Pros: Very attractive decor, bedroom and en-suite bathroom both thoughtfully equipped and spotlessly clean. Excellent breakfast, delightful hosts.
Cons: It couldn't have been better.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was great for our purposes - close to the main road but you feel like you are tucked away in the country. Seven Sisters (Birling Gap) is only 20 minutes drive, and worth seeing. Several restaurants close by. The bathroom was designed beautifully. The room was clean and we were given access to a fridge, milk, coffee, tea, etc. The room was large enough to store luggage and sit to do desk work. The highlight for us was the breakfast - absolutely outstanding food. The hosts were very helpful and interesting people.
Cons: Some might say the entrance is a little difficult to spot from the road, but I think that is what gives this place its secluded charm. It wasn't that difficult to spot and once you learn where it is it is not a problem. I am really scraping the bottom of the barrel to find something to say here, because the overall experience was outstanding.

Pros: It´s situated within a short walking distance to the sea as well as to the shops and restaurants. We got a double room with quite a small bed the first night. As we are no teenagers any more, we complained and the owners changed it to a bigger room with a better bed for the next night and everything was just fine. Loud applause to Tony and his wife!
Cons: The smell of bacon in the room when they started to cook bereakfast.

Pros: Friendly welcome and comfortable room

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful proprietors.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent selection of hot meals individually cooked on request. The usual fayre of cereals, yoghurts, preserves and fresh fruit but beautifully presented, well labelled. Howard even came along after breakfast to ask if everything was ok. Catherine served the food in a timely fashion and was very attentive to all the guests needs, it felt like a mother hen protecting her brood. Superb service. The room was warm, clean, bright with a lovely en-suite with a powerful shower. The area is quiet and the bed comfortable which gave us a very good nights sleep. Our room was at the back of the property so the view was not the best, but rooms at the front would overlook the Redoubt and the sea. Walk from the guest house and within 30 seconds you are on the promenade with a walk to brush away the cobwebs. Eastbourne at it's best and we will stay here again. Thanks Catherine and Howard
Cons: WE ONLY STAYED FOR ONE NIGHT!

Pros: Everything. We liked it so much we booked in for a second night. Both bedrooms were large and sunny. The first bedroom we stayed in had a very good view of the bay and sea. Beds very comfortable with luxurious, fresh smelling bed linen. The chocolates and sweets in the room and offer of lemon drizzle cake on arrival made it more special. Breakfast cooked by Hayley was very tasty, especially the sausage and golden yolk egg. Hayley and Jon were very friendly and accommodating hosts. Thank you both for our lovely stay.

Cons: Host Jon was very informative and friendly but would have preferred a bit of space while eating breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Jon and Hayley were very friendly, lovely room but had to mind head as loft room, we feel that perhaps room should be a single instead of a double and then they wouldn't have to leave silly glow in the dark signs. Room not for purpose really!

The room was amazing spotlessly clean very modern , good selection of hot drinks we asked for more tea bags and they happily obliged. Breakfast was amazing nowadays a breakfast can look good but little taste, but a Ravilious breakfast was so tasty mushrooms delicious ,and the eggs Benedict was the best compliments to the chef and all so friendly nothing to much trouble , THANK YOU for a great stay xx

Pros: The owners and the staff are magnificent hosts Breakfast is excellent and the location is perfectly central.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable room which was very clean throughout. The owner was exceptionally helpful about where to visit and telling us about eating places- which were excellent.
Cons: It would have been really nice to have a friendly welcome instead of being asked to “settle up” as soon as we got there. ( This was not the owner who opened the door to us) We had a case and bags in our hands and we usually pay at the end of our stay not as soon as we arrive.

