Gem in Hakone
This hotel is a short easy bus ride from the Hakone-Yumote train station. The Togendai bus stop is right next to the hotel - which provides easy access to tourists stops and shoppes near the train station. The hotel itself has a boutique vintage feel, however the location next to the river is stunning. I had a room on the top floor, which had a wonderful view of the lush green mountain side and suspension bridge, with the flowing river below. There is a public bath - male and female separate. There are designated public and private hours, however every time I used it during my stay - no other guests were there. There is also access to use the neighboring hotel's bath - which I did not use. Overall, I was a solo female traveller in my 20s. I would recommend this hotel for its location, friendly staff, and wonderful Japanese breakfast. However, in terms of visiting Hakone - consider staying 1 night and day to see Mt. Fuji and try hot springs. If you are not in your 40s or older - there is not much to do, especially if you are young and active. I will plan on returning, however once I am older and wiser :)
