see above. We were put an a handicaproom.
Good beds , we slept really good Bookings said I could have reserved handicapped parking. Hotel said when I arrived Bookings has error as to parking on its site. Since they do not have reserved parking.and this is Bookings fault not the hotels.
The relaxed atmosphere and pleasant staff. The breakfast. We were unable to attend the evening meals. We did wonder if our room would be warm enough in deep winter, especially the bathroom. The wall heater did not work on the full range od settings.
Staff, location, cleanliness..value.
Evening meal was more than light, it was excellent! There was a mention about fitness centre and we thought it's a gym but it wasn't.
Nice and quiet area, on walking distance of the city center. Not like any big business hotel, but much more cosy. Even though the hotel was not fully booked, I was offered the room with a very small window and the worst view you can imagine.
Quiet, unobstrusive atmosphere Even for a single room, rather small with eaves further limiting space on 4th floor
Toilet/shower room tiny. Could do with at least a few wall hooks for towels.
coffe-tea-water free all day long!!! self-made wafles in the afternoon!!! free evening-buffet!!!! big room!!! very nice decoration!!! very friendly staff!!!! very quiet location!!! the best hotel ever!!!!
Handsome building with interesting archietectural history in gracious, easily accessible residential area on westside of Oslo. Peaceful and quiet. Close to local trams. Buses, good restuarants and Vigeland Sculpture garden. Modernized rooms are well-decorated in spare contemporary Scandinavian design. Our room for two was spotless and had excellent toilet\shower facilities. Abundant, although standard, breakfast buffet and very good evening buffet included in price of hotel. Juices, coffee and tea available all day. There are 3-4 well furnished, comfortable, smoke free lounges and an outdoor terrace.. Free wireless internet throughout hotel. Good for business as well as leisure travellers and families. Main desk clerks were a bit harried, not as friendly as staff providing breakfast or evening buffet who were attentive and helpful.
Relatively central location Reception staff were unhelpful and surly.
The staff tried within there ability to accommodate our requests. The breakfast was good. Compared to US standard, this hotel would probably not receive more than a two star
This hotel is a bit old a not modern at first sight, but comfortable and functional, ther is all you can need including free cofee in the hall or garage. The staff is kind and helpful. The location is also very good.
Close to city center and bus/metro stations
service of the people
Location and Staff No Air Conditioning and it seemed a bit run down.
a comfortable large room + very good breakfast not applicable
The breakfast. A little bit expensive for the type of room you get. The price could easily be around NOK 900. That would be a reasonable rate.
Bathroom was very small and old.
Location was good for getting in and out of Oslo.Nearto train ,tram and bus .Breakfast was very good. Restaurant and bar do not open Friday Saturday and Sunday nights.
Very nice experience. People are nice and treat us friendly. The location is very good.
Staff very friendly
I received a warm welcome from real people who seemed interested in being professional and looking after me rather than, I so often find these days, people who have learned all the words of welcome but are not able to convey that feeling. Very nice - thank you A more comprehensive food offer for example a lunch menu.
Nice location out of the center. Easy walk to Frogner and other charming neighborhoods, and good public transport to the city. Comfortable, well designed room. Nice breakfast. Expensive parking, but maybe that's the case everywhere in Oslo.
breakfast was ok, helpfull staff room was rather small and interior looked very "cheap"
To be honest, just the breakfast buffet was good. The first room I was given to did not have an operating panel for the key card. I was not able to turn on the light. Opposite of the hotel there was a construction site, so I did not have to worry of oversleeping because the pneumatic-hammer was doing this job at 07.00 am. The whole room was shabbily. The floor, the bathroom, the locker was dusty, this pricey "hotel" was a nightmare. I did take a lot of pictures. I can mail them if you like. The hotel staff was cockily: I asked why my room was not cleaned up at 08.00 pm and the man answered "I don' t know, it is not my job ". I did not asked him to clean up or whose job it was but his statement was typical to complete my impression about this run-down sleazy hotel.
The wery soft and comfortable beds.
