It's in a fabulous spot. I love the Bradford Marina and being able to walk into the city centre. It has lots of places for food and drink in easy walking distance. The hotel is modern and bright, with nicely sized rooms, comfy beds and wifi included. I am a Hilton Honours member and this should have been checked prior to check in and it wasn't. A small thing, but it's nice to be recognised.
Staff was very friendly and accomodating
loved the first night was faultless, food, reception staff, and restaurant staff were all perfect, even got a warm welcome from the cleaner. Restaurant service staff, and times were of a much lower standard than i would expext from Damons on the second night. Because of this i found the value for money to be very poor.
Dated and scruffy rooms. No free internet connection.
Very welcoming at reception and polite. Room was very nice and well equiped. I would stay here again. Non
good service and the attached resturant is brill
Convenient and booked a table in advance at the local resturant. The room was old and took some time to warm up. The interior was in need of a fresh look, but clean and comfortable.
The restaurant was close by
excellent staff and excellent food and service at restaurant cleanliness of room and massive bed
Very friendly staff, exceptional at reception.Well trained in Customer Relations None
Good clean modern accomodation, enthusiastic, polite & informative staff both in accomodation block and also adjacent restaurant facilities.
Warm welcome. Comfortable & clean room facilities. Good breakfast. Nothing
The room was clean and comfortable and very good value for money. The adjoining restaurant was of a good standard and all the staff were very polite and helpful.
Very helpfull receptionist, great value for money.
Comfy Beds, Clean Cooked breakfast wasn't very hot and our egg was undercooked and sausage was chewey. Good variety of breakfast but we think £7.99 was a bit expensive.
the staff made us very welcome and nothing was to much trouble !!! the room was excellent !!! the doule room could have done with another comfortable chair !!!
Comfortable, convenient and guarantee of good night's sleep.
Excellent welcome offered to book us table for dinner when we arrived, offered us ironing equipment, booked us cabs during our stay.Iwill definatly stay there again when I go to visit family & will recommend it to other family members. The Farrier resturant was excellent not just for evening meal but breakfast was brilliant & the play area is great for the kids.Easy to find! None!
good value for money. Excellent staff
The hotel manager Adele was outstanding. I had been concerned about the safety of parking my brand new car. She went out of her way to ensure that I was able to park safely on both nights of our stay. Her friendly, caring and helpful manner made all aspects of our stay special. We felt as if we were staying in someone's home, rather than a hotel.
Ideal location for reaching city centre on foot, cozey and friendly atmosphere
Being in the top part of town with all the good pubs and restaraunts away from the rabble
Good combination of small size and good quality. Like staying in an exclusive town house. It's not staffed 24 hours so I had to wait ten minutes while someone came to let me in.
Excellent position near the Catherdral, clean rooms and reasonably quiet with good oarking. Rooms overpriced [ breakfast not included,] so not value for money.
Well presented period property with bags of character in great location with secure parking The sink tap was loose and twisted round
Friendly staff who were very willing to help had to phone to get someone to meet us as reception wasn't staffed (and could not be found easily due to refurbishment work)
Interesting room within the old hall part of the hotel. Pleasant to have complemtry robes within the room The bed was very hard, for the price it would be nice for breakfast and car parking to be included.
The staff were very accomodating and extremely pleasant, the room was large and comfortable. All aspects had been catered for.
Comfy lounge, free coffee machine and well stocked honesty bar Electricity tripped to the sockets on the night of arrival and the trip switch was in a cupboard in our en-suite, but we had to wait for a member of staff to turn up Saterday morning before we got power back. No way of making tea in bed, so had to get dressed and go next door to get a cup of tea from the tea rooms. Power back about 30 mins after this.
The staff were lovely, very friendly and helpful, breakfast was very good. The location is brilliant. Well reccommended If I had to say anything it would be that there are no signs for this hotel it is not easy to find. But once you find it , its lovely
The ambience was impressive and the room was huge. Breakfast was also excellent. You could not beat the location and free parking. This was luxury facility with a modest price. I though the front desk staff were most college students who could use more training in hospitality management. But everything else was first rate so it''s easy to overlook this.
