Excellent value for money. Good size room , very clean and quiet. Excellent breakfast. Great value for money. Will become my hotel of choice in the Dundee area
it looked really nice and was close to town center most of the staff didn't speak good English and the breakfast was very disorganized and over cooked
Unfortunately we were all unwell with a sickness bug during our stay - the staff were brilliant - showed consideration, asking how our little boys was, the kitchen offered to make him something that wasn't on the menu and the night porter brought us fresh bed linen during the night. Very impressed by the consideration and professianlism of all staff. Would recommend it to family and friends. nothing
Good quality hotel and public areas very comfortable. Staff were all very good and friendly particularly the breakfast waitress who was extremely friendly with all guest, and nothing was too much trouble. Absolutely nothing.
Comfortable hotel set within nice grounds. Bar/lounge area was very relaxing, tastefully decorated and nicely furnished. Breakfast was organised very well.
very welcoming the hotel is not near the shops or city centre - £7 in a taxi each way
Bed nice and comfortable. Powerful shower and plenty of hot water in the morning. Huge breakfast available.
The upgrade to Executive room for £5 was great value I tried to get the Internet on my laptop but it wouldn't work. There was a number to call for help but no one ever answered and I tried about 20 times at least, I also left a message but im still waiting for a reply. The girl at reception was great she cancelled this from my bill and couldn't appoligise enough
Good facilities fair price
The grounds were very very nice. A hedge maze as well as woodland walk. The flowers around the property were very colorful. We spent a very nice late morning through the afternoon on a rainny day reading in the sitting room with Tea and soup. Very comfortable and nice. We didn't have a news paper while we were there. They found later that their fax was down so their order didn't go in.
Friendly staff, quiet and and very clean room. Overall a very nice hotel. The room was a little dark and the furnishings tend to accentuate this. The duvet on the bed was somewhat oversized for summer and it was hard to get the room cool enough. To be fair, I did not ask to have it changed.
Everyone was really friendly,we were made to feel very welcome. We would love to back for longer next time. nothing
Newly refurbished rooms were lovely, lots of space and exceptionaly clean. Location was quiet and the restaurant food was best I have tasted in a long time all for a reasonable price. will definately go again. could have done with better directions from site. Not hotels fault
The people were very friendly and it was near to the shops
A nicely modernised old coaching inn offering friendly service, food and comfortable en-suite accommodation convenient to Perth and the A9 to Inverness.
A very relaxing but s very good value for money they made you feel very welcome we had no complaints about this hotel and we would certainly return
Dinner to a very high standard. a good Breakfast. Room and beds comfortable. Staff worked very hard to keep guests happy. Bathroom door that would not close. (Hotel informed). It looked as though hotel was in middle of upgrading (needed). Room was above public bar which was noisy.
Hotel was clean and comfortable, well positioned in a small villageand staff were courteous cooked breakfast was poor and room was small
the staff were pleasant and helpfull, the room was clean and tidy excellent meals and a good breakfast
Friendly, helpful staff. Good food. Nice location. Room was just right. No bad points.
Very nice staff.Friendly atmosphere. Noisy Friday night. Our room was just above the pup.Smoke came into our room.
Welcomed with a cup of tea when the room was not ready. Lack of view from room.
Restaurant and food excellent. Dinner menu choice, presentation and service of very high standard.
Hotel in a nice picturesque location very quiet town with nothing to do at nights which didn't bother us. It was clean and food very good had an evening meal which was excellent and breakfast worth getting up for. The bathroom could have been cleaner but was ok basic but all you need. The bed wasn't very comfortable we rolled into the middle of bed therefore a new mattress would be a good buy. We were above the bar but at 11pm all was quiet.
The food was excellent and beds very comfortable; however, the room was very small (ok for one night), there was no telephone in room to contact staff re. how to turn on t.v. and shower. Also, one towel/person was a little skimpy-- and bathroom floor was dirty.Would recommend this hotel, but with improvements noted. See above.
