Shantaa Resort - Ko Kut - Building

9.7 Excellent (103 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Shantaa Resort in Ko Kood, you'll be near the beach, within a 10-minute drive of Klong Chao Beach and Ao Tapao Beach. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Limited parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Best place to relax
Cons: There is not much to do around however that is not why we went to this place.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely helpful staff. Fantastic restaurant with a wide variety of amazing food at reasonable prices. The cabins are amazing and clean, only a very short walk to a pristine beach. They have a private pick up service from the ferry so you don't have to share with all the other tourists arriving on the ferry. We had issues with out flight home and the staff called up the airline for us and explained our situation in Thai language. She was so helpful!
Cons: This is in no way the hotels fault however in the low season you cannot fly from Bangkok to meet the ferry as there isn't enough time for the connection. Instead we caught the bus from Bangkok to the ferry pier, however we already booked flights.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: - Food at the restaurant was very delicious and has been made with good ingredients. The breakfast was also great. - very attentive staff. - nicely decorated bungalow, the bathroom was really nice.
Cons: :D
10.0 Excellent
Pros: lots of breakfast choices. Friendly staffs. Quiet beach area. Clean and private room on top of the hills. Lots of activities to do if the weather is good enough. I'd definitely go back!
Cons: Although it took us many hours to get there (by plane, airport shuttle, ferry and another shuttle bus) but the hotel helped us organize transportation end-to-end, which was perfect! Lots of mosquitoes at night, so we have to be careful with it since the bathroom is outdoor. Don't forget to bring lots of mosquito repellent spray.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a wonderful, quiet resort with beautiful bungalows that include a delightful private outdoor garden with shower or soaking tub, excellent service and delicious food, acres of beautiful walks and gardens, a small private beach with appealing snorkeling, and a large, wide, sandy beach just south of the property. While I did explore the island a bit, as I would usually do, I would have been equally satisfied to stay at the resort the whole time and still not felt I had missed the culture. It requires a bit of off-the-beaten-path travel to get here, so there were no tour groups around. Other guests were primarily European, many of them in their 30s, some with baby or toddler in tow. But there was plenty of space for all to enjoy, with dozens of quiet platforms, day beds, swings and hammocks at various lookouts along the property, and a private beach bar. While there was no pool, I didn't miss it for a moment. Many gather at night along the property edge to watch the spectacular sunsets. I plan to make this a yearly trip.
Cons: From, say, Bangkok, travel requires a flight to the tiny (but lovely) Trat airport, a long taxi ride to a ferry, and another longish ferry ride to Koh Kut (it is apparently also possible to hire a van from Bangkok to the ferry dock), with possibly a final taxi to the resort (though my small book simply docked at the resort). I'm not sure any of this is a negative, really--those who make this effort will be fully rewarded!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very nice Resort with lovely Bungalows, bathrooms are extra-ordinary, we liked it a lot, Restaurant also very good. The breakfast was fantastic
Cons: Location is Next to the not so nice looking Pier, but this is not a major issue. A Pool would be nice for this Resort
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Private, very good service, delicious food, warm welcome
Cons: No more beach but not much important
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This resort was just perfect. We arrived by speedboat and forgot to check were our boat would drop us. But hey, when you book shantaa you book for a real Holiday experience. The staff were right there to pick us up and bring us to the resort! Koh Kood is a great island to explore, we rented a scooter from the hotel to do so. Easy! Breakfast was good, super friendly but a little quit employees. Diner was great! Room was the best we had so far. Perfect view, good a.c., nice bathroom. 5 stars!!
Cons: This was the best hotel we visited so far on our trip through Thailand.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The attention to detail at this resort is breathtaking as is their care towards guests. It felt very personal and thoughtful- our needs were anticipated before we even thought of them ourselves! It had a very relaxed feeling and the staff were very calm. They checked in with us to make sure we had travel arrangements and that we were having a nice time on the island. The food was excellent and the cocktails great too! 10/10 would recommend; would love to return!
Cons: The only possible thing that could’ve made it any better was a bath!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We absolutely loved this hotel!! The best and most personalised service of any hotel that I have stayed in (and that's a lot of hotels!!) We were doing a trail run during the stay and the staff went to get our race packs for us and organised transport to the race early in the morning too. The staff are incredible, the food is all amazing, the cocktails list is outstanding plus the gardens are beautiful! I have not stopped recommending this hotel to friends since I returned. The bungalows are well spaced and so it feels very private and more luxurious. The indoor/outdoor bathrooms are a great touch. There's loads of seating all over the site as well as at the beach so you can find a quiet space at all times. I would love to return!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: After arriving from Koh Mak I just loved Shantaa in Koh Kood: no sandflies, a lovely breeze especially in the evening and a restaurant with a GREAT breakfast and overall amazing quality - really, if you stay at Shantaa, dine at the restaurant at least a few times; it’s worth it! Especially a whole fried sweet/spicy fish was delicious. The menu felt even a bit too long(!), but I understand that there needs to be variety for guests dining in for up to 2-3 weeks. We stayed in a basic villa, which was comfortable and clean, with beautiful views, just like every unit seemed to have. Outdoor bathroom felt a bit funky in the beginning, but actually worked just fine and gave a nice touch to the place. There were lots of areas for relaxation at Shantaa, and during our stay in April it was very peaceful and quiet there. The beach was nice for sunbathing and snorkelling, lots of fish to see and easily accessible even for an inexperienced snorkeller :) The staff was very helpful and attentive. I recommend renting a scooter which makes it easy to get around the island, and ask the staff for any recommendation / advice.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place was amazing, everything perfect staff, location closed to the beach, comfortable bed, we have enjoyed so much
Cons: The resort quite far from the pier so that some one would be carsick!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: -Staff is very humble, service minded, helpful. -The location is private, quiet, and very tranquil beach. - The resort is super clean.
Cons: Nothing. Evrrything is exceptional!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Calm, silent yet also lively. I like that the lobby, restaurant and rooms are not too far apart. The beach here is the best in the island (so far :D)
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This place is definitely paradise tucked away from the island main centre. Beautiful gardens and beachfront restaurant and an awesome private pier for romantic sunrise or sunset viewing. Food is delicious and great portions (you get what you pay for!) We had squid salad and it was a whole squid! Great breakfast buffet selection, does run out of food however staff tops it up We stayed here in May which is low season and practically had the resort to ourselves! Travelled with 4 month old baby and staff were kind enough to place us close to the amenities which we are thankful for! Even had the portacot set up in our room. This place is definitely peaceful and relaxing and a great place to get away and unwind. Staff are very friendly and welcoming
