The owner and his assistant were so congenial and even gave us a ride into Negreira in evening so that we could sightsee. Such a warm cosy, homey place to stay. Rustic living in this stone building built in the 1700's. They do serve dinner and also a help-yourself breakfast which is laid out the night before. It was a truly enjoyable experience to chat in the dining room with the owner and other guests over a glass of wine. Would go back and recommend this place to anyone who appreciates history, antiques and warmth of the young male owner who explained that this is the home belonging to his family's generations. The only slight set-back was as we were hiking from Santiago de Compostela, we were anxious to settle down and the sign from our trail indicated that Albergue Turistico de Logrosa was 700 metres from road. The undulalations of the road seemed to be much farther but that may have been because we were exhausted.
Good service, modern decor and good value for money. Also a nice swimming pool and leisure area. Not really! The Room Service Menu seemed very steeply priced!
Fabulous hotel in great location. Pool and leisure facilities were excellent
Great rooms, location, personel, service was great no
young lady at front desk very helpful, also lady at dinner ;breakfast good but lacked hot food pool(s) were cold, esp indoor; pillow on bed far too high..had to resort to using blanket as pillow; instructions for operating aircondition not clear
Lovely bathroom really comfortable beds and smashing breakfast.
Very comfortable rooms, excellent bathrooms good position
Room was spacious and very quiet. The bed was large and extremely comfortable, and the bathroom excellent with bath, shower & bidet. 1. Breakfast was rather expensive at 14.50 2. Staff seemed thin on the ground: those on reception seemed to be rushed off their feet, and we never saw anyone behind the bar, so we never bought a drink! 3. Wasn't very happy with them putting my dob on their own hotel database without asking me. (I requested it be deleted.)
The set price menu in the restuarant was both excellent value and quality
Beautiful and comfortable
NH is upscale, contemporary and well-deserving of it's 5-star rating. The staff is very friendly, the amenities are excellent and best of all, it's a 10-minute walk from the center of the town. I would recommend the hotel for couples and families, the hotel is appealing to both. We had a great stay and would consider the hotel chain again.
The hostal itself is beautiful, a place to visit. It is perfectly located in the middle of Santiago. The food is very good and the staff very kind.
location not 5 star service
friendly service room too hot, no tea making facilities in room
location, location, location
Location, premises, atmosphere & staff Nothing
excelent location room was far away from the entrance of the hotel
Proximty to St James Cathederal and center of tourist district. Did not have the luxuries and conveniences you would expect of a 5 star hotel. Was much more comparable to a 3.5 star hotel.
First class ineverything. Beautiful location. Excellent breakfast. Nice staff. A superb hotel .
The location and the room Street noise
The location was fantastic right in the heart of the historical centre. As this hotel claims to be a 5 Star GL you do not expect to be told you have to ask for a bathrobe or complimentary slippers. Also there were no coffee/tea making facilities in the room which you would expect in this type of hotel.
Pool was out of order therefore a rip off
location perfect for us expensive breakfast we went to a local cafe instead
The swimming pool Should have had a room with balcony, this was not the case. Not a proper / comfortable bar area or residents lounge
clean and 15 min walking distance to centre By no stretch of the imagination a 4 star hotel. we also stayed at the sercotel Los Abetos outside the town and there is no comparasion in the two hotels, though both graded as 4 star. It is a good 2 star by UK standards.
Internet service was not at a level that is acceptable - very slow in browsing
Big room Old TV
It was friendly, large rooms, modern bathroom, clean and warm.
A lovely, spacious room and excellent buffet breakfast. The pool was not yet open for the year though it was being prepared. The walk into the historic centre, although not very far, was rather dull though it was possible to vary it slightly by going through the park.
cleanliness was excellant, ideal location for town center, only 15 minutes walk be prepared for a wait trying to get a drink from the bar, never any staff
Central location, courteous and helpful staff, spotlessly clean, excellent service
The service was excellent, perfect location and the personnel was courteous and helpful. I am used to shower curtains but they are not common in Europe.
