The surroundings were beautifull and the studio apartment was excellent and to a very high standard.
The location and queitness. The relaxation chairs in the studio.
The lodge No
location to motorway check out at 10am considering we could not get into our room til 3pm
The value for money - the room was like an exclusive home from home and ideally located for our trip
The setting was beatifull and the cabins were of a high quality The cabaret entertainment seemed to be geared towards families with children
Children able to use bikes as car owners very observant of 10 mile an hour law Reception tried to charge double for stay ad unable to realise computer error
The resort was amazing
We lved everything!!! Absolute bargain, hihgly recommended.
warm in lodge, staff in hotel, spacious in lodge, very clean no heat in bathroom, no entertainment on a sat evening
helpful staff and delicious breakfast pity there was no on-site parking, but the Parksafe park was very handy and reasonably priced
The hotel was ideally situated, and the room had been fitted out beautifully. Whilst in the shower, the hot light fitting fell out of the celing on to my husband's chest. Upon reporting this to staff, there was no apology.
We thought the staff were all very pleasant, friendly and helpful. The room was wonderful and big as was the bed. It has a really nice relaxing atmosphere and we'll definitely recommend and come back.
The room was delightful and in the attic!
We stayed in the executive suite and it was great. Particluarly like the small touches, such as fresh coffee and a cafetiere in our bedroom. The breakfast was excellent.
Everything. The room was lovely, well appointed and cared for, the breakfasts were delicious! I had just found out that my painful 'sprain' was a broken leg(!) and they could not have been more kind and helpful no
Nice bar and food, staff very friendly Bit noisy in the street below (central location)
Room and breakfast
Decor of room excellent, breakfast very good. Car parking nightmare & not adequately explained. Unacceptable to have to leave room to keep'moving' car - paying considerable parking, walking distances in rain etc. Room also way toohot with noobvious means of cooling - windows not opening.
Staff were professional and friendly. May be as a minor point put some 'night service' on as we couldnt get a drink after 9.00pm as the bar was too busy.
Very handy for the university. Nothing that I did not like.
Supremely comfortable bed gave us the best nights sleep in ages! The walls are "paper" thin and noisy if other guests choose to be a bit loud; the bathrooms need a makeover now
No problems at all; only stayed overnight. Some people may think new restaurant is a little like a cafe, rather than an exclusive hotel facility. However, no adverse comment from us.
Our sat nat kept giving us the wrong Green Lane in Lancaster. The night porter gave us very clear directions to the hotel and was very welcoming when we arrived. We only stayed one night arriving very late but the food. ambience and service at breakfast was excellent.
Ease of finding it Restaurant is poor, menu is the worst I have encountered in a 4* establishment. Bar and restaurant prices inflated (£4.55 regular glass of house wine, £26 for 3 course basic menu that was almost inedible). Noise levels through the night into early morning (0500) from their outside hot tub area. Do you want anything else?
Fantastic breakfast, great location, just generally a good experience. The only complaint we have is about the evening meal - the dish wasn't as explained by the waiter and the service was slow. In addition, it wasn't good value for money.
Pretty designed Country Hotel with sufficient spaces and comfort. Entrance hall and bar very convenient, especially open fire place. Meantime the hotel starts to suffer from lack of maintanence; i.e. hall door closes with hard bang, entrance doors very narrow, don´t open automatically, difficult to enter with luggage, interior should be improved to keep 4star category.
I thought the breakfast was excellent, in all aspects, as good as I have ever experienced. Neither my wife or I slept at all during the night, due to an exceptionally loud snorer in the adjacent room, so I would have to say the sound insulation between bedrooms was totally inadequate. This coloured our view of the hotel, to the extent that we would probably not take the chance again. Unfortunate, since everything else was good.
The friendlyness and helpfulness of the staff,it was also easy to find and a very relaxing break.
Room and View Bedroom a bit to warm
Room and views were excellent clean and had amazing views The shower was underpowered had my head on the soap dish wasing my hair !
The staff were friendly, shown up to room, clean and comfortable, nice touches, china mugs, bottled water, bath robes Lovely view across the estuary. Very good food.
The view from the room was fantastic and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly Despite staying in a deluxe room, it was quite small and as it was at the top of the building, it was cold, although we were provided with a heater, which was on a lot of the time!
