Pros: Great location, and cozy facilities. Delicious breakfast. Best of all: the hosts. Brenda and Roger made us feel very comfortable and at ease from the first moment. We felt very much at home and will recommend this B&B to friends and family.
Cons: Nothing! Great on every front.
Pros: The hosts are warm and inviting. Like staying with a long lost best friend.
Cons: We had to leave and could only stay one night!
Pros: The couple who greeted us were very warm and welcoming! We wished we could've stayed longer! The room was very sweetly decorated and extremely clean. We had to leave early in the morning, but they accomodated us by giving us wonderful tasty scones and coffee for the road!!
Pros: Hosts took us to a local venue for cape Breton fiddling, took video of the player we expressed interest in, and gave us a cd of parts of the performance. They had videos of other events, including storms in the area in winter, and were happy to tell us about local history and personages. Breakfasts were elegant, and Roger and Brenda always asked if we'd had enough to eat or wanted more. This is the type of B&B we saw in England, Scotland, and Ireland forty years ago!
Pros: The hosts are the hospitality in person, the rooms are perfect (spacious and clean) and the breakfast is delicious! Can't beat the view from the window out on the sea, too! Go there!
Pros: I loved every about this place. The ocean is within walking distance. Sunset was amazing. The owners were extremely welcoming! And breakfast was delicious! I love eggs Benedict & we were so lucky to get home made blueberry scones!!!
Cons: You just have to love this house and the people! So lovely & warm-hearted!
Pros: Our hosts were exceptionally welcoming and had great advice for our trip around the Cabot Trail. They served a very delicious breakfast!
Pros: Absolut amazing stay, wonderful house, and Brenda and Roger are just so nice and heartful hosts, thank you for all! Highly recommended!!!
Pros: Breakfast was very good, and the owners were very friendly we enjoyed our stay you get value for your money
Pros: Brenda and Roger are great people and superb hosts! They were full of knowledge about all the things that make their particular area of the province special. The stories were priceless and the breakfasts deserve special mention too. Best scones and Eggs Benedict ever! We will be returning!
Pros: Roger and Brenda were excellent hosts. They showed me a lot about the local flavor, from the surete winds to the golf courses, neither of which I knew about previously.
Pros: Everything-even the strong winds were an exciting topic of conversation!
When you stay at Cornerstone Motel in Cheticamp, you'll be on the waterfront, just steps from Cape Breton Highlands National Park and 7 minutes by foot from Cheticamp Visitor Centre. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Clean rooms, very kind and helpful staff; great location to Cape Breton National Park.
Cons: Minimal ice available.
Pros: It was easy to find. Staff was friendly and helpful with local information.
Cons: Bed was a double - too small and only one in the room. Office is across the highway from the rooms making it a bit inconvenient and confusing.
Pros: The staff at the front desk was super friendly, helpful and sweet explaining me the area around, where to get breakfast and dinner and what are the most beautiful spots at Cape Breton. ThatLocated directly at the Cabot Trail it is perfect for the night before heading up into the park. Rooms are hugh and I had everything needed for the night.
Pros: Nice location on the Cabot trail. Great fire pit area.
Cons: Great place to stay! Rooms we quite spacious.
Pros: Excellent location within walking distance of the Cape Breton park entrance. Extremely friendly staffs.
Pros: Right outside of the NP
Cons: Room is very small and no restaurants... just a quick stop
Pros: Clean & comfortable room. Lovely quiet surrounding grounds. A little bit of a jaunt back into Cheticamp for restaurants and shopping but quite doable.
Cons: Could use better lighting in the room.
Pros: It is nice and clean motel.
Cons: You have to pay additional money for fridge and microwave.
Pros: Very friendly staff. Well maintained. Extremely clean.
Cons: Great location just outside the park but far enough away for town that breakfast should be available. The bed was too firm for our liking.
Pros: Wonderful welcoming reception with so much helpful advice and recommendations.