The room's temperature was very low when we arrived. The internet is too much expensive
The staff were excellent of the first order, I stay in hotels all over the world and have never meet as any as freindly. pool, sauna and gym seemed closed all the time.
I liked the rooms and food. The staff at breakfast were very nice. limited use of the internet. We had been travelling for several days and needed to use the internet. I was surprised that usage was limited in such a nice hotel.
comfortable, elegant, clean. Great breakfast. great location.... out of the main tourist section but within walking dsitnce of the main sights. Great area for shopping . Staff friendly and helpful
Very helpful and friendly staff. None.
location /parking in hotel garage/size of room
I thought that the hotel was lovely. We wouldnt have changed anything.
A modern hotel that doesn't treat guests as numbers! Quite a way outside Santiago and no easy way to get to the city without using your own transport. This is not a good thing given that parking is so restrictive and restricted.
I stayed there only for one night in a family room (that is a 2 double intercommunicated rooms) and i must say that it was pretty nice. All clean and very spacious. The hotel was pretty nice, very modern and the breakfast was okay ! Don't have any complaints about the staff. The worst thing in it was the far distance from the centre. If you don't have a car you'll be very limited, unless you're there for a congress or a football game.
good facilities Not in walking distance of the city
It's an excelent hotel. TV, big rooms, easy to park the car, good price. I did not eat the breakfast, so, it's was perfect. You need a car to be in this hotel.
Near airport, good breakfast, good parking Thin walls - had to put up with snoring from adjacent room all night
The spacious rooms, the hotel staff very friendly. The breakfast buffet has variety of fruits, yogurths, cereals, ham, cheese and pastry. Good deal for the price. Parking in the hotel is free. I like the family rooms that were two connected rooms.
Eficiency of hotel, good staff and technical confort internet inside room must be free of charge and fast
It was nice hotel with bright and confortable rooms. The staff was attentive and very friendly. The breakfast was not a big deal, but it not make a difference to us because we liked the rest of what the hotel had to offer. We are not a big breakfast eaters. A simple cup of coffee with a toast would have done the job.
Recepionist very helpfull and very informative
Location, location, location . . . A hotel of this quality should have more than one computer for patrons' usage.
Excellent position, convenient for the lanes leading to the cathedral and the shopping areas. Nice large comfortable room. Excellent dining room with large choice buffet breakfast. Reception staff helpful, especially karen. We were also offered a room at the back of the hotel. It was much smaller and with no view at all. The hotel bar was very poor and unwelcoming. There are several steps from reception to the one lift, but no 'ramp', so suitcases had to be lifted. Hotel staff will help you... If they are available.
Nice modern hotel, very friendly staff, walking distance to everywhere in the old town - will be back to stay again. Car parking available in public car park across the road at additional overnight charge
modern clean hotel
location/convenience, staff attention to our needs for info on (a) the city (b) transport (c) meals.
Nice hotel, excellent location in the city center. We did not have breakfast included but, there is a cafe across the street which is very convenient. . Staff was very friendly and always ready to help. We arrived after midnight, starving and tired and found out that hotel doesn't have restaurant or room service, anyway, staff gave us directions to go to a place to eat which is open until 2.30 am, 2 blocks from the hotel
modern, clean, nice design, good location no private parking, however public parking nearby
The hotel is very modern inside, very tastefully decorated and appointed. We chose it because it was very close to where our daughter lives. Staff couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. Room and bed were a good size and very comfortable.
The location was wonderful. The architecture is very interesting and the rooms comfortable. The atmosphere is a bit cold and the wifi access was dreadful.
Excellent location, very comfortable hotel with friendly staff who all spoke English, would stay there again and would be happy ro recommend to others
The hotel staff were very friendly and efficient, the architecture in and around the hotel was stunning The bar was in the cafeteria and could have been a little more comfortable, but the staff were excellent. Also breakfast was a little overpriced and although it was clearly stated not included in the price, in our view the lack of breakfast made the hotel slightly overpriced.