Pros: Jenny & Ian were amazing hosts. From the greeting we received when we munched a gorgeous, freshly cooked lunch to when we arrived with our super heavy bag which Ian carried up to our room for us, nothing was too much trouble. The little touches in the room, bottled water, fresh leaf tea ready for the boiling water, the gorgeous crisp bed linen, the amazing view from our window and the recommendation to have dinner at The Bulls Head across the road - all demonstrated a professionalism that was exemplary. Our breakfast was wonderful and Ian didn't mind "nuking" my fried egg as per my request. I would recommend this very highly. Excellent experience.

Pros: Lovely place with some added extras giving it a first class feel. Staff very well mannered, excellent service. Soft furnishings were very good quality. Breakfast was lovely.
Cons: The TV in my single room wasn't working properly and the remote control was difficult to work as the numbers and letters had worn off. The proprietor did fix it but wasn't aware that it only had a couple of channels viewable. However I am sure it would have been addressed had I bothered to go and tell them again.

Pros: Great location, close to the promenade and bandstand. Friendly family run hotel with well equipped bedrooms.
Cons: There is plenty of roads around in which to park, it is just down to luck as to how close you are able to get!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We arrived at 7pm to a lovely friendly lady, shown our room (Beatrice) and breakfast choices were explained. The room was very clean, small but quirky. The bed very comfy, shower room small but serviceable, hot water at all times. Tea, coffee, biscuits in room and a mini fridge too. The breakfast was very very tasty and with a choice of cereal, yoghurts and fruit. Very friendly towards us the 2 nights we stayed. Other guests were lovely too. Run by a lovely family. Would recommend and we will return.
Cons: This isnt a dislike but the towels could of done with being bigger. Lol
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Leopold room was very spacious and very clean. The owners provided added extras that was a bonus. The breakfast was fantastic and the staff were all very friendly and always called me and my wife by our first names which was a nice touch. I had a long chat with the owner Jose and found what a very pleasant person he was . Top marks for everything. A brilliant place to stay.
Cons: Parking is an issue as the roads around it are always packed but Jose even solves that too as we were given parking permits on the days we couldnt find a space and parked on the seafront 100 yards away.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The guest house was conveniently located for the sea front and town centre with free car parking available in the nearby streets. The room was very well appointed with high standards of furniture and fittings and well stocked light refreshment facilities. Very good supply of coat hangers in the wardrobe which many hotels often fail to provide. We particularly liked the option to choose what we wanted for breakfast the following morning. The breakfast menus offered fruit including fresh strawberries as well as cereals and the cooked breakfast portions were just right. Overall we rate the Albert & Victoria very highly and one of the best hotels / guest houses we have stayed at in Eastbourne
Cons: No dislikes

Pros: Vicky and Dave were welcoming, attentive and very easy to get on with. We could come and go as we pleased through our own door, had our own spacious sitting/dining room and our own staircase. Breakfasts were brilliant and Vicky was very accommodating re gluten-free food. All in all it was a very relaxing stay.

Pros: The owner are very warmhearted, the hotel is a family hotel, but it can be compared with Novotel in London! When next time I pick up my daughter from the Internat,I will stay here once again! And the hostess cooked much more breakfast than we can bea to eat,I feel very sad that my stomach is so small, sorry and thanks once again!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent B and B in a lovely location. Hosts were very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and comfortable and it was good to have an additional sitting room for guests. Breakfast was a very convivial affair with other guests around a large communal table and the food was very good indeed.
Cons: A very minor point, but it would be good to have a shaving mirror in the ensuite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A lovely B & B set in a wonderful location, with fantastic & friendly hosts too (Vicky & Dave.) We had a very comfortable room with the added bonus of a fridge! You have a good choice of breakfast to set you up for the day....loved the freshness of the eggs especially! The Farmhouse grounds are very tranquil and you really do feel very much at ease (relaxing.) I suppose an unexpected bonus was finding the local small railway station at Berwick (just a short drive away.) We basically parked the car up there each day and then travelled out to such places such as Lewes, Brighton and Eastbourne. No worry about parking the car at your chosen destination and the trains were very punctual too.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Excellent breakfast.
Cons: Were woken up by alarm going off on two nights, room was only made up on one occasion, presumably because we had not left the door open as a signal we wanted it made up.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing breakfast. Continental followed by an a la carte cooked breakfast. Great salmon and eggs. The bed was the best bed I have ever come across in a hotel or airbnb in all my years of travel. Maybe because it was the same brand as ours at home! Feather pillows and linen were perfect. Wartling House has a superb garden and most rooms I believe look out over it. We were made to feel at home. Our hostess is full of useful information if you ask.
Cons: Nothing. Even the English weather behaved beautifully!

