9.5 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was original and tasty. This B&B was in great shape and very well appointed.
Cons: Property and stay exceeded expectations in all areas.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place is a must see B&B; Jeff and Bonnie really went all out to create a truly magical place in a small university town that seems to have it all. Their hospitality creates the impression that one has returned to visit with close relatives or friends, not checking in at a hotel. The breakfast they offered was superb.
Cons: The weather was unusually and unexpectedly cold; it made exploring the nearby downtown area difficult.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: My husband and I were greeted by a hostess and immediately shown to our spacious room on the second floor. They have thought of ALL of the details and the furnishings were perfect for the Victorian house. The entire property was beautiful and a perfect location, a short two blocks from the Shakespeare Theatre and right across the street from the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library. the common areas were so nice, the drawing room, the piano room and the entry (with cookies:)) The offering of the port wine in the drawing room, was a thoughtful touch. this B & B cannot really be improved upon. We will definitely stay again when coming to Stanton.
Cons: Parking was a bit tight, but manageable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property is beautiful and the B and B is elegant and comfortable inside. The breakfasts were gourmet and very good. Bonnie and Jeff are wonderful hosts and provide many excellent suggestions of things to see and places to eat. It is walking distance from Main Street and right across the street from the birth place of Woodrow Wilson.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: room was exquisite bed very comfortable Bathroom was very clean owners were gracious hosts
Cons: Everything was great
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Large bright bedroom had several sitting options and great bathroom. Location was perfect for walking into downtown. Friendly proprietors served generous breakfast.
Cons: One afternoon guest smoked a cigar on front patio (I'd prefer entirely smoke free property.) We aren't B&B "types" so all the Victorian tchotchkes make the space a bit visually cluttered.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location in a beautiful home. Jeff is a wonderful host. Not only was breakfast delicious, but there were snacks in the evening, a nightcap before we turned in, and tea service in the room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Jeffrey was a gracious host. He made breakfast a treat. The eggs were gourmet and every little touch added to the experience.
Cons: I can't think of a thing that could improve.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Bonnie and Jeff were great hosts. Delightful accommodations. Hope to come back soon.
Cons: Nothing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: it was lovely sharing the breakfast table with a couple who were very interesting to talk to, the breakfast was very leisurely with a lot of thought put into it which was great
Cons: The weather - but that wasn't anyone's fault at the hotel! Definitely a hotel for adults as very calm and quiet - for us this wasn't a bad thing as we had no children with us

Pros: The staff was super friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious and used quality ingredients, and they offered special events to make the stay even more memorable.
Cons: The only reason I marked the room as a 9 was because there was no coffee maker in the room (this is always something my husband looks for and utilizes).

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved the size of the room we stayed in (William Harman III) along with the chairs and ottoman. Beautifully decorated and soothing views made this place one to remember! Innkeepers made us feel right at home. Lovely stay!
Cons: The only negative was that the room warms quickly in the summer when the curtains are not drawn. We kept them closed when we were gone during the day and that helped the second evening. also gave us fans in case we needed them. We didn't. :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: charming, nice people, near town, just off the interstate
Cons: no
6.0 Good
Pros: Friendly helpful staff. Location is beautiful.
Cons: In the barn the walls are too thin----we could hear other people bathing, talking, etc. Bed is only queensize------they'd do better with two twin beds or a king.

