Pros: Thank you Betty for our warm welcome and providing such beautiful accommodation for our two night stay in the Coachhouse. The accommodation contains everything you could wish for including comfortable beds with beautiful linen, stocked fridge, lovely fireplace, huge alfresco area, beautiful gardens and walk trails. If I could give this accommodation 6 stars I would. There are also lovely walks in the nearby RJ Hammer Arboretum. It was very cold during our stay in Victoria, however, this enabled us to experience snow at Mt Donna Buang (an hour way from Olinda).
Cons: Nothing:) Just wish we could have stayed another night.

Also love the self service check in.

Highly recommend this place for a romantic getaway. We will be back :)

9.5 Excellent
Pros: We had a lovely family day trip for my son’s second birthday. My son love the animals and the night tour. Very special experience.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Twist of Willow is located in a very perfect spot in the middle of Yarra Valley, you can reach easily all the wineries and all the local attractions in no more than 15/20 minutes driving. The place in itself its huge and unbelievable,it is only 40 mins away from Melbourne, there are a lot of rare animals including dingoes, sugar gliders, wombats, kangaroos, owls etc and in the night you have the chance to go with the owner for a nocturnal tour and interact with all of them. We staid in the Queen room with the Spa bath which was pretty amazing. I recommend Twist of Willow to everyone and for sure we will be back in summer time to enjoy also the outdoor swimming pool available!!
Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The atmosphere, home away from home. Had a great time and loved all the animals.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The incredibly friendly and professional nature of the owners :)
Cons: Parking :) :) :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! Really interesting and lovely surprise
Cons: Perhaps the parking and driveway/entrance was a little bit concerning as we approached the property at night. We just weren't sure what we were coming into. It looked a little creepy at night; but Wow when we did get inside so amazing! Beautifully decorated and when you see what's done with the animal enclosures and the theme it's just fantastic!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Watching the night creatures on the TV was so fantastic! It flips thru automatically and you can watch the wombat (etc). It's like animal planet or nat geographic channel only live.
Cons: Nothing to dislike.
7.5 Good
Pros: Very comfy Bed and great Spa tub.
Cons: Few items from the breakfast were expired.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: We loved all the animals and how well they were taken cared for! Loved seeing the emu’s at the bathroom window each morning and the sound of all the animals at night.
Cons: I felt the room needed to be updated, too much brown and old utensils. I also would have liked nice soap, fresh tea bags, coffee, biscuits, and nicer bedding, fresh towels etc!
4.5 Okay
Pros: The animals and setting was fantastic and the kids really liked that.
Cons: We went with a small family group last Saturday which cost $500 per night and the place wasn't even cleaned. They have a tiny microwave and rules posted literally everywhere. They are strict on no check ins before 2pm and you have to leave at 10am to allow for the cleaner to come in when clearly this hadn't taken place before we arrived. Nuts and other dirt on the floors and hadn't been cleaned. The place was freezing when we arrived and they hadn't put the heat on presumably to save themselves some more money. Other travellers have complained of this also. No travel cots or anything for kids. You can get one for $50. That is a fraction of what we paid for the night. This is indicative of the kind of cost cutting you see around the place. Things were out of date and empty and there hasn't been anything put into it recently. I get the rules for conduct around animals etc. but telling everyone what you expect of them at that pricepoint when there is no oven or basic is a bit rich. They stated the time of the tour would be written at a certain location. We eventually found it and the time wasn't posted. They then showed up to the door to ask if we wanted to go and the kids were already in bed. No proper communication and clearly animal people with no hospitality aptitude whatsoever treating paying customers like an inconvenience. I was really excited to go, but this kind of archaic dictating what you can and can't do is not for me. Won't be back.
5.5 Okay
Cons: To close to a busy road, we had to end our trip early for a family emergency and it would have been nice of them to return our money for the night we couldn't stay
Mountain Lodge - Mount Dandenong - Building