Cons: We had a rocky start at the beginning before arriving here as we tried contacting resort via their various numbers listed on their website which no one answered. Their communication via booking.com had been ok This resort does not have a swimming pool but there is the beach. The ride from the pier to the resort is in an open air taxi (they drive very fast) Recommended if travelling with babies/kids to order private taxi and also travel light if you can as there is abit of a walk from the pier to the road. From the pier to the resort it is about 10-15mins car ride
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything especially the staff!
Cons: -
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location, very beautiful quiet bay with nice, clean beach. Some good places for snorkeling. Very nice staff. Breakfast and other meals very good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: 3 words: Stunning, welcoming, relaxing. Possibly one of my favorite stays. We stayed in a beach side villa - the views were breathtaking. The room was beautifully and exceptionally decorated. We utilized the private beach, massages, and the kayaks that were available. The only thing better than the view was how helpful the staff were - my husband has a fairly severe gluten allergy, and everyone was mindful and accommodating to make sure he didn't get sick. Also helped us book activities on the island.
Cons: It was perfect! Wouldn't change a thing.
6.5 Good
Pros: The room was only big enough for a Husban and wife really my daughter is 16 and had to stay in s put me up bed that’s not great, I asked for another room and they came back with a bigger room with a single and a double then wanted 11000 batt!! The room stayed empty for the 3 nights I offered 5000 and they said no that’s a joke when it’s out of season and not many people there
Cons: The hotel service was very good, food was nice
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beach side location
9.7 Excellent
Pros: This is a beautiful place!
5.5 Okay
Pros: The location is wonderful. Just right next to the beach, there is a staff who speaks perfect English is very helpful and welcomig.
Cons: Hotel check-in is a bit time consuming. The hotel has the weirdest extra-bed policy, they actually charge by per kid, but not per extra bed, they even charged the one that share the king-size bed with their parents, They did not explain clearly at the beginning but finally she told that the charge is combine with breakfast, The reception lady is very welcoming when we arrive, but after I question their very “unique” policy. She became impatient, smiling but is all professional fake smile. Since we have three people in the room, so I asked for extra quilt at 8p.m, her first reaction was “No, the housekeeper were already off, no possible to offer after 6p.m” , I insisted a little bit, and finally she made the call and offered me one, we consumed something at the mini bar, and we paid when we checked out after reception’s calculation, but while we were leaving for ferry, the female staff turned to my brother and said rudely“you have to pay for another broken glass”, and she just turned away, I accept to pay everything that we broke and consumed, but I don’t accept their attitude that is due to their unprofessional. We ordered the island taxi for dinner outside and was told 1200 baht per car but they charged me 2000 baht when I paid, I argued with the male reception and he was very insisted and even gave me an “angry face”, luckily I found the one who booked the taxi for me and clarify that it’s 1200 baht but not 2000. Last but not the least, I was extremely uncomfortable with the fake smile, it’s not pleasant at all.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was the second time already we stayed at Jay’s lovely hotel. Since our first visit during one year all changes were just for improvement! Great job and excellent host. Next time we’ll stay in this place 100%
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice hotel in the middle of the palm forest about 1 km walk (2 min drive) to the best beach on the island :) Great facilities, comfy bed, good conditioning system. Loved the coffee machine in the room (two capsules provided free of charge every day). Cleaning is made every day. Nice host :) cute dog )
Cons: Towels not changed a single time during 4 days stay. WHY?? The host Jay is great but he is working somewhere else and available only in the mornings\evenings. At other times of the day it's hard to find anyone around the territory for any help but of you're lucky and do manage to find a girl - she doesn't speak english at all. sad (( a bit dark in the bathroom.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Jay, the owner is very friendly and helpful. He will do everything to make you feel like home. 5 Stars* for that.
Cons: Shower does not have enough preasure.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: It was nice to be in a quiet location and to use nearby authentic restaurants in the evening rather than being in a resort. The owner, Jay, is super friendly and helpful. He made loads of recommendations and basically organised our itinerary for our days on the island. The rooms are well appointed and we were very comfortable and well looked after.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were really clean and cosy. Beautiful view from the porch into the jungle. The host, jay is such an adorable person, friendly, kind and helping. After an accident, we had close by, he helped us with translating and visited us every day in hospital. Such things are not self understanding it shows that he is a great guy with heart who besides runs a beautiful place to stay. Till next time
10.0 Excellent
Pros: a wonderful place, the amazing beaches in the neighborhood and the sky full of stars. Very willing owner and his brother, who give good advice :)
Cons: nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Big, clean apartment. Very kind and helpful people :)
8.3 Excellent
Pros: very good sized clean room about a 12 min walk to the deck bar where you cut through to get to the nice beach. breakfast is served to the room and it varies daily so that was a + Jay the owner is warm and friendly and can book your return boat tickets and arrange pick up
Cons: The bathroom lightning as not enough is for such a large bathroom and trying to shave, well lets say it was not easy as it was to dark.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect room, very clean and bright, the staff very friendly.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Quite great location, but the road from the main Street to the resort is quite bad and easily cause the accident with motorcycle. The staff are all nice and welcome. Very comfortable and full facilities. Really love this place!!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Our room was very clean! It was so nice to have the breakfast to our patio. The bed was very good and nighttime it was so quiet. With a motorbike you could go easily to different beaches.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner of the hotel, Wat and his staff have been very helpful regarding transportation from/to Bangkok, motorcycle rental, breakfast preparation. The place is walking distance to the beach where you can find all amenities (which is also the one of the nicest beaches on the island). Whe best part is the breakfast, you simply text Wat when you are ready to have breakfast and his staff brings the breakfast to your veranda.
7.0 Good
Pros: Nice clean room, super comfortable bed!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The room is very clean. Good service resort near the beach
Cons: If more stick the lamp, this will be very good because when the night time it is horrible
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Bungalow really clean with everything! The location is perfect. The owner was available for everything and reachable via what’s up. And on the top of this, the price is really good. Good plan.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staffs were very friendly and helpful. Property is super clean, and the bed was comfortable.
Cons: The location is not quite ideal.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Rooms are very comfy, clean with good facilities. Location is very quiet as there is nothing around and only a short walk to the beach. Alltough for getting around in koh kood you need a motorbike, doesnt matter where you stay. Wat and his staff are very friendly and helpfull, as there is no reception or restaurant (but that might be there in the near future) the contact by phone with wat goes well and he will help you where he can. All with all we had a fantastic stay at this place on this beatiful island, highly recommend it and we will visit again :) Good luck with your place!!