Pros: Hotel employee and her staff were fantastic! Warm, informative, accommodating & the perfect hosts!
Cons: Not staying longer!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The lavender shortbread cookies offered with evening turn down service are fabulous! I wish the inn sold them in their gift shop. The front desk staff are young, helpful and very knowledgeable about the property and Staunton. Bathrooms are modern spa quality.
Cons: The only drawback is that you cannot drive to the front door to drop off luggage, etc. due to the design of the property. Guests must climb a double brick stairway to access the front door.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Newly renovated building with an interesting history, we got a room upgrade and enjoyed our stay very much... nice selection of pastries for breakfast, would happily stay here again
Cons: Nothing, it was all good
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and modern inside
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was only an overnight stopover while travelling from New York to South Carolina but it was the perfect ending to our trip. I wish we could've stayed longer. Everything about the Inn is interesting - its history, the décor, amenities and the lovely, professional staff. The dinner menu is unique and everything we ordered was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the verandah for drinks and conversation. We loved it!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was perfect, coffee excellent. I thought the location was easy to find and convenient to the downtown area.
Cons: I really wish it had a pool
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Inn has a fascinating history, the staff is excellent, the rooms are tastefully decorated. My wife and I enjoyed our stay. Found a great restaurant downtown called the Zynodoa, the food was outstanding. We will return.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Loved staying at this quirky boutique hotel that was formerly an insane asylum and then a prison. They did a fabulous renovation that makes it comfortable while retaining the high ceilings and architectural details of the original building. Airy room and halls with a 360-degree view from the tower. Beautiful, spacious bathroom with luxury towels. Close to downtown. Nice library-sitting room on ground floor. Friendly, knowledgeable staff and a GREAT breakfast -- oh, those pastries!
Cons: Would have liked robes and water for the room.
6.8 Good
Pros: The staff was very helpful and solicitous.
Cons: There was not much comfortable about any of the seating either in rooms or public spaces. The grey paint EVERYWHERE is dismal, how about just painting the doors in the hallways the aqua that I saw someplace, just break up the monotony.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel was cool. Repurposed older facility. Sitting on front porch was very nice. Would stay here again.
Cons: Need a fan in bedroom.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is amazing and the beds are super comfortable. The restaurant and bar was delicious.
Cons: Paying an additional fee for parking is annoying. Also, the jets weren't working on the hot tub during my stay, which was sad, but not a deal-breaker.
6.8 Good
Pros: Bed was soft. Nice location.
Cons: Small room. No fridge or microwave. Had to pay for parking. At the price they charge all of that should have been included.
7.5 Good
Pros: Great location
Cons: Kettle in room would be good!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Location
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location to downtown theater and restaurants. Wonderfully spacious lobby where one can relax with a drink. Enjoyed the wooden rockers at the entry.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: My Wife and I enjoy travelling to the Classic Hotels in our area. This was one on our to do list. The downtown historic area was a definite plus, and also the friendliness of the staff, the cleanliness of whole facility, and the ease of parking.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location was convenient to the Shakespeare play we saw, that was directly next door. The staff was nice. The parking was convenient. Pleasant temperature inside on a 110 degree day, and inside the hotel room. Can't complain too much.
Cons: The bathroom was slightly dated (ie. the curtains), and the elevators were slow.
7.5 Good
Pros: Expensive
Cons: Cost and a/c broke
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Happy Hour at Sorrels was nice. Kris the bartender was very personable and attentive to each customer. He offered information about the area and also a little history.
Cons: The kitchen had a malfunction upon our arrival and was only serving cold items. The air conditioning was getting shut down at 6am in the morning for repair. They did offer cold water in the lobby but we were checking out in the morning. I would stay again and hopefully there will be no malfunctions.

9.4 Excellent
Pros: Great free breakfast selection--probably the best I've had at a standard hotel
Cons: Thin walls
8.5 Excellent
Pros: The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was adequate.
Cons: One of the reasons I booked this hotel was because it had a workout room. When I went to workout the night I arrived I noticed that the room would not open until 8 am the next morning. That was very disappointing. I am traveling and would like to be on the road by 8 - 8:30 in the morning. I like to get up early and get my workout in before leaving. That was not possible. They did offer that I could go across the street to a gym they had ties with, but that kind of defeated the purpose of staying at a hotel with a fitness room on site.