9.8 Excellent (37 reviews)
Overview Reviews

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Mountain Lodge is exceptional in every way. The generosity of the hosts and the entire experience was perfect. Mountain Lodge accommodation is so tranquil, luxurious and incredible. We have never stayed in such a place where the generosity shown was so amazing. We loved the delicious afternoon tea of home made muffins and chocolate brownies. The breakfast provisions were abundant and the smokey bacon was exquisite in flavor as well as the home made bread! There was so much food to enjoy along with the warmth of the gas log fire, spa bath, port, chocolates, romantic surroundings and the forest vista. We cannot wait to immerse ourselves in this luxury again. Thank you so much for your care and attention to detail. We were left feeling refreshed, energized and totally spoilt.
Cons: Everything was exquisite and absolute perfection!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful place maintained by the wonderful hosts, Julie & Joe. Super cosy downstairs and an even cosier upstairs in the Tasman Suite. The food and freshly baked bread, scones etc. and several condiments and snacks provided were much more than we could ask for. The fridge was loaded with milk, eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes, bacon and made for the perfect breakfast in the hills.
Cons: Water from the shower tends to flow down along the sides of the bath decking, and it needed to be blocked by a towel dam. Necessary to do so since the bath was inside the room and right next to the bed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place was amazing! (photos don't do it justice). We wanted to stay a week instead of just one night. The spa is beautiful, the living room (with gas log fire) is really cosy, and there are two balconies for drinking wine and appreciating the gorgeous misty mountain surrounds. The place has everything you need including kitchenware, and lots of lovely extra touches, like chocolates and port, freshly made bread etc, and super soft, dreamy bathrobes. Julie, the host, made us feel really welcome and we were delighted that when we told her we are vegans, she provided us with so many ingredients to make a great vegan brekky. She goes above and beyond. We will absolutely stay here again :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, very cute room, amazing staff.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The location and atmosphere and the welcome and ongoing help from the owners. Options for breakfast every day were great. All of the little things such as chocolates just made the stay enjoyable and relaxing.
Cons: The bed was a little hard for my wife, but that is being very picky. Hard to fault.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place exceeded everything we expected and thats saying something when they already have a 9.8 rating. Breakfast was lovely i loved the fact it was all local products and we cooked it our self when we wanted. The owner also baked a loaf of bread the night before and left it for us in the morning, just an incredible touch. We went out for dinner on recommendation from the owners and it was amazing and the restaurant CopperFields could not speak any highly of the place we stayed. Lovely location and so quit and relaxing. 100% would stay again.
Cons: Nothing.
9.5 Excellent

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Located amongst the trees in the central, highest point of the Dandenong Ranges National Park close to nature walks, cute towns and glorious Yarra Valley wine region. Generous hosts, plentiful breakfast provisions, good kitchen and cozy bedroom.
Cons: Although there were many attractive 'feminine touches' the rooms lack practical surface space

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely brilliant accommodation. We were met by a wonderful host and were upgraded on arrival. The accommodation is super cosy, clean and we just wanted to stay forever. Can not recommend enough and also can’t wait to get back.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast provisions were excellent and you were provided with way more than you could eat. We also used the provisions for lunch. The room was really warm so you didn't feel the cold from outside, although we did have two beautiful days. The location was in easy walking distance of local shops. It is also relatively easy to drive to Sky High and see some amazing views. We really enjoyed the stay
Cons: It's not that we didn't like the facility, but being an older establishment, it meant that room to move was a bit limited including a small bathroom and needing to wash the odd dish in the bathroom. We however knew this was how it was going to be, so there was no surprise
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Spacious, Comfy, Cosy, and Nice ! Amazing antic-style furniture and decoration, relaxing spa bath and fully functional kitchenette stocked with more than you need for a yum breakfast. All for a reasonable price. Personel is very nice and we always love it when an accomodation is within short walking distance from a local pub.

Cons: No concerns/complaints.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Loved the home-made pancakes, what a lovely breakfast!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is an amazing property! So much time, thought and effort has gone into making it an absolute gem. We stayed with our two toddlers for 4 nights, and we felt right at home. The property is incredibly clean, beautifully decorated, and the beds are super comfortable. We had a car, and found it the perfect place to explore The Dandenong ranges, but still close enough to drive into inner Melbourne (about 30 mins). We would definitely stay again.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The apartment is very spacious and clean and well equiped . It is selfcontained but breakfast is included ; everything (e.a. eggs, bacon, cheese, yoghurt ….) is in the fridge even the famous pancakes. A lot of fruit was on the table. The ghost were on holiday, but their daughter and friend came to give us a lot of tips: thank you. There is lovely garden and the location is very quiet. It was the best place to stay in Australia;( we had 22 stays).
Cons: We understand but it is a pity that we have not met the ghosts.

Pros: The view from the room was spectacular! The room was neat, clean and tasteful. The owner, Mike was polite and friendly and offered to drive us to the wedding we were attending
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent accommodation. The hosts are very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Generous welcoming fruits and the like. The place is as good as the photos (or better). The price is reasonable. We shall certainly return if we choose to once again stay in the area.
Cons: Nothing, really. To be picky: there is no kitchen, though there are kitchen facilities such as fridge, micro-wave, toaster, etc. Water had to be obtained from the bathroom which is a mild inconvenience. Bedside light a bit weak for reading, but that was not a real concern.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Our Murrindini stay was excellent, from arriving late to a pre-warmed room, to waking to a brilliant view. Mike and Mary's home is well thought out with all that you could desire - including catering for our food intolerance.
Cons: Internet could be better
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The lady and the gentleman (I’m so sorry to forgot the names) welcome us with great hospitality. Patiently brief us about the room. I’ll rate the room as 5 stars hotel. It is the best you can find nearby puffing billy.
Cons: The setup of toilet outside the room quite inconvenient but I guess that’s the best they can do in order to fit a small but wonderful kitchen inside the room. Massive amount of insects flying around at the doorstep but again not their fault. Weak WiFi but acceptable.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable and clean
Cons: Nothing

Pros: The location was perfect and Steve was very helpful and friendly while still respecting our privacy. Being able to bring our 2 dogs who are given free access to the property was fabulous. We were made to feel at home, even invited to use their back veranda & lounge.
Cons: Nothing complaint worthy.