Stig the Receptionist at front desk who tried to rectify the problems with our rooms My wife and I arrived on the 17th August 2015, and on attempting to check-in we were told the "computer system" was not working and therefore we we not able to check in. We were told to either wait (they could not provide an estimate on how long it would take). After a 15-min wait we were checked in "manually". As an American Carlson member, I presented my Club Carlson Gold card, but it wasn't accepted because my trip was booked through Kayak! Nevertheless after a short delay we were in our room. Immediately we noticed that the carpet in the room was dirty, and there were 2-single beds (as opposed to a double as we booked) Credit to the front desk staff who promptly reassigned us to a "newly refurbished" room. The room was a marked improvement over the last, and we happily settled in; unpacking our suitcases and preparing for an afternoon of sightseeing. On return in the evening, we prepared for the night and around 20:00 we tried to lock the door. The door lock did not work. A call to the front desk and a couple of minutes later someone from maintenance was at our door. I explained that the door wouldn't lock from the inside and he insisted that the lock was working. I was a bit taken back by his curt response, but nevertheless invited him to try. What followed next had me flabbergasted! The maintenance employee closed the door, and using his body weight proceeded to to yank on the door handle until he could engage the lock. Curtly he replied, "There it is locked". I attempted to unlock door by turning the lock itself and when I couldn't he demonstrated how to unlock the door. Standing on his toes and again using all his body weight he pressed down on the door handle until the lock disengaged. Again the curt response, "There it is unlocked". I couldn't believe it! Visibility annoyed at this point, when I pointed out that locking the door in such a manner would be a fire hazard (not to mention my wife will never be able to unlock the door if I locked it), he suggested that I actually didn't need to lock the door as no one from the outside could get in without a key. In response I stated that any member of staff could enter if the door was unlocked, to which he acknowledged was true and said I could either call the front desk to arrange a new room, lock the door as he demonstrated, or leave the door unlocked; but there was nothing he could do to fix the lock. Another call to the front desk and we were offered a room on the 20th floor. So after repacking we moved to our 3-room for the day. From then on the only issues we faced were with our room keys. Every time we left our room, the room key would not let us back in. So we had to make our way to the front desk where they would make a new key. Every time without fail!
exceptionally good was the breakfast, very wide variety of anything you can wish for and great service( michael from the brekfast service was very helpful and gave a great service!). also the view from the hotelbar is great! the "business class" rooms were a little bit old fashioned and run down, but clean and everythign was there.
The staff was excellent - they helped me recover my kindle when I accidentally left it on the airport shuttle. They also helped me with directions and provided assistance in finding my way around Oslo. The breakfast buffet was very good as well. Room temperature was a bit warm for my taste - the ac was apparently not on yet (early spring), so I could not make the room cooler.
The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. The swimming pool and sauna had free lockers and plenty of fluffy white towels. The breakfast was absolutely amazing. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to others. The booking details were totally correct. Thank you. No.
Breakfast The room was old and not entirely clean, staying at this hotel was a true disappointment, not value for money at all!!
Very slow/non-existant Room Service.
Very nice breakfast in nice room The interior of the rooms is "dated"
Breakfast buffet was nice, good location Didn't really have air conditioning -- our room was really hot which was disruptive
I stayed 2 nights for a city break and found the hotel fine in particular I found the sauna a welcome relief after touring the city all day. The breakfast buffet had everthing you would want with good quality ingredients. It was a good location just a 5 min walk to the main street karl johans. my only fault was the room was a little small (twin queen were 2 single beds although comfortable) with no tea coffee making facility which is a pity especially when walking around the city all you look forward to is a warm cup of coffee to relax in your room, the hotel lobby was dated the chairs were quiet worn and the leisure facilities (pool) was freezing!!
We don't know what we would have liked because our reservation was cancelled on the morning of our flight to Oslo because of a hotel workers strike. Obviously, we didn't like the need to find another hotel at the very last minute.
Friendly staff, nice room and very clean.Good location. We decided to have a meal on the night we arrived in the dining room, waiter said how good the food was,he took our order and we ordered a bottle of wine then he returned to say all that was available was a burger. Not good for first impression.
The roof bar and the location with a nice walk to the city center.
I like the kindness of the staff, and their ability to answer questions, also to solve some problems. they were very friendly. it was dirty with chips under the beds, and i would prefer some double bed instead of single beds. They were not the most comfortable bed i ever had in hotels. also, they are a bit short for me, i'm 1m88.
All in one was pretty much ok, except the fact that the bathroom was not cleaned and i had to say that to the staff 2 times in order to get it clean
Comfortable with pleasant staff and accessible to city centre
Super location, centrally located but quiet. Very clean. Helpful staff and wonderful breakfast. No
Very friendly & kind staff at checkin & indeed at checkout. A very good breakfast. My room was ver noisey, facing the roasd where trams were going by regularly. No air conditioning meant that it was quite uncomfortable.
