Pros: Great, large room, good storage, desk and chair. Clean and well managed facility. Owner very hospitable. Quiet, residential location near the river walk, shopping and restaurants within easy walking distance. Good breakfast.
Cons: Secure parking was available but a bit rustic.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A very spacious room with beautiful furniture and a well-stocked bathroom. Very gracious, accommodating and friendly staff. Everything was absolutely wonderful. I stayed an additional night because it felt so luxurious.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent place; would recommend!!! Very helpful with all our needs.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: El Cardenal Hotel is a beautiful new hotel that is a perfect home base for a visit to Loja. From the moment we arrived by bus, we were made to feel like a part of the loving family who ownnthe hotel. Sr. Raymi, his brother, and his angelic mother constantly looked for ways to help us enjoy our stay. The location was great for us, with Supermaxi (a USA-style supermarket) and a local fresh food mercado only 7 minutes walk away. El Centro Histórico was an inexpensive 5 minute and taxi ride from the hotel. Just steps away was the river and a linear park that extends a long way through Loja. We don’t have young children but if we did, they would’ve enjoyed the nearby children’s recreational park. The room and attached bathroom were absolutely spotlessly clean. The large sitting rooms were beautifully appointed with comfortable furniture and sacred art. And the in-house restaurant served delicious breakfasts ($3.25– a real bargain). We will certainly stay at El Cardenal Hotel the next time we visit Loja. There isn’t a better value or a nicer place to stay in this lovely city.
Cons: The mattress was a little too hard for our taste, as many Ecuadorian mattresses tend to be. Still, this is a matter of taste and others may find them ideal.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was large and the bed was comfy. The room was clean. One of the sons speaks some English. But they are all eager to help. They insisted I join them for easter lunch with their extended family. They can’t do enough for you and the breakfast was also good.
Cons: The WiFi is no good for streaming. The location is only good if you want to be outside the city. If you want to be in the centre this is not the hotel for you. It’s a 40 min walk or 2 minutes taxi ride.
7.0 Good
Pros: The family that own the hotel are very kind. The bed was comfortable.
Cons: There wasn’t any hot water. The shower was warm but not hot. It is very far from the historical center and taxi drivers had a difficult time finding it. The wifi only worked from the lobby.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Truly a beautiful place, set in a clean, safe, well-kept neighborhood. Owned and managed by a really sweet family who will go far out of their way to make sure you enjoy your stay. Very quiet and peaceful, because of the location about two kilometers from the easily accessible city center. Excellent supermarket and selection of restaurants only a five-block walk away along a pretty river trail. Fine breakfast tailored to your taste, always prepared fresh. Room was very spacious, and the bed was simply luxurious. Perfect cable TV, perfect internet, excellent hot shower, and a beautiful decor wherever you look. Highly recommended for a great stay in Loja.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great family place
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very nice owners who are very helpful! Spacious rooms. Good fresh breakfast.
Cons: A bit far from the city centre. If you arrive at Terrestre terminal, taxi drivers don't know the place. Take a city bus (green line) instead.

