Pros. While I hope people continue to ignore the remote beauty of Jambiani, the villas are a hidden treasure for those seeking secluded comfort. The staff should be paid even more as they offered exemplary service always offering a power adaptor or a Spanish omelette or recommendations for fishing. The chef even friend the fish I caught earlier in the day. The suites are quite spacious and comfortable. The pool the perfect way to end a day. I absolutely will stay here every year when I’m Zanzibar.
Cons. Even though I can’t think of anything I dislike, travelers should be aware Jambiani is a quiet, secluded fishing village and a solid 60-75 minutes from the airport. Taxi will cost $60-75 but the location and serenrity is so worth it.

What are the pros of staying at Jambiani Villas?
The villa was specious and clean. Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice accommodation and well organised. Beautiful villas, really helpful and lovely staff, amazing location on one of the best beaches in Zanzibar. Friendly staff, good breakfast, good location right on the beach. Nice view, beautiful decorated. Very good breakfast. The Villa is family friendly, clean and neat, having almost an entire kitchen is amazing. The entire hotel staff are super helpful and very easy to communicate with. A very relaxed place as they say in Zanzibar "pole pole". Beautiful setting, location, staff. Exceptional staff! From Daniel at the entrance to all the people in the restaurant. The 3 managers where so kind and approachable, easy to talk with. The whole place feels like a big family! It was so sad to leave Jambiani Villas. The service was good. The staff was very attentive and helped to schedule tours and both taxi rides (to and from the airport). We even had a problem with the airline when traveling back home and one of the hotel managers took her time to call the airport and ensure that all was fine, which was lovely and extra helpful of her. The rooms were very spacious, clean and well kept. There is AC and a fan which means that the rooms were constantly cold. The food was great and tasty, including the daily menus which are constantly changed and offer different meals. The pool was lovely and the beach front location is great. Place in Paradies. We stayed over one week with two kids end of may/beginning of June. Staff is wonderful, the house was perfect for us. A little kitchen and fridge was comfortable for preparing small snacks. The view in the morning, evening and all the daytime is amazing. Most of the time the beach is amazing!!! Just with very high tide around full moon you cannot enter it. The breakfast location is close and a short beautiful walk even through the village, if the beach is not accessible. 100% recommendation. Melissa and her team were extremely lovely, always helpful and the location was incredibly peaceful. A lovely and memorable stay! Just perfect, the location, huge house, the staff and the breakfast. Beautiful villa, very clean and comfortable. The staff is very nice and very flexible. We checked in at 11:00 instead of 14:00. The massage with the therapist is amazing. They organized for us the Blue Safari and the Dolphin tour and it was awesome. A beautiful property located on the beach of Jambiani, calm and relaxing vibe, very comfortable and spotless. View from the veranda is out of this world. Staff are polite, friendly and helpful. Fresh and tasty breakfast and delicious local food, that we tried at the Suahili night. Recommended 100%, thank you for the great stay we had with you. Jambiani Villas was a sweet sanctuary just as expected, and the helpful and lovely staff just made it even better! The shore was just a flight of stairs away from our 2-bedroom villa, and the pool was a great addition as well. The villa was clean and well-maintained, cleaning also available on a daily basis as needed. We had breakfast included which would mean fresh local juices, fruits, fish tartar, jams, and whatever we'd like from the chef - all really delicious! We also had dinner here multiple times, besides the a'la carte everyday they had a new menu up, with scrumptious delights! Really loved the Swahili night with the live music. All in all, we were satisfied with Jambiani Villas! Special thanks to Diana and Joseph on the reception, and all the staff on the kitchen for taking good care of our family during the 10 days we stayed here!
What are the cons of staying at Jambiani Villas?
It is not child friendly, there are no duvets in the room for cold nights. Food can be improved. As well as the bread toaster. Food could be improved. There's 3 locations, we stayed at the Kaskazi location which is a bit isolated. Our apartment was dark and the view was not great. Wifi was weak. The restaurant is below apartment, I think it is important to know that. Also the pool wasn't clean. Pool wasn't clean. I wouldn't swim in it. Cat on property became a nuisance, wants to always sneak into villa, and have to keep throwing it out. Whilst the property is A class, the beaches contain way too much seaweed, has spoilt the beaches value. You cannot swim in the water without getting seaweed tangled in your feet. Also too many people troubling on beach. Can't really just sit at the beach and relax. We didn't get what we paid for. At almost 230 USD a night we had high expectations. Unfortunately the hotel didn't meet our expectations. When we arrived the bathroom was smelly and the toilet didn't work. When we notified the next morning, they immediately started the repairs (without asking, so we were surprised to find the workers in the room when we wanted to get ready after breakfast). They managed to somehow fix the toilet so it was useable. However the smell persisted. Talking about smell: the beautiful outdoor terrace overlooking the pool and the beach seemed to be always covered with a (frying?) smell from the kitchen. Our hair smelled after just 10min sitting there. Don't even know how that's possible on an outdoor terrace. The room was missing a few other features that you would expect at 230 USD per night: some reading lamps at the bed and mosquito nets at the balcony doors, to allow to sleep with open windows. Breakfast was underwhelming. They served us old bread. The preparation of two fried eggs with grilled vegetables took half an hour, just to get the eggs served first and the grease covered (pan-fried?) vegetables almost 10min later covered in grease. The hotel has a little bit of false advertisement. The photos online show one of the three properties available, which is the main one - the one with the restaurant and the massive pool. However, our rooms were located in a secondary property, about 400m away. This meant that if we wanted to go to the restaurant we could walk either through the beach, or - if the tide was high - through town. The staff are very attentive and do offer to guide you when walking through town, but it is nonetheless an uncomfortable experience as it takes about 10 extra minutes and we did not book the rooms with this information at hand. They do offer room service for free, but the service is very very slow. We also had issues one night when the water was completely cut off from our room (no toilets, showers, etc) from about 10pm to 9am. When we communicated this to the staff, their response was that "we could've taken a shower on the main property" - which was quite frankly disappointing as that would have meant that we would've had to walk 400m just to take a shower in the restaurant's bathroom, which is not a service that reflects the prices we paid for the hotel. We didn't like that the stairs that go down to the beach were always occupied with people trying to aggressively sell something. My wife and daughter wanted to go to the beach every day we were there and only went once because of the aggressive sellers kept bothering them. Hot water supply is not stable, especially during night time. Not many options of restaurants due to low season. One burner on the stove did not work properly. The restaurant was in the other location 400 mt but no problem. Wifi was spotty and the access to the villa was difficult. However the beach side location was excellent. Not only it took guest managers several days to bother say hello to me, but only one did. And for several days all others just kept staring at me without saying a word. As if I didn't pay for my booking or something. I've never experienced this in my whole life. One even interrupted me while I was talking to some other guests at their table, to say hello and talk to them ONLY, while standing right upon my shoulder, made me feel so uncomfortable that I left the table. And when the next day she asked me how i was doing and how was my stay, and i explained her my feeling, she apologised of course, but as if I really was invisible she said she didn't notice me. Thank God this is not my 1st time in Zanzibar but this will definitely be my 1st and last time at this hotel. They really made me feel uncomfortable, and not welcome at all. Besides this, for those who would be travelling alone, if you get to stay where i was (where the restaurant is) the sunbeds are so close to the stairs to go to the beach that you hear all day long the people selling jewels talking as they spend the day on these stairs. Breakfast is good but way too salty. And it might be worth investing in service clamps instead of works (this way even Polish managers could show the right example and not help themselves using their hands). We had allergies from the cats. My length of stay.
