Agriturismo San Lorenzo - Montepulciano - Building
1
9.8 Excellent (135 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Agriturismo San Lorenzo in Rapolano Terme, you'll be within a 5-minute drive of Museo dell'Antica Grancia e dell'Olio and San Giovanni Terme Rapolano. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the pool and the excellent location, such gorgeous Italian premises and very friendly hosts- highly recommend San Lorenzo for your Dream Tuscan holiday
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The location is very convenient to the Raccordo Siena-Bertolle, in a rural zone between the Serre di Rapolano and Rapolano Terme town centers: it's one of the few places you can stay that don't require driving 20 minutes through hairpin turns every time you go out. The buildings and grounds are immaculate, and the pool is large and looked very inviting (although we ultimately didn't have a chance to use it). Staff was uniformly helpful and friendly, and with the aid of our phone apps we were able to communicate adequately (seemingly only the owner's daughter speaks English, and she was only there on the week-end). A nice bonus was the shaded parking, very helpful in the summer heat. The robot lawn mower kept us amused.
Cons: Americans may find that the shower volume, as well as the air conditioning capacity, though adequate, are not what they're used to. The last few hundred meters of road leading to the property are intimidatingly narrow.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic time here in the sunshine, with a beautiful pool, great location and totally looked after! Wonderful place to stay.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful location, with a view over the plain from the pool area. A place of peace and quiet. Great breakfast, with fresh cakes every day and good savoury options (not always the case in Italy). Superfriendly and welcoming staff.
Cons: Wifi is too weak. Some dividing walls are paper thin, so that may influence your experience, depending on the volume level of your neighbours.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Gessica and her parents are just lovely people who go out if their way to make sure you enjoy your stay. We were there to relax at the end of a long trip so the peace and quiet was wonderful!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: You feel immediately welcome, very kind and warm owners. Great location, peaceful place and a beautiful view. Everything is super clean and looks like new. Fresh homemade breakfast and very tasty lunch options. Gessica was very kind to indicate a tour around that area, with multiple towns known for their production of cheese or wine. We would love to come back to this place.
Cons: My husband is 1,84m tall and the bed was approx. 1,85m so a bit too short for the legs to get comfortable. You cannot have dinner at the location, but there are a lot of good options close by (driving).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful scenery, well kept property. Beautiful Tuscan stone buildings. All the photos of Agriturismo San Lorenzo is true, but it’s even better when you are here in person. Gessica who is front of house of this family business is so nice. Delicious breakfast too, many foods grown on the property: Olive oil, figs, quince, dried prunes, tomato etc and even made my husband eggs for breakfast!!!!! AAA++++++++++++