Pros: Nice modern hotel in the heart of an interesting city.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The room was large, very clean and comfortable. The location was within walking distance of many things. The front desk staff was very helpful.
Cons: The room was too warm and you can’t adjust the temperature. I talked to the front desk and they provided a large fan which helped. This is the only reason I would not stay again. I like it cool to sleep so it was difficult sleeping.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice hotel, nice modern design, in house parking, excellent beds, big and well equipped bathroom/shower
Cons: The illumination in the room we had, could be better. We had one coffemaker but in a double room only one cup. We got 2 bottles of drinking water, but only one glass. For the class of the hotel we also missed some kleenex. But these are only minor problems. For the hotel class, also the breakfastbuffet was a bit limited e.g no cold milk, only one very sweet yoghurt, the coffe for us not drinkable.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The installations were very nice
Cons: Staff didn´t like to attend us after 21:30, they were like in a rush.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice place within easy walking distance of the center. The people here are excellent--kind, helpful, and very informative about the local area. So many pluses about the place--super-clean and attractive room, comfortable bed, quiet environment, great wifi connection, perfect hot shower, free drinking water, and an incredibly low price for a lodging of this quality. I had a very pleasant stay, and I highly recommend Los Lirios for other budget travelers spending time in Loja.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Los Lirios is located close to the city center. Daniel and Yanina are incredibly hospitable hosts. They keep their rooms super clean, provide helpful tips and suggestions, can store your luggage and go out of their way to make your visit to Loja a positive one. Really good New York style pizza just across the street. We’ll be back.
Cons: Internet on my iPad was inconsistent. My partner had no problems on her iPhone.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staff was very helpful and friendly. Location was excellent.
Cons: WiFi in the bedroom was poor and most of the time off. As travelers this is important. The lighting in the stair ways was not working and very unsafe for going up and down.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Close to centre of town and very practical for a brief stay.
Cons: A modern fairly characterless building
5.5 Okay
Pros: The staff were all friendly and helpful. It was always easy enough to get a taxi and these were very inexpensive.p
Cons: I had to get the staff to remove the shower tap and adjust it to get hot water. The room was cold, and the 'view' was of a brick wall and shabby roof 2 metres away. The hotel has a bland feel.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff above all
Cons: The breakfast was somewhat dull.Fruits and eggs lacked flavour. Some rooms are noisy as a shaft connects to the dining room
6.8 Good
Pros: Very well located and big rooms
Cons: A bit expensive for the price. The room should have being clean better. There was garbage in the bin when we came in. Breakfast was very simple
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable room and bed. Great location. Staff provided a breakfast pack for our early morning departure.
Cons: We had to wait approximately 30mins for hot water each time we wanted to shower and on the day that we had to check out early morning, the staff turned on water in another room 30mins early so that we could shower before we left, which indicates that it is a known issue. It was also very difficult to get any travel information from staff.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I was allowed to check in earlier than the set time.
Cons: The breakfast
7.5 Good
Pros: Clean, good sized room. We stayed in 6 hotels in 2 weeks and this was the only one with a bathtub! Very nice bathroom, good shower. Polite staff.
Cons: Located on a narrow very busy street. Lots of street noise. View directly into a school of some sort across the narrow street. Also, incredible amount of wind noise coming in through the window. It was windy season, but perhaps the windows need some upgrading.
7.5 Good
Cons: The one staff member was clearly homophobic when I checked in with bf. The handle in the shower was broken. There was a party downstairs in the restaurant (on Wed night) that was so loud I couldn't sleep until 1:30am. Breakfast was barely anything (which in Ecuador, I expect a lot more from hotel breakfast). So... would not stay there again.
8.3 Excellent
Cons: Breakfast could be better, a portion of cheese and ham never will cost enough than customer’s satisfaction.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable beds, nice staff, parking, location perfect. Breakfast was okay. Staff really tried. Room large. Bathroom updated (sort of). Room clean.
Cons: Room was comfortable. At about 8 pm they come with candles. Electricity going out. Next morning no electric. Go for breakfast staff trying to manage. Electric back on. Thank goodness. Without electric no hot water. When electric was turned on....tried to shower...water from shower ran all over bathroom. Literally a swimming pool inside the bathroom. And of course we wanted a quiet inside room. We also went to the pool area to relax and they had a children's party going on. Guess they rented the space.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, comfort, cleanliness, great place for the value for money.
Cons: To stay only two days.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Libertado staff went out of their way to make our stay pleasant. Front desk: Diego Bell boy: Angel Waiter: Paul We will definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family.
Cons: Everything was excellent.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast buffet was great! Omelet bar, fresh juices, super tasty! The rooms were big, TV could be changed to English which was a nice break for the brain. Location was perfect, and almost all of the staff were absolutely wonderful. Thank you!
Cons: We had laundry service at the hotel - first, don’t do it, it’s crazy expensive and there are laundromats lining the streets all around the hotel (they just don’t show up on google). When our clothes arrived back, all of my colored clothing had the same stain on it, they ruined multiple items of clothing. When I spoke to the lady at the front desk, she said that I wouldn’t have to pay for the clothes they ruined. I said no I’m not paying for any of it, as one of the items was a $150 sweater. She agreed. A few moments later we got a knock on our door and the laundry service lady came into our room and yelled at us telling us she didn’t do it. Then 2 more staff came in all of them arguing with us in our room, it was so uncomfortable and unprofessional. We asked to speak to a manager and they promptly left. The front desk woman told us the manager was busy and didn’t have time to see us. She sneakily tried to get me to pay for our laundry upon checkout, but I told her I would wait to speak to a manager and I could be asking for a refund for the clothing they ruined but I would rather not the headache. It was a shame because the rest of our stay was wonderful, it was the weekend staff that were definitely not qualified to be there without a manager in charge.
4.5 Okay
Pros: Only location
Cons: The old man at the front desk, not friendly at all, very rude!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is an excellent value. The staff is friendly and efficient. The room was clean. It is conviently located and safe.