Room excellant, staff very friendly, food very good. More choice for breakfast, full english good, but would have liked to have fruit in the morning for a choice.
Lovely location, very comfortable room and lovely food both in restaurant and at breakfast
We had a very pleasant stay. Rooms were very nice and kept spot on. Food was very good value, and we could start the day with a hearty breakfast. The entertainment on the Saturday night was a pleasant surprise. We would stay there again.
room was very comfortable and clean with excellent views over the estuary.breakfst was fantastic and food available in the bar of an evening was also very good.staff were very friendly and helpful. hotel in good location for the few sops and other pub,all within walking distance so i didnt need to use the car.there is also a good train service along the coast to all the other towns.
Situation of hotel excellant with lovely views and close proximity to railway station.Stayed in Lakeland room which had both front and side view of bay. Intended to eat in only 1 night and try the other pub in village however food so good and excellant value had dinner both nights of our stay.Stayed midweek therefore no problem with loud music as reported on Sat nights.(live bands) None for us but note they have live bands Sat nights (may be good or bad depending on your point of view) No lift so if this problem ask not to be on top floor (did not bother us).
Very friendley staff, wonderful meals, lovely room
E xtremley friendly staff good location the food was quite good None that we can think of
the room was very well decorated, the bed was comfortable. there was tea making facilities and a tv. the room was larger than we expected. the bathroom was very nicely decorated and very modern with lovely shower gels and moisturisers in proper bottles which were a lovely touch the only negative point was i felt they need a blind at the bathroom window as this is over the bath and shower. being on the ground floor it made you feel little exposed.
The friendly character of the place. Bathroom hadn't been cleaned properly.
the facilities are on par with and in some cases better than many top hotels. the food was probably the best I have had in any hotel I have stayed in and presented well. the staff also were excellent. 10/10. It was for buisness and not pleasure, otherwise I may have stayed longer.
Having read some of the mixed reviews beforehand, my two sisters and I weren't totally sure what to expect. The hotel, friendliness of staff, accommodation and food exceeded our expectations. They even had a quiz night on which was great fun. Would recommend this hotel and would definitely stay there again if in the area.
The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. The room was much larger than we expected, was well decorated and modern, and very clean.
Excellent accommodation, well looked after by Roy and Mel, would stay there again. 1st class breakfast.
The house was lovely. The room was very spacious, comfortable, clean and well furnished with a great en-suite. The breakfast was excellent with a good variety of options and plenty of fresh produce. The owners were very hospitable giving it a personal touch and gave us a good welcome on arrival. The house is very well situated not only for peaceful country walks and pubs (with excellent food) but also not far from Lake Windermere for activities and shopping. My wife Isobel and I had just spent 10 days staying in hotels in Windermere, mainland Scotland and the Wetsern Isles and this night at Capernwray House finished the holiday on a high.
Very warm welcome from the owner and hot drink offered on arrival. The room was excellent with good facilities, tastefully furnished, good quality fittings etc. Bathroom had lovely lotions etc. Excellent breakfast with one of the best bowls of fresh fruit we have ever had! Could not fault it. Will definately stay there again when in the area.
A good size, very clean room with air con which was great. Nice breakfast with good variety.
Clean with all amenities on site Some fittings, fixtures, etc in a state of disrepair. Length of time taken to answer complaints - request for IT support over 3 hours and request to housekeeping ignored.
gym expensive drinks
The staff could not provide adequate info. about places to visit such as Cotswold and how to get there.
the location and the view from the dining/breakfast area the staff lack of knowledge about places of interest in surrounding area
Ease of access to the city Shower curtains were not clean
Used en-route stop over driving to Scotland very convenient for motorway. Impersonal and characterless public areas. Buffet breakfast adequate; no better than the typical British hotel buffet. WiFi by third party supplier not value for money.
It was close to the centre, taxi into town in the evening was £5, there was adequate parking, the rooms were quite big and it was very comfortable.
location there was a two month old newspaper under he bed
Clean, modern, spacious and quiet. For £85 per night for an 'executive' room, we expected a double bed rather than two singles and there was no hot water in the morning.