Pros: Location was excellent, very close to Montepulciano, with grape vines and olive trees next to our three bedroom and two bathroom flat with outdoor sitting areas and pool. Very clean. Amazing and helpful staff, with a bonus million dollar view of the historic medieval city of Montepulciano that is mesmerizing. Wonderful dinner (though have to book ahead, with excellent menu and rates), a continental Tuscan breakfast is available for an extra 8 Euros per person. A big bonus was a free shuttle up and down the hills to and from montepulciano, great as you can have some wine and not have to worry about driving back. Pros: Beautiful property! the "Tree house" room was fantastic, secluded with a view of the olive groves, perfect for our romantic getaway!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved the room we stayed in - extremely spacious and beautifully decorated. The staff were exceptional - Ahmed and Sayed were personable and very helpful, always willing to help with any requests we had. The breakfast was very good, fresh ingredients and friendly staff managing it all. The view from Cicolina is sensational - we spent most days at the pool which overlooks the rolling hills of Montepulciano which was one of the best parts of our holiday. The dinner setting outside is very romantic - definitely worth trying but most nights we went into town which is a very short ride from Cicolina - there are so many great restaurants to try. We used the shuttle service a number of times which was really great. Sayed also booked a wine tour for us which was really enjoyable. We can't say enough about this place - it was the best value by a long shot and the staff are just awesome. Definitely go check it out!
Cons: No complaints!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Dinner is excellent - and a great value!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous grounds, the pool was the highlight and the lovely little restaurant for breakfast. We were in the cottage and it was very basic. The bed wasn’t very comfortable and the furnishings awkward and dirty. The cleaning lady did a wonderful job considering the circumstances. It’s a great value for the money and a one of a kind experience but don’t expect a lot of frills.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Location is wonderful-a 25 minute walk into Montepulciano, but perfectly peaceful, with amazing views. Breakfast is fantastic and staff are so helpful. Dinner is great value and the gardens are simply breathtaking.
Cons: Soundproofing is a little lacking-this is a very quiet hotel, but in the bedrooms, you can hear noises from other rooms. The air conditioning is very loud as well.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: the authentic building, the furnishing, the extras hidden underneath
Cons: to lay at the pool and relax
10.0 Excellent
Pros: After a long day of travel and a late check-in to the last room, we were just hoping for a hot shower and comfortable bed. What a delight to find we were shown to a literal Treehouse in the olive grove of Villa Cicolina, a quintessential luxury italianate property complete with trompe l’oiel, secret gardens and an infinity pool with views across the Tuscan countryside. The newly completed Treehouse is a contemporary design of wood, concrete, steel and glass that cantilevers out over the sloping olive grove with private views in 3 directions. The interior space was exceptional with a more than comfortable King size bed, fireplace, rainshower, deep bath with its own full length window and a deck with a view forever. We were enchanted. The perfect contemporary ‘couples getaway’ with added advantage of a full Tuscan Villa experience complete with delicious homemade breakfast of tortes, jams, breads and pastries, fruits, and one of the best Cappuccino forte’s I have had in Italy. Book this now because it is exceptional! 11/10!

Pros: Frederico and his staff were very welcoming and easy to work with. The property is in a perfect location. The room was very clean and had lots of Tuscan character, but was also very up-to-date. Nice bathroom and living area. Although it is located on a main street, it was generally quiet at night. We will definitely return to this property next time we visit!

Pros: Breakfast location was excellent
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We opted for a junior suite which was very moderately priced and were so thrilled with our suite. It was comfortable, tastefully decorated and immaculate. The host, Federico pays attention to every detail. It was a fabulous way to end our journey through the Tuscany region. Loved staying in an authentic hilltop town.
Cons: We loved it all. We would caution others about the difficulty of parking and carrying your luggage up a very steep hill and steps. So, we suggest you make it a base for three or four days to explore the entire region. We are so very happy that we did. Montepulciano is so lovely with great restaurants, shops, and wonderful lodging!

