The bed was comfortable, the building is beautiful on the inside and the many amenities.
The area it’s in is very dangerous and the breakfast is small.
VERY NICE PLACE, BIG AN CLEAN ROOM, GODE BREAFAST, Late checkin no problem
BED WAS A LITTLE HARD
The warm welcome, the great location, the super friendly staff, the common areas. The complimentary breakfast was basic but good for us.
The hostel could use some basic renovation such as a paint job in the room. The faucet in our bathroom was loose and it felt like it was about to come off. There were also some broken floorboards that need to be repaired as they can be dangerous.
Location - right in central historico , friendly staff , wifi worked well, 24 hour security guard. Super clean. Easy to get a good nights sleep as no noise after 9 pm
They have free water at breakfast only then they take the machine away .your forced buy bottled water and add to this planets plastic problem as you cant drink the water from the tap in mexico .No kitchen to cook your own food. No fans or aircon in room . very basic breakfast
The hostel was perfectly centered in the city. Easy walk to the historic center and attractions such as Bellas Artes, Torre Latinoamericana, Templo Mayor and Zocalo. Rooms were perfect for our week stay, we had a shared restroom but never really shared it with anyone else. They have lots of restrooms that you never run into issues. Staff was incredible, available 24/7. Doorman made us feel secure while inside the facilities. Simple breakfast with coffee, juice, cereals and bolillos. Enough to fuel you before making your food stops while out in the city.
One thing and one thing only, the location. Since it is a pedestrian street it does get pretty lonely and dark after sun goes down. All the nearby shops and food stalls close and street becomes very empty and quiet. We almost got mugged on our way back around 11pm, stay very alert and walk in groups if doing so. Otherwise I would recommend getting a taxi to drop you off on Del Carmen street side. We learned our lesson after that.
With a stay at Casa San Ildefonso, you'll be centrally located in Mexico City, just a 4-minute walk from Templo Mayor and 7 minutes by foot from Metropolitan Cathedral (Catedral Metropolitana).