Recently refubished, lovely atmosphere, combines the good points of staying in a pub and staying in an hotel. My reservation didn't seem to be there at check-in, but appeared later. However this was not a problem.
Great location, good atmosphere, great food, nice warm room and friendly staff. Adjacent to our room there was a noisy boiler/heating system which woke us very early.
Friendly staff Good food Nice room A lot of road traffic noise
Exceptional location and attention from the sdtaff None - the road works outside were beyond your control [and aere an overall benifit to the area]
Lovely b&b, rooms very clean and breakfast very tasty. I booked a twin room, however we were given a double, I advised we had booked a twin and they gave us our own room at no extra cost.
Its location was just what I wanted, being in the middle of the village and it offered car parking. The pub is old fashioned and had some wonderful features, it also had a nice bar with real ales which is something that I would look for in similar establishments. The room was available on our arrival which was also a bonus as we did arrive early. The food was nice and we ate in a nice dinning room away from the other side of the pub, it was warm, private, quiet also an added bonus. Otherwise there was the bar area which had a nice fire but was a bit busy if you wanted a quiet meal. The food itself was good, served well and hot, overall enjoyable and good value meal. The breakfast was also good, not over the top but ample for the type of acc It was a noisy hotel, when someone else showered the noise from the extractor or pump was really loud and would have woken anyone up; it was almost like a compressor. The noise from the bar at night was also quite loud, with some bad language (not good for young children) which could be heard in the early hours of the morning in the courtyard. I do realise that this is a country pub so its kind of to be expected in a way as the pub is in the centre of a village and its used well be the locals who keep it open. I did mention the noise from the showers and the courtyard to the manager who did agree with me about the noise, saying that he had also struggled to sleep a little but did say that he had a meeting with a senior executive.
the hot toddies and the lovely open fire. The breakfast and the service were top class. The friendly and helpful staff.
The food was great Parking was a bit of a walk
The room had been well modernised and teh staff were freindly and helpful.
install a proper heatingsystem and I might come back! Room too cold and not clean
Interior design of bedroom POsition (on busy road)
very nice neat and clean room with all modern amenities, very comfortable beds, very good bath room, overall it was a pleasure in staying there. nothing
Excellent stay and unexpectedly good. Nicely renovated good breakfast and brilliant value for money
Very pleasant room and excellent food
nice room Very noisy, being opposite Revolution bar/club so definitely can't recommend. Also, alot of noise within the hotel itself the night we stayed.
Good modern rooms linked to pleasant bar area and restaurant. Excellent helpful staff
modern, comfortable place, relaxed atmosphere
The room and the service. The shared breakfast table with other guests.
We liked the lovely decor throughout this beautiful house, the toilietries and the quality products in the room. Our room was very small and the en suite was really small.
Very friendly staff, gorgeous rooms and surrounding locations. Good selection of breakfasts; made to feel very welcome. Would definitely recommend. Very quiet place to visit but many surrounding villages.
Everything. The rooms were very comfortable and luxurious, the staff were very friendly, the breakfasts were excellent and the location was beautiful.
Happy friendly owner. Nice comfortable room. Good breakfast. Lounge and dining area make it seem like home from home. Long climb to entrance (not suitable for people with walking difficulties)
A very warm welcome on our arrival , greeted with fresh coffee & scones.staff were 100% friendly. will book again soon.
We had a fabulous stay at No 43 and we're already planning our next visit. The staff were friendly and helpful, the accommodation was first class, the food was delicious and all the extra special touches such as tea and cake on arrival made us feel really at home.
We spent a very good night in this excellent, nice and very clean hotel The owner was not here went we came at 9pm and impossible to reach by phone, but despite that all wen ok after somebody from the nearest pub reached her
Excellent service and little added extras made all the difference, staff friendly and whole village welcoming None whatsoever only bad point was coming home
Where to begin? James & Co. are really doing an amazing job. The other reviews aren't exaggerations; this place is simply wonderful. Pity that we won't be back to Lancaster again soon. Interesting beer from HRH The Prince of Wales. Good English wine and conversation. Tea with fresh scones and cream when we arrived one Friday morning a few weeks ago... Wo anzufangen? James & Co. machen wirklich erstaunlich. Dog somewhat easily distracted. At some times, some of the chickens weren't immediately visible from the room window. Der Hund lässt sich leicht ablenken. Manchmal waren manche der Hühner nicht sofort zu sehen vom Zimmerfenster.