Pros: Very clean and close to the seafront. Breakfast was excellent and good choices. My wife is vegan and was very well catered for. Karen and Mike are very friendly and helpful. This is an excellent B & B and highly recommend it as a lovely place to stay. We would definitely return.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was perfect for walks along seafront. With the marina to the left and the town centre and pier to the right. Room was very clean and neat and tidy. The decor was very nice too. There was ample choice for breakfast .cereals ,fruit and yoghurt. There was also a choice of cooked breakfast which included vegetarian sausages. The breakfast was cooked well and was very tasty. I would highly recommend this as a place to stay. The owners were very friendly, helpful and informative.
Cons: If i had to be picky, towel rail in ensuite was scorching hot, both of us on first day burnt our arms on it. From then on we just made sure towels fully covered it.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: This is a very friendly run guest house where the hosts have obviously given a good deal of thought to its decor. The choice at breakfast is good - we especially loved the fresh fruit. The guest house is about 10-15 minute walk to Eastbourne Pier and the centre but there are bus stops right outside. We caught the X53 which runs via Bexhill to Hastings and that makes for a good day out. Our bedroom was a decent size although it was strange to have a washbasin in the room and separate to the bathroom. This was not a problem and it reflects the fact that it is a Victorian building and this clearly limits the changes that can be made.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect place, rooms are beautiful, Mark and Karen (owners) are very welcoming and friendly, breakfast freshly cooked
Cons: nothing to complain about all perfect

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The guesthouse has a great location at the beach front only minutes away from the pier. Duncan is a great host who greets you with a very warm welcome and you feel that he and his partner genuinely care about their guests. That also shows in the rooms. The room I booked was small but nevertheless very light and really lovely furnished. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was spacious and modern with high-quality equipment. Definitely more luxurious than several bathrooms in this price range that I have seen in the UK. Room and bathroom were spotlessly clean and there were many little details like a bottle of water and some biscuits that made my stay very pleasant. In the morning you can have a freshly prepared full English breakfast and/or choose from a variety of cereals. Overall it shows that the owners do their job with passion and want their guests to have a good time. I can absolutely recommend the Beach Front Guesthouse!

Pros: The beautiful house and garden is in a lovely, quiet location. Our room was full of character, spotless and had a large comfy bed. Lovely hosts and a truly first class breakfast made it the perfect place to stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfasts were delicious, varied choice and well presented. Location good for touring the area. Good National Trust places fairly close. Bateman's, Rudyard Kiplings home delightful. Bodium Castle and the Tenterden Steam Railway line also not too far. Beautiful countryside and excellent eating places within the village of Herstmonceux.
Cons: It was all good, could not fault anything. We had the balcony room which overlooked the beautiful countryside. Gardens well kept. Hospitality excellent.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely nothing lacking
Cons: There was nothing we didn't like
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely location and great hosts
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Het uitzicht. De stilte en het ontbijt. The view, the silence and off course the breakfast
Cons: Nothing Niks
5.0 Okay
Pros: Area and 500 year old house look fantastic. Parking easy.
Cons: 70 year olds had to lie flat on the floor to turn on power for bedside lights. Heating on so we had to open very old windows in a gale that allowed a swarm of crane flies in. Very small bedroom and bathroom with heavy bedding.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Lovely house and location and a wonderful breakfast ! We enjoyed very much our visit to the Observatory at Herstmonceux which was the reason for the visit. Weather super too. We loved the balcony room.
Cons: The bed in the "French" bedroom was apparently a bit short for our son.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: breakfast very good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was a friendly atmosphere and nothing was too much to ask for.
Cons: There was nothing that springs to mind.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very cosy place and lovely views of the countryside. Great that our pet dog could join us too. The breakfast was excellent and very good quality produce- well presented and choices available to suit all.
Cons: Not a dislike but a note that a car would be needed in order to get around. However a lovely place makes it worth it.

