We loved our stay at Kama Siri! The location was great, we rented scooters and explored the beautiful island. Oi (Oy?) and her husband were very helpful with everything from providing scooters to island tips. The breakfast was great, and we could borrow snorkling gear, some games and mats. Oi is the nicest person we met in Thailand. Hope you are well Oi! From the 8 norwegians who stayed at Kama Siri 2-5 january:-)
Everything was great:-)
Overall, quite nice. You should know that this place is run by one woman, Jan; but she isn’t the owner. There are 3-4 dogs on the property and we opted for the deluxe tent w/AC. - The place is nice. Tent was like a military style tent. Good amount of space. Bed was standard. Bathroom is built with concrete behind, but up against, the tent; it was pretty nice. - Shower water was somewhat hot. - Air-conditioning was good. - Breakfast was amazing, really good. - The motorbike we rented seemed reliable. - You can use their helmets/beach mats free. - Jan and DaWan were very kind and helpful.
- You can easily hear things outside of the tent. birds at 2am, Frogs, people talking in the tent next to you, people talking at breakfast on the patio. There were even some moldy spots on the sent (from the humidity). - Dry clothes/room. Everything is very humid/musty, even inside the tent. I would have to take showers in the morning just to not feel sticky. Not really the guest houses fault, but we would have liked to have a place where we can promptly dry clothes; you can in-front of the tent, but the sun doesn’t hit it, so it doesn’t dry to well. - Mosquitos/Bugs. The tent does help keep them out, but we got ate up pretty in the bathroom and outside the tent. - The helmets/beachmats/goggles were worn down. - We did the “cooking class,” which.. didn’t go that well. Jan just ended up doing all of it on short notice. We appreciated it, but we would have liked to have really made time to go through it with her. Overall, good stay for backpackers/couples. Brush up on your Thai if you can.
The tents are connected to a private bathroom and provide a lot of space. There is a daily room service so it is always clean and comfortable. Scooter, laundry service and boat tickets can be purchased from the hosts for a fair price which was very convenient.
We were struggling to get the humidity out of the tent. Keeping the entrance open with the fan switched on helped us.
The welcoming staff, the location and the value for money
Oy, the host, was very welcoming and extremely helpful. She was constantly avaliable and up for helping with anything! She organized all the transportation for us, including transfer to Siem Reap! Upon departure we forgot a thing at the room, Oy was very quick with helping out and we were saved! The room was tidied every day which was really nice (no sand in the bed:) ) The beds were comparably the most comfortable beds during our entire stay at different places in Thailand. Overall we felt really relaxed and comfortable with everything.
There were some ants in the bathroom but as soon as we told the host about it she took care of it quickly and very well!
