The Cave of Dreams - Baza - Bedroom
1
9.5 Excellent (97 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Situated in Baza, The Cave of Dreams features free WiFi. The room has a private bathroom accessible from the terrace. The nearest airport is Granada airport 1 hour form the property.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clive and Allan are the perfect hosts, kind, friendly, and a fount of local info. They helped us to plan our couple of days here, taking the time giving us insider knowledge that ensured we made the most of every minute. The cave house is really cute and super comfortable surrounded by spectacular scenery. Highly enjoyable and not to be missed!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Rural property, but town of Baza is nearby (3 miles). Loved seeing the other different cave houses dotted around nearby and what the owners have done to them. Visiting guests need to be aware that location is in rural/agricultural place. The Cave of Dreams is quirky in its design, but fully satisfied my needs. It is cosy, but not cramped. There is no wardrobe but clothes can be hung up (owners have constructed a small hanging space in one on the caves rock spaces). Although the bathroom is accessed outside from your own spacious and private terrace (3-4 steps max), this did not cause me any concern. Bathrobes are provided but there is no lock on the bathroom door (didn't cause me any safety concerns). Property very clean. Fridge, kettle etc. I didn't have a car but was able to get around and the owners were very generous and if they were going into Baza even offered to drive me in which was very kind and unexpected. In fact the owners went above and beyond in their hosting skills (despite me having never met them before). Although I did not use it there is an outdoor kitchen to cook your own food etc, which is an added bonus (fridge, microwave, utensils, seating area).
Cons: To be honest there was nothing I didn't like!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice breakfast very reasonable. Clive and Allan are very friendly and have a wealth of local knowledge, they are very keen to help in my case with searching for a property.Wouldnt hesitate to stay there again liked the room and the private terrace great views
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts are wonderful. Very helpful and kind. The cave is superbly furnished, very Dreamy with kettle, coffee, milk etc provided. Cave is super cool even in 45C heat! Wonderful place, the most beautiful I have visited in Andalucia. I highly recommend it. You will have a fabulous stay. And the patio with view is gorgeous.
Cons: Nothing
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great hosts. Comfortable room with a nice terrace. Simple but super breakfast.
Cons: Access is a little difficult.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Allan and Clive are extremely friendly and make you feel very welcome. The property is located out of town and you feel like you're in the wild west or somewhere. The actual room maintains its original character and you know you are staying in a cave - very novel experience! The breakfast was great and the guys are a wealth of knowledge on the local area - I'd highly recommend a stay here!

Pros: Funky but tiny room with excellent host/owners. Excellent terrace! Good internet connection.

Pros: - Great, nice owners - Fantastic views - Spacious rooms - I highly recommend this place Maria - thank you for everything.
Cons: - Difficult access road, but it has its own climate
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful view, friendly and helpful staff. Near to beautiful areas. Warm house and very good space. Nice and clean and all the necessary cooking tools as pots, sharp knifes, plates etc. :) Gorafe village felt safe and friendly.
Cons: No internet WIFI, kitchen has large space but the cooking area is a little bit small if you are going to cook. There could be better light att the door at night as it was difficult to find the key hole when dark outside. The outside light did not reach the door so it was a bit fumbling but not a big problem.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Magnificent views, well equipped, wonderful hosts who went out of their way to help and make your stay extremely enjoyable. A unique experience that we would fully recommend to experience cave living in a beautiful setting. Many nice local places to explore.
Cons: Pool was quite cold, apartment was a little damp.
10.0 Excellent

8.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was in an excellent location in the centre of the old town. Bedrooms were large and the air conditioning was on when we arrived, as it was 34 degrees outside we were very grateful. Reception staff explained everything regarding breakfast, restaurant and gave us a plan of the town indicating all the monuments
Cons: Our room looked nothing like the photograph on my booking form. I was shown two other rooms and they looked nothing like the photos on the website. The room we had was big but dark. Breakfast was o.k. but a lot of the food was in packets. Bottled fruit juice, make your own toast. No rolls only slices of bread.

Cons: It is necessary use the car to move to a bigger place for dinner
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I have so many positive things to say about this place. First, the staff, so welcoming and friendly, the hotel manager was especially kind and managed to get us two more nights at the hotel, we loved it that much. The food in the restaurant was really great. Portions were huge, incredible Judias dish and excellent bread and meats. They even printed a special menu for my husband in English each day. The folks in the restaurant were super accommodating with our two year old and made fast friends. It really helped to make us feel comfortable have our daughter in a place that was for relaxing. The massages I received were excellent and most of all the baths were so incredible. We were so lucky to happen upon this place! The local area is incredibly beautiful and there was plenty of shopping and cafes in nearby Guadix.