The hotel was beautiful, clean and comfortable, and in a perfect position for visiting the old town There were no tourist information brochures/information and a separate bar area would be more advantageous
The decoration, the rooms, the silence... The Cafe and the Restaurant were in very 'dark' places...
staff were friendly and helpful beds were very hard
very close to town . friendly staff . breakfast good . no
Very friendly staff. The laundry service was slow and very expensive.
The historical building is very beautiful, but rooms inside are made with modern innovations. Everything was very well done. Water in the swimming pool was a little bit cold. Internet in the room is not automatical.
The hotel and staff were excellent - well done Nothing - it was excellent
Excellent position. Bar area has no atmosphere. Car park not at all apparent & not signposted.
breakfast looking out at garden lack of bar food
The hotel was very comfortable and the breakfast was very good. I would go back again. I was in the front part and it was a very noisy bedroom to be in. I did stay an extra night with you and was moved to a much more suitable room.I did not feel I was on a race track.
Very pleasant room in the old part of the hotel overlooking the garden. Location is right on the edge of the old town. Stopping outside to drop off bags at a busy time (6pm).
value for the money shame about the weather
all the staff in good humour. I loved my room wake up in the morning and my door leads straight out to the fresh air. The man in the bar really frindly and helpful.
Very nice hotel in all respects. Nothing
Parking next ddor, central position (no driving], value for money, facilities No outloook, despite the ads!
Charming hotel with delightful character. Excellent facilities and convenient location
I loved the garden and the birds, it was very peaceful and relaxing. No
Behind the stone facade at the front there was a beautiful hotel with a peaceful garden, and shaded rooms which were furnished with lovely old wooden features. The rooms had plenty of space and were tastefully decorated and were a treat to return to at the end of a day siteseeing.
The facility was lovely and the staff was very polite and helpful. We especially enjoyed the food in the downstairs lounge and restaurant.
The hotel lacked athmosphere,--But the Receptionest was very Helpfull and plesent. The hotel did not seem to be a 5 star . The Hotel is situated down the hill from the town. I think I would prefer one closed to the town center.
area positiom poor
The room was very comfortable, both it and the bathrooms were very clean with good selection of soaps etc. Cleaning staff friendly too. The pool is lovely but very small, the steam room (turkish bath) didn't work very well and it would be nice to have a better selection of english speaking tv channels
The Palacio offerred 5 star accomodations at 3 or 4 star prices. The room was quiet, large, beautifully decorated.
I like the facilities , the views. Very clean and modern rooms. Excellent treatment at front desk and employees
Friendly staff, able to book in and check out early due to flight arrival and departure times. Restaurant food excelent. Expected the room size to be bigger possibly due to the photo shots shown on the web. Room size was ok though.
in a very quite area of the city and the mini bar though limited free in common with most spanish hotels there was no tea/coffee facilities in rooms
The hotel was stylish and well-equipped in a nice location, within a 7/8 minute walk of all the sights of Santiago de Compostela The breakfast was expensive for the buffet display on offer - and our waitress was rather casual, lacking customer service awareness.
The hotel was well situated and peaceful. It was modern and comfortable. It was a shock on departure on Saturday morning to discover that breakfast did not begin until 8am. This is OK perhaps on a Sunday but not what one would expect from this standard of hotel on a Saturday
as there was a bar advertised but no bar opened most of the time
Free bus to city & return - on demand. Free Wi Fi. Spacious room, lovely bathroom with large bath. 42" Plasma TV. Exceptional value
Air conditioning seemed to deliver only a fan of recycled air. There was no real way of reducing temperature, despite apparent controls for this. Temperature remained same. First week of June this was not too serious - dread to think of July and August though. Pool as above
We were upgraded to a suite and must say that this was outstanding the rooms were spacious and clean the staff were helpful would recommend - the only drawback was the hotel was outside the city centre -about 1/2 hour walk away but the free mini bus shuttle compensated for this - There was nothing near the hotel at all so you had to go in to town to eat /drink etc
We were shocked by the quality of the hotel, as compared to others we stayed at in Spain, for the same prices as much inferior hotels we stayed at elsewhere.