Pros: Everything was perfect!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The food was amazing. Federico the chef (one of the proprietors) was trained by Gordon Ramsay’s team and it really shows! The pastries and scrambled eggs were delicious and something we looked forward to every morning along with the beautiful outdoor setting on the terrace overlooking the manicured gardens and vineyards. We stayed in the cottage and it was pure Tuscan heaven! The pool only a hop away and accessed through a gate just off the cottage terrace. Marianna and her team are so helpful and particularly so when our son had to be rushed to hospital with appendicitis. Her husband accompanied us to Montepulciano hospital (5 mins drive away) and stayed with us for nearly 2 hours so he could translate for us. During our stay they had 2 special meals organised, a truffle, moonlight meal by the pool and a stargazing meal where we sat at large round tables with all the other guests and helped ourselves to a magnificent buffet and fine wines rather a kin to a wedding!! After the meal a professional astronomer gave a talk about the stars and planets and we all had the opportunity to look through the telescopes. Very enjoyable evenings. We hired a car (a must) and drove all around the Val D’Orcia which takes in Pienza, Montalcino, etc. Incredibly beautiful countryside. On the evenings we didn’t eat at La Rocca we drove to nearby Montepulciano which has a vast array of restaurants and really it’s hard to pick a bad one! You must also visit the thermal springs. We drove to San Filippo and Saturnia (the latter being better but a good 2 hr drive away!) both great experiences. The whole stay was wonderful and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful, well run, ideally located Agriturismo . Many thanks Mariana and all your staff
Cons: Absolutely nothing!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Tuscan-style houses with cosy rooms, beautiful well-maintained garden with lawns, flowers and fruit trees surrounded by the vineyards you can have a walk in. Large and clean swimming pool highly appreciated by our kids) A good breakfast with a view over Tuscan hills. Had a dinner there too and it was amazing (and not so much expensive). The staff was very helpful, especially Marianna, who gave us a number of very useful advices where to go in the area.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous place in every way
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice location, well maintained. Large rooms and beautiful surroundings. Ideal place to get some rest, enjoy the Italian food, climate and culture of the cities in the area. The rooms we had were very spacious and both badrooms had a jacuzzi, a nice extra. We only stayed one evening for dinner but the food is also very good. If you wish to join, they also do a sort of vineyard bbq but we did not take part in this. People are very friendly and helpful!
Cons: Although the breakfast is fine, being a bread eater I would have enjoyed a larger bread choice during breakfast. For example darker bread was lacking. They have some fruits available during breakfast but also adding a fruit salad would be nice to add to the yogurt.
7.5 Good
Pros: Location was awesome and they had a lot of fruits and veggies that grew on property. They had a small playground for kids which was helpful . The dinner served was nice and staff Marianna was very helpful and kind . All her local recommendations were awesome . Their house wine was awesome too .
Cons: Since it’s a farm there were lots of mosquitoes there and everyday me and my daughter got bites . Nothing to do with property but wherever there is farm it’s expected but as a result we couldn’t sleep well . Marianna was kind enough to order cake to celebrate my husband and daughter birthday but coming from usa I was hoping it would be a small complimentary dessert from the property chef . Whereas I was charged 25 euros for a big cake which came as a surprise during checkout .I would have liked to get that communication clarified in advance.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It's an absolutly great place to spend family holidays. Very friendly staff, very good breakfast, nice dinners, good wine. There is a nice swimming pool to relax. And there is a really a lot to visit around in Toscany and Umbria. We booked first 5 days but it was so good that decided to stay 9 days. Sincerly recommended.
Cons: Playground for kids was basic but it wasn't a big issue as swimming pool compensated

Hotel is very clean with rooms that look and feel brand new. Rooms are very clean and tidy. We stayed in Room 120 with balcony. Great selections on breakfast with freshly baked bread and pastries by Niccolo's brother . Niccolo in the reception is fantastic, hospitable, full of positive energy and made our stay very special! Pros: Authentic, cozy, clean place with thoughtful interior details, right in the heart of the town, walking distance to shops and restaurants, but no noise from the center
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The location for visiting Montepulciano town was perfect, right in the town. Free parking at P7 very close by. The apartment is small but very well fitted out, especially the modern bathroom. Note if you’re visiting Montepulciano you need to be fit - there’s plenty of steep inclines to walk! Within walking distance of many great places to taste the local wine.
Cons: There is no air conditioning. Also, it’s very well equipped but the apartment we had is like in a cave with not a lot of natural light. Also shame there’s no view - however wouldn’t stop us from choosing this place again! Would also have appreciated enough coffee capsules for the stay duration.
7.9 Good

This agritourismo is less then 10 minutes from the lovely Montepulciano hill town, and has easy access to the Val d’Orcia for incredible day trips to the many small towns in this area. Montalcino, Penza, Bagnio Vignoni, Monticcheillo were some of the ones we visited. There is a well-stocked supermarket (Conrad) about a 5 minute drive away. Check in - we were treated with cappuccinos and a delicious homemade lemon pie upon arrival. The main reception and terrace had an incredible view of Montepulciano. We stayed in the building located about 200 metres from reception, their pool, hot-tub and gym. Our two story accommodation was perfect, peaceful. There was free parking. Julia was very helpful with suggestions for restaurants and sightseeing recommendations. Coming back to the fabulous pool area after a day of sightseeing to relax and watch the sunset was a highlight for us.