Cons: Nothing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and welcoming, good location for exploring the island and room was very quiet and comfortable exactly as seen.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I was introduced to the sights of the island and the coffee / water station on arrival. The bungalow is good for two people, for one he is a bit high priced. He has air conditioning, fridge and mosquito net. From the back porch you have a nice view of the area. There was material stored in the front porch, which did not bother me. The water in the bathroom is apparently very ferrous and has a slight red color. What makes this place special is the two guys who run it. This friendliness, serenity and helpfulness can not be found everywhere. It's all very relaxed and uncomplicated. The food is very good and delicious. Scooters can be rented on site. Ferry and bus tickets can also be purchased on site.
Cons: I can not write anything about that because it was all good
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Run by two local legends we loved every moment of our stay at wooden hut, the food was amazing, the hosts were friendly and helped us with everything, we met many fellow travellers and locals, it's a bit off the beaten path and left feeling like we'd had a truly epic adventure. Hope we're able to go back again one day soon.
Cons: nothing it was perfect
7.0 Good
Pros: Very nice and caring owner. Close to many restaurants and good beaches.
Cons: Many insect constantly flying around, including mosquitoes. I had to sleep under the mosquito net to avoid the mosquitoes, but beneath it it's very worn and sweaty. There I didn't feel the ventilator, even on full power.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The amazing, very kind staff, the best kitchen and the atmosphere
Cons: Nothing
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The rooms are big, part wooden, part concrete (ensuite bathroom) structure. Good sound structure (a treat after various other places we stayed in Cambodia). Very clean, comfortable, free drinking water available all the time. The staff and the vibe are really what make this place. It is chilled, relaxed, good background music playing, excellent food which I was confident about eating and enjoyed lots of. They are cool but not pretentious, they are kind and helpful. They work hard to ensure we all have a very good stay. Thank you guys....Dennis, Pilar & Tallay! (spelt as they sound). Do not; come here expecting luxuries from home bring your toothbrush, comb, beach towel. Expect to be close to nature and willing to embrace all the sounds, sights and smells which come with it. Do expect; to ride a moped/motorbike to get to most places on the Island including all but perhaps one beach and other restaurants/bars. It is very easy comfortable driving here (about £6-7 rental per bike per day) even for novices. Wooden Hut is no exception....most places on Koh Kood you'd need transport. Few taxis. It's like living in a small town, but to get around you need 2 wheels to truly enjoy this Island. Tips: Room A. Wooden Hut, Noochy's and Chonthica are great for food. Especially seafood.
Cons: We stayed at one other place on the Island, in concrete structure, clean, comfortable, set in pretty gardens, with mod cons and big airy room and bathroom....for less than wooden hut cost. So I guess Wooden Hut a little more pricey than other places on the island. But WH couldn't be beaten on customer service and vibe the guys created.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely all! The personal were very kind, super cute huts in the middle of a jungle and best food in the island! Big portions and very very tasty. Just 15min walk to the beach but you can rent a bike there. Recomended!!!!!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: - The staffs/owners were very friendly and made us feel like home. Excellent service,I must say! They were always willing to help. You can ask them where the nice places are and what activities you can do during your stay. - We booked a double room with private bathroom and balcony and it was worth the money. From the balcony, you can see the beautiful view of trees, flowers and other huts. A hammock is available in front of the room. Cozy atmosphere. - Conveniently located in the south of the island, in the middle of everything. Not too far from the famous beaches. - The facility also has a small restaurant and bar in front. Prices are considered normal for an island. Music was great. So relaxing. Mostly jazz music. - You can ask the property to help you book for a snorkeling or diving trips. I and my friend were planning to do it, but once we got there, its all fully booked. If you go there during high season, I would recommend that you make reservation in advance because (as far as I know), there are only 2 main companies that run the shared tours. - You can rent a motorcycle for thb 250 a day, and the owners even gave us discount cuz we rented for 2 days. - I booked the ferry and boat with Boonsiri company and they had drop-off service from the pier to Wooden Hut and vice versa for pick-up service. Very convenient.
Cons: - It rained quite hard when we were there since its a monsoon season, so the water we used in the toilet had some smell (even though it had already been filtered) However, I understand that its not the property's fault. I dont get any rash or anything on my body or face after using it. Just the smell... - I felt like the food i ordered was not fresh enough. Thats understandable when you order pork or chicken menus because they have to import those meats from the mainland. If you're there, I would recommend that you order seafood or something else that can be produced on the island. Otherwise, they tend to be not so fresh. And for alcoholic drinks as well, they dont taste as good in low season. Maybe because there are not many tourists and the bottles are left open for so long. But overall, my experience with this property was excellent and I might consider staying there again in the future if I visit the island again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Smashing hosts. Excellent food. Chill place to stay