Pros: We stayed in a river view room. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was very nice and helpful. Would stay here again!
Auberge Doucet Inn is centrally located in Chéticamp. Free WiFi access is available. Each room here will provide you with a cable TV, air conditioning and satellite channels. Some include a kitchenette. A hairdryer and free toiletries stock the bathroom. You can enjoy mountain view and harbour view from the room. Extras include a desk and ironing facilities. At Auberge Doucet Inn you will find a garden and a terrace. Other facilities offered at the property include luggage storage. The property offers free parking.
Pros: This property was found as described by booking .com There are no complaints about Auberge Doucet. We slept very well but did find that the comings and goings of other patrons through the front entrance was quite noisy and disturbed our sleep in the morning. The breakfast choices were adequate and well prepared. This inn is but a short drive from the village where one is able to find a number sea food restaurants.
Cons: As stated above effort to improve the entrance and ramp leading to it would be helpful. There were no other deficiencies which I could report.
Pros: Terrific location, super clean, great full breakfast options and wonderful helpful staff!!!! A definite must when in Cheticamp NS.
Pros: The room was spacious and clean. The breakfast was delicious and saved us from looking for a place to eat in the morning. The staff were friendly.
Cons: Everything was great.
Pros: Staff extra helpful. Room very clean. Beautiful breakfast ♡
Pros: The room was very neat and clean, and I was pleased to have a refrigerator, since I had not seen one listed on my booking page. The building was up a hill from the main road, and it was very quiet and peaceful.
Cons: I had an upstairs room, and it was a bit awkward getting my luggage up the outside stairway in the rain. I left very early, and did not want to wake the other guests by bumping my bags along next to their rooms.
Cons: property old and should be updated, Furniture and decor VERY dated and mattress soft.
Pros: Our room was fairly large with two queen beds. We had a large window overlooking the ocean in the background. We were really impressed with the staff. They were extremely friendly, helpful and made sure everything was perfect for our stay. The staff were also very accommodating with respect to our needs as cyclists, as we were touring the Cabot Trail by bike. The staff even offered to do a small load of laundry for us (for free) so we didn't need to cycle to the local laundromat. Breakfast was homemade and very good.
Pros: Cheticamp is absolutely gorgeous! The location is very convenient to the Cabot trail and all of its stunning views. The people of the town are friendly, open, and hospitable. We were very impressed with all the charming ladies who ran the inn. They reminded me of being taken care of by your favorite Aunts. If I am ever in this area again, I would like to stay at this inn.
Cons: The beds were somewhat uncomfortable and the sheets could have been a little cleaner but they were really minor inconveniences.
Pros: Clean, spacious room. Good location and friendly staff. We enjoyed a tasty breakfast with friendly conversation. Scenic location overlooking the harbour.
Cons: The weather. Rain and fog, obviously not the Inns fault.
Pros: Friendly staff, great location, great breakfast
Cons: Room was cramped for family of 4
When you stay at The Normaway Inn in Margaree Valley, you'll be near the beach and 8 minutes by car from Margaree Fish Hatchery. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The cabin was rustic and quaint. Loved the porch swing, jacuzzi tub, and although we didn't use the wood stove I'm sure we would have loved it too! Also there were horses surrounding the cabin in a fenced field and it was incredible to watch them while we at our dinner.
Pros: The location
Pros: Normaway Inn is in a league of its own. Time moves slower here. We absolutely loved our stay. The cabin was perfect and the wood stove just put it over the edge
Pros: The quietness was great
Cons: There were men’s cloths left from a previous guest in the drawer as well the air conditioning was not that great
Pros: The grounds
Cons: Not very clean . The hot tubs was full of pubic hair and the comforter was full of stains . The tub had a lot of pink water buildup which is easily removed when wiped clean
Pros: The first impression was beautiful, tall trees, fire pit, horses, first appearance of cabins and the barn for music concert. The staff was very friendly.