Thoroughly enjoyed relaxing in the bar in the evening. Dinner and breakfast were also enjoyable and relaxed.
In my type of work, I travel a lot, and have stayed in many different hotel chains. The main thing for us was the very clean and well kept room which was furnished to a high standard, we also had a great view of the Victoria dock. The health spa and gym facilities are excellent. I will certainly recommend this hotel to my friends and if I return to Dundee in the future, I will choose to stay in this hotel.
staff were very helpful and the hotel was great value and use of leisure facilities was great nothing
The room,Service,The Staff,Luxury,
The bedrooms are spacious
kindness of personel, view from room (317) and overall look and spirit of the Hotel. Cleanliness of bathroom (black spots in corners of the shower) + state of the painting on the walls and closet doors in the entrance of the room. Rooms could also use a minibar.
Best value for money on our recent trip
Food and atmosphere. Location was good too. Round pin plugs meant I could not charge my phone
Its very central and a lovely location on the quay in Dundee. Hotel is quite modern rooms are clean and well appointed. Bed was a bit soft, bits of the hotel such as corridors are a bit tired round the edges.
Lovely hotel, rooms very chic, comfortable and stylish. Excellent Facilities, great view over quay, and nice central location, highly recommend this hotel to everyone.
The room was immaculate with wonderful views over the city. Staff are exceptionally helpful and pleasant. Excellent meal in restaurant. Spa easy to access and good surroundings.
Dindee Backackers was very comfortable, alougth not very good for lame or disabled ,,while there was an elevator this was located on 1st floor and stairs had to be climbed to get to it. Only one complaint and it was the radiator in bathroom was far too warm
location, common spaces, staff room filthy and never once cleaned while we were there for 4 days and constant noise
The location was brilliant, just across from Caird Hall in the city centre. It was only a ten minute walk to pubs/clubs/restaurants. We were in a twin en suite room which was very large and had soft comfy homely beds. The shower would vary from full blast power shower to a trickle very suddenly. It took a long time to get lathered up and hosed down when it was shower time
Situated between the main shopping centres so very easy to get to. Easy to access and efficient booking in/payment process. The bed was very cosy to sleep in!!!! No chair or tv in the room so was very difficult to entertain a small child. Was not shown the tv room or kitchen facilities by any staff so didn't know what the procedure for there use was. Room was at the front of the building and was extremely noisy during the night.
A clean and inexpensive room with a comfortable bed. Centrally located in the city. Friendly and helpful staff. Room lighting a bit dark - but heck it's a bedroom! Late night background noise might annoy some people.
location, ease of access, friendly staff
Beautiful and comfortable envoironment, delicious dinner. None.
room and food were ok, we received what we paid for
The room was very comfortable and the staff was helpful. The breakfast was great and the hotel was very child friendly. Even had a high chair set at every meal we ate.
Close to the fishing. Clean. Staff tried hard . Food good
It was very welcoming, the staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel was very authentic to Scotland and it was very nice to see it had kept its character. The food was excellent and the service was efficient.
Friendly helpful staff. Nothing hotel was great.
Have good areas in the room. Good cleaning. Having to take a shower on your knees/sitted down because of the low cyling.
The friendly staff and the atmosphere, we immediately felt we were welcome, excellent food, a very enjoyable stay.
the breakfast was lovly, all staff where excilent. there was no fault at all with the sevice or hotel.
Clean hotel and staff very friendly Room was too small and spartan, no proper dressing table, no hairdryer and not enough surfaces to lay anything down. En-suite was too small. Breakfast was poor with not enough choice. For someone who cannot have citrus juice I was left with nothing to drink.
Nothing The room, the location, the staff,...
Room and bedding was clean. Receptionist was pleasant and friendly. Ensuite shower room was small: no where to hang bath/shower towels; toliet too close to wash hand basin. Blinds or a net curtian at bedroom window would aid privacy. Service at breaakfast, whilst pleasant, was questionable in terms of availability of food/drink and efficiency.