The hotel is quietly located, although very central. Liked the lay-out and functioning of the breakfast buffet. Not the usual busy feel, tables placed comfortably away.
close to the Aker Brygge area of the city no
Friendly helpful staff, good location, excellent breakfast and comfortable room (superior).
Being close to the Design Store Building and other shopping areas by the wharf. The hotel staff was unhelpful in almost every respect.
The breakfast, and the location The room was full of dust. Too expensive.
The carpets in the lobby were lovely! The staff at reception when I checked in were not very helpful. I was waiting to be attended to and they dealt with three other people who came in after me. There was also three fire alarms going off in the afternoon. Each time I followed the fire instructions and went downstairs but there were no staff there to advise me when it was safe to go back in or what had happened. When I was leaving via the stairs the third time, there was a workman vacuuming the staircase and he told me not to worry and that it was nothing. Not a very professional attitude from any of the staff.
location poor business center (only 1 computer, tiny) poor barkeeper in Grand Cafe: did not know his sherries nor acquavit: served both different sherries and aquavit than asked for. door to french balcony could not be closed properly letting in a lot of noice during the night.
Comfort, breakfast Noise during the night from outside.
Excellent Hotel and superb staff
Nothing. Not as represented. Old Hotel not kept up.
The location there has gone a lot of things wrong for us at the grand hotel unfortunately. there has not been room cleaning the whole weekend. the video system dind't work proper and this could not be solved. the spa we couldn't make use of with our 2 1/2 year old, because he should be 3 years. unfortunately they could only inform us about this after we were dressed in our bading suits. the hotel staff wasn't very cooperating.
location was great. breakfast was poor and needed to wait for the coffee very long. Rooms need renovation badly.
I liked the location of the hotel it was very central and the staff we very friendly. The foo was good and the hotel was very clean
This is a warm hotel which seems to appreciate its customers. The room was an elegant modern design filled with quality. It was attractive and stylish and contained a very comfortable bed. We really liked this hotel and will stay there again.
The location was very handy, quite close to the sea and not far from the city centre. The room was not very big but we had no problems sleeping on the very comfortable beds, also the shower facility is quite nice. The staff was very kind and helpful.
Reasonable price considering that this is in Oslo. The room was fairly large. The hotel is located very close to Aker Brygge, where you will find several very good restaurants and bars. The restaurant was closed in the evening, no in-house facilities at all besides the reception after that. Some traffic noise in the room. To enter the hotel you need to climb a couple of short staircases, which may be a problem for people with prams or wheelchairs.
I like the way how recepcionists threated me as a guest of that hotel. They was very kind and pleasent. Also, I like the fact that they immediately answer me on the mail prior to visit to the hotel.
The hotel is child-friendly and family-friendly. Good location - 10 minutes walk to Oslo main street, 2 minutes from trendy seafront area.
hardly any people around, easy to do stuff
very good location, big seletion of breakfast, friendly staff, very comfortable bed the room is a bit small, not very new/modern furniture in the room
rooms are a bit small
clean, good breakfast, slept well the receptionist could not even explain properly where the hotel was located. I was already in bogstadveien, and she made me turn twice because she didn't know where I was, even though I was naming all the names of the stores.
the breakfast was very good, the position good the noice of conditioners
Room comfort Maybe reception staff came across as a bit curt
This Hotel is located in a very pleasant street, lot of shop's, easy access to public transportation. The design of this hotel is up to date in a Scandinavian style. The lock of my door seems damaged and I'm not sure it was very efficient... No safety box in rooms.
The hotel is good location. Very good price for the value. It is not suitable for friends to share the rooms. Because the bathroom has glass windows where you can see directly through! Also they messed up our rates. I booked 2 standard double rooms, 1 for 2 people 1 for 1 person. The room for 1 person has cheaper rate. They gave us a single room for the 1 person and wanted to charge double room's rate!
Very clean comfortable and friendly
Breakfast was fresh and good and served in a nice room. Free hot drinks 24h. Free Internet point and printer. The room was not properly clean. Noise coming from the courtyard (air conditioning equipment?)
Easy access to public transport - trams outside the door and T-bahn a few hundred metres away. We had asked for twin beds. We did not notice we had been given a double bed (with two duvets) until we had unpacked and to move then to another room would have been too tiresome. Twin beds means twin beds.