the room and the bed size Not much choice at the cafeteria for a light dinner
Design and layout of the hotel. A Junior suite was what we were offered and this turned out to be luxurious. Loung with refrigerator and wide screen TV. Own terrace. Good bathroom and large bedroom with yet another wide screen TV. Covered parking and wifi. Large parties visiting Santiago making lots of noise when leaving on their coaches early morning (6.am.)
Helpful, friendly staff. The free bus to town was excellent. Nice location and lovely big rooms! The beds were hard! (but this is a matter of personal taste)
Quite difficult to find. Map downloaded was not accurate
We stayed in Los Abetos for two nights, in room 1008. It was quiet and pleasant hotel with helpful staff. They offered us a free car service to and from the center of Santiago de Compostela. Highly recommendable.
Excellent value for money, very comfortable, large double room. More a business oriented hotel than a family one.
Visiting the Cathegral and generally wandering around the old town which is compact and very interesting. Enjoying the excellent food, wine and the friendleness of the Spanish
Excellent service in a luxurious setting with spacious and comfortable rooms for a great price. Would stay again.
Well situated hotel with helpful English-speaking staff. Modern nice building with pleasant and comfortable rooms. Near to city centre and next door to a big Hipercor-Corte Ingles department store. No tv-channels in English.
Excellent breakfast, nice contemporary art work around the hotel, mostly pleasant helpful staff, good car parking. Long walk to the Old Town, easy to get lost, better to take a taxi, no English language help in the dining room.
We stayed at the hotel during my son's wedding with a large group of family and the staff were really helpful even with providing us with a room on the wedding day so we celebrate before leaving.
The hotel was central .
It is a good city hotel; close to the old town on a bus route and a free underground parking, everything was correct. The sound proofing of the rooms was insufficient.
Freeparking No soundproof, noise. Cafe was very expensive for a piece of toast, juice and coffee.
comfortable room, good bathroom, 15 minute walk (up hill) to Cathedral and old town, free parking on site Wifi was painfully slow and ground to a halt once everyone else in hotel starting using it, meals from restaurant at dinner had a distinct whiff of out of the freezer and in to the microwave
room service,space of room.
The receptionist was very helpful with maps etc. Pleased that an internet terminal was provided free of charge. Location - a good 20 minute walk from the town centre
Excellent! Great hotel!
I was meeting a very good friend that I hadn't seen in six weeks. We stayed in for three days straight and ordered room service. The staff offered complete privacy which was wonderful. My friend and I will always remember this time we had together to talk, talk, talk. Yes, unfortunately, the trays from our room service were not picked up promptly. It was a bit embarassing to see them accumulating outside our room especially when we took the time to inform the staff that they were ready to be picked up. We felt a bit ignored.
'English Breakfast' cold and not replenished quickly,
really close to the city centre, 15 minutes walk. Nice bed, good bathroom.
The hotel was fabulous and the rates we got with yourselves were excellent, 75 euros per night for the room for bed and breakfast, unbelievable!
New and clean. No restaurant
Very nice hotel, but seriously overpriced. Outdated 1980's decor and style.
I loved the ease of staying at the Gran Hotel Santiago, the room was quickly and efficiently cleaned and everything was tidied nicely. My son (6 years) said we have to stay there again for their toasted ham and cheese sandwiches! I'm allergic to fish and when we didn't understand some of the items on the dinner menu, they carefully wrote a translation so that I was reassured about what I could and could not eat. The hotel is really well placed for going into the main town of Santiago, we actually walked all the way because the bus didn't turn up. It is also close enough to take a taxi back from the town centre, without it costing the earth! I thought the cooked food for breakfast was not good, the quality of the sausages and eggs were terrible. However, they also had pastries, toast, cheese etc so there was plenty else to choose from. In the room, the TV does not swivel so you can only view it from one bed. Minor problems compared with the rest of the place.
good ratio quality/money
the decoration. the cleanliness of the bathroom. We changed room once and the new one wasn't better.
