Set in the heart of Picos de Europa National Park, Hostal Peña Santa is located in Soto De Sajambre. Offering free Wi-Fi, the charming guest house has a bar and restaurant. With wood and stone finishes, the rustic-style guest house features colourful rooms with lovely views. Peña Santa’s restaurant serves homemade meals and local products. Surrounded by nature, the location is ideal for outdoor activities such as hiking or cycling. There is a variety of traditional Spanish restaurants within a 20 minutes’ drive. There is a bus stop next to the property and Oseja de Sajambre is 5 km away, while Riaño Reservoir is a 45-minute drive. Cangas de Onis is within the same distance.
Pros: The location is fantastic if you’re looking for a relaxing place to stay. The rooms are nicely furnished, the beds are very comfortable and the whole property seems to be kept in very good condition. Also, the views of the surrounding mountains are very impressive.
Cons: The breakfast offering could be more substantial. For example, more fresh, local products could be offered and this would complement the traditional and natural feel of the local area.
Pros: We loved everything about this place: location, people, food, the flow of time... totally recommend.
Pros: A great location for hiking in the more western PixelMaster A GREAT LOCATION from which to hike in the western classic of Los Picos . The old village of Soto is a very good glimpse of the traditional ways of rural life. We were able to enjoy a guided cultural and ecological tour of 4 hours for free with two national park rangers which starts at the hotel apparently every Tuesday. Another takes place on Thursdays. We did two other full day hikes. Meals were tasty and ample and good value.
Cons: While bathroom was spacious bed room was a little cramped. WiFi was I.intermittent in room and internet slow to non existent but that's the mountains.
Pros: Rustic retreat way off the beaten track. Bar/restaurant excellent & reasonable prices. If you want nightlife avoid this place please & leave it to those of us that appreciate peace & quiet.
Pros: Kids pebolin, nice food... beautiful hotel, village, trails
Pros: Lovely little village at the end of the road with many mountain hikers around. There are several nice trails, from easy to difficult. At the end of the day the villagers and the people of the pueblo all meet up in the cosy bar(terrace) next door what gives this hostal a homely feeling and it felt a bit like the alpine 'après-ski'. In this case 'après-hike'...!
Cons: Everything was as we hoped it would be...
Pros: Fabulous location in a gorgeous mountain village. Rooms full of light, homely and cosy. Right next to the mountain and the hikes. Very friendly staff.
Cons: Breakfast could improve. It would be nice to have separate thiner pillows.
Pros: Amazing location and beautiful little inn with very friendly and helpful owners.
Pros: Amazing location, excellent bar and restaurant and accommodation!