Pros: This place is amazing!! I wished we had stayed more and enjoy all that is offer here and the surrounded towns. The apartments at La Corte are beautiful really charming and traditional Italian style. The staff was amazing , really helpful and nice. The pool and the view, the 24hr jacuzzi with the sky full of stars, the nice coffee in the morning to see the sunrise are unavailable memories that we will take with us forever. Giulia's family also harvest their own wine and grappa! It is a perfect place for families, couples and people that want to disconnect and enjoy Tuscany. Only 9min outside of Montepulciano and easy to get around to Sienna, Chianti, etc.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was fantastic, right in the main shopping street. The staff, Enrico & Roberto could not have been more helpful; carrying our bags to the car, recommending and reserving a restaurant, and advising about the area. The room was unbelievable, with the original painted ceiling being the highlight. The modern ensuite was in complete contrast to the room but worked so well. The shower was huge! We enjoyed a comprehensive breakfast in the beautiful reception area.

Pros: Wow - have never stayed in anything so unique. A genuine Palazzo. Great welcome by staff and information about the area with excellent food recommendations too. Was mesmerised by fresco on roof of our room. Bathrooms are modern. This hotel provides a memorable stay and wonderful experience. Every room is different but all are special.
Cons: Like hotels in any hilltop Italian town - not easy to reach but staff couldn't be more helpful to assist - directing us right to the door and alerting local police to our short term unloading of bags out the front before we moved our car to the nearby hotel parking space.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location montepuliciano is a hill town. Be aware that this hotel is at the bottom of a very long climb up to Palazzo grande but there are several wonderful restaurants on the street Hotel is very clean our triple room was actually a suite of two rooms. Very spacious Staff is great. Breakfast outstanding
7.9 Good
Pros: Very good staff, helpful and welcoming. Everything spotless, very clean. Triple room quite spacious. Comfortable beds and pillows. Bathroom clean and bright. Enough towels and toiletries. The overall style of the hotel old Tuscan, though common spaces are nicer than the actual rooms. Nice breakfast: several cheeses and cold cuts, omelette if you want it. Unusually for Italy, very modest choice of pastry and fruit. The hotel is very well situated in the historic part of Montepulciano.
Cons: Bathroom very small! Shower small to the point of being seriously claustrophobic. One very high step from the bathroom to the room, quite dangerous. If you forget about it and step down, the result could be very unpleasant. Parking is rather far from the hotel, unless you are lucky and there still are free places near the hotel (which are few).
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Good location , friendly staff
Cons: No air con, can’t sleep with open windows due to street noise ((
9.6 Excellent
Pros: A true Italian experience and we really appreciated the top floor room with view... even though it was cloudy during our stay. A lovely welcome, comfy beds and great location for exploring Montepulciano. We especially enjoyed the home baked apple pastry with breakfast.

Pros: Free parking, room with balcony, old city is just a short walk away (about 10 min). Nice hotel for one night.
Cons: Outdated furniture
5.4 Okay
Pros: The location was great
Cons: Nice hotel but horrible staff at the reception. The woman staff tried to charge us for breakfasts that we did NOT eat. The first day when we check-in, there was a nice man at the reception who was helpful. He told us that the breakfast was 3 Euros and we can have a look first and if we like we could eat and pay, if we don't like we don't have it. Therefore, we went to check it the first morning as he suggested. But we didn't prefer to eat breakfast as it was not what we wanted. However, when we check out, the woman at the reception insisted that she saw us at the breakfast and we should pay 12 Euros (2 persons, 2 mornings). She was so rude and accused us even though we said we only looked the first morning as the male staff told us. Anyways she kept lying and accusing us. We felt very offended but managed to resolve it without paying. That behaviour was unacceptable. We had nice feelings about the hotel in the beginning, that was a shame we had to leave like that!!!
6.3 Good
Pros: The location is great
Cons: There is no parking, u have to wait until a place will be free, the woman in the reception was unpleasant, grumpy and didnt try to help
8.5 Excellent
Pros: Good location - not right in the center of things, but an easy walk. Staff was exceptionally helpful. Good parking, clean rooms. Good breakfast (see cons, though).
Cons: It's nice to have a mini-fridge in the room, esp. for longer stays. They should really just build the price of breakfast into the room rate so you don't have to mess with paying separately.
