Pros: Situated in a small and cute fishing village and near the ferry, this is a great place to spend a few days. The views from the patio / balcony were great and I even got to see the Northern lights a bit in the evening. You have to call Rebecca (the host) once you arrive and she will come by to show you the room. She was very friendly and we had a bit of chat. There is a large common / dining area and a fully equipped kitchen for all the guests. I believe fishing boats are also available to rent when in season.
Cons: This is actually a con for the previous guests as they didn't clean a few of the utensils. If you are stayin here and cooking, please clean the utensils after you are done as it is a shared kitchen.
Pros: We had a warm welcome there! Everything pretty clean and you can feel like being home! The comunity kitchen is well equipped with everything you need! From the balcony you have a wonserful view over the fjord! We´ll come back!
Pros: Really nice owner! She accommodated our late arrival due to driving from Tromso in a blizzard. She spoke perfect English and was really fun to talk to. She told us a lot about the local area and Norwegian history. She told us about the ugly fish that can still bite your hand off after they are dead ---it was the best story ever! The shared full kitchen, dining area and living room were great. We also spent some time talking with a staff member and watching Norwegian handball. We went to a local grocery store a few minutes down the road and cooked fish cakes in the kitchen. It was about an hour from Tromso and we had to drive back early the next morning with it still snowing heavily for a whale tour, but it was so worth it to see how people live out in the fjords. We were amazed to see all the children walking to school bus stops with reflective gear on in the dark and in a snow storm. It was also nice to see all of the beautiful homes lit up with stars and Christmas lights in the windows. Our room had a deck with a view of the ocean that would be amazing in the summer. There was also a bar-b-que hut out by the water that she said we could use, but we didn't have enough time. I'm sure this would also be a great place to see the northern lights, but unfortunately it snowed the entire time we were there. The WiFi worked good and the password was posted. The bathroom was nice and new with heated floors. The bed was comfortable and he room was decorated nicely. Everything was clean and well organized.
Pros: The location was excellent with great views. Facilities in the room and the common areas were great too.
Cons: Only thing which was only during our stay was that there was still a lot of the rooms being built/redeveloped and on the monday morning the work started quite early which meant we were woken up earlier than we were planning.
Pros: Clean rooms and communal area, which has all necessary utensils one needs incl a well-stocked cupboard of stocks and basic condiments so ideal for self catering. Once at the location (and if you ignore the condition of the grounds) it is a lovely island with lazy drives, local hiking, next to the ferry to cross to local islands for further hiking. Staff are helpful and generous, and this place is built for fishing groups as this is what the location facilities specialise in. A few fishing groups were on site and they were in their element with good catches! Great for a detour from busy city life and enjoying some Norwegian Friluftsliv.
Cons: Hansnes seems closer on paper than reality. It's a long drive with much of the speed limit at 60km/h with narrow winding roads. There are a lot of building materials lying around which makes an otherwise picturesque location look untidy and unfinished. The loose ceiling fan needs to be fixed.
Pros: This was an excellent choice for us, we wanted to see the Midnight Sun. The host was very kind, gave us good tips where to go! Even suggested the ferry which is free if you go without a car. Nice trip, great tip! The room was warm and clean, the kitchen and lounge was well equipped and very comfy. Thank you for the pleasant stay!
Cons: There was nothing we didn`t like. Everything was as described, very good value for money. There is a shop nearby, not open Sundays though. The ferry is very close, but for us this was a pro, we enjoyed watching them come and go. If I booked this accomodation again, which I plan in the future, I would definately hire a car.