Cons: Our dinner was a bit expensive, and it was undercooked. One of the waiters ended up spilling a large amount of coffee all over our table and onto our clothes. No good will was offered by staff for example, a free glass of wine or any type of discount on our meal. Quite disappointed. Also, the furniture was very, very old and in disrepair. The cabin itself was full of cobwebs and I was woken up by spiders in my bed. Super creepy.
Pros: I loved being 'out in the country'. The horses and donkey added 'life' to the surroundings. Beauty all around. The Barn was a great experience. The restaurant was only alright. Better food could have made this a fantastic experience. The little houses reminded me of camp meeting from childhood. Our house was two bedrooms, and since there were only two of us in it, It felt sad and empty. Would have been great with kids to warm it up.
Cons: The restaurant wasn't the best.
Pros: The location is good , the beds were comfortable the fireplace in the room was great . The property is starting to show its age but an overall good experience
Cons: Room very dusty Cobwebs as well
Pros: The best food, so delicious.
Set in Chéticamp, Auberge des Pêcheurs Inn offers air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi. Guests at the inn can enjoy a continental breakfast. Auberge des Pêcheurs Inn offers a sun terrace.
Pros: This was a nice, comfortable home that was well located in Cheticamp. The lady at check in was very friendly and gave us great information about restaurants and an interesting local museum.
Pros: The auberge is very conveniently located within Cheticamp with a great view of the working harbor. The room was comfortable and clean with a large bathtub (which was great for cyclists). Our greeting was warm and welcoming, and we were able to wash our dirty bike clothes, which was a blessing.
Cons: The breakfast was disappointing. The common area is not very comfortable, so you are really just staying in your room.
Pros: Location, property grounds - beautiful garden and tress; comfortable beds
Cons: no refrigerator available in the room
Pros: Cute old facility.
Cons: Traffic noise fro main road.
Pros: Friendly staff at check-in, room was very nice and location in the centre of Cheticamp close to restaurants.
Pros: Nice front porch to sit out on.
Cons: Small room
Pros: The inn is in an old building with small rooms but nicely renovated bathrooms.
Cons: The breakfast was quite poor: mostly toast with jam or peanut butter... yogurts and juice. Something fresh (no packaged) would make for a nice addition. Also the value for money was lower than expected, but I think this is mostly due to the low number of inns/hotels/b&bs in the area.
Pros: The staff was extremely helpful,My elderly father needed a comfortable chair in his bedroom.Simone (lovely woman) actually offered the chair from the lobby and then assisted carrying it to my dads room. It was much appreciated. Nice continental breakfast in a cosy breakfast room. Very clean property.
Cons: The toilets were set close to the wall, not much room, there is no-one on the property at night. The staff leaves a cell phone for emergencies
Pros: It was very clean and comfortable. The bathroom is very big and grand.
Cons: The room is a bit small and the breakfast was not good (subpar continental breakfast with no hot food).
Pros: The staff was very warm and friendly. The breakfast was delicious ( I love the oat cakes ). The room was very clean and comfortable.
Pros: Overall clean, manager was friendly Good location
Cons: A little dated, could be upgraded a bit
Pros: The staff were phenomenal. They were very service oriented and excellent ambassadors for their town.
Pros: good location (ocean front), clean and comfortable room
Cons: small water heating tank. cannot fill a bath tub although re-heating is very rapide.
Pros: Lovely position, overlooking the sea. Spacious and comfortable.
Cons: The kitchen facilities were minimal. Expensive.
Pros: Ocean front property with beautiful vista.
Pros: Friendly, accommodating staff.