The fact that we could have the use of the microwave ovens and cook our own meals. The ability to have continental breakfasts at an early time in the mornigs.
The view was excellent and the breakfast good and the rooms warm and adequate. I would have liked a bedside lamp to read by at night and had to get out of bed to turn off the light. The dining room was very cold too.
The owner was delightful and the whole flavour of the place reminded us of a place where we used to work (a wee bit Faulty Towers in the nicest way) The breakfast was nice and the diningroom was pleasing to the eye. The room was too small for a double, as was the en suite. The TV did not work, there was a problem with the door lock (which broke and therefore remained unlocked) and the blind was stained.
sheets & towels clean carpet filthy-did not look like it had been hoovered for a long time-no milk on first day-too far out of town
Helpful friendls staff no
I liked absolutely nothing about this hotel and would not stay there again if they paid me! The car park was inaccessable. The bins in my room had not been emptied since the previous occupants left. The plumbing rumbled all night long keeping me awake. The "restaurant" was an Indian take away which was open to the general public and they served the worst curry I have ever tasted.
Every single member of staff was polite friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and the facilities perfect. We felt relaxed and would definitely return.
Food was exellent value 4 money Not enough parking places
friendly, efficient staff and excellent food - breakfast, high tea (up to 7pm) and bar snacks (up to 9pm) are are as good as you'll get. Formal a la carte menu very good but expensive. Reception staff and restaurant staff outstanding. Bar area very informal and enjoyable, relaxing with helpful, attentive staff. Bar prices (including meals) very good. Stayed in a twin room with my son. Room clean and functional but dated with tiny TV. Bathroom very dated. Beds were small singles and very, very soft/squeaky mattresses - the beds would be the main reason I would think twice about returning. Also at £88/night B&B for a twin room I think the hotel is a bit overpriced - £75/night would be about right.
We only stayed the one night and found it to be a nice clean and friendly hotel with staff only too happy to help you. We eat out in town but if we stay again we will eat in as the food looked great and the smells from the restaurant were mouth watering. Breakfast was fantastic with plenty fresh fruit and a large fry up if you wanted it. We were woken up at just after 6:30 with a constant drumming noise that lasted around 20 mins, spoke to staff and was told they were having problems with heating system and they could not apologize enough and hoped it didn't spoil the stay. Have to say it did not as we have a young son who gets up at that time most mornings anyway. We were aware of the traffic noise when we first went to the room but what do you expect from a hotel in a town so no real problem.
Nice family atmosphere
THe staff were excellent as was the food. Leisure facilities for changing were poor as was the fact that there was no attendant overseeing the pool or 'mini' gym.
Cosy atmosphere and relaxing environment. Complimentary glass of wine and bathrobe were not expected but very welcome. Staff serving the morning breakfast was not very attentive.
The hotel was very centrally located and the staff and owner were extremely friendly. I had read that they had renovations done but, I think the annexe part of the building does need a face lift and the rooms could be better furnished. I cannot fault the hotel staff who were so helpful and could not do enough for you. I would stay there again but, next time I would go for the superior rooms. The heating was not very good and the room we stayed in was worked off the building gas central heating system, which was not on very often, all other rooms had adjustable heating system. I found the room extremely cold and it was at the top of the building. During this time the weather was extremely windy, and raining (this is in Scotland) The room furniture is out dated and could do with modernising, it all looks very tired and you cannot see any sign of rennovation work unless this was carried out to the main building. The bathrooms are very basic and old fashioned no waste bins in there and an old net curtain round the sink to hide the pipes!!
Helpfull & pleasant staff, nice rooms, good food
The food was very good. When we arrived the room was cold and smelt damp, although the staff did provide us with an extra heater which made things much better.
speedy check in and out cold in bedroom
The only thing good about the Royal Hotel was the breskfast. Access to the bedrooms was cold, dull and dreary. Difficult to find staff if you required them.