Pros: Liked everything to do with the apartment, clean, luxurious, breakfast so good, the owners very friendly and accommodating. 10.0 Excellent
Pros: I liked the location, how clean it was and the comfort of the place was amazing and so relaxing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was excellent. The location was superb Walking distance to all the options in Olinda, excellent parking facilities, and the privacy and feeling like we were the only ones on the range was magnificent. Even servicing the room was great as it happened and we never bothered or inconvenienced. Absolutely recommend Annie Roes. It is superb. Loved the opportunity to have had the pleasure of staying there.
Cons: There is nothing I did not like. The people, the place, and the cottage were all well above my expectations.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great.Lots of choice. I guess a hot breakfast is rare these days.
Cons: I thought the room included the hammam bath.
7.5 Good
Pros: The set up was lovely for a night with breakfast goodies and soft music.. The room had heating which is a must.
Cons: The only thing was the floor is fake wood type and this room really needs carpeting to keep it warm and not so cold under foot. Everything else was fine.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: First time staying in this cosy cottage (and definitely wont be the last time). I didn't get to meet Anne face to face but communication via SMS and phone call was excellent. We had a very late check-in and she was kind enough to leave the lights and heater on for us.
Cons: There was nothing i didn't like about the property. Just the weather was very cold .... for us Sydney siders.. we hardly experience cold like that :D
9.3 Excellent
Pros: A lovely cottage, clean and tidy. The bed was so comfy. As I didn't really like sleeping with a heater, the electric blanket kept me warm despite of the chill weather. Breakfast basket was pretty well prepared and sufficient. Quiet location, 8 min walk away from main road with lovely trees along both side of road. Be prepared to walk up slope and down slope if carrying luggage bag.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: A lovely big basket of things to choose from for our continental breakfast. Fruit, Cereal, Yoghurt, Bread, Muffins and Croissants. Cottage was lovely, warm and very inviting when we arrived later in the day. We had good instructions on how to find the place and get our key for entry.
6.3 Good
Pros: It was all good.
Cons: The shower head leaked and sprayed water onto the ceiling of the shower stall. The car parking space was impossible to reverse out of due to not being able to see oncoming traffic. Therefore I had to turn the car around in the limited space available, and this was very difficult and time consuming.
6.3 Good
Pros: The location and the bed were very good. The place was neat and clean. There is good outdoor deck with table and chairs that would be great in the warmer months to enjoy a wine and cheese.
Cons: The Garden Cottage is not really a cottage... more a bungalow with a small bathroom/toilet. Advertised as “Luxury” .. the “Garden Cottage” is not, it should be advertised as B&B on a budget as the facility in the room is minimal.. however, it should be noted the price we payed was not a “Luxury” price. No room for carry bags other than on the floor. Whilst the volume of food was very good, the continental breakfast was disappointing.. cheap plain white bread, sugary muffins, cheap jams .... such a shame with access to local produce.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was lovely and very, very generous! Personally I would have liked to boil an egg but there were none. But there was plenty of everything else, yoghurt, fruit, bread and toppings, croissants, muffins, cereals, milk. The location was perfect for our needs, and parking was easy. We stayed in the Penthouse and would love to go back! One night is not enough.
Cons: Would have liked an egg but everything was just lovely!

Pros: The Gas log fire was much appreciated on a cold winter weekend in the Dandenongs. It was too cold and windy to go sight seeing so we enjoyed the fire and just relaxed.

Pros: Gas fire and comfy couches in the lounge room for cool autumn nights - very cosy. And electric blankets on the beds - all the winter comforts for wimps! Totally private from hosts house. Very friendly and helpful hosts - but not intrusive. They catered for our very specific needs - down to the brand and type of milk and bread. Location while not picturesque - right on the edge of, and very easy access to, the Dandenongs Numerous good takeaways and 'budget' restaurants in walking distance And an easy walk to the Puffing Billy Railway - heaps of fun for the kids
Cons: Continental brekkie was fairly basic. Suited us but others may look for something a bit more exotic - or even a cooked brekkie.

Pros: The house had a lovely warm homely feel about it. Akin to going to your grandmothers house when you were young and it just felt very cosy. The hosts were kind enough to place a portacot on our room so that our 9montha old could comfortably sleep.
Cons: The only thing that can improve this lovely home is a small kitchen basin. However, the hosts are happy to do the dish washing for you.
10.0 Excellent

Pros: I loved our stay at The gallery B&B Olinda. The B&B was gorgeous, clean and looked exactly as it was advertised. The fire place and spa bath were definitely highlights for me but my favourite part of the stay was the adorably wrapped fresh bread that is cooked and delivered to your door step daily. It was definitely a treat to top off the already awesome breakfast supplied. The range of tea, coffee and condiments supplied was very generous and rather delicious! The car park was huge and the B&B was nestled in amongst a beautiful Forrest setting. Overall it was an amazing stay and I will be back again one day!
Cons: nothing.

We could've spent the entire weekend inside (and we nearly did!), we had everything we could possibly need. The property was exceptional, and the breakfast was divine!! The attention to detail and thoughtfulness of all provided products made a wonderful addition to our stay. We will most definitely be staying at the Gallery again! Many thanks to Rhonda and Mark.