Cons: The booking made online wasn't executed correctly (I booked two cabins but only had one prepared for my arrival). This was corrected quickly when they called to let me know the key would be in a drop box as the staff leaves the property at 7:30pm. Had they not called me, we would have only had one cabin upon arrival and I would have had to share a bed with my co-worker. When I arrived, the door to my cabin was wide open and lights were on. Upon inspection to make sure no one else was in there (as it was the cabin they didn't have reserved for my stay); it was vacant. As I went back out to the car I closed the cabin door because it was pouring rain only to find out that it automatically locks!! I was outside in the pouring rain. I called the motel and my call was answered by someone off site who was happy to come down and unlock my door but was 10-15 minutes away. Not convenient for either of us at 10:30pm. I was disappointed with the dark brown towels and facecloths in the bathroom. Normally hotel sheets and towels are white (which assures you they are clean). The driveways around the property are not paved and in bad repair with very large potholes.
Pros: Chalets were clean, comfortable and spacious.
Cons: Wifi was pretty much non-existent. At one stage there was a storm so lots of places didn’t have wifi, but when others did have it the chalets still did not.
Pros: Loved the view and the road to walk along the ocean. Evette, property manager, was exceptionally helpful and efficient.
Cons: Bugs in bath at night and cleanliness.
Pros: location. Directly on water. Convenient to shopping and restaurants.
Pros: View and very cozy and shower with stool And all the grab bars
Cons: The small fridge
Pros: Good location. Nice breakfast. Room is clean.
Cons: Bathroom is a little outdated.
Pros: We really enjoyed our stay here! Our room had recently been updated and the beds were quite comfortable. The breakfast buffet was incredible - many options, including bacon, eggs, ham and french toast! The location was right on the main stretch and just minutes away from the national park.
Cons: There was ample seating in the room but it was sort of an awkward setup. The bathroom wasn't updated but was clean. My companion had terrible luck getting just a hot shower - it was either scalding or freezing - but I personally didn't have any issues. We had to be mindful of our windows as we were directly across from the restaurant and employees could look in if we didn't close the curtains.
Pros: The included hot breakfast was excellent value
Cons: Layout of the hotel with multiple buildings is very confusing
Pros: Great view from our room. Great having the clean laundry facility.
Pros: Very good buffet breakfast. Staff was great.
Cons: Coffee not very good.
Cons: Windows were broken and could not be opened. Not having access to fresh air made the room unacceptable.
Pros: Laurie's motor Inn is ideally located to begin your journey on the Cabot trail. Staff was very friendly and efficient. Rooms are spacious and clean. Beds are comfortable. Breakfast was OK. There are many Restaurants within walking distance of the Inn.
Cons: Everything was good
Pros: Loved the included breakfast
Cons: Thought it was a bit pricey
Pros: The location was good and the hotel serves a really nice breakfast. The bed was comfortable.
Cons: The room is very basic with air conditioning however, room smelt musty because of the humidity. The room and building could use some upgrades.
Pros: Cleanliness, food and friendly staff
Cons: Back stairs from room 55 to outside need upgrades
Pros: Breakfast was excellent and the service was good, very friendly. They are down to earth people. But the entrance was through back door and kitchen of home so it felt like we invaded their house. They requested we remove our shoes which was a major inconvenience as we needed to run out to the car periodically.
Cons: Shared bathroom for all guests. And only a curtain type shower in an old fashioned bathtub. Quaint but inconvenient. Doors to room didn’t close tightly.
Cons: Nothing as such
Pros: Room was as described, comfortable and spacious. Hosts were helpful, friendly. There was a power failure throughout the region so breakfast was modified - cereal, fruit, milk - hosts did everything possible to serve guests.
Pros: Friendly hosts, wonderful old house with interesting history.
Pros: The hosts were welcoming and chatty and knowledgeable about the local area. Quirky cottage style decor comfortable and clean. Nice breakfast and good location. Thanks guys!
Cons: The weather was bad... Not their fault!