This is my guest house of choice. Very helpful, friendly owners. Comfortable accommodation. Private car park. Fabulous breakfasts. Can't wait to go again!
friendly and very helpful staff delicious breakfasts decor a little dated
Very friendly and helpful owner, happy to give tips on local restaurants, booking taxis, a helping hand with the iron and directions. Cheerful chat at breakfast!
Staff very good efficient, breakfast excellent, large comfortable room, shower one of the best ever come across in a hotel Decour a bit dated.
Location was excellent as within a 10 min walk of the old town and castle. Easy parking , Friendly owener and local information given. Sorry to say but the whole decor of the inside needs bringing up to 2010 as well out of date,.The bedroom requires complete re decoration along with the 1950's furniture which is falling to bits albeit the shower room was new there were things to be finished off like covering screw holes with filler and then painted , it was a bit adhoc.
The Mayfield is very well situated within walking distance of the Castle, Cathedral and main shopping area. It was warm and very comfortable.
It suited my purpose, was clean and helpful. No
We were welcomed and treated very well by the husband and wife team. The breakfast was very good. It is also convenient for the City Centre. The bathroom is in need of an upgrade.
A very friendly welcome and they gave me a lot of help in terms of directions. An excellent Breakfast and overall very friendly and kind people running the Guest House. Nothing it was excellent value for money would stay again:
Great location. Very good breakfast. Pleasant owners. Warm bedroom. Shower in Room 2 was inadequate. Cold water in basin was barely a trickle.
spacious bedroom No lift
Friendly, comfortable, ideal central location, wonderful singers/guitarists practising in the bar !
Excellent breakfast - all breakfast chefs should learn to cook to this quality Noise from kitchens early in the morning
Good position in the centre of town. Better breakfast than most hotels of a similar standard.
Welcoming and comfortable, relaxed environment.
The ambiance was fantastic. The room was luxurious and quiet. The only drawback was the lack of an elevator. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
The carefully and beautifully restored surroundings, the excellent breakfast, (I travel extensively and rate this aspect as quite the best I have experienced for years) and the obvious care for customers experienced from the moment we stepped through the door until the moment we left. No
the bistro evening meals. excellent.. the bed was so hard i would have been more comfortable on the floor...room 101.also no hot water from sink tap until the bath tap was turned fully on for a few minutes.
comfort of the hotel and friendliness of the staff `noticed that the glass in the doors was dirty particularly the entrance to the restaurant, creating a scruffy impression, although the hotel was not scruffy!
Helpful staff, delicious dinner, great ambience and central location. The room was in some respects not well maintained - in particular, the toilet seat was very loose.
Very helpful and welcoming staff. Excellent breakfast. Clean and comfortable room.
The landlay was fantastic, very friendly and helpful.
Fantastic room, great and friendly service and couldnt do enough for you. Really nice host - Jackie, great brekkie, very nice room, nice little touches and extras such as chocs in room, card to say thanks for the stay. Dont stay anywhere else,
Friendly staff, clean and nice room. Breakfast delicious. No hot water in evening though this may have been down to number of guests all going out to evening party
The customer service was excellent. It was obvious that the customer's needs were paramount in this guesthouse. The staff bent over backwards to look after us. Nothing. Couldn't fault it.
The friendliness and attention of the House Keeper. Nothing was too much trouble. My room had wonderful views and the food was superb. Nothing
Manager Jackie was very friendly, helpful and welcoming. Room was warm and comfortable, and we enjoyed using the cosy guest lounge where we could have coffee and read the papers (all free) in front of the fire. Location was quiet, but within easy walking distance of city centre
the very warm welcome from jackie, also the small but very effective touches such as coffee/tea and biscuits available at all times in the lounge. Marvellous full english breakfast and anything else you requested at breakfast, nothing was too much trouble . the only thing was that it was quite noisy from the traffic on the main road but this would not deter me from staying here again.
The comfort, cleanliness and warm welcome from the manager and the excellent breakfast. Free internet access was also an advantage. The website described the hotel as being near the railway station, but in fact it was more than 20 minutes walking distance.
friendliness of staff
Nice room, lovely bathroom, thought gone into decor & guests requirements, excellent location & value for money. Access to hotel as the drive is steep & narrow, particularly difficult when icy & dark & there isn't much lighting. Parking not great as again steep & not much room. Cars get blocked in. Should perhaps think about turning some of the garden into parking space.