9.5 Excellent
Pros: I liked that the property was in a quiet section of the jungle, however it was very central. They also have scooters for hire which is ideal as you don’t need to leave a passport with them. The scooters were a good quality and a fair price. It was a lovely location, the breakfasts were very delicious and the island is definitely worth visiting.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Small resort with just a few bungalows. Comfortable beds and good shower. Very nice people. Breakfast was very good. The standard coffee not so much, but the cappuchino was excellent (pay a bit extra but worth it). Also other meals were very good. Close to a nice clean beach.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was just perfect - location, cuisine, great breakfast, friendly owners, nature around bungalow, you can also rent a scooter and explore rest of island. We loved this place! Thank you
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Just a nice place all around
Cons: Very nice place with a great staff. Highly recommend
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was very nice, restaurant and breakfast served there were superb. Bungalow was very comfortable, having a porch to sit on and listen to sounds of the garden was a pleasure during the evenings.
Cons: Nothing really
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The room was excellent and the common area was beautiful. Both breakfast and dinner was delicious! Definitely recommend
9.3 Excellent
Pros: For the value, you can't beat it. Baan Bua is a small group of bungalows with a tiny cafe/restaurant, which is just what I was looking for. Even though Baan Bua isn't directly on the beach, they can be accessed easily by motorbike. The service and food were impeccable. The rooms were cleaned nearly every day and the food was always fresh. In fact, it was some of the best food I had while in Thailand. Great airconditioning, and surprisingly super-fast Wi-fi too!. The garden is gorgeous - a wonderful place to lounge about in the mornings on your private porch. If you like "comfy and cozy", then this is the place for you. I stayed for two weeks!
Cons: Nothing should change.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful little resort which makes you feel warm welcomed. Very nicely decorated and set up. Lovely owners, quiet and clean, great scent in the cottages too. Great little a la carte breakfast
7.0 Good
Pros: The property was really nice, with a small patio with seats. The room was very nicely decorated and had a good ambiance.
Cons: There were however a few things worth mentioning - Ac was aimed at the bed, so when turned on at night its either in your face, or wake up during the night sweating - the staff could not communicate in English, the one person who can was rather timid making it a bit awkward - breakfast was ok’ish, -no swimming pool
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff is great.
Cons: Not near beach

7.5 Good
Pros: Breakfast is great
Cons: Short of staff during holiday. Run out of ice Waiting for food more than 40 mins (reservation made in advance)
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location, beach, cleaniness, staff, room facilities,
Cons: There was no privacy in the villas, the staff doesnt speak at all english so there were many misunderstandings
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Rooms are superb, the cleaning staff does a amazing job. The location of the hotel is on a beautiful beach. The pickup from the ferry was 5 star. Checkin-checkout was a breeze. The hotel got us scooters. Really loved the hotel.
Cons: Beach staff is beyond terrible, not enough long chairs on beach at all! And food is really bad...sorry. (Salads had no taste). But beach staff gets the crown. 1st there is hardly any staff on beach or pool. 2nd they are slow if you by miracle get service.... but i tried to forget since the beach is so amazing. But the worst thing during our stay was the NEW YEARS 2019 dinner. It was the worst dinner ive been to. FOOD was cold and tasteless. Drinks not counted in menu (seriously?). ENTERTAINMENT from 1-10 you get a ZERO. Kids playing musical chairs? Really? Was a complete joke... all for $250 USD/PERSON for what??? The hotel should be ashamed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We moved here from a resort that was not as advertised and disappointing. High season picked us up and gave us the most spectacular greeting! It was such a relief. When you enter the resort, it exceeds your expectations from the street side view. Stunning inside; absolutely immaculate; fabulous facilities; best hotel breakfast; incredible rooms with private pools and beautiful bathroom. Everything smelt like lemongrass. We didn’t want to leave!! We felt like total princesses!
Cons: A la carte menu was a little disappointing: the food was a bit rich and maybe tried a bit too hard to satisfy the international palette and lost some of the beautiful freshness of Thai cuisine.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Love everything, its really clean the staff is really nice and helpful. The service is really good at the restaurant.
Cons: Everything was nice but the only thing that bothered me was that the private pools isnt actually private like people walking can see us swim. I just wished there was a little cover up for the pool.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: We had amazing time in Villas Our Villa was Big, clean, comfortable although some muld smell Unlimited filterred water to drink Yoga in the morning but i wish was Every day A lot of free sunbeds around the pool and beach Good choice for breakfast Beautiful empty beach Hotel transportation and help with the ferry.. use the ferry the recommend, not speedboat which is horrible. Friendly staff Massage
Cons: This hotel is not 5*, doesn’t look and service is not 5* There is No hotel manager so the staff even trying their Best don’t know What to do - they do many things useless and some things they should - don’t do. Thai Food is really bad - such a shame for Thailand! Smell of humidity in Villas For sure not worth the money. Bad cocktails
9.3 Excellent
Pros: So relaxing to stay there