So welcoming . great food and atmosphere and service great bed and bathroom None
A first class personal service, comfortable beds and excellent breakfasts and dinner
The hosts, the food and the attention to detail for comfort.
the decor was exceptional, the food excellent, the welcome very friendly no!
the service was impecible, the staff very friendly, and the overall experience was fantastic
just excellent in every way : room, breakfest
peace and quiet - easy access to Lancaster and district
The location, of course, and the genuinely helpful staff
food fantastic, staff brilliant room neds freshening up, a l;ittle drab, but didnt spoil our stay
The hotel is a grand old bulding in a lovely location. Staff work hard to please. The Falcon is tired and needs a facelift. Its staff also seem tired! and work hard to provide a decent service but seem to be struggling. Restaurant service was poor; dinner cuisine was average. our experience was lifted by being allocated a handsome and spacious four-poster bedroom at regular rate which made our stay enjoyable above all!
Food was not enjoyable and the staff on duty for the evening meal were grumpy. Too many supplement prices on the menu.
very small and cramped room, restaurant staff were inexperienced
The whole of our stay was excellent. The owners and staff made us feel very welcome. The meals and accomodation were first class. We look forward to staying again.
good size room good breakfast staff and breakfast had a very cold shower
Food was nice Very dated decor and terrible shower, no water pressure and no hot water for an evening shower.
The hotels location is very good and we particularly enjoyed the food which was excellent. Unfortunately the room was only average even though there were few other guests at the time of our stay. The room was dissapointing and insufficiently heated at a vey cold time. Room comfort is essential for the time of year.
The 4-poster bed was a surprise. the room was great and the food godd and also cheap. Slightly scruffy parts to the room, but only fair wear and tear really.
The location - excellent for walkng into the surrounding area Run down, more of a pub with rooms, in need of full refurbishment, bored staff, dirty room, decoration peeling off, mould in bath sealant, the worst value for money hotel I've stayed in. should be £50 tops
Generally very good, good location, friendly and helpful staff and nice room and good food and beer!
The effort of the owners and their communication of their staff. The hotel is also adjacent worderful walking country
I was there for a specific purpose and, hence, necessity G&T was £3.10. Ouch!
The relaxing atmosphere. Nothing.
The situation The decor was very tired and dated. The food was stuck in a time-warp and appeared to owe a lot to the microwave
location Room was a mismatch of colours carpet frayed not good value for money everything looks very tired and in need of new decoration and new bedlinen curtains etc
Staff were helpful and accommodating. Laid out very early breakfast for three Peaks walkers Expensive
Loved the sitting rooms with sofas and good quality board games and lots of books to read. Also the trouble taken to ensure we had suggestions for local walks with maps and guide books. Cramped bathroom.
the food was excellent hotel service was superb a very relaxing place to stay would reccomend it liked everything
Everything, food, staff hospitality, everything The food was excellent but slightly expensive
Friendly polite staff, fabulous location, beautiful decor and wonderful restaurant.
Comfortable and extremely clean. Excellent service from staff with exceptional attention to detail. Fabulous food. Just like staying with friends!
Staff very friendly and helpful. Hotel comfortable and homely, food excellent, lots of local and homemade produce, wine reasonably price and good choice of organic wines. Bowl of fruit, bottled water as well a range of different teas and fresh milk. Room in need of decoration, but we didn't have the room we had originally booked as we had to change our plans at the last minute. Ground coffee in the room but no peculator to make it in.
The interior of the hotel was fabulous! Very clean and luxurious. The bed was amazing, the most comfortable nights sleep I have had in a long time. Very expensive to eat or have a drink at the bar. I did book a superior room on the website only to be telephoned by the hotel to inform me that this was unavailable and would have to have a standard double. However, the standard double was perfectly acceptable and still luxurious.
very pleasant atmosphere-staff really helpful -food excellent-decor good-moulton brown toiletries bathroom small & bath could have done with replacement-
The food and service was outstanding based in an idyllic setting, perfect base for walking. The room was standard in terms of cleanliness and the shower room was somewhat cold
