This is a Hostel, Not a Hotel
This is a well located hostel. However, the description when we booked it made it seem like a hotel which it is decidedly not. The place was very clean and had a well equipped communal kitchen. It was a block and a half from a very nice beach.
Again, the description made us think we were booking at a hotel, not a hostel. We were greeted by a somewhat curt receptionist and handed sheets to make our own bed. We were informed that we needed to strip our own beds on departure and that checkout time was 9:30 which is ridiculous even for Australia. Our room, which was en suite, had no towels, not even a bathmat, and we were told that we could hire them for $2 a day. We were also told that we were not allowed to have any food or beverage in our room at all - no morning coffee, no afternoon glass of wine, nothing - because they had just cleaned the carpet. The room description made it sound like there was a tv in the room. There is indeed a flat screen tv but it was in the common area and was very small. We were comfortable even though there was no heat or air conditioning with the window open but then it was exceptionally noisy with sound carrying from the common areas right into our window. If we were looking for a well located, over priced hostel, we would have been satisfied, but we were looking for the hotel that the website described and this just wasn't it.