Pros: The best place ever. It's a magic place. Everything is perfect if you want relax. You can also rent a motorbike there to discover the island. The employees are always willing to help. Fantastic. I would come back again. The villa with a private swimming pool is awesome. No words!

Pros: We had an amazing stay at the High Season! The room exceeded our expections and the surrounding beaches were unforgettable with crystal clear water. Their galaxy pool was also a highlight of the stay. The staff were so helpful, polite and friendly. We couldn’t have asked for more!
Cons: We wanted more activities outside the resort on the island.

7.0 Good
Pros: Staff very helpful, rooms nice and clean, good food
Cons: Just the location but we did know about that
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Personal was amazing :-). Recommend you to get room with sea view. They look really great.
Cons: Bad was really hard. Bathroom has shone a little.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The bungalows are super clean, located in a natural and peaceful area close to the pier and a bit far from the beaches, however, you can rent good motorbikes in the hotel for a cheap price (around 250 BHT per day). The stuff helped us a lot with reservations, tickets and information about the island. Totally recommended.
7.0 Good
Pros: Very quiet location. Not near any beach but idyllic all the same. Steep hill down to the property. Staff can arrange anything you like if you ask. Motorcycle rentals are available but the bikes are not as powerful as I would like. This spot is away from everything modern on the island and sheltered from the ocean. Fishing boats in the bay but the i never see any waves. No sunset or sunrise views.
Cons: nothing to do in the area except walk a little bit, eat standard fare foods and sleep.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff were friendly and accommodating. The food served in the restaurant was delicious and the view from the bungalows was amazing. We had a really good stay and would recommend.
Cons: The beds were hard and not much choice at breakfast
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely people, scooter rent for reasonable price. Food was good.
Cons: Prettt far from island life, so you’ll have to rent a scooter. Room could be bit more cozy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We really enjoyed this one week and highly recommend this beautiful, friendly and super clean place. Thanks again to Ao and Wat, family and staff !
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was clean and in perfect condition. The area and surroundings are also fantastic. Maybe the overall best thing was the staff and the people working there! They were super friendly and gave an amazing service.
Cons: Some might think the property is a bit far from the beaches and restaurants etc, but we didnt find this to be a problem. The scooters are very good and it is fun to ride around the island and explore ourselves!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Everything is ok, good staff, good bungalow, good restaurant, good motorbyke !!!.
Cons: Far away from the main beaches
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Simple but beautiful location for those who don’t want to be in a real resort. Very friendly staff will help you with whatever you need. Motor bike is a necessity even for the sake of feeling we warm wind while touring the island.
Cons: Nothing comes to mind.

Pros: The clean room
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very nice and clean apartment. Personál kind and helpfull. Motorbikes for rent for very good prices. Great breakfast. european style -egg/ham/toastst. Pancakes fresh fruit and vegetable. , or thailand meals. Every bungalov is little hidden behind grass and trees for more privacy. If I will visit ko kut again, I want stay at Dara Homestay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The best hotel in Ko Kood. The best stuff in Ko Kood) I was very happy that stayed in this hotel with my future wife) We want to come back again and again in this hotel)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location and room were very clean and roomy.
Cons: Breakfast
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Good location, very sweet staff. The beach towels and mats were an added bonus and they gave us a great price on bikes. Rooms incredibly clean and warm family feel with best staff. The new, comfortable rooms in a nice setting make up for not being on the beach... Rooms are dark and quiet at night= perfect! Bed and pillows a bit hard for us but that’s common in Thailand......breakfast was good, not great.. but the breakfast staff was so friendly and made our mornings better! The Thai food was VERY good and incredibly well priced. Panang curry was perfection. We travelled the whole island over a weeks stay, and stayed at Seafar Resort for our last 3 days... wish we would’ve stayed at Dara’s. Side note- just down the road (right if you are leaving Dara’s) there’s an awesome little coffee and shake stand- had the best iced cappuccino (real espresso) everyday for 40 baht and fruit shakes for the kids... family run and Thai prices (best we found on the island)
Cons: Everything was great. Breakfast could have more variety. A small switch every other day to the fruit and maybe French toast instead of pancakes would be welcome for those staying longer. Would have loved something other than pineapple and watermelon by day 3...
7.5 Good
Pros: Very helpful staff! Arranged taxis for us, it was bit pricey though but price included also pickup from our desired time and place. They also sell tickets if you are going to visit other islands. Taxi + boat to Koh Mak was 400baht. They also rent scooters at the hotel. Our room was great in beautiful location. There is a small store near by if you want to go get some snacks and food in the hotel restaurant was great. Nice about 3km walk for the beach nearby which was almost deserted when we went there. Only two of us and plenty of white sand and blue waters - nice
Cons: Communicating with the staff was hard at times because staff didn't know english too well. Breakfast wasn't too great, but with this price we didn't expect anything too fancy. There was no cleaning at sunday and the restaurant at the hotel was closed that day too. There is places for esting nearby so that's not a problem.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Everything was the best!!!! I recommend it with my heart! It didn't have any flaw! Super place
Cons: Everything was perfect
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place is really nice. We had a standard room, nevertheless it was comfy clean and modern. Staff is super friendly. It is located on the main road pretty close to the beach, it takes about 15 minutes by walk to get there. I highly recommend this place to stay!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was excellent, the room was so comfortable and clean. We will definitely recommend this location to our friends and will book to stay here again!

