When we arrived to check in the clerk mentioned that the pool and weight room were closed for renovations. We were not interested in either facility, so it wasn't a big deal. After a night out, we returned rather late to the room and went to bed. We were woken up by the sounds of banging and loud machinery above our room. When we called the front desk they said we didn't have to chose to stay here and that we ahould uave known better. We were furious at only getting about 4 hours of sleep because they started construction at 8am when check out wasn't until 11am. Needless to say we'll never stay there again.
Location. Friendly staff
The hotel is in depserate need of renovations. the mud brown carpets, and yellow lighting fixtures create a borderline terrifying walk to your room. Inside the room, the windows do not have any curtaiins, only gossimer sheers, and the uplighting from the hotel grounds illuminate your entire room at all hours of the night. I found it easy to tollerate the ugly interior, but not being able to sleep due to the massive amount of light coming through the windows was unacceptable. I have stayed in several hotels around the St. Matthews area, and all of them have been more pleasant experiences.
