The hot spring
Too far from the nearest convenient store, no restaurant in the hotel
In house onsen was a bonus that we weren't expecting.
Staff weren't overly attentive, and one in particular was quite gruff, which we found highly unusual during our entire three week trip throughout Japan.
Very spacious accommodation. Great sea view from balcony. Onsen clean and relaxing. Wonderful tranquil location and well situated 2 minutes walk from Naka Gora tram stop.
Kitchen poorly equipped with no plates or utensils.
Clean comfortable futon. Quiet environment. Would have been a great location if the ropeway was running.
Onsen was extremely hot in the morning. No restaurants in its vicinity.
Since you can book an entire 6 persons room for the same as a 2 person room, this is a really good place for large families or group of friends. You get a small apartment with two rooms in japanese style, but if you're not travelling in a big group it is not worth it and you should really upgrade to the original Yutorelo-an and spend the extra 10-20$ pr night. Else you should go for a hotel with a better location, I recommend Hotel Ra Kuun which has the best Onsen and is located a short walk from Lake Ashi and cost about the same.
Don't book this place if you wanna go to a decent Onsen, their Onsen is really just a dirty hot-tub with no view. Don't book this place if you don't have the Hakone freepass, we'll have to take the cablecar and local train to get near any restaurants and stores. For both location and Onsen I recommend Hotel Ra Kuun. If you still consider this hotel take a look at the original Yutorelo-an and spend the extra 10-20$ pr night for much more luxery.
With a stay at Yutorelo-an ANNEX in Hakone (Gora), you'll be within a 5-minute drive of Hakone Kowakien Yunessun and Hakone Open Air Museum. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services and laundry facilities. A train station pick-up service is provided at no charge, and free self parking is available onsite.
