Excellent location - best beach on the island. The staff were very good and attentive. The In Sea restaurant had rather limited menu but food was consistent and decent. We had the Castaway rooms which were very comfortable and charming. The spa was very basic but Thai massages were excellent.
After having read all the very negative comments on that hotel I really was worrying going there. Prepared to anything, we finally were extremely estonished on how beautiful the hotel and the rooms were (much more beautiful than on the internet-site!). Especially the location (direct access to the beach, near to the pier and a short walk to sairee beach) and the huge and extremely clean pool were great for us.
Good pick up from pier. My room was big and well furnished. good a/c, good bathroom, good accessories (towels, bathroom) but these features are ridiculous when compared to the negative ones i didn't like reception staff (not friendly, not gentle), room location, dirty kitchen (maybe it caused my illness), mosquitos everywhere, reception suggestions (too expensive link on beaches), price too high, dirty bathroom (hairs everywhere), wi-fi slow and difficoult to access, no wi-fi in rooms, useless free wi-fi (if you try you will go to the hospital because of moquitos)... and so on
The staff was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Although it is one of the more expensive hotels on the island, it is still very affordable and the accomodations are excellent.
Location/views were wonderful, albeit remote. Friendly staff. Meals were fairly priced (which is good as unless you have transport, you are a captive audience) No shuttle into town (apart from day of departure). Hire charge for snorkelling equipment and a credit card surcharge on payment of accommodation seemed out of place. Construction workmanship somewhat average. More variety for breakfast (we stayed 10 days). No wifi from room – only in (open) reception area. Timber lounges without padding were uncomfortable.
It was the best place to be at kotao No
The hotel staff was very polite, competent and had a good command of English. WLAN, cool place to be, great! nothing special, only the lighting in the evening could be a little bit better as there were several stairs to take, especially when being night-blind it is helpful to have a torch at hand.
sea view is nice. far from the harbor.far from any beach.A lot of mosquitos.
An absolute gem of a place with a great team working that bend over backwards to make your stay perfect. The spa is great and although it's more expensive than the others in town the services and beautiful views far outweigh the cost. There was some work being completed whilst we were there and the hammering would start at 8am. No biggy but would of been nice to start later.
the hotel is situated along the mountain, very picturesque sunset view from the balcony. real wild tropical sounds in the evening outside. quite romantic lodge, very good and varied breakfasts. it is necessary to underline that it is very difficult to move throughout the hotel as it is situated along the mountain and the way from-to everywhere consists of real steps (what isa difficult way even for young people). so, absolutely not recommended for muture people and couples with infants. another thing what was not pointed out in any of the comments - it's not a beach hotel!!! there is no beach at all! we have climbed down to the sea - a very dirty small piece of sand + stones - that is all!!! alternative - just a very small swimming pool with a few beachbeds just under the sun, without any sun shelter! the hotel is situated about 20-30 minutes walking along countryside, dusty road from main street, so a question to get anywhere.
The location and sights of the restaurant and the people serving there (really nice). We checked other hotels but neither was best then this one. Depending on the location of the villa, privacy could be lacking (there are curtains but people outside can see you inside). It was a bit expensive but hey, its ko tao.
Beautiful surroundings, nice bungalow, staff is nice.