No garden...........crowing roosters at 5:00 am.........Owner charged me $15.00 for staying an additional 7 hours on the Sunday because my bus was leaving at 11:00 pm. Pros: Every thing was fantastic, truly. This was my second time staying at this hotel. The service was what really sets Hotel Villonaco apart. I wish I could give 10 stars but 5 is as high as allowed. I have stayed in all manner of lodging from 5 dollar hostels, to 5 star 5 Diamond Resorts. Nowhere have I received the incredible service offer here. Juan Pablo, Diana, Fabian, and the rest of the staff are truly the best. Thank you!!

Cons: The bed isn’t clean, the floor isn’t clean, lightly cigarette smell, not enough hot water, very noisy, the room is very small for the price.

Pros: The location was great. We were right near the main plaza, we felt that the hotel was very safe. A doorbell rang every time someone entered or exited the building. The front desk person was super-friendly.
Cons: The coffee was instant, which was a little disappointing since this is the land of the famous Loja coffee. The room was a bit on the small side, which meant there was very little room for our suitcases.

Pros: The bed was very comfortable, and the window/ door opened out above the street one block from the center. The coffee was great, and the staff were entirely accommodating and cheerful.
Cons: The toilet did not work properly, failing to flush completely no matter how much they plunged it. The shower would not warm up, but I don’t know if that was just my room.

4.3 Okay
Pros: Friendly staff
Cons: The distance from the city was too much. The road was dusty and rough. The room was small and the beds uncomfortable.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The atmosphere of this old hacienda was wonderful.
Cons: The mattresses in the secondary building need to be replaced. They are thin and do not offer back support.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The food was amazing, the views incomparable, and the staff were very helpful and friendly! It is the perfect getaway from city life if you want to relax and enjoy nature!
Cons: The Booking.com page wasn't completely accurate, so when we arrived it was a bit of a shock how far out it was from Loja, and how rustic the property was. We loved it but wished we had had a better idea of what we were getting into from the start. This property is very remote, we didn't have much cell service, and it was a little challenging to get to it. The bedrooms share 2 bathrooms so if you are looking for a private bathroom this might not be for you. We would return but would pack more appropriately for "roughing it", and would plan to eat all of our meals there because Loja is too far to get to within an hour.

6.8 Good
Pros: The hotel has parking and elevators. Front desk lady was very nice. Room was clean. Breakfast was good.
Cons: Restaurant was closed on the day we arrived. Bed was noisy and curtains were a few inches from floor so light from outside shown in all night. Breakfast was to be delivered to room at 8am, we waited but none was delivered . When we were checking out, front desk lady brought breakfast to a small waiting area. Location was not horrible but on a Saturday night it was very dark walking back to our hotel from eating dinner. Almost all the businesses were closed within a couple blocks. We had planned eating in the hotel restaurant that was not opened. Maintenance is needed in the bathroom. The shower faucet dripped ALOT...when bath water was running. I chose to take a bath. The stopper had to be pried out of the drain so bath water could drain. I ended up using my eyebrow plucker. There was hot water at night but in the morning there was NO hot water. Our room was only supplied with one towel for two people. .

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: Noisy but due to noisy talking guests outside the room
7.0 Good
Pros: Good location, reasonable value for what you get at $15 a night. Room was clean and decent amount of space.
Cons: No breakfast. Showers weren't the best here. Room was fairly uninspiring. Overall okay but I think there's better value to be had in Loja (and subsequently found it after returning to the town a few days after)
2.5 Mediocre
Cons: They ask almost double price when we arrived there, I didn’t get any notice before, tell me is some wrong with booking.com system, it feels like a trap, they can email me or phone me, we saw another couple come in having the same issue.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The location is fairly central but I was told by a few people (tourists and locals) that the park on the corner is kinds sketchy at night. Price isn't bad for a basic room.
Cons: Staff members are very distracted during the day with a small parking area behind reception - there's no focus on customers at the hotel or customer service in general. The area is a bit dangerous at night due to the park, not advisable to walk alone in that area when it's dark.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Hot shower with pressure!!! Especially in the late evening en early morning. Bed was comfortable and the place seemed very clean.
Cons: Attention of the staff was poor. If you return in the evening or night it takes some minutes and many rings of the bell before the staff opens the door. In the meantime the whole hostel has been woken. And in the early morning they were making quite some noise for some reason. Breakfast was quite poor.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: The location is excellent and they serve a great breakfast. Rooms are spacious and have a small refrigerator. There is an elevator for upper floors.
Cons: No AC or heating but maybe not needed. Could be a bit noisy since windows are left open.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was wonderful and helpful. The location of the hotel is very convenient and walking distance to the city’s center. The hotel is gorgeous and our room was very spacious, clean, and beautiful. The breakfast was very good with lots of choices to choose from. We liked everything about this hotel.
Cons: We liked Everything!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The entire experience was fantastic. We were fortunate to be at a marvelous concert in the hotel as well. Quiet, clean, great staff. No hassles. Hope to return some day.
7.0 Good
Pros: We like the older colonial styled hotels and this had the feeling in the lobby. Staff were helpful and we need to learn Spanish. Good location
Cons: We were looking forward to ridding ourselves of grime only to find the shower/ bath luke warm. No tea/ coffee making facilities in the room.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Beautiful decoration
Cons: Unsteady water pressure, no hot water on one of the three days we were there, no towels another day, dirty table cloths in the restaurant. In general the staff were kind but obviously lacked training so that service was more on par with a 3 Star hotel and not a 5 Star hotel.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: The receptionist was very nice. The room was spacious, clean, comfortable, with a desk and closet, the bathroom had hot water, the place was quiet. The hotel was very close to the center.
Cons: The internet on the third floor wasn't working and you had to use the one from the second floor so it was weak. I told the staff member twice about this, but he did nothing. When I reserved my room I requested a room with strong wifi connection, so I should have had a room on the second floor, which would have prevented this problem.
10.0 Excellent

