Our host was gracious, kind and genuinely wanted our stay to be as comfortable as possible. The breakfast spread was not only delicious but beautiful. Don't miss the experience of a Japanese breakfast made with care.
We liked everything. If you want a home feeling with the privacy and autonomy of a hotel, this is your place.
Unbeatable location! Wonderful building! Great breakfasts!
Keep in mind you must walk up about 10 steps of stairs when you stay in the charming upstairs apartment. Totally worth the exercise.
The bathroom was old, rusty, dirty and completely untidy. This can't be considered a hotel and neither a ryokan. The breakfast was decent, but it was being handled by the host who appeared sick the entire time we were there. It didn't seem like any hygienic conditions were being met. The price for the night was extremely high, it was our most expensive night in all of Japan. Even taking into account it was Golden Week in Japan, the price charged was an abuse.
The breakfast was excellent. Traditional Japanese served by the proprietor and helper in kimonos. The stay was worth it for the excellent service. The location was great for the town centre, eating places and the park with its deer, temples and beautiful traditional gardens. All within half an hour's walk.
It was difficult to find the place. The tourist information people didn't really know where it was. We tried finding our own way with a map but a taxi would have been better even though actually it was only about 12 minutes walk from Nara station.
The breakfast, the hospitality, all the extras that the host gave us. Well stocked of toilettries, extremely clean, good shower