Pros: The hosts husband was friendly, and breakfast was good
Cons: Upon arrival we were told the rate was incorrect and we would be charged an extra $30 over the quoted rate. She said she thought we were a family of 2 adults and 2 kids but since we were 2 couples/4 adults it would cost more. Our reservation clearly stated 4 adults but the lady host said it was a mistake. Changing the price after we have arrived is very poor business. It not like when we arrived at 9pm we have a choice to find somewhere else so we just paid it but its not right. Our booking showed: Your reservation 1 night, 1 room Your group 4 adults Check-in Monday 27 August 2018 (12:00 PM - 6:00 PM) Check-out Tuesday 28 August 2018 (8:00 AM - 10:00 AM) The Inn is a beautiful old heritage home but it is in a very cluttered home and there is no common area for guests so upon arrival, we basically had to go straight to bed. We had a shared bathroom which is fine, but it was filthy. It was an old tub with a round shower rod and the plastic shower curtain hung several inches into the bottom of the tub. Im not sure which was dirtier, the shower curtain or the bottom of the tub but it was unusable. None of the 4 of us showered that evening or morning. The bathroom sink was also not sanitary, it had been painted many times and many layers of old paint were half peeled off so again, we barely used it and got out as soon as possible in the morning. We did not feel comfortable or welcomed by the lady of the house. I would NOT recommend this Inn.
Pros: very friendly and nice hosts - make you feel at home and part of family
Pros: The house is really nice with many decorations from 1910s.The furnitures are beautiful.
Cons: it'a horrible experience. that was a raining day,we cancelled lots of activities.I called the host toask her if we could use her kitchen to steam lobster.she said"no".We arrived with heavy rain, said want touse her kitchen to have bread as dinner She became angry with me and told me she was tired with talking me about lobster. The worst part was she just said that you should cancel it on booking right now, what kind of person said that to her customer on a rainy day. There is only one small bathroom with no shampoo and the bed was uncomfortable.
Pros: We had a really nice stay at the Bed and Breakfast! Everyone was very friendly and welcoming.
Cons: Just one bathroom for 3 families
Pros: Very nice , light breakfast
Located in Margaree Harbour, Duck Cove Inn is by the ocean, within a 15-minute drive of Margaree Harbour Range Rear Lighthouse and Polycarpe Glass Art. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Location was great! Rooms good.
Cons: No AC in rooms meant for very uncomfortably hot sleep. Dining experience at the restaurant was good but they need to stop using packets of ketchup instead of bottles for those dining in - environment and experience compromised unnecessarily. I’m dining in on lobster, don’t cheapen the experience and make us create unnecessary waste.
Pros: I wouldnt know
Cons: Booked a room for my son and i and noted thati was unsure of arrival time. Got to the placedead tired and with my son who has brain injury and they werent there and also wouldnt answer the phone... Because we were booked we thought we were ok but when i then tried to book somewhere, everything was booked. I got a few short mins of sleep in their parking lot and couldnt find a placw to check into till 3pm today so im exhausted and just wish i was home :( i should have beenmade aware at least. The booking was accepted so why would i try to find something else....wasnt a very good feeling and not knowing anyone, no shower, nowhere to even use a washroom
Pros: The Duck Cove Inn has a beautiful view! I also loved that the room had a mini refrigerator so that we could have wine ready as soon as we got back from dinner! The staff was very friendly and helpful in identifying some restaurants that would be open after our late check in! The room was VERY clean too.
Cons: There was no AC, but there was an oscillating fan that did keep us pretty cool. The temperature doesn't get too hot there at night, so we were fine.
Cons: Needs updating, and bed uncomfortable. Air conditioning didn’t work well.
Pros: The owner was nice and funny. The view. Walking distance from the most beautiful beach. Margaree harbour. Very comfy beds.
Pros: Not much
Cons: Old decor Smelt musty Paid too much money Had air conditioning, the hydro went out no back up generator
Pros: View, quiet
Cons: A/c was very noisy
Pros: This is a well run facility with friendly staff and a wonderful view.
Pros: The view from our room on the river was awsome and the staff very friendly. The food in the restaurant was good.
Cons: This is an old motel and our room had a bit of a musty smell. I left the patio door open to keep the air circulating all night. The bed spreads look like they are from the 70's so updating them would give a definite boost to an old hotel. The bottom of the tub was clean but looked like it was peeling or had sticker glue. Beds a bit firm for me, but not uncomfortable.
