We went to Nisbet Plantation after reading the numerous positive reviews from US and European travelers. Since prices are comparable to those of the nearby Four Seasons we were wondering whether we had taken the right decision. We were not disappointed! Nisbet Plantation is very different from traditional 5-star resorts. It offers authenticity and feels much closer to nature and the land. It is made of bungalows, scattered in the greenery among parsed palm trees. There is no main building per se, and no large building. Reception is some sort of bungalow as well, just a few feet from a fitness center, which also is a small building. There is a nearby somewhat larger building with a restaurant, bar and sitting area that feels very local. On the beach side of the facility there is a swimming pool, next to a hut that serves as breakfast area and restaurant from which there are breath-taking views of the surroundings. Aside from the authenticity and the feeling of being in a natural paradise away from civilization, what distinguishes Nisbet from other resorts is the unique service. In true 5-star resorts we are used to be called by name and smiled to but this seemingly personalized service often sounds hollow. Not so at Nisbet. The smiles seem natural, and frequently come with an interesting conversation, whether it is with the hotel manager or the maid. They treat you like true friends, and do the impossible to make sure you’re happy. Again, not the way we’re used to in high-end resorts, but the way friends would help. If you are looking for traditional 5-star hotels, you may not necessarily like Nisbet. But then again, you wouldn’t need to go to Nevis to enjoy such facilities, as you can find them pretty much everywhere. But if you want to spend a relaxing vacation by the beach, with truly personalized service, hear the nearby crickets and frogs at night and dream of how it might have been in the past on the island, go to Nisbet. You won’t regret it.
It was just the most beautiful and tranquill place we have ever seen. Excellent cuisine, wonderful beach with great shade and hammocks! We literally hated to leave! Words can't express the hospitality shown by the workers at the resort. We can't wait until we go back.
The resort is pricey-- but it includes breakfast and dinner, which makes it much more affordable. The rooms look exactly as posted online. If you like air conditioning, the rooms are dark-- you have to keep all shutters closed in order to keep the air in. Each room is a separate bungalow, and I believe the place only has about 30 bungalows. The beach is small, but there aren't many guests, so it feels very open and secluded from the rest of the island. Be prepared to spend money on alcohol ($5 beers, $10-13 for mixed cocktails), and lunch ($15-24 per person for lunch). Spa prices weren't too bad ($95 for an hour long massage). I would absolutely recommend spending the money and staying here. The ONLY other place I'd consider is the Golden Rock Inn.
Awesome place if you want peace and quiet and not commericalized. Beautiful scenery and staff who treat you like family. This was our second visit and can't wait to go back. Great service and food.
The Fourseasons Nevis was the perfect vacation. The resort was beautiful, but the staff and the quality of personal service made our week on Nevis the best vacation ever. We can't wait to return.
Great hotel and location...very kid friendly, but also offered areas for 16 and above. Watersports team was outstanding and very friendly. Hotel staff was excellent and always very welcoming. Tons of excursions... Run or walk the golf course trails. Limited options for dining and service was slow at times. We did go off site to Bananas Bistro and Coconut Grove restaurant and the food was outstanding and a must do. I'd avoid the sea turtle excursion.
My wife and I still have the most incredible mental pictures of our stay in Nevis and our time at the Four Seasons Resort is a major reason we're still on Cloud 9 after being home for almost 5 days. We can't say enough about the warmth, professionalism and welcoming attitude of the resort staff, who pampered us in every way possible, from rides to and from the Great Room to our hotel room to tips and advice on travel excursions and many other hidden extras. The meals were always delicious and the service was first-rate. Lastly, the short half-hour golf lessons we received have already elevated our enjoyment of the game. Thanks for the memories.
We returned to Four Seasons Nevis for our first visit since 2008. A lot happened over the years. It is hard to believe, but the resort is even better than it was before. The location and the facility are some of the best in the world. What really made our visit to Nevis special, wasn't the location (Nevis is beautiful) or the resort (which is great), but the people. The Four Seasons staff simply exceeded our expectations day after day. One night after a busy day, I was sitting in our room reading. There was a knock at the door. It was one of the staff. She handed me a piece of paper and told me that she thought I might like a Four Seasons bookmark. We had one of the best vacations of our lives. My wife is already planning a return trip. Thank you Four Seasons.
Beautiful and unforgettable resort on a pristine island. The people of Nevis are friendly and relaxed and there is virtually no crime. The resort is relaxed and exquisite, don't miss a single sunset. The diving is fantastic. My only suggestion is to pack a small travel bag to carry on. Since there are only two passenger flights into Nevis a day many suitcases get left behind due to weight restrictions. I long to get back to The Four Seasons in Nevis!
Truly an exotic paradise. Just for relaxation and pleasure. No stress. You are made to feel like you are the only one on the island.
Upon arrival the staff was shocked were were there. The room was very small a queen sized bed completely filled it. The floor had a ridge running from one wall to the other. When I stepped on the ridge the tile gave way. I thought I was going to fall through. Their explanation was it is under renovation. It certainly needed it but it didn't look like any work was being done. And why give us a room that was in work. We did not stay at this hotel. They have a long way to go before they are ready for guests.