Liked the room for its design, also great breakfast and free coffee, tea and apples at the reception
Great restaurant "De Fem Stuer" The hotel building in Dragon Style is a feast for the eyes, and what is inside is good too. Right outside from the parking a one hour hike to Frogner seteren begins (for working off the calories). The bar is not well stocked with wine; however, the restaurant is.
The quite time away of the city. The ten minutes walk from the bus stop. The add did not specify that rooms with view are extra. I would have paid more for the excellent view.
Breakfast is amazing!
Look of the hotel, views from the hotel, helpfull staff (we got an excellent recommendation for a restaurant) I requested a double non-smoking room upon reservation. At hotel they gave me a twin room at first. We I didn't accept, I got a double room. But non-smoking wasn't available anymore.
The servant at the dinner was very, very good! The meal was also very good! It took more than one hour to receive the main course..
the place has a something special about it, fairy tail style part of the hotel (used as a conference centre) is really different from usual modern hotels. It has spa, which is good after you came back from Sking (just 10 min drive). Beautiful panorama of Oslo City is open to see from mostly any open side of the hotel. It was not possible to get any !!!!! food after 10pm, as everything except bar was closed already. we were coming late and didn't even got chance to get bread and butter.
We've got a nice view as requested, excellent breakfast. The bus (1B) connection from the train station to the hotel was very poor. It was rarely on time. Even worse, the bus usually left before the train arrived. That means the passengers have to wait for the next bus. There was one day that we and the other guests of the hotel were waiting for a bus in the rain for more than half an hour. ... To improve this, during the construction of the railway, the hotel should have provided a shuttle bus service to pick up their guests at the last stop of the train line 1. That would make this hotel even more attractive...
its a 4star hotel. good! good! prices of food at resto, but understandable, its 4 star
We were camping and were looking for a nice alternative in Oslo due to bad weather. The Holmenkollen Park Hotel Rica was an excellent choice. We liked the building style of the central part of the hotel (the extension building with the hotel rooms is a normal building) and the magnificent view overlooking Oslo Fjord from the hotel room. The breakfast buffet offered a wide range of different styles of breakfast and should make everybody happy. Holmenkollen subway station is nearby (10min walk down the hill), so the hotel can be easily reached from the city centre. At the time of our stay (August 2009) the subway track was being upgraded and there was no service to Holmenkollen station, but there were high frequency bus replacement services.
Very attractive facility with a magnificent view of Oslo and the surrounding countryside. Ample beakfast. Free internet. The restaurant is very attractive but the food was oversalted to the point of being inedible. Although we checked in just before 3 pm, our room wasn't ready.
nice decor, reasonable sized room, resonably priced (by Norwegian standards), nice view from room of park across the street, free tee and coffee machine in lobby, free internet in lobby
The environment and the staff.
I liked the up to date rooms - though the bathroom was very small The breakfast could have had a nicer selection of fresh fruit
Good equipment of the room, rather good breakfasts, close to the center
the coffee/ hot chocolate/ hot tea dispenser and two or three computers available for guest. Very nice of them :-) the hot drinks help us keep abit of warm in the cold weather on our way out. Breakfast was good! most of time, so far we experience hotel door lock once close. but this hotel's doesn't. Both good and bad, cos if we had not realised that, we would have left the door unlock when we go out.
The faboulous breakfast The mattresses could have been a bit more substantial.
Value for money and central location. One staff member on check out was rude and not competent to carry out this function.
Central located The view fra to room - there was a construction outsite the window!
Great Breakfast--given the expensiveness of the city, it made lunch unnecessary
Breakfast and room confort. Not so close to town center.
friendly, clean fine room, tasty breakfast with good coffee (!), superb location for tourist, too noisy at street side
Really clean, modern finish. Having warned them there were vegans in our party it would have been nice if they had at least had some soya milk in the kitchen.
The staff was very friendly, and made me feel very comfortable, but I did not stay long enough to appreciate all the services the hotel would offer.
the location of the hotel is very good...Besides we had a room at the back so we were not disturbed by any noise.... We arrived at the hotel quite late and paid for the room straight away...When we arrived in the room, it was actually set up for one person, so we had to go down again to the reception and were given an extra duvet...Basically we had to make our own bed at 23.00!!! And we realised the following morning that we only had one towel too, which was very practical... After half an hour we were in the hotel, I remembered that the receptionnist hadn't given me a receipt when I paid for the room...So I went downstairs and asked for it but he could barely remember I had already paid!!! We stayed at a Thon hotel in Bergen and Trondheim too ( and they were very good!) but the Thon Cecil Oslo was by far the most expensive and it was a real disappointment...I hope this was just bad luck...