Located on the Cabot Trail in Cheticamp, this property offers free WiFi. Cape Breton Highlands National Park is 7.3 km away. Harbour Restaurant & Bar offers a variety of cuisine including fish, soups and chicken. Red and white wines are available along with beers and malt scotches. Le Portage Golf Club is a 5-minute drive from the Wind Suites Auberge Bay. Local activities included whale watching, horseback riding and hiking.
Pros: Great food in the popular restaurant
Cons: Windows do not open. Poor shower vacillates .
Pros: Good location. Staff friendly. Bed was very hard and uncomfortable. Didn’t sleep well at all. Restaurant on site had good food.
Cons: Beds uncomfortable. Also,I don’t know why none of the motels in the area have King size beds. We don’t mind a queen if no other choice, but prefer a king.
Pros: The view was incredible. The food at their restaurant was delicious.
Pros: We loved being on the water and the chairs to sit out on the deck.
Cons: The lights were so bright outside .
Cons: The room was extremely hot. AC was not turned on and shades wide open with the heat of the sun beating in.
Pros: Excellent location on the harbourfront. Well-equipped and spacious suite. Excellent food in the restaurant and great view.
Cons: Our suite was extremely hot on our arrival after a sunny day despite the air conditioning. It would have helped if the curtains on the south-facing windows had been kept closed during the day.
Pros: The view from Bayview #1 is the absolute best!
Pros: Spectacular harbor view. Fresh from the ocean snow crab dinner.
Cons: Small parking lot taken up by dinner guests.
Pros: The staff at the restaurant were great
Pros: Spacious, on harbor with outside sitting space
Cons: Weird location under a restaurant, checked in inside restaurant, parking iffy, never saw staff
Located in Margaree Forks, Margaree Riverview Inn is on a river, a 2-minute drive from Doyles Bridge Pool and 8 minutes from Margaree Salmon Museum. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Breakfast is not included. Location to family, stores, coast
Pros: THERE WAS A POWER OUTAGE AND THE OWNER WAS MOST ACCOMMODATING WITH THE SITUATION WE LOVED THE AC
Cons: NOT MUCH AROUND THERE FOR RESTAURANTS
Pros: Rooms comfortable , pool was nice , view beautiful . Had all amenities
Cons: Not enough dishes for 7 people in the King suite . Only three bowls etc .... floor had something like sand on it ; gritty . Had to wear shoes
Pros: Location is great, we had three beds in our room, so perfect for us. It had a small kitchen and bathroom which was adequate for our 2 night stay. The aircon was adequate in one room and the other had a stand alone fan, which was also okay. The pool was good and a few restaurants nearby that were very good.
Cons: Minor details, like not enough bowls in the cupboard, and internet/wifi wasn't the greatest (but its pretty hard to get in that location anyway).
Pros: quiet if the neighbors were quiet.
Cons: though there is is space in the room, there was hardly any surface to place personal items, like a table. you could hear the neighbors, so when they moved in and we were already in going to sleep mode, it disturbed for a while.
Pros: It was a lovely stay.
Cons: We thought there was a bbq available for use but didn't see it.
Pros: The location on the Cabot Trail was great. Room was clean. Beds comfortable
Cons: Bathtub tap leaked cold water constantly, so much so that the tub had been badly stained. So this leak was happening long before we used the room. A small amount of water seeped onto the floor between the tub and toilet. No breakfast was offered, while most of our other rooms at other motels, for similar or even cheaper rates, did offer a nice breakfast. We had to Google search to find a nearby Breakfast venue, since the motel is in a rural/forested setting.
Pros: Scenery was alright in the area
Cons: Could not see river so name dose it match view, driveway small ,need to cut down bushes so you can see sign leading into place
Cons: The room had poor lighting and no comfortable chair to sit in.
Pros: The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean.