Hotel decor poor and carpets very dirty dull and dreary overall
The proximity to the building where we attended a meeting; the nearness of the shops; the quality of the meals. We enjoyed our stay.
area the hotel was. did not like the hotel attitude.
The staff were very friendly, and gave information about local entertainment and activities
free Internet access and very comfiortable rooms
The pleasant surroundings , the pleasant room and the of the staff. I would stay again.
Nice big bed and room, which looked relatively new. Very clean too. Near airport and Ninewells Hospital. Shower was a bit unpredictable on the 2nd night, fluctuated between hot and cold.
From the moment we arrived until the time to leave, we were very well taken care of. The staff are faultless, always smiling and pleasant and nothing is too much trouble. The views from the restaurant are lovely and we had some of the best meals... try the trawlermans platter..... delicious. The room was a very good size and Spotlessly clean. Many thanks to all, it was a lucky find for us, and we will be back.
Excellent restaurant , reasonably priced . Friendly staff . We were kept awake for several hours during the night by noisy wedding guests and taxi drivers sounding horns to attract their clients at 01.30am .
Clean and safe for a lone female traveller It was a bit too hot for me and the floor boards squeaked a lot
A big bed and good food! There was nothing that I can say I didn't like.
Generaly, a well appointed hotel. Relaxed athmosphere. Room allocated was primarily intendes for a disabled guest/guests. We had no impairments and would have appreciated a room with bath - we must stress that we did not ask for a room change.
Excellent Breakfast - Fresh Fruit No
The variety of the breakfast and staff so pleasant at all times The fact that to move around had to travel bt taxi a hotel courtesy car would have been nice to travel into town?
Very comfortable, good food, punctual, and helpful staff
Good location with off street free parking. Nice room with excellent en suite facilities. Owners welcoming and helpful. Room did get a little chilly but the weather was unseasonably cold.
We liked the on suite facilities a large bathroom.Staff were friendly. Furniture was old rather than antique.T V did not work .
conversations with hosts. helpfulness. some of company found bed and pillows hard.
good breakfast, room was very comfortable with good bathroom facilities
The staff were very kind and helpful about my coeliac, My husband found the bed too small.
The breakfasts were excellent
The warm welcome given and the extremely helpful manner throughout our stay, being very informative of the area, with very homely accomodation.
The bed was fantastic.
Very comfortable, excellent service none
friendly people clean rooms
the room was lovely. free wifi bathroom was a bit shaby but clean and functioning
Good rooms, helpful staff and nice meals Was a bit difficult for my father who is disabled
The warm welcoming from the staff. the breakfast was great. My room was a little cold.
Comfortable, spacious, excellent restaurant and food, nice location, fair walk into city centre, but enjoyable No, cannot complain, it was my third visit, and will continue to use this hotel
There was a warm welcome and during my stay, nothing was too much trouble for my hosts. Decor, furniture and fittings are top class and my room was large and immaculate. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order and generous: a substantial meal and a pleasure. The small bar is beautifully furnished and welcoming. Parking is easy and free. The hotel is undergoing a complete renovation and will rectify its one deficiency (the lack of a restaurant) by the spring. The renovation work does not impinge on guests.
staff very friendly and helpful
Breakfast was very good. Room was nice and warm with very friendly staff. No soap in bathroom and no shower.
The people who ran it were lovely the rooms were a littel tiers and in need of some TLC
The room was of good size, nicely furnished and clean. The staff at the front desk were nice and ready to help. The continental breakfast was good. The bed was a bit hard and the internet availablity was only from 9am to 9pm. Had to wait for the office to open at 9am to checkout.
It's clean, comfortable and cheap. Nothing.