Pros: The rooms look modern and clean, the large shower was excellent.
Cons: Could use a better look outside with more landscaping etc. But didn't affect the inside at all.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very nice staff, good breakfast
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Check in lady very nice
Cons: Rude staff at breakfast. Apparently animals are allowed in the breakfast cupboard (it’s not a room) but no shoes are a crime to far. Noisy people from an arrived bus at 1am. Also even the worst score for every category still gets a 2.5 score. Can’t give zero. Even if you try.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was great and Jacque (an employee there who helped out with breakfast) was terrific with our kids.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Clean and quiet
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Clean, nice shower, great location right off 81, breakfast was good with a wide variety of options even for those with dietary limitations!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Will stay here again.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Very quiet room and very clean in a good location. Dog friendly and could stay on 2nd floor with no people walking over our heads. Decent price.
Cons: The room had "dog" odor...probably from a larger dog (our dog is small and does not have a doggie odor). However, reported to desk receptionist and she apologized and made a note of it. She suggested the filter needed cleaning- a maid should have noticed.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Location and what staff that did interact with us were friendly.
Cons: As soon as we got off the elevator to our room the very heavy smell of cat pee hit you. The hallway reeked. I’m allergic to cats so I was in misery the entire night. I have no idea why the hallway stunk like that but I was definitely not the only one who noticed. It was horrible. The stay was definitely not worth the price.
7.5 Good
Pros: Good experience. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Cons: The bathroom was small with the sink outside the facility. The view was a wall of rock.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Best breakfast anywhere.
Cons: Everything was terrific  not one complaint.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Room was clean and comfortable.
Cons: Rooms a little small and could have used a second chair.

Olde Staunton Inn - Staunton
10
9.1 Excellent (13 reviews)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Gracious owner - lovely porch for sitting. Wonderful breakfast. Beautifully decorated - it deserves an article in "Southern Living"!
Cons: Lots of stairs - two small flights just to get to the entrance. Rooms are on the 2nd and 3rd floors - so would be difficult for anyone with walking problems. Otherwise great place in an interesting town.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean. Beautiful house. Friendly staff. Breakfast was Great!
Cons: Parking is up a steep gravel hill. We arrived on a motorcycle and it was a little tricky. No problem for a car.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: This place was quaint and an easy walk from there into town. The owner was very nice and breakfast was lovely. The bathroom was updated and I enjoyed having a robe provided since it was a shared bath.
Cons: The room showed 2 single beds online but was a double bed when checking in. The room was much colder than the rest of the house. The cheap wrapped soaps and plastic-wrapped plastic cups in the bathroom took away from the ambiance of the place.

5.5 Okay
Pros: The muffins were perfect! Breakfast in bed was awesome!
Cons: The staff were rude and abrupt. They gave us a room, then called us to say we weren't on a pretty friendly floor, so we had to pay a fee for their mistake. Even in the morning, the staff was far from friendly.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great Thai breakfast! Cute space and great hospitality.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very unique, and friendly staff
Cons: Very little parking
5.8 Okay
Pros: Breakfasts were Thai, and very varied and really nice. Ubon runs a fine kitchen. It was in a good location for walking to the historic downtown and was in a quiet area. The husband of the proprietor gave us good and interesting suggestions for places to visit.
Cons: Room service was intermittent at best; when the owner was away, the others had such poor English that even ordering a beer was virtually impossible. The place looked uncared-for, and we wondered if they were about to sell up? Basic things like - sash window cords broken so window held open by a hammer handle, initially no plug in the wash basin. None of these things is terribly important in itself, but overall it was much less attractive than the website implied. Not helped by an argument between the owner and his wife when we arrived over how we should pay, which room we should have etc etc. Obviously had forgotten we were coming.
6.3 Good
Pros: Beautiful, historic inn. Owner gracious and accommodating. Addressed problems immediately. Bohemian and humorous experience.
Cons: Garden and grounds were cluttered and unkempt. Owner shouted to family at all hours. Lovely antiques mixed in with modern cast-off tacky lamps and art.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Outstanding hospitality and Thai food. I enjoyed the eclectic appointments in the dining room. The host spun interesting stories about the building, the neighborhood, and Thai cuisine and culture.
Cons: Parking is available but is awkward. However, it is important to remember that this inn is more than a century old, built on a lot in a city well before automobiles roamed the streets or before parking for multiple overnight guests crossed the minds of the people who planned the street.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: UBon the owner was amazing professional friendly and obliging. If I had only one criticism. It would be that she needs to update and decorate the rooms a little bit more. We realize the house is 165 years old however it could be decorated a little bit more friendly for Americans. The atmosphere just wasn’t there.
4.3 Okay
Pros: Breakfast was the only good aspect of our stay, although not what I consider a 'Thai' breakfast, by any means: two slices of toast, one very thick, delicious pancake, and a large serving of scrambled eggs. Served with good coffee & orange juice.
Cons: After difficulty in finding the check-in area, the young lady took us to our room, which was not the room I had originally booked. She did not seem to understand which room I had booked, so we eventually took the room offered to us. Our room had no functioning heat source, the cook had to bring a small portable radiator heater to our room, which took most of the night to get the room up to a comfortable temp (outside temps in the 40F range.) Also, the bed was hard as a rock. Definitely not a good value for $155 per night! My wife and I always enjoy staying in unique and interesting establishments, and this one just fell short. There was no local information available, or even any information about the building itself, which appears to be from the 1860's, something that we usually enjoy seeing in this type of Inn. Also the customer service that we had hoped for from reading the reviews was non-existent. We only encountered two staff members the entire trip, neither of whom seemed to be part of the management. They were friendly, just not very capable of being able to help. All in all it was not a very good experience, and while we look forward to visiting Staunton, VA again, we will definitely not be staying here!
6.3 Good
Pros: Great food
Cons: Though a beautiful building, it is struggling with age. Our room was tiny, a couch was concerning with springs ready to come through fabric, and old, tight bathroom with makeshift shower. No space just to sit and read. Seems run down.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I had never had Thai breakfast before staying at Ubon Thai. It was a tasty way to start the morning. I enjoyed my stay a great deal.
Cons: Check-in was at the resteraunt, which was a little confusing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Ubon was an amazing hostess and her home is wonderfully eclectic and fun! This is not ordinary Bed & Breakfast. I felt as if I was staying in my home home with family who enjoyed each other's company! My room was wonderful with a very comfortable firm bed and nice clean bathroom. Tai cusine expertly cooked and amazingly delicious, hard to believe that this high level chef is located here! Only a 5 minute walk to downtown Staunton with all of the cool shops, eateries and drinkeries. I highly recommend this for your next staycation!
Cons: Nothing I would change.

