Location was excellent after doing the fjord cruise from Flam. The setting was very tranquil and beautriful. Lack of choice with evening dining facilities.
Good location.....great views.....nice hiking area! No tv
Only the beautiful nature environment around the hotel. The price is too expensive for what it offer. WC water tank recharge noise every 5 minutes for all night long. Room is too lighted in the early morning due to windowed roof. Breakfast served in a different building.
Excellent rooms with glass at the roof that you could see even the waterfalls on the mountain. Excellent restaurant with view over the fjord. Just outside there is the ferry to Flam. The girls at the reception are very friendly and willing to help with any information needed.Exvellent morning buffet.
Situation (breathtaking) Rooms have a glass ceiling (amaizing view of the fiord's mountains but the sun is your room light), so take mask to sleep during sunlight time, if required.
the enviorment is wonderful, staying in the hotel is an unforgotable experince. but the waiters were not so welcome, and the price is too high.
Breakfast is good. The tourist shop is good. The location has plenty of nature to enjoy. The room contained plenty of space for our two young children. To get to anywhere else, you will need to do some significant driving. There is not much in the direct vicinity of the hotel. We didn't have hot water for a couple of days but the problem was fixed.
Far prefer gudvangen to other areas like Flam or Voss. Great location for kayaking, hiking or to do the main fjord four. This is the only hotel there and very small town. Tons of tour groups come through in the morning and afternoon but it is nice and quiet in the evenings. The staff was very accommodating and helpful and all spoke great English. Had a fire going in the dining hall and the euro cup on for everyone to watch. The room itself was superb. Love the Viking decor and grass covered roof. Wifi did not work Food available later in the evening (when my boat arrived) was very limited Note that it is light most of the day in Norway in the summer and the window doesn't have a covering
I arrived at the Flam Train station in the evening time when buses were not running. All of the taxi services refused to pick me up. When I called the Gudvangen Fjordtell, Olaf was quick to offer assistance. He sent one of the hotel workers to come pick me up from the train station, free of charge. The entire staff is very generous and accommodating. Also - the hotel is conveniently located at the Gudvangen port and is surrounded by beautiful landscape! I would highly recommend anyone visiting the Flam/Gudvangen area to stay at this hotel!!!
Good food and service. Excellent location with comfortable rooms. No TV or phones in the rooms.
The view Not having hot water for a decent shower after a long traveling day was very disappinting. Not having hot water the next morning was even more disappointing and ennoying. The staff claimed that this is due to a Korean group who are taking long showers but even two hours after they had left there were no hot water. There was no manager in sight to complain.
the staff were very lovely and friendly. The room was beautiful with a great view over the fjord. Was in a great location for exploring Flam.
The view on the mountains The door to the room gets locked only in 1.5 min after you close the door
Very friendly staff, great clean room with awesome view.Breakfast was delicious.
Hotel was located right next to the harbour and station terminus so easy to access main attractions. Restaurant was open only until 8pm and did not have a written menu. The choice of meals was poor - indeed no choice - and the prices charged exhorbitant.
great views of the fjords, 5 min walk to the ferry and the train. very comfortable setup. highly recommend these apartments
Way more charming than luxury hotels around and very confortable. It seems that it was by far the best place to stay in Flam. The view on the fjord was amazing.
Great location and outstanding views. Staff not that helpful. Cafe overpriced and not that good.
The location is truely this hotels strong point. Overlooks the fjiord and some of the most beautiful scenery in Norway. Room was small. Drain in the bathroom sink was broken, no facecloths. No phones in rooms. No elevator and we were on the third floor.
The view from this hotel is incredible! We did the Norway in a nutshell tour from Bergen to Oslo and chose to stay here and we are so happy we did. Beautiful views, lovely historic hotel and the loveliest lounge to enjoy a drink before bed. No WiFi in the rooms.
The Stalheim was amazing! It felt genuine and historic. I imagine it is just how it has always been. The grounds were beautiful with many nearby hikes. The view was incredible and I felt so at home in the guest lounge. There were multiple fireplaces. The staff was very kind and helpful. There is a buffet that has so many nicely prepared items. My room was the cutest room I've ever stayed in in my life. Straight out of another era. I enjoyed the big antique bathtub. At some times the hotel and restaurant became very crowded with tourists that arrived on a bus. I found some of them rude at the buffet. This was not the hotel's fault. Other times, it felt like there were only a few guests. I preferred those times.
Absolutely fantastic location, very friendly staff & cottage we stayed in was having good enough facilities.
Very wonderful hotel and peaceful place.
I liked the great location just on the water, the flavor of tradition and simple, "old style" ways still present there. Excellent hospitality, extremely nice hosts. To the warmth of the place contribued the beautiful, friendly cat of the owners.
Location - very beautiful view on fjord.
It was great! We stayed so close to the sea that we actually could open the living room window and fish:)
Very clean. Food was fantastic. Staff were helpful. Also, could not beat the view. If you enjoy small towns and great views, this is the place for you. The price was pretty high considering we had to share a bathroom and shower with others on the floor. Since the town is so small, they definitely have you trapped for their $35 dinner, but the food was great.
This place is a 200 year old cabin with several rooms in a wonderful location. You have the mountains right in your backyard and a view of the stream from the kitchen. The staff was nowhere to be seen during my stay. The staircase to go upstairs is tiny but then again it's an old old cabin. The walk to the cabin is inconvenient as you have to walk on a dirt road. Not suitable for suitcases.
For the value of money, it's the best stay in Flam. The other hotels were so overpriced. Flam Hostel is basic but sufficiently comfortable for a night's stay. Bathroom is clean and modern. Did not expect a hostel to be this high quality probably because we never stayed in a hostel before. All the other hotels in Flam were fully booked.
Awesome location. The view from our room was beautiful. The host spoke very little English and/or was extremely shy. As a result, the welcome we received was minimal. We got little to no help or advice concerning the area, activities (lack of). The room and the breakfast were very basic and totally lacking any kind of charm considering the price we paid. This hotel's only asset is the view of the fjord.
