Pros:Gudvangen is at the end of a dead end road, so it's very quiet. The ferry from Flåm comes here, so there's a surprisingly large restaurant. OK breakfast. Beds comfortable, although the room was a bit too hot. As we often found, the double bed could be split into 2 single beds. We has a private shower and bathroom, which was well worth the extra cost.
Cons:No WiFi reception in the room. It's remote, but it's not a tourist trap (like Flåm).
Pros:I arrived at the Flam Train station in the evening time when buses were not running. All of the taxi services refused to pick me up. When I called the Gudvangen Fjordtell, Olaf was quick to offer assistance. He sent one of the hotel workers to come pick me up from the train station, free of charge. The entire staff is very generous and accommodating. Also - the hotel is conveniently located at the Gudvangen port and is surrounded by beautiful landscape! I would highly recommend anyone visiting the Flam/Gudvangen area to stay at this hotel!!!
Pros:Far prefer gudvangen to other areas like Flam or Voss. Great location for kayaking, hiking or to do the main fjord four. This is the only hotel there and very small town. Tons of tour groups come through in the morning and afternoon but it is nice and quiet in the evenings. The staff was very accommodating and helpful and all spoke great English. Had a fire going in the dining hall and the euro cup on for everyone to watch. The room itself was superb. Love the Viking decor and grass covered roof.
Cons:Wifi did not work Food available later in the evening (when my boat arrived) was very limited Note that it is light most of the day in Norway in the summer and the window doesn't have a covering