Pros: Lobby and pool was nice. As would any convention center be
Cons: Cleaner smelling hallway and room. Handicalped accessible in room very poor to maneuver with wheelchair..
1.0 Poor
Pros: The location was good.
Cons: The front desk clerk was too busy chatting in the phone to check me and some others in - we had to wait in her to finish. The bathroom in the room was disgusting with nasty globs of hair in the drain - I had to clean the bathroom before I could use it.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Close to hwy
5.0 Okay
Pros: The pillows were comfy
Cons: The room was a mess, there was trash left in the cans, there was dirt everywhere. The pool had NO towels. The restaurant made me ill.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: clean and right off the highway
5.8 Okay
Pros: Comfortable beds and friendly staff
Cons: First, this was the most expensive price I’ve ever paid at this hotel. This is our stopping point when traveling to and from Florida. The price for for the room with a free breakfast is not worth the money. They didn’t toast my english muffin, it felt warm not hot and was soft. Second, the restaurant tables were dirty/sticky the night we arrived and had dinner and the next morning for breakfast. Our room refrigerator had food in it from past customers. It was gross. We had put parents traveling with us and we talked the place up so much that they were also disappointed.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Great selection of food and availability for breakfast.
Cons: Everything. The hot tub was 83 degrees which is Luke warm. It had brown bubbles and scum around the water line. The pool area needs to be painted and is all chipped. The pool was green and gross. The carpet in our room was stained and had gunky stuff stuck to it.
4.3 Okay
Pros: The bar maid and the supervisor at breakfast
Cons: The blond waitress at dinner who normally does breakfast. She threw my husbands food at him without any apoplogy. Very noisy room by the highway but no double glazing. It actually sounded as if the windows were open. We checked twice to see if they were. Tables in the restaurant were very sticky.
7.5 Good
Pros: Off road setting, lots of walking areas for dog. Staff was helpful with a/c issue.
Cons: Nice read but table tops were all sticky! It is possible to clean wood tables properly so they are not sticky. They should learn how!’
4.0 Okay
Pros: Close to highway
Cons: No bathroom lights, took shower and used bathroom without lights
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Convenient, clean, friendly. The only thing I wish it had was a free breakfast, but there was some complementary coffee!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was great. Right off the interstate.
Cons: The room had some cleanliness issues. The walls were marked up, furniture had dings, and the refrigerator had crumbs.