Pros: everything.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Perfect spot for a relaxed time, the staff is top, the whole place is peaceful and superbly maintained as it seems to be everywhere on the beautiful island of Koh Kood (the prettiest island in Thailand for me now and I have been on a few). 10/10 for Dusati resort without a doubt!
Cons: Absolutely nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: If you give me 100 score, I will give it all. it feels like you visiting your kindly uncle and auntie home which they have their own beach in front of. The Environment is more than great, I believe it because of they make it as a private location, so only the customers can take this place. No noisy at all. The food was great also.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Everything was excellent. The staff were really friendly especially Bang, Bee and Toto. The private beach and pier were cleaned and swept every morning. The snorkeling was good just off the beach. The restaurant here was ideal and surprisingly cheap for a hotel on an island so we didn't feel the need to go elsewhere. I would recommend this resort to anyone wanting a quiet beautiful holiday
Cons: Bed was a little too hard for our liking but nothing to complain about
7.5 Good
Pros: Friendly staff Good Dinner Calm beach
Cons: Too far from the pier

Pros: It was a big room for the price...
Cons: The cleaners started to clean as soon as someone left. When it's the room next to you at 7am then it's not great for a lie in...
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect, the lady at the reception was very helpful, bungalow are nice ... motorbike is needed in order to get to the beach or restaurant ... thanks
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The owner and family were so nice and genuine. They really worked hard to make sure the guesthouse is perfect. The owner is also really helpful and provided us with lots of advise about what to do / eat on the island, thank you! Room was very big, large Comfortable bed, nice outdoor area with table chairs and hammock. Fridge in room which was a plus with water left everyday. WiFi was excellent whole time and shower was nice and hot. We just had the fan room but it was always nice and cool so air con wasn't needed at all. We rented bike from guesthouse which was in great condition. The guesthouse is only a 5 min ride to beautiful beach and 10-15 min ride from many others (try Bang Bao beach this was my fav). The breakfast was also really nice (big pancakes and muesli bowl) and at cheaper rate than most other places on island.
Cons: The only thing I didn't like were the silk sheet on bed, would have been more comfortable with cotton sheets but no big deal!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice room,friendly staff
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The owners of this guesthouse are so friendly. They welcomed us very warmly and they were helpful in eferything we needed. The room was simple and clean. Place is surrounded by trees so it is pretty quiet. Location of this guesthouse is about 10 min walking from the bech. We like that small walk :)
Cons: The matress and pillows were too hard for us.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Delightful owner and staff, excellent spot to unwind in the middle of the forest. Surprisingly, very few mosquitoes or other bugs
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Quiet place, friendly staff, excellent food. They gave best guidances what to do and what to see in island. I've leave this place to be back again.
Cons: I can't say any bad word about this resort.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great peaceful location, friendly staff, close to the main waterfall.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Such an amazing and friendly staff! The lady who was in charge there when we arrived had the warmest smile ever and she cooked the tastiest food. We booked a room with a fan and we were a bit worried of whether we'd make it without an air-condition but it was fine. The bungalows are inside the forest which was really amazing for us (although to be fair it's not easy to find a spot that isn't green in Koh Kood). The location was overall perfect as there is a beach just a 15'-20' minute walk from the rooms, the main waterfall is within walking distance and there's a small trail leading into the forest starting from the property. We're already missing the island and the people we met there. We fell in love with Koh Kood and really want to go back. Next time we know where to stay too.
7.5 Good
Pros: The place was clean
Cons: We rent a bike to the guesthouse. Not a good idea at all. No check in when we took it. And at the end, they told us we had a driving accident and made us pay 3500 baths (100€) for reparation of things we did not even break.