Cons: More of a hotel than a hostel

Cons: Check out the shopping mall for food. Try and leave the town asap.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very helpful, friendly, English speaking staff. We checked out at 4 to get to PERU which was no problem. Comfortable large room with good beds.
Cons: It's a hotel, not a hostel, which is a different atmosphere. It was a bit noisy, but we think that was because of the elections.
8.0 Excellent
Cons: Excellent service and nice people

Cons: All good. No kitchen but free water and coffee

Pros: Clean, reasonably priced, friendly and helpful staff
Cons: Perhaps not their fault, but I was told I could book a shared taxi to the airport for $7, but when the taxi arrived he insisted since nobody else joined I should pay $14. The hotel staff wasn't able to help me.
7.5 Good
Cons: Good staff

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good
Cons: Everything
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The bed was firm. I like the little refrigerator. You don't see much of that in Ecuador. The staff was very friendly.
Cons: The "fabulous breakfast" was just two eggs, bread, juice (fresh and not watered down) and coffee. The restaurant is not in operation. I think they might be hurting financially.

7.0 Good
Pros: The staff was friendly.
Cons: I did not like the fact that the first picture they advertised regarding the hot tub was not accurate. Neither the hot tub or the sanua were working. The location was not near anything of interest.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The food and service are excellent above and beyond helpful
Cons: Refrigerator did not work but we didn’t need this time on our next visit they assured me we will have a working one
10.0 Excellent
Pros: the staff went beyond to help me, as my phone was pick pocketed in Loja they help me buy another and helped me change my flights, drove me to the bus terminal very late at night Thank you Danielo y Sara
Cons: all good
7.5 Good
Pros: staff friendliness
Cons: banging next door (construction all day
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing. The staff charged us 40 dollars more then advertised on booking. Thank goodness booking caught it and rectified it. If I could I would give Grand Loja -5
Cons: We disliked Everything. Dirty, noisy staff trying to rip us off. We asked for a cab to the airport they said it would be over 2 hours we walked outside and grabbed a cab in less then a minute. We would have missed our flight. Dark hair on the tiles of the wall. I have blonde. The room was soooo noisy. The floor looked like it hadn’t been vacuumed in over a week. Buyer beware I have never give. A bad review before but had to warn other travellers.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Strong WiFi
Cons: I used booking.com to reserve three nights. After seeing the room, I went down to the clerk and told her I had a change in plans and would be checking out in the morning. She understood that I would stay just one night. The room smelled of state cigarettes covered over by cheap air freshener. The carpet was thin, worn in spots, stained and filthy. The whole time I was in the room I would put on my shoes to walk around. Underneath the desk was a small styrofoam cup with a paper towel in some pink liquid. This was either a cheap version of pest control or a bad job of preparing the room by the maid. The toilet seat wasn't connected, it flopped around. Once when flushing, the water almost overflowed and it regurgitated a cigarette butt. Not mine, I don't smoke. When I checked out the next morning, she charged me for three nights, not one. I protested and she explained it was the policy of booking.com. Maybe so, I should start reading Booking's fine print.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Love the suite, the view is great, and the jacuzzi is excellent. We use room 508 every time we visit Loja. Great value for money.
Cons: Not enough towels and they were rough, not soft or comfortable. Also, there were some odd additional charges that I did not expect or fully understand. Finally, the check-out was a real problem because the credit card machine took over half an hour to process my payment and I missed my bus home to El Pangui. It's a five hour journey.