They get the job done. Good breakfast, good location, good staff, good price. The hotel is a little run down, but overall was worth the price.
Very central - location The rooms. We got 327 which had the shower and the toilet in the same space. It was a minuscule room with zero space to breath. One morning, unfortunately, when walking out of the room we found feces in the hallway. We reported it to the front desk. Although, it is understandable that was not the hotel's fault, one expects to be compensated in some sort for the unsightly inconvenience.
The fourth floor breakfast room serves a very complete offering. Nice touch is that the menu varies slightly day-to-day.
We were given a room upgrade, which was very nice. The room was spacious and comfortable. It was a bit far from the station, but the T-bane was nearby.
Most everything was OK. -The WC itself had, shall we say, clear signs of not being cleaned. The Word "sorry" was never uttered from the staff upon being informed of this. -At 11.57 there comes a knock on the door, just as i was about to leave the room, "sir, why haven't you checked out yet?" Very uneccesary. Heavy vibration from the ventiation system. Almost like on a large ship at sea, I happen to like ships, so it didn't destry my sleep.
My friend and I just returned home from Staying in Oslo. The Best Western Karl Johan was truly a great find! It is in an unbeatable location next to many restaurants and attractions. It only took us a few minutes to visit City Hall (Noble Peace Area), pier to fjord cruise or Museum Island, National Theater, Parliament, Ice Skating, and Subway to Airport/Skiing. 10 minutes away was the fort, king/queen palace (changing of the guard), and Opera House. The staff all spoke English and were very helpful pre and during trip. They took the time to answer all of my questions prior to visiting Oslo and while staying at their hotel. Breakfast was perfect! First of all, food in Oslo is expensive. Having breakfast included was a major perk. They had quite a variety of items to choose from. Overall, I can't wait to go back to Oslo again. Best Western Karl Johan would definitely be my choice of hotel again. Wish they had a fitness center, but everything else was excellent.
Perfect location near the King's Palace. Unfortunately, our room was right over a bar with an extremely loud band playing till 2:30 am. If we hadn't had suitcases unpacked, we would have asked to be moved. Very short night of sleep.
Location Smell from kitchen in rooms in back side, disco music "booms" late in the night, very late (3 PM) possible check in.
Really good location for train and easy to get too. A little bit too touristy for us but it was very convenient. Breakfast buffet is really good. Hotel lounge was very comfortable if you have to check out early and needed a place to rest before your flight. Bathroom was small and no real shampoo.
Staff greeted us personally and were so helpful. Facilities excellent and breakfast was served until 11am so could have a lie in x N/A
Convenient location and very quiet (I have stayed in a number of hotels in central Oslo and had issues with street noise, but this was very peaceful). Enjoyable breakfast provided. Rooms were very basic (e.g., no shampoo etc in bathroom). Decoratively, it is an impressive building but the interior looks quite "tired". Felt expensive for what it was, but reflects high cost of Oslo hotels.
Great location. Within walking distance of Central Station. Located near all city shops & restaurants and bars. Free Wi-fi. I know it's Oslo and things are expensive but for the price I would have expected a better standard of room. It was basic. Paying for location I presume.
Breakfast according to expectations with Norwegian touch.Magnificent view on the National Theater (front view) is worth asking for. City center location with access to all nearby landmarks of the city center. Room was rather cold (no temperature control possible).
Breakfast The bad was not clean and in the room was pretty cold.
This hotel has all the needed facilities and is perfectly located in the centre of Oslo. Despite agreement there was no early check in possible and no coffee/tea facility available. The TV was also very old.
Great hotel with fantastic location in the city center. Everything nearby. Staff is extremely friendly and help you with all your questions. Especially the bell-boys at the entrance. The restaurant in the hotel (Theatercafeen) is the most famous one in Oslo and also very nice to have a diner. a lot of business people. Cosy restaurant on 1st floor (Gourmet) and nice lobby-bar for an afternoon coffee. Free use of computer, printer and internet. Facilities in the room are super. Fantastic view (ask room on higher level). Would certainly visit hotel again for a next stay. Oslo is very very expensive...but that is in whole Scandinavia.