Pros: Convenient location, friendly staff, clean facilities.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location was just off the interstate. There isn't much else at that exit, so the hotel is easy to find. Check in was smooth. Staff very friendly. Parking lot is very well lit at night. I liked the stand up shower in the room I had. I don't use a tub and it was a pleasant surprise. Room was very clean. Mini fridge and microwave, as well as Directv.
Cons: There was no pool, which didn't bother me on this trip, but it needs to be listed on the description that the pool is closed. The outside of the hotel is dated, but the room was up to date. No breakfast offered, but this is standard for Motel 6. My bed seemed a bit firm for my taste, but that could have been just me.
6.8 Good

2.0 Mediocre
Pros: I have nothing good to say about this hotel
Cons: Horrible! First room was about 95 degrees and ac would not work... next room just as hot but ac cooled down room in about three hours. Floors were not vacuumed and the walk ways on the second floor are falling apart and were filthy! Old, tired and nasty
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: The lady at the desk was very friendly, and the breakfast was decent.
Cons: The room was dirty, like really dirty.. It had a lot of fly's the ones that bite, and my toddler had a reaction to them, there was trash left behind from previous guests old food in the cushions in the chairs, someones left behind anti-fungal cream behind the refrigerator which by the way the refrigerator didn't work..our beds were dirty with other peoples hair on them and so many stains we decided not to sleep under them and didn't bring any of our bags inside because I was worried about what would come home with us. I had requested a non smoking room on my online reservation for starters and I was given a smoking room with two children luckily the desk lady caught that mistake right off and fixed it. Our neighbors were really young doubt they were old enough to rent the room they were next to our window all night smoking cigarettes and talking all I could smell was their cigarettes through the A/C unit.. I disliked my stay so much I cancelled my reservation at another days inn in Tennessee for two days later. I honestly wish I didn't have to pay for my stay at all but the counter woman did give us 15 dollars off which is almost insulting but it is the most she could do and that I understand. Also the whole place needs to be fixed up, its falling apart holes in the wall stained toilets just gross.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Easy access from I-81. Room was clean; staff was very pleasant. The mattress was great. Loved the swimming pool.
Cons: There is competition for the hot water near checkout time.
4.3 Okay
Cons: The rooms carpet was damp. There were holes in the walls. The door showed signs of someone breaking in. The ice machine was broken. No soap vending nor change machine in the laundry. The laundry looked like it was never cleaned up.
5.5 Okay
Pros: Cheaper
Cons: Beds small, housekeeper rude, refrigerator didn’t work.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: A nice view, and much better prices than Charlottesville, Richmond, or anything in-between (unless you want to go camping...).
Cons: The hotel is a bit of a maze, and is currently remodeling (thus no restaurant). For some reason, there were no diet soft drinks in the vending machine.
7.5 Good
Pros: I liked the staff because it are very friendly. They were very accommodating.
Cons: There was no free breakfast, there was not many parking spaces for handicapped. The phone in my room didn't work. If the new owners exspand the lobby area to make a room to offer free breakfast and to make the work out area a little bigger. If they do this, they can charge a little more for the rooms. I think the rooms should be remodeled to make them more appealing. I hope the owners take these suggestions seriously.
4.0 Okay
Pros: Quiet location
Cons: Could use some updating.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: no breakfast great location great value for the money great location for pets also

Pros: Clean comfortable and good location. Very quiet.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I requested a handicap accessible room because my wife is in a wheelchair. The bathroom had a huge walk in shower and sufficient rails for easy transfers. We were both impressed. It was easy to get in because it was on sidewalk level and i was able to park right outside the door. Also there are 2 or 3 restaurants within easy walking distance from the hotel.
Cons: I used my garmin gps to find the hotel. It might be a little difficult to find if you aren't familiar with the area and didn't use a gps.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic hotel at the center of everything. The staff were extremely courteous and very accommodating. The area is quiet and minutes away from gas stations, Walmart and great restaurants.
Cons: I feel the breakfast could be better. It has a large breakfast area but little options. Mostly breads, cereals and the regular apple/banana combo.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The room was clean and the sleeping area was roomy enough to navigate
Cons: We rented a wheelchair accessible room, but I couldn't even get the front half of my chair inside. The only grab bar was in the bathtub as far away from the door as possible. When I complained about the bathroom, the staff was not only not empathetic, they weren't even competent in explaining why.