7.5 Good
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff
Cons: Had to share the bathroom with room nextdoor
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner is incredibly kind and helpful. She gave me advice of where to go and when I woke up had a motorbike waiting for me to explore! Great place!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wow! What an incredible stay at Kama Siri. We were originally booked to stay 4 nights and instantly decided to extend. Firstly the staff are incredible, Oi was so helpful and helped us with everything we needed to know about the island, food places, fishing spots, motorbike you name it the staff are always so kind. The accommodation is lovely both the room and the outside tent/rooms. The bed was the most comfortable matress I have stayed on in Asia in the last 3 years!! Always clean and accommodating, everyone at Kama Siri became like friends. Would 100% recommend and we even met people who had come back for there 2nd and 3rd time. Thanks for making our stay so special and being such lovely souls. We will see you again!
6.3 Good
Pros: - hospitality/friendliness of the staff - breakfast - decorated the rooms with love.
Cons: - mouldy/broken shower - smell of sewer in the bathroom
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely place to stay. The owner Oy goes out of her way to make you feel welcome whenever she can (which is all the time!). The dogs are wonderful. We had a brilliant time there.
Cons: It felt a little isolated away from shops, restaurants etc but it was OK because we rented a scooter for 300 baht a day directly from Kama Siri. Oy can also order you food for delivery if you don’t want to go out.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Kama Siri is a home away from home. Its small scale and absolutely wonderful host makes it feel like staying at your aunt's place not at a hotel. Guests interact with each other yet there is enough space for privacy. We stayed at one of their tents, so we had the best from two worlds - feeling close to nature and also have all the comforts of a hotel room as the tent is furnished and equipped with all you need. It was very comfortable and clean. The breakfast was very good and prepared with care - something you don't see often, especially in this price range accommodations. And the last but not the least, the best part of this accommodation was the host/manager who made us feel very welcome and like at home. She does it from a place of authenticity and pure wish to make your stay as comfortable as possible. You don't meet people like her often. When I visit the island again, I will for sure stay at Kama Siri again.
Cons: I can't say anything negative about this accommodation.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Out of all the places that we stayed at during our 3 month trip of South East Asia the service here was easily the best we experienced. The lady (unsure of her name, sorry!) running the place could not have been more helpful and informative. She heavily encourages you to enjoy the place as though it were your own home and really makes an effort to make sure you are happy during your stay. Free beach mats, towels and snorkels are available to use as well as the option to rent motorcycles for a great price. Excellent experience all round.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Since you sleep in a tent, you hear the birds and the wisper of the jungle. Just beautiful. The host is very friendly and helpful. She organised our entire stay and further transportation to Cambodia. We would go again and really recommend it!
Cons: Since you sleep in a tent, you sometimes hear the sounds of your neighbours also ;)
9.3 Excellent
Pros: We had a nice bungalow with a cooking place. The host was very friendly. She learned me Some Thai cooking.

The area is popular for snorkelling, and car hire is available at the accommodation. Klong Chao Waterfall is 11 km from Eve house koh kood.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We thought the location was great. Only 12 min walk to a very lovely beach. If you come to Koh Kood, the only way to experience the island properly is by scooter, Eve house can supply these at a very reasonable price. There are two very good restaurants next door to Eve House (The Canteen - serving amazing traditional Thai food, and Bistro Ko Kood - serving French cuisine - these were both two of the best places we found to eat on the island). Eve House itself is very lovely, and the accommodation is set amongst coconut trees and on the edge of the jungle, so you hear plenty of nature at night, it's very beautiful. We took a cabin with a fan, so no air-conditioning, but as its a bit cooler on the island we were very comfortable. We had our breakfast at Eve House most mornings and it was very good. Highly recommended Eve House to anyone looking for something more rustic in a beautiful setting.
Cons: The only thing they could improve on is by selling fresh coffee. They serve free instant coffee and tea
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I really liked people who work there and the way they assist. Motorcycles can be rented right over there. The place is among the forest. There were some friendly pets and a black kitty what I liked so much. Food was very nice and each breakfast made my spouse and me full until late afternoon. So close to all top beaches from there. I would come back to stay there for a next holiday.
Cons: There was nothing like that.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very friendly, food was excellent, good vibe. Walking distance (15 min) to the beach.
Cons: Nothing!
6.8 Good
Pros: walking distance to a nice beach, nice staff. the price, the cat and dogs.
Cons: bungalow size was half than promised in booking. com bungalows close to each other, you hear your neighbours talk, go to toilet etc. restaurant a little overpriced and being basically on the road, not pleasent to sit in.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Quite expensive compared to more beautiful and cheaper accommodations close by. Staff was nice. At night no possibility to refill or buy fresh water (11pm) Walk to the beach takes some time. Probably nice in high season when there’s more people
Cons: Quite expensive compared to more beautiful and cheaper accommodations close by. Staff was nice. At night no possibility to refill or buy fresh water (11pm) Walk to the beach takes some time. Probably nice in high season when there’s more people
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Eve and paur where so nice. They work so hard and made sure we were looked after. We were too hot and they lent us another fan. The motorbikes were brand new and cheap price to rent. Good food and free tea and coffee. Also trash hero water refills
Cons: We loved everything about eves house except mozzies however it is the jungle so not accommodations fault.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Cold drinks, fast internet, location in near the forrest, hospitality, ...
5.5 Okay
Pros: The staff were lovely, and the location is great if you want somewhere quiet to chill out. You'll need a scooter to get anywhere but you can hire them from the hostel for 250 baht. The food in the restaurant is good, especially the breakfasts.
Cons: The dorm room had bedbugs!!! We told the owners and they sprayed some of the mattresses but nearly all the beds we checked had bugs. It's a shame because the owners are lovely :/

