person with a stick, and no doubt prove a bumpy ride for anyone in a wheelchair. The area iss not large and, like the rest of the paving surfaces elsewhere, I realise were chosen for their aesthetic qualities but thought needed to be given to who would be using them- something more able bodied people perhaps would give no thought to, but are a red flag area for those who are less able-bodied.
7.0 Good
Pros: Our room was perfect. The bed was comfy and we had a sofa and separate sitting room too. All was very clean and presented well. The bathroom was stocked well and the shower was powerful. The grounds were beautiful.
Cons: We went swimming and the changing rooms were not clean at all. Lots of hair and grime on the floor and in the showers. The pool wasn’t very warm and around the pool wasn’t very clean. Yeh staff on reception when we checked in weren’t very friendly. Quite a few lockers in the men’s changing rooms did not work.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were nice & clean & the surroundings were idealistic, quiet and lovely views, restaurant meals were very good and on warm plates
Cons: We stayed here 2 years ago and felt it has gone a little downhill, our friends had a room with only 1 plug socket and had to move the kettle from where it was to the socket also the clock on the side of the bed just had a dangling lead with nowhere to plug it. Our double room was 2 single beds. This was after we had already been told we had booked 3 rooms we didn't then feel happy about complaining we did not have a double bed. The drinks we felt were a little overpriced over £14 for a shandy & a Gin & Tonic, our friends whom we were with paid £28 for a 2 double Gins and 1 tonic. Staff were nice & friendly but service at the bar was slow and when my wife went to pay for dinner it took 10mins as there was no card machine handy. Some staff need to be trained better when serving meals. Breakfast was spoilt by having to put not very hot food on cold plates
6.8 Good
Pros: Very relaxing location
Cons: Found the evening restaurant staff very inattentive and was not made to feel welcome. Could have been that they were busy but I did not feel that I was a valued customer
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely spa night, would have liked air con for added bonus but nevertheless very nice stay
4.5 Okay
Pros: Breakfast ok
Cons: Stairs uncomfortable to take luggage, nobody helped. Lack of air Condition. Food regular.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: A great place to stay for a couple of nights. Everything was at or above our expectations. Room good, breakfast good, staff excellent. The facilities at the hotel were very good, Would return without doubt.
Cons: Nothing. All was very professional, very good and staff were always friendly and helpful. There is nothing I could fault or complain about. We will return without doubt. Location, venue and facilities first class.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The massage was wonderful. The hotel is beautiful and in a lovely area. There should be more choice on the evening menu and the room was really hot, but we would go back
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Throughly enjoyed our stay here, the hotel is set in beautiful countryside with fantastic views from the breakfast room. Rooms were lovely, clean and beds were a very good size and very comfortable.

Pros: Comfortable room. Staff were helpful and polite and attended immediately to a couple of complaints. Restaurant on site was pleasant, food nice, service very good with helpful cheerful waitresses.
Cons: Toilet flush in room not working( but fixed straight away by the Manager) when reported. Kettle in room has to be put on floor as lead won’t reach plug. Shower drained probably blocked as shower tray fills and overflows, all reported. Busy Pub on a Main Street so a little noisy but very pleasant overall.Made to feel very welcome.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: We booked 4 rooms for us and our family as we had our wedding in Cranleigh. The staff as always were exceptional, friendly and attentive! The rooms were clean and a good size
Cons: Rooms 2 and 3 were a bit noisy as located over the front windows and next to the kitchen but it’s a working pub so some noise should be expected

5.8 Okay
Pros: Comfy bed. Nice spa facilities.
Cons: Complete lack of customer service on check in, the person checking us in had no interest, I asked for a shoe polishing kit or shoe shining service, they pretty much scoffed. Room overlooked a building site and above a club which had loud thumping music until 0100 hrs. Phoned reception they just said there was a night on and nothing they could do. On check out the person had no idea what day it even was. Pricing in the restaurant seemed sporadic, some things were reasonable others weren’t. Breakfast was overpriced given my partner only wanted a slice of toast and we had to pay for the continental buffet to get that-£12. Ordered poached eggs for lunch, they were hard through, well over-very cheap price though. Burger was good-But expensive. Although we stayed on the weekend we couldn’t use the spa without paying so only got to use it on the Friday good thing we arrived early.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Friendliness of staff
Cons: Water pressure lower than I'm used to at home
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was very close to the event we were attending. The bar in the lobby was "hip" and the hotel was very nice and upscale.
7.5 Good
Pros: The breakfast choice was amazing!!
Cons: Our room was disappointing as it has a disabled bathroom so no bath !! I asked the man on reception about it and he moved us to another room!! Which strangely enough was the one we stayed in before! All ok in the end
9.3 Excellent
Pros: One of nicest hotels I have been into lately.
Cons: Wifi quality. VPN refused to work with it. If you are traveling for work that can be quite annoying.
7.5 Good
Pros: The Gym is excellent The location is ideal friendly staff
Cons: The breakfast buffet location is not attractive. It looks like a temporary solution in the alley. I also miss bananas and berries. At the time of the Radisson this was much better organised and the choice was much larger and better presented.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Air con was great, big bathroom and comfortable bed
Cons: Staff a bit stuffy at night, came home from a wedding and wanted to have some food but was made to take it to our room...the hotel was empty
7.0 Good
Pros: The hotel has an outdoor area for drinks and a large bar.
Cons: The rooms were very dated which was quite a surprise as the photos made them look very nice. The room rate is too high for what you get, either breakfast needs to be included or the rate reduced considerably. Charging guests £10 to use the pool at weekends is absurd.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Welcoming staff, clean hotel clean bed sheets towels bathrooms, beautiful spa , jetty restaurant
Cons: Bigger swimming pool
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely interiors in a modern hotel. Bed very comfy and very clean.

Bill's restaurant very good. I'm on a special diet and they were very accommodating. They have special menus for people with allergies.

Pros: Location and large rooms
Cons: Noise from street first thing in morning ... it was summer so windows were open
7.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast @ bills was very nice, have to pay separately though
Cons: Had room on 1st floor right above narrow alley. Was very noisy late at night with people walking through alley and talking loudly. Next morning glass / bottle container was emptied @ 6am causing a lot of noise and waking me up
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was great and the suite was spacious. Staff were very friendly and informative.
Cons: It was quite dusty with cobwebs and we encountered 4 spiders in one day. Very noisy if windows are open.

7.5 Good
Pros: Convenient location that met our needs.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly welcome from staff, especially Michelle, and regulars. It was clean and the breakfast was good value. Hot water and comfortable bed. A most welcome fan. It was easy to get the bus to Guildford, Cranleigh and the surrounding villages. No evening food provided at the Wheatsheaf , but plenty of places to eat nearby. We got the bus to Wonersh in the evening and had dinner at the Grantley Arms which was excellent.
Cons: Room was very small, but we were prepared for that. It was noisy being right on the busy road and the windows needed to be open due to the heat, but ear plugs had been provided and we slept pretty well. Felt a proper blind should be provided in the shower room instead of a net curtain.
5.5 Okay
Cons: People chatting outside of our room until 3.30am