The fact that breakfast was available which-ever time suited one; also the lovely view from my room. No desk with light at which to sit and study/work
the lady who greeted me; and the owner who allowed me to check-out late the lady who was working at breakfast on the last day of my stay. couldn't tell if she was painfully shy, or rude.
Very friendly and helpful proprietor (Martin). Very Clean rooms and excellent location for the City of Lincoln.
Good position near to Cathedral & Castle. View over city from bedroom window. Comfortable bed. Decent breakfast available. Smart bathroom. Difficult, narrow, steep access to property. Not at all obvious which house was The Poplars. We actually stayed at Crossways, the hallway landing etc needs a bit of tlc. Night storage heater in bedroom which was cold when we returned at about 5pm on Saturday. No one about to provide alternative form of heating. Hot water had gone cold both evenings. No hook, shelf or heat in bathroom
Location within the city. Of the road free parking. Unfinished misleading accommodation.
Excellent rural location. The breakfasts were of a high quality both cooking and quality of food used None
The seclusion Better if they could have an evening meal, not everybody wants to travel to get fed, plus you do need a car
The freindly staff and the pub nearby (The green man). No food available in the hotel on a Sunday night.
Friendly staff, extremely helpful. Everything that we needed in the room Signposting could have been clearer to the hotel (minor criticism) Pillows were a bit hard
Good service, friendly staff and an excellent breakfast!
Nice room, clean, fairly priced, good breakfast, personal touch. None
Friendly atmosphere, good breakfasts. Spotless rooms with sat Television. Quiet and unusual hotel Its a pity they do not serve food in the evening
It was lovely and quiet, despite being quite busy the night that we stayed. The people were friendly and helpful, and breakfast was delicious. It was confusing as to which way to go in, doors were locked and it was unclear where we had to go.
The seclusion, peace and quiet. A very relaxing place to stay.
Comfortable room in a quiet location Staff were not very visible. Reception was usually unoccupied. Breakfast facilities left a lot to be desired.
Easy parking. The room was extrememly dusty, the waste bin had not been emptied from the previous guests. The expelair in the bathroom did not work. There were holes in the duvet cover. The room we booked was supposed to be 'Superior', but we were allocated a standard room. The cost on your site was the same for both types of room so we could do nothing about it. Also, the cleaner knocked to clean our room at 930am when we weren't mean to leave until midday!
The king size bed was very comfortable, and the pillows were soft. Reception staff unwelcoming; pool/spa facilities cramped (web page has a misleading picture); breakfast was a shambles because staffing level inadequate for number of guests (no table ready, then chairs missing - had to rectify this ourselves. Self-serve food was old, cold and looked very unappetising. Restaurant manager over-ruled a waiter who wanted to provide us with fresh plates of food by insisting we use the awful self-serve bar)
The pool and leisure facilities Our room was very near to the pool house and the pump room was rather noisy
It was in a location that was central for exploring that part of the U.K. Did not find the staff approachable or positive.
The staff were very friendly. And the facilities were very relaxing .
the draft drinks in the bar were awful. and there are no fridges in the
Beautiful bed and great service. N/A
Very, very comfy beds and rooms. Reception and bar staff were very friendly. We didn't notice a lift!! No drinks in the rooms! We do like a night-cap.
The bedroom was great. The bed was huge and very comfy. The food was good, and the staff was very welcoming. The general atmosphere was very nice.
The facilities were great and the staff welcoming. Room was clean and well cleaned. Breakfast buffet was outstanding - consistently good and well stocked, again with attentive staff.
Welcoming and friendly staff. Swimming pool very nice (and warm)
Wev were upgraded to a mansion room as there were very few residents on the day. This was a large room with a great bathroom but let down by the bed being a standard double and not king Size, the matteress was spongy and not at all firm. The majority of then staff were excellent. The restaurant supervisor was competent but let down by below average waitibng staff and chefs. The food was mediocre at very best. My partners meat for dinner was undercooked and mine was cold, we complained and no action was taken. The Breakfast was served and not Buffet and the majority was cold or luke warm at best. A lovely place with some great staff but sadly badly let down by the food quality.