Pros: The place was beautiful and clean, my kids loved to play outside with cute dog, from window can see Mountains and night time was beautiful moon and stars. Bathroom had a small spa :)
Cons: When we arrive at night there was no one, no recepcion so that caused litlle complicated how to get in and if wanted to ask something or buy something, we couldnt. But the man in the Phone helped and was friendly so we manage it ok.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The unit and facilities were excellent. We were the only guests so it was very quiet.
Cons: We had a little trouble checking in as the reception was closed and the key left for us in a key box. I had missed a final email from the property with instructions so it took a while to work out how to open the box and the gate was difficult to open but once inside everything was excellent.
5.5 Okay
Pros: Very pretty room
Cons: Shower attachment to wall broken No hot water first night. Had to ring mobile to be told it has a long way to come let it run for 5 minutes before you use it! Absolutely no facilities. Room only. We're told the restaurant was only open at weekends but there was no where you could even buy a coffee or drink apart from the local tapas bar 1 1/2 miles away! Surely there should have been at least a hospitality tray, it wasn't an apartment it was supposedly classified as an hotel.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Hermann was a very gracious host, explaining everything and making sure we were completely comfortable. He gave us an upgrade to a suite that was huge and beautifully decorated and since it was cold he already started up the heaters before we arrived. The suite was well equipped with a mini-fridge, an electric kettle, a TV and even a hot-tub.
Cons: The bed was a bit soft for our liking.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful accommodation in a rural setting. Huge comfortable bed. Communication was excellent Very pet friendly.
Cons: Nothing! It was perfect.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The location, dog friendly, lovely converted hacienda in spacious grounds with lovely view of the mountains. It was quiet and my room was warm and well equipped. The hotel does not do breakfast but there was tea/coffee making facilities, biscuits and a small fridge. The restaurant appeared popular although I did not eat there. I would return, no problem.
Cons: My bolster pillow. Hard as concrete and totally unyielding. Such a pity as everything else suited me just fine.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff. Location. Rooms. Spa. All excellent
Cons: The resturaunt... Unfortunatly having used the restaurant for the 3rd time I was sadly very disappointed with my last visit. Magra + French fry for main course. Not a patch on my previous visits.
7.5 Good
Pros: The reception staff were lovely and very apologetic. Fabulous views of the lake from our room. We enjoyed the spa.
Cons: The hotel looked like a council office from the outside. There was very little signage and quite difficult to find. The restaurant food was very disappointing. With only three choices on the menu you would have thought they could have got it right. Fatty pork, a few tinned potatoes and no vegetables!! Yuk.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The rooms are spacious and have some nice pieces of old furniture we choose one with a lake view which was magnificent. We had the pool to ourselves all afternoon it has fantastic views over the lake the water was very cold but was much needed in the heat of the afternoon. We didn't get the chance to visit the neighbouring spa.
Cons: Breakfast was very basic
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Spa next door, you must try it

Cons: No negatives
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hotel loved it for 1 night, but isolated but that’s what we wanted
7.0 Good
Pros: General area and staff very pleasant. Spa great. Food good.
Cons: Staying in Spa location it was a 300mtr walk to hotel for dinner or breakfast and walk to hotel had no lighting so you were at risk of a fall unless you drive and then have to drive back after possibly drinking, ok don't drink and drive but considering cost of spa suite against hotel rooms much better value in hotel rooms. No tea or coffee facility in room when other options were not available before 8.30am. Cost of 'superior' accommodation not value.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Food was good - staff excellent , friendly and helpful. Bad mark is because hotel was closed Monday am and we were not told breakfast would NOT be available - also set up is in two parts and you have to walk or drive between them for meals. If you book lake view rooms are in the Balneario whereas restaurant is in Hotel down the hill. Pictures are hotel only plus one view from Balneario.
Cons: Two buildings layout , expensive for what it is - should be able to book hotel only without Balneario .
5.5 Okay
Pros: The room pool and reception staff
Cons: The food in the restaurant and service was well below average and there was no where to get a drink in between opening times?
9.3 Excellent
Pros: excellent rural location at Lake Negratin- a few km fron small town of Zujar. Amazing modern spa facilities and treatments just a short walk from hotel. Lovely ousdoe pool on summer months. Staff are wonderful in all areas.

Pros: See above: great staff. Location handy for Baza and the lake. Nice food. Got discount for Genie
Cons: I asked for a quiet room, we were put at the back of the hostel, but then the air conditioning units kept us awake all night. We didn't run ours as noisy enough but someone left theirs on when they went out. Got another room for the second night. Must say, all staff are soooo nice and helpful and work very hard

6.8 Good

8.3 Excellent

Cons: No hot water in the bathroom (shower)
8.8 Excellent
Pros: we didn't have breakfast, though we would have liked tea and coffee making facilities, which we have had at other hotels. The room we had was quite noisy as the hotel is on a busy road, with a small petrol station just outside. We would have liked better double glazed windows/soundproofing as the noise went on spasmodically through the night. For the money the hotel is ideal for those seeking comfort on a budget, in a superb area. It is only a short walk or drive to the center of Guadix which is a good quality area with lots of good shops and places to eat and drink. The cathedral is stunning! and when we went, there was still a lot of snow on the sierra Nevada mountains which are the main backdrop to Guadix and surrounding villages. We would book again!
Cons: The quite noisy road and petrol station. As i mentioned soundproofing and better double glazing would sort out these problems. Not all the rooms are affected though.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent hotel on the edge of town, breakfasts are an option bought from the attached bar / restaurant. All parts of the town are an easy walk from the hotel including the old town and 'cave houses'. Petrol station next door, handy for the car but no noise from the operation, small shops and supermarket near by . On site staff excellent.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Clean, comfortable hotel close to town centre with secure off street parking in underground garage (well worth extra 7 euro)
Cons: Not really a problem but limited breakfast options in adjoining cafe

4.5 Okay
Pros: Nothing.
Cons: No restaurante as advertised, took ages to convince the staff that we needed to have the aircon control.....it was locked in a box,set at 24 degrees. Would only take cash. No breakfast to purchase. Once car locked in car park no key to get to it.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Brilliant location for our motorcycle trip. Sierra Nevada on the door step. Made very welcome during our stay. Some restaurants and cafe bars. Great access point to the mountains in all directions. Rooms are clean and have air con. Private parking at the back of the hotel which allowed us to keep the bikes locked up during the night.