Most appreciated was the polite and efficient staff
Everything was wonderful. Comfortable room, big breakfast, nice gym, relaxing lounges and restaurants. Great location and pleasant, helpful staff. Gym was too hot.
The beds were extremely comfortable and the breakfast was delicious! The reception had a hard time giving us restaurant suggestions for the area.
It's a lovely old characterful hotel. The room was small but clean. We stayed in a room overlooking a bar. Unfortunately it was so noisy that we couldn't sleep until the bar closed in the early hours.
We stay there every time we are in Oslo. very often .(good answer) This time Bristol had an offer since they had an anniversry. 6 year. I was told when I arrived that we would get the same offer as my friend 500 kr. but next day , I had to pay full price. Must have people in reception that no have to answer.
breakfast furniture a little shabby in places
ambiance for that price I expected a bath...and didn't get one
The gracious public spaces - and great breakfast! All the personel were very pleasant and competent. The noise ourside - but both nights we were there were Saturdays.
the location is the only redeming featurem Very poor customer service. The hotel did not have my reservation and wrongly blamed booking.com. The window did not open in first room offered. All rooms at back of hotel are noisy with fans running all night. Staff said the fans would cut out at midnight - they do not. I moved to Bondenheim on opposite corner after one night. lower price and better staff by a mile.
Ecletic hotel and a welcome change from the usual business offering
Perfect Location The Bus stop for to and from airport shuttle is right at the entrance of the hotel The hotel is in a perfect center of the city Most of the things/places to see in Oslo are within 10 minutes walking distance of this hotel Hundreds of restaurants, bars and late night fast food places available within 3 to 5 minutes walking Perfect place if you are visiting Oslo for leisure or business. Staff is very polite and friendly. Maybe need to improve on soundproof windows
The hotel has been newly redecorated, but it has kept the Norwegian traditions. Perfect location.
a cosy warm room for unseasonable cold Oslo weather The shower and wash basin took ages to warm up - I can't imagine the amount of water that was wasted.
Perfectly located with normal living condotions. Reception staff could be more friendly Wi-Fi internet would really help as we had only phones and pda, plus it is very cheap to implement.
Clean, quiet, conveniently located in the heart of Oslo
Location, comfortable rooms, good food.
breakfast was okay We would liked to have any information regarding the fire alarm after we went down to the lobby. Nobody told us what it was all about......
Very convenient location. Walking distance to large parts of Oslo city
friendly and helpfull staff
a sauna would be perfect in such cities especially in winter time. the breakfast is not good...Nobody attended the room (until 8:00). Little choice of fresh fruit...No green tea available.
Very comfortable room. Excellent bed and armchair! Perfect with ironing board and possibilty to hang up clothes-hangers in shower. Placing of breakfast rather erratic. Spent a lot of time finding the different items of food and drink and getting them to my table.
Centrally located, especially with respect to shopping and night life (many things just 5min walking), good breakfast, free WLAN. Early check in was not possible – after some discussion suddenly room available -> personal not the most committed. Worst: Air condition wakes you up @7.30 in the morning when you have the room towards the (ugly) back yard (even with closed window). Therefore I will not book this hotel again.
our superior twin room was furnished very well, newly decorated and the beds were comfortable; breakfast buffet was great, also the possibility to buy a lunch at a low price; the location of the hotel in the city center is perfect; price-quality in an expensive city like Oslo was perfect we stayed at the backside of the hotel which was the quiet side but unfortunately a very noisy outside airconditioning was turned on between 07.15 and midnight; the air conditioning in our room did not function at all so at night it was too hot; a shower screen would prevent the wooden bathroom door from getting damaged by the water
A great central location.
The hotel is very well located, next to the Parliament building and Karl Johans street, not far from Aker Brygge.
Tidy and a nice breakfast buffet The room was horribly cold !
The great advantage of this hotel is its central location; also close to one of the airport bus stops and to Oslo public transport. Straightforward and relatively low-priced hotel. Perfectly adequate for our sightseeing requirements.
Breakfast was good and room adequate Windows are quite thin, so it might get chilly during the actual winter. Now it was ok, but a little bit drafty.
Located in the city center.
Excellent location! We were very pleased with the service as we got upgraded as we got to the hotel.Would stay there again. This is not about the hotel, but about Booking.com; we did not receive any confirmation when booking the hotel, and as we had book several other hotels that day for a travel, it was hard to find out exactly which hotels that we had booked.
location, staff the room we had was not a double, they adapted it from single to double...6-8 sqm!
