Most beautiful and comfortable place , our room was bigger than expected. Breakfast was very good quality, perhaps except coffe. The staff wonderful. We would definitely come back.
Coffee at breakfast
The architecture inside the hotel was stunning. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The location was okay, to get there you had to walk down alleys. There was a free breakfast which was okay.
When we arrived we were helped with our bags but a young man who didn’t work there but said he did. He demanded money in return for his help quite aggressively. This is not the hotels fault to be fair. In our room there were slits on the bathroom door so it was easy to see into the bathroom leaving no privacy.
The MOST Instagrammable interior I have ever been in - undergoing major maintenance while we there there and anyway not a shiny-five-star kind of place - so very slightly less "polished" but the people were lovely.
The "front-desk" was behind a weird glass/metal partition. You will be walking down a couple of narrow alleyways and a subterranean hallway to get inside - but fear not, the building opens up into the magical areas you see in the pics, and the room was every bit as weirdly wonderful as the pictures. Avoid the spa - indifferent massage and tiny "hammam" there are FANTASTIC options just around the corner.
The Riad itself is beautiful - very ornate designs and multiple courtyards. I would recommend coming to just view the pool area and get a drink at the main courtyard.
We stayed in the Ourika room and it was terrible: 1) the room smells TERRIBLE; it smells like old clothes, old drainage due to the old pipes. Staying in that room for 2 nights has my nose congested from breathing in the stinking air. When we asked them if we could move to any other room or sleep in the bar area because we didn't want to spend any time in that room we were told no and that someone would come up to freshen the room - the person brought a jasmine oil which barely covered the terrible smell. All our clothes still have the smell from that room 2) the room is dimly lit and there is ZERO light where you would be showering. We had to bring in the bedside lamp to even take a shower. The shower pressure is very low and the way the shower-head stands (or lack thereof) makes taking a shower as a female (washing hair) very difficult.
The beauty of the place: The plants, the palace, the birds, the pool, and the cats. Very nice porter by the way.
The waiter kissing my hair and talking about how my husband should treat me sexually, when we left the table in the restaurant to go to our room.