Had a great stay, got upgraded to the min hotel, so excellent value for £39 stunning building not that easy to find!
Ticks all the boxes for a quality, comfortable relaxing break. This was our second stay in the Mansion House and we are looking forward to returning soon. Nothing at all.
The setting really had the wow factor, it felt very peaceful and the staff were helpful. Paying the full hotel rate but being put in the student accomodation in the lodge.
I think this is a great place to stay particularly if you need a stop close to the A!
The helpfulness and friendliness of all the staff.
location and helpful staff/management tv could do with an upgrade ; not sure if there was a radio
Friendly welcome clean room good shower but decor dated and not really acceptable for the published prices. I booked online at a discount. I would not have stayed if I had booked at full price. Refurbishment is expected soon as the hotel has new owners The location is superb, good choice of restaurants right in the centre of the historic quarter. Some say something about atmosphere but it passed me by. Industrial vacuum cleaner and supplies piled in corridor
Olrasr write at least 15 words comfortable, friendly room adequate , good bed, very good breakfast, good parking Nothing to spoil my stay
Good service from staff, parking excellent. Room was very poorly decorated, shower was difficult to work and the walls were paper thin. We could hear everything next door were saying.
service was slow the rooms had not got any internal information in them. the bar prices were very high in the function room, lower in the main bar, why! and a £5.00 charge for room service at 19.00 was a bit steep as the kitchen was open. it was very comfortable
Nice large room, decent beds. Room slightly tired in places.
Gym and Spa facilities. Breakfast service and speed. Check in staff not engaged and poorly trained. Unimpressed by the canteen style carvery for evening dinner. As said by other reviewers the length my room was away from the bar, restaurant, leisure club.
relaxed atmosphere.luxurious surroundings.restaurant and bar staff extremely professional and helpful.nothing was too much trouble.
Concierge was very helpful and obliging-facilities appeared to be excellent but we had no time on this visit to use them
Used the gym & the pool, also dined in the evening at the main resturant & bar. The resturant staff were very slow, we waited over half an hour for drinks and had to ask twice for them as the first waiter had forgotten.
The Staff were good, and the views and surrounding area very good indeed. Our double bed was very uncomfortable as the mattress needed being replaced as it had collapsed in the middle. That's very poor for a DE Vere hotel!
nice pool/ gymn. very good supper. good, charming, helpful service. absolutely no noise insulation. was woken many times by people passing outside the door. heard every intimate detail of the man in the room above's night-time visit to the toilet. very poor night's sleep
I thought our room was really lovely. The bed was huge and the bathroom was a very high standard. We had a very good night sleep indeed. The carvery lunch was below par, especially for the price of £22 per head.
The leisure facilities, were very good. An excellent gym with machines and free weights, Squash ,Swimming etc. The restaurant served quality food, and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The only minor point is it is a large hotel and it can be a hike to your room! But then the facilities are on a larger scale. So it's swings and round -a-bouts.
Quality of surroundings and personal attention small bathroom
This location was chosen for a relaxing and friendly hosted break that was not too far from the main travel routes. It was perfect for us. There was a cold snap during our stay and what better way to end the day out by copious cups of tea around a roaring fire. The Manor itself was in itself quite special and with the many antiquities about the place, very, very interesting. Leo was an excellent host and deserves praise for hard work and ability to look after his guests. Would we return? Without a doubt! Nothing to complain about!
Very Nice bedroom Interesting building Friendly staff (only saw one person) Reception when arrive is very unclear and confusing No lock on bedroom door Very small tv with poor picture quality for what was called a luxury room
My partner and I stayed one night in the Lord's Room at Allington Manor (as we were eating at the nearby Harry's Place, which it is perfectly located for). For only £85 on a Friday, we were presented with a stunning manor house, like a mini stately home with suits of armour - even in the terrential downpour we arrived in the place looked stunning. The village looked like it might be nice as well had we been there in non tsunami-like conditions (the pub looked particularly appealing!) The bedroom was luxurious and relaxing, and the breakfast was lovely, especially the freshly baked bread. The service at all times was impeccable, from booking us a taxi to opening the door for us at midnight! Thoroughly recommended for a romantic night away. Absolutely nothing, the only thing we could have wished for given the weather was perhaps a board game to keep us amused in the drawing room!