None The buildings were old and in poor repair. The place was unwelcoming. We were disturbed until 3am by noisy guests running up and down the corridor shouting and swearing outside our flimsy insecure room door.
Arrived late - night staff were freidly and helpful People (other guests) were smoking outside our room door, and the corridor smelt of smoke. I feel uncomfortable opening the windows on ground floor. The beds had plastic covers on them that were sticky and uncomfortable
Very friendly helpful staff. Nice clean well equipped room. None.
Large room with comfortable couch for sitting on. Heating on before we got there so room warm and welcoming. Lack of lighting outdoors and uneven surface on car park. Towels a bit small and only one glass available in bathroom.
location and friendliness of staff he bed was really uncomfortable very hard as on a wooden base. The pilloqa way too soft
Liked location ; quiet, no traffic noise, close to major roads, nice to have 'security' on airport, which helps safeguard the hotel, and spacious room, pet friendly.,which important to us.
Very nice rooms, small prices. Breakfast was very simple.
Clean, friendly and good value for money Breakfast was limited, more choice of food and drinks
Easy to find, excellent location to town centre shoppping, plenty of amenities close by. Excellent, clean, modern rooms. Excellent choice of breakfast and very helpful staff. Recommended
The availablity of wireless internet. The room was cold during the day.
The restaurant was fantastic we ate there both nights, the bar was friendly and cosy. We had a huge bathroom also unfortunately there were builders walking on scaffolding outside our window all day
Good food. Pleasant staff. Breakfast area very small when queuing to be served. Bed uncomfortable. Room very small. In need of up-grade. Shower very inconvenient in bath. 40 to 50 young people gathered in the street untill 3.30am very, very roudy. Expensive compared to others in the area.
Very comfortable and good location
Helpful and friendly staff rather tired decor. old fashioned.
everything especially the food
Charming and accommodating staff. I arrived at 6.45am, exhausted and they immediately let me check in (6 hours early!) and arranged breakfast. Lovely quiet lounge for coffee and conversation.
Helpful staff and closeness to city centre
staff and facilities where excellent nothing was a problem for them, any queries where dealt with quickly. Rooms where excellent although I would suggest they update their matresses, choice of breakfast was great but a bit slow to fill up containers.Would suggest they have someone to monitor this so they can react quickly. Otherwise a fab hotel.
The staff were helpful but more importantly they were also cheerful. n/a
The reception was friendly and efficient, the room was comfortable and staff were pleasant and helpful
bar and food selection good room too hot
Pleasant location good facilities
Friendly staff, great breakfast Shower in room 126 was extremely variable despite following exact instructions provided. lock on bathroom door did not work.
Best breakfast choice ever
Comfortable, Helpful Staff and a good night's sleep
The rooms are superb, it really does feel like being at home and the staff were great.
Friendly staff, reasonable bar prices Buffet breakfast was good, but we had to wait on both mornings
Room very clean, good breakfast, good location to an on the road trip around Scotland
Friendliness of staff Breakfast
a large room a second chair and a "moving pipe" in the bath would be better
Nothing I hate the plastic undersheets some hotels use. I understand why they use them but I asked for it to be removed & it wasnt. The bed was only acceptable (Lenny Henry must have got a new one in the Ad). The bathroom smelt stale. The pub next door was closed when I arrived on Friday & had a poor selection of Vegetarian food available by 8pm on Sat. Disaster - Use the one in Dundee city unless you are self contained
always comfortable and spacious enough for a couple of days with our little one had problem with card machines due to a fault their end and had the drive again t get cash to pay on arrival having already travelled 9 hours that day and arriving at 10pm with a 2 year old so was rather annoyed that they couldn't take their payment the following morning as we were booked in for two days and it was their fault not ours .
The friendliness of the staff and the cleanliness of the room
Met all our requirements
it was handy for what we wanted to do tour around the area
staff were all very friendly i would have plug sockets by the bed 4 people 2 charge phones
Staff friendly and helpful None
