It was the best resort we have been on Fiji. We liked the quiet and very familial atmosphere.
The staff The food The entire trip
The staff were so friendly and kind. They always were careful with my dietary needs. They also really looked after their guests during the tail of a cyclone.
During the cyclone we could not do our regular activity (sunbathing). They had board games etc but I wish they had other indoor activities. Perhaps a room with games in for this semi regular occurrence.
Nanuya Resort is well located in Blue Lagoon but unfortunately, access to the beach is quite limited. This is unfortunate in most times but beneficial during a storm - as was recently experienced in Fiji. Overall, the accommodation was fair and the views enjoyable and thanks to the great Staff.
Unfortunately, a part for the aesthetics, Nanuya fails to impress. Whilst the staff was lovely (and thank goodness for them); the resort was not very accommodating. Indeed, it felt more like a money-grabbing ploy; examples include: overcharging for every single item - pain killers at $5, a banana milkshake asked instead of a full meal at $15, instant coffee at $7 or more shockingly, overcharging for CC usage - 3.5% instead of the Fiji mandated 3% - a preposterous undertaking to gain money at the expense of guests. Overall, I will comment that were it not for the incredible location, the gentile staff (which is sadly very poorly treated); Nanuya Resort should not have the word resort included in its name. I am all for a business being profitable but it saddens me to see that hospitality is not a common practice at this establishment, especially as Fiji is reputed to be a very welcoming country. I highly do NOT recommend staying here and hope the owners will take notice of this. I conclude by staying that I’ve traveled in many high and low end places and usually do not want to berate establishments but I was quite positively shocked that I believe it warrants an honest review. Beware, do not go to Nanuya.
With a stay at Nanuya Island Resort in Nanuya Lailai Island, you'll be on the beach and close to Devil's Beach. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, luggage storage, and laundry facilities.