Fabulous manor house, crammed with beautiful things. Lovely roll top bath in the bedroom. We were made most welcome and Leo’s freshly baked bread at breakfast was gorgeous. An absolute delight.
the bed & the bath & the personal service nothing
Great view of cathedral out of rooms 320-323, breakfast nice, cooked as you want it Evening meal (Fish and chips) too expensive for small portions (plus £2.50 delivery charge) had more bones in the fish than chips!! Filled in form but heard nothing
The design and comfort of the room. The availability of the restaurant. There was a lot of noise from the street outside until about 4a.m.
Excellent location of the hotel in Lincoln, England. Courtesy and friendliness of the staff. Excellent dinner at the Orangerie Restaurant, with superb asistance from the bar staff in selecting accompanying wine. The elevator was the tiniest one I've ever seen! And lined withe brown carpet! Might be time to expand and improve the elevator.
The Hotel is very well positioned. There is a lack of ambience - modernisation has taken away its historical character. The lack of a peaceful residents' lounge means there is nowhere to relax when there are wedding parties etc.
Great room, good price and friendly staff.
I really enjoyed the location No thought given to vegetarians for the breakfast. Unable to get drinks in the evening as it was impossible to get past everyone to get to the bar
use of it in the bedrooms no
Location was excellent and the room was very comfortable. It was -7 in the evening so very welcoming to get in the room and heating was on and nice and cosy. Would definately recommend this hotel. The cooked breakfast was very small - no indication as to whether you could have an extra sausage or piece of bacon. Some of my group were disappointed in the small size of cooked breakfast. Seemed like you were only allowed one item of each sort only. Although the quality of the meat was excellent - great lincolnshire sausages!
Location, right in the heart of the old city. Work on updating the hotel was taking place while we were there, so facilities were limited.
Walk into Lincoln along the canal Other guests having an argument in the middle of the night - not the hotel's fault.
Excellent meals friendly-courteous staff. Wonderful location None
All Very good - nice quiet location
Lovely spot, great food, really friendly staff, and great ale
Lovely rooms with flat screen tv and power shower. The beds were king size and the most comfortable I have stayed in . Restaurant had excellent food quality. breakfast - could have done with a help-yourself buffet table of cereals, juices etc.. instead of having to order them. Sweets in the restaurant could be a little more generous for price, my cheesecake was the tiniest sliver!
The staff were very good, and the food good value The keys are on wooden tags, and the noise of people coming back in to open the doors of their rooms is quite loud. We were woken up several times.
Location is excellent. Good front of house staff. Wedding reception food good. Breakfast good. Tv in room would only receive a few stations. There was black mould growing in the shower cubicle. Condition of grounds and gardens very poor. Uneven lawns infested with weeds. Exterior looks long overdue for repainting etc Unclean carpet in the Banqueting Room.Very bad draught beer in Banqueting Room (better in the bar)perhaps there is a problem with the cellar man. Stone chippings used for surfacing car park damage very expensive womens shoes. Bar staff in Banquetting room were unable to start individual tabs for the convenience of guests who were attending a wedding reception.
The bar staff were very friendly and accomodating, food was good value for money Would have preferred to have had breakfast in the dining room rather than the bar area. Service was not as good as at dinner previously. Thought the 20 miniutes walk to the cit was exagerated as it took 40!
The location as i found it had fantastic scenery, wonderful rooms.the staff were more than polite and helpfull.cannot think of higher words to say.excellent.will certainly be looking for another vacancy next time im in lincoln. nothing at all.
Pleasantly surprised. Although not as big, the rooms were as good as a Premier Inn and a half the price. Quiet and comfortable. Our daughter has just started a 3 year course at Lincoln Uni and we will definately be regular visitors over the coming years. Absolutely nothing. Would definately recommend
Having to clean the bath out before being able to use it. Lack of staff. Very noisy.
Good staff Location
Quality of room very good. Mix up about price. We were charged £45 per night on line but when we arrived rate had changed to £55. Not very helpful receptionist booking in but next day very helpful member of staff in bar / serving breakfast.
Room was comfortable, quiet and undisturbed by busy roads or other noise After leaving main road, I was not aware of any directions to access the hotel