Overview Reviews

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast: I loved breakfast here. They prepare eggs on demand and I could get an omelette with delicious spicy chilies to go with some bacon. Toast was also great. Coffee was brewed, not just Nescafé. If you’ve spent much time in Thailand, you know why I was impressed with breakfast. Beach: The resort has it's own little beach and you can even see a good bit of fish if you go snorkeling. There is also a pool, so guests are split between the locations, giving some space. The beach has water and looks nice at high and low tides. Bungalow: We were in a Bali bungalow. The bungalow is very spacious and has a nice view of the water, from a distance. You have to go across a large lawn, uphill, to get to the bungalow. I had thought these were closer to the water when we booked. The bathroom is outdoors. You have complete privacy, but you do not have AC. I mention this because we were there during a heat wave and using the toilet in the sun at 40C is not pleasant. Not meant as a negative point, but should be mentioned. After all, it was nice to look at palm trees while showering. Staff: The staff was pretty good. In comparison to other places we have visited in Thailand, you could tell that the staff received some training. They were all very friendly and most of them spoke English quite well. The staff seemed to help customers with anything they needed, like booking a boat off the island or day trips. We didn’t make use of these services, but saw that others did. Location: The resort is situated on a small bay on the west coast, which provides for great sunsets. The neighboring village is very small. We rented a scooter (cheaper externally) and drove to other places.
Cons: Bathroom: Some shade where the toilet is would be nice. I needed extra sunblock just to use the toilet. Bar service: While bar service is available at the pool, one must first walk back to the restaurant to order. This kind of defeats the purpose of having bar service at the pool. Sounds petty, but it was annoying. We would have bought much more if it was more convenient.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff, clean accommodation, good beds! Nice outdoor bathroom
Cons: It all seems a bit old.
7.5 Good
Pros: Very well located with a small private beach. The views were great for the subset by the pool.
Cons: Cleaning should be improved and the maintenance of the aircon as well
8.8 Excellent
Pros: There was certainly plenty of room around the resort and the pool was very nice. People were helpful and friendly. The outdoor shower did away with the smelly drain issue you often get in SE Asia.
Cons: Furniture a bit old and tired. Probably not for anyone who wasn’t capable of walking very far. It was a bit of a hike from the restaurant back to the room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing location. Wonderful staff. Had a Thai massage on the beach and it was the best ever. The food was good in the restaurant, WiFi was great. Highly recommend!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location is beautiful. Small but nice beach. Most rooms look out on the sea, nice garden with trees, nice swimming pool. Very kind staff.
Cons: The furniture is a bit old fashioned. Rooms can use an upgrade. Also the shower area in the Bali houses.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice uncrowded resort. Staff great and attentive. Perfect slow season place to chill.
Cons: The bathroom (outside) could use a bit more cover as you get wet using it in the rain. Minor issue though.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was nice and tasty with fresh fruit, baked banana bread and scrambled eggs/omelette made to order.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Peaceful place. Plus the Thai food here is really good. Staffs are nice and helpful
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Smiling and helpful, nice staff.

Pros: The bungalows themselves are spacious, and nestled into infront of some jungle. The bridge to access them is a bit of a trip hazard. But the general location is great. Very peaceful and just across the road is a truly fabulous and very quiet beach, where you can get great food on the other resorts nearby. There’a also a little shop on the corner that offers all you’d need and you can even rent a bike from them.
Cons: Lack of lighting at night to see your way back to the bungalow.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very helpful and friendly owner!!! 4 beautiful and clean bungalows in a palm tree plantation! Spacious terrace with a nice view. Comfortable bed, big blanket. Silent AC and fan. Good wifi signal. Free coffee, water, fruits and sweets in the morning. Small shop, good food and shakes just 50m away. Central located, easy to discover all the very nice beaches and bays by scooter. Highly recommend this nice place!!!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very quiet and nice bungalows And also the view is beautiful
Cons: You need a motorbike to go to the beach (a little far by walk)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Really nice location close to an amazing and quiet beach. Motorbikes for rent (250 b/ day), so you can easily reach other beaches or the waterfalls. The bungalow's surroundings look like the owner is about to renew a lot. During our stay he brought wardrobes for all the bungalows. Really good and clean bathroom!
5.0 Okay
Pros: Quiet place
Cons: No furniture except one bed and one small cabinet. No fridge. No regular cleaning and change the bedding. On emphatic request only. The owner is a nice person, but that’s all.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, 150m away from the beach and very silent. It’s got all the basics: comfortable bed and a/c
Cons: There’s no common area, nor reception, so if you have a doubt there’s nobody you can ask to. Also the green area at the entrance of the guesthouse is not well maintained, I believe they should improve this aspect
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The room is new and clean. It looks much better in real comparing to the photos that show. The garden view looks so lovely for chilling in the morning. With the price, I think it is fine. However, it is not located so close to the beach but if you rent a bike, there is no problem at all!! They helped to arrange the bike, 250 B per day :)
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect. There are only 4 bungalows hidden in the forest next to the main road so it was very peaceful and beautiful :) beach is only 3 minutes walk from bungalows and if you want to experience something better just rent motorbikes from the owner - 5 minute ride (to the right) will lead you to stunning white beach. Owner was very nice and helped us in many occasions. Biggest surprise ever - breakfest are not included and one morning we woke up with american breakfest waiting for us on our balcony's table. I absolutely recommend this lovely family run hotel :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner of the complex was the sweetest and most helpful off all the personnel I have had the chance to meet. We were moving form one accommodation to Baan Phuean and the owner took the time and pick us up for free. The check in was smooth and the accommodation was simply stunning. Surrounded by nature, the complex is made of 4 cottages, and the beach is 250 m away, next to a mini supermarket and a couple of restaurants just within minutes (on foot) from the property. Breakfast was served on the terrace of the unit, deliciously cooked Thai breakfast.
Cons: Nothing! We had a blast here!
7.0 Good
Pros: New bungallows, palms trees and calm. Very nice and helpful manager
Cons: No fridge and poor wi-fi. No English speaker!

Cons: The food was a bit overpriced compared with the portion but the taste was good especially the Thai food. Breakfast was a bit boring as it was the same everyday (we were there 4 nights). The bar turned on quite random type music which a bit too loud (if you are around the bar area) and not suit the atmosphere that much.