Pros: Di and her team were really friendly. Food was tasty too. Highly recommended stop for all cycling folk
Cons: The weather.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were really friendly and nothing was a problem
Cons: Parking was limited
6.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast was fine, but would have preferred to have had a glass for my orange juice rather than a plastic one. Surely not a shortage of glasses in a pub!
Cons: Dust on the table lamp that hadn't been cleaned in quite a while. A large ornate lamp on the ceiling over the bed, very nice, except it was poorly fitted and semi-held in place with several pieces of decorators tape! Looked very shoddy and surely not safe.
5.4 Okay
Pros: The room was spacious and clean and there was plenty of hot water.
Cons: The beds were fine although the sofa-bed didn't have a mattress cover on it - just a sheet. The carpet has an iron burn - which was pointed out to us by staff when we checked in. The pub was unpleasant - ripped/worn sofas and a lingering cooking oil smell and a sad grimy feel. The room backed on to the town's supermarket carpark, which was dirty. The industrial bins were emptied in the small hours - it would have been so helpful to have been warned - not a lovely way to be startled out of sleep. It was not expensive - we didn't book breakfast and would not have eaten in there even if we'd already paid for it. We asked for a blanket/covers as it was chilly and no heating was on or available (seasons changing) and were given a horrid duvet, described as 'lumpy'. The duvet cover was clean or something would have been said at the time. The tea/coffee things were not replenished and the cups not changed.
6.0 Good
Pros: Good breakfast, room was adequate and able to please ourselves. Tea and coffee facilities in room plus hairdryer. En-suite was adequate
Cons: Bathroom and bedroom could have cleaner. Situated on busy high street above pub, noisy after closing hours and cars driving past
5.8 Okay
Pros: Not up to travel lodge premier inn standard but convienent location
Cons: No walk in shower bed ok but could be better. Needs modernising
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great staff, excellent service. Add on breakfast was a bonus, and very generous!
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: It was nothing like we were believed to have purchased. Very shocked it is nothing like they advertisements . Perfect location for a getting drunk in the very loud bar underneath you then going to bed. But we where attending a wedding so were disappointed in the information given by the venue. Otherwise we wouldn’t have booked this hotel.
7.1 Good
Pros: The rooms where nice and clean and the breakfast was really good.
Cons: the pub part of The Corn Exchange was really shabby and the decor and furniture was really rough!
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Leaving
Cons: The staff were rude, the rooms were clean but many things were broken. The decor was dated and furniture was tired. There was also a light fixture completely exposed with no bulb which is a bit dangerous above sink in a bathroom. We had to pay for an early check in even though I asked for one 3 months earlier and was told it wouldn’t be a problem. And then we couldn’t even check in!

2.0 Mediocre
Pros: We travelled for 3 hours as I was meeting my birth mum for the 1st time so was very nervous ! We booked the horseshoe as was near where we was meeting and pictures looked good ! The place is very tired and didn’t look that inviting as doors where dirty and every thing felt sticky including tables at breakfast !! When we arrived. We was given room key and we went up to room again all doors looked like they could do with good clean and paint !!our room was ok but the window cell had about 20 dead bugs which wasn’t a great start we got a tissue and removed them as that was last thing on my mind with such a stressful day ahead when we left we told the reception staff who asked where bugs still there offcourse my reply was god no !! I advised that a house keeper had not been to check on that room for quiet some time there reply was just am sorry