The air conditioning was very efficient. The wifi signal was strong. The hotel room was very clean. I felt that the soundproofing was poor - personally I experienced a lot of noise during the daytime and evening from someone in a neighbouring room playing a music instrument. In my opinion, my internal room (and I was told that all single rooms are internal) was stuffy and poorly lit.
The hotel was centrality located, staff was friendly, room clean and pretty big, great shower, and breakfast was very good value for money. Nothing
Good, stylish comfortable hotel. Convenient for centre of City. Good value.
The breakfast was excellent and the price very reasonable. Not all the staff spoke english.
the location was right for us as it was cental for your needs, the staff are pleasent and gave use all the information we needed to make our stay a happy and comfortable please give our thanks to all the staff their
A good location near tourist attractions in the city center. We had a 2-room suite which was large but with a bit of an ackward floorplan. A dismal, drab breakfast. Better to eat out. Poor beds. We had to have one changed (which was done quickly and cheerfully by the staff) because it was worn and uncomfortable.
Excellent location in the middle of the shopping commercial area of the centre, and close to the main attraction the Cathedral.Thank you
We were able to check in early, which was very nice after walking the Camino! The room had a balcony, a nice TV, comfortable beds, clean linen and private bathroom - everything someone should want in a hotel room. Very Happy.
it was cheap, it had internet, and it was somewhat close to stuff it was pretty charmless and on a loud street
it was very central for shopping and all sightseeing.surounded by great places to eat out and taxi station at the end of the street. i could hear the people in the room next door which i didn't obviously enjoy, especially when they went to the toilet,as it was adjecent to my bedroom.strange i thought.
I travel about 100 days per year, but seldom find a hotel that has such a good price/quality. Nice people, fantastic rooms, nice restaurant and superb breakdfast. Everything is clean, the bed is of a quality as you wish to have it at home, etc. Nothing but positive feedback!
The architecture of the hotel, very good restaurant, good quality price, friendly staff
The restaurant was excellent. The menu and cuisine were superior. They also provided free access to the mini-bar. The staff was very helpful. Overall, we were very pleased with the hotel. The English language TV station that was not working. They also did not have any tourist information available.
Everything was excellent, location, food, staff and design of the hotel
This beautiful hotel in a converted antique building is a model of design and service. The rooms are elegant and comfortable; the grounds are extensive and beautifully landscaped; and the service is perfect. It is outside of Santiago de Compostela in beautiful countryside, a short cab ride from the center of town. It was a wonderful, wonderful place to stay. I would not change a thing about this place. It is completely perfect.
Staff, food and atmosphere none
Very central and convenient both for all the sights of the old city and the shops of the new town.
Location and servicses are good, but the room given to me was very small.
Very central to the city centre, quiet area, small but comfortable room with all facilities
Location Very noisy and lady on desk not helpful.
Central, easy to find, well-run and efficient. The room was'interior' so no view at all but extremely quiet. Room was basic, though fair for this type of hostal. The single room was overpriced, for the quality of the room, but this is always the case when compared to doubles or twins.
Convenient location. Radio in the room. Possibility to use computer. Late check-in although in the end we got the room earlier. Room was rather chilly.
An excellent basic hotel, perfectly situated on the edge of Santiago's old town. If you are looking for 4 star comforts then maybe it is not for you but if want a convenient, friendly and value for money base to explore a lovely old city then this is perfecr.
Centrally located and within 2 minutes walk from the bus stop. Room is clean and quiet. Bathroom is small but clean.
Very good location, good price and comfortable.