Clean, comfortable. Provided the necessiticies - bed, bath and breakfast - appropriately and efficiently. Staff were helpful and informative. Breakfast was good.
The comfort of the rooms; the general ambience of the place; the proximity to woodlands / nature; the fact that there were bikes I could use to wander into the woods; the free transfers to airport & Marsta station having to go to a basement room to iron my clothes; couldn't get through to the hotel even after trying for 15 mins when I initially reached the airport to arrange for the transfer bus to pick me up
The rooms where cleen and the beds nice.
Very close to the city centre - easy to find shops & cafes. Very close to the city underpass, also building work began at 6.30 am across the road.
Best price (comparable to hostels) but very clean and comfortable. It's probably the best price/benefit in the region.
room is cold, noisy next to street
Very clean room, central location. Quite good breakfast. Hotel stuff is helpful and friendly. Didn't like the shower. There was problem with hotel booking system, and they charge for the room twice.
The staff were very helpful with queries re transport, restaurants.
only one thing i wanst happy about, we had an early flight even though the breakfast started nice and early but not everyone wants to eat straight away after waking up. i wanted to make some sandwiches for me and my partner instead eating the breakfast but been told we cant take the food out only if we pay extra, didnt get that cos we payed for breakfast why couldnt we take it with us?
The Thon Hotel Munch offers the basics: clean room; no shared bathroom; and breakfast. The hotel location is not the most convenient
Location was perfect inj the centre The view from our room was on all on the next buildning behind
It was central, and the breakfast was good. I had a single room which was tiny. You could barely fit in the shower, and I am a thin person. Also, the shower screen door could not be closed properly, it only closed two thirds of the way due to the sink preventing it from closing. Very poorly designed bathroom. Also, the room included tea and coffee, which I was charged for even though I did not touch the tea bags or coffee. I enquired about it, and was told it did not matter that I didn\t use the tea bags or coffee, as it was inclusive, which I was not impressed with. To me, I felt as though it would be similar to be being charged for the mini bar when you do not consume anything, so I thought it was silly.
It was very located very central. The staff was very service-minded. Breakfast was not luxurius as in many other hotels but it was enough with everything and it tasted very good.
Old room, number of stairs to luggage room,
Location of the hotel was excellent. Perfectly situated within walking distance of Oslo's city center. Proximity to a public parking underground garage was also very good.
The bathroom was very clean and shining The room was a bit narrow
It was a reasonably priced hotel near to the town centre. Staff were helpfull.
Good breakfast, very central location. Very much noise from tramline passing outside the window. The hotel shows obvious need for renovation.
Friendly staff. Good central location. Room & bathroom were very clean with excellent facilities. Fantastic breakfasts. Very enjoyable stay.
Felt at home, safe, freeand convenience to walk around the city.Breakfast is good, clean and all services are well.
Excellent location: 5 min walk to train station & 5 min walk to Aker Brugge (great restaurants & bars). Excellent buffet breakfast (included) - fresh juice, cereal, fresh bread, eggs, bacon, sausages, coffee, fruit, ingredients for sandwiches. Staff were very helpful and had good knowledge of the city and things to do. Comparatively good value for money in an expensive city. No ceiling lights in the room - just bedside lamps.
Even though I had a reservation made a few weeks in advance we did not have a room upon arrival it was overbooked. They sent us to a sister hotel not far from there but we did not like the dark theme there.
the hotel location
Centrally located - near the station as well as the harbour. Room was comfortable and not noisy.
The breakfast buffet was excellent! The hotel is also in a central, safe location, close to the train station, bus and T-Bane. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I didn't realize that there would only be one bed instead of two. I assumed a double would have 2 beds. Also I think the heat might get turned off after midnight? It would be very warm before i went to bed, but cold again in the middle of the night.
Very nice staff. Great location -only a few minutes' walk to main Oslo shopping area. Large breakfast included in price. As with everything in Oslo, overpriced for what you get. Carpets and general condition in need of updating.
I had to upgrade as the double room I booked was absolutely tiny! Rooms very small and not good value for money
The staff were very friendly and really helpful. Really liked the chess boards in the waiting area. There was no skin moisturizer in the room, which is not a huge thing but a nice to have.
Eccellent position for a exiting visit and relax in The City, good value for a 4stars hotel, the staff friendly, and breakfast in first class, Thanks lot.
excellent location and very good breakfast no
Good price Door into the room to access to next room without keys
