10.0 Excellent
Pros: Brilliant place. Couldn't ask for more than this. There's also a great desert snack shop near the end of the street going towards the temple.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The best B&B you can find! The staff was super helpful and nice and they spoke perfectly English wich is very rare in Japan. The room was just beyond our exepectations and so beautiful. Very clean as well. The breakfast was magnificent and so tasty! Would definitly recommend taking the Japanese style breakfast! The hotel is nicely located beacuse it's 15 minutes walking from the train station and next to every spot of the region you want to visit. This is the best discovery of our 3 weeks long journey in japan and I would so much recommend staying at Inase but also visiting the region for 2 days (Sakamoto, Ostu and many other small places around).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent facilities and atmosphere. Miki san was very helpful and spoke excellent English. Breakfast was delicious traditional Japanese.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: All the staff there are so friendly and treat us so warm. The hotel design is so unique and the cleanliness the superb. Good breakfast and we have bottomless coffee and tea for whole day consume.
Cons: It is a share shower place and it is located at the ground floor. A little bit not convenient but it is still acceptable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The host was so friendly and the house is very nice
Cons: I don’t have anything I didn’t like about the house. It was a perfect place for us.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was really nice ans clean ! The breakfast was really good ! The location is near the train station and near the center, unfortunately it was monday when I arrived so a lot of restaurants were closed. The staff is really nice and speak really good english it was awesome. The inn is really nice, the showerrom very clean and the bathroom too. Except for the numerous closed restaurants, my stay in this hotel was PERFECT.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Everything. Inase is a place to recharge your soul. It has an energy that invites you to stay and linger. I actually cried when I left. I’m not kidding. I did not want to leave this place. Two nights is not enough. I recommend all the things on offer... It was an honour to dress in yukata and participate in the tea ceremony. My daughter and I loved the calligraphy session. We could have played with that all day. To have you print out our names and meanings was also really special. The staff there are kind and go way beyond to make sure you are comfortable and happy. Miki, you are a treasure and I will always remember you and your kindness. I truly hope to return one day and spend much more time in your lounge and gardens. And to simply linger
Cons: Nothing. The property is beautiful and perfect xx
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect, and by train it's close to Kyoto as well.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The service, the room, the breakfast, the bathtub, the house.
Cons: Absolutely nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I liked the whole setting: it’s closeness to the train station, the comfortable room and bed, friendly and helpful staff, the serene atmosphere you feel immediately as you enter it’s premises, the nice Japanese style breakfast, the beautiful breakfast room with a view to the garden, just to name a few. But above all, I truly enjoyed the way this Machia had been restored and decorated by its owner architect, all done in good taste that shows respect for the Japanese traditions and craftsmanship.

Pros: We've experienced the traditional Japanese culture during the day we stayed in the hotel. The dinner we reserved was wonderful. The town is quite as peaceful.
Cons: The roof and the door's opening are too law for my husband we is 186 tall, he hit his head several times when he was at his careless moment.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely staff, delicious food, gorgeous view, relaxing onsen, lovely view,... Just great. It comes at a price but I believe it is very much worth it.
Cons: At night, you have to get back from the station with a taxi. It's not really a big deal as the fare with be under ¥1000. Apart from that, all was fine.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Love the choices of bath available, the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the cleanliness.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was brilliant especially if you like seafood. The room was a very nice Japanese style room. The onsens were fabulous.
Cons: The price is steep but I guess that’s how much a lovely ryokan experience costs.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: It’s authentic onsen experience, its a wide selections (6) of pools, it’s real ryokan luxury
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Everything else was great. You have a choice of 3 hot springs each night or the option to book one of two private ones, The two open air one alternate gender each night, then there are two indoor ones for each gender, with two private ones you can choose to book Shuttle service from otogo onsen station was a life saver for us having a few bags, (3rd week of a 5 week trip.).

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room had a nice view and it was clean. The staff’s attention to detail was superb! They were very attentive and made us feel very welcome. The property has both indoor and outdoor onsen which were open really late, so we had a good soak after having an excellent dinner. The property also has karaoke rooms available for reservation. Pros: Fantastic food and very detail-oriented staff. We were offered different dinner and breakfast options throughout our 2 night stay. Note that drinks are extra. Public, open-air, and private Onsen (extra 2700 fee per 50 minutes) are all very nice and clean. Traditional Japanese room was very comfortable and quiet. Not very busy during our stay (start of January).
Cons: Note that the hotel does not have laundry facilities.

Pros: Great staff and onsen experience
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff! Explained everything in detail for us from the available facilities to each dish served during dinner. Room is huge and clean! Perfect relaxing stop.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast and dinner are great, onsen is superb, and staff are very friendly. The overall services are excellent and unique, they sent email to confirm my date of stay and other needs week before my check in, and picked me up at the Ogotoonsen train station when I arrived. The front desk sent hotel’s post card for me free when I checked out. Thanks!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was incredibly friendly and the shuttle picked us up in less than five minutes from the time we called them from the station. They had English speaking staff that communicated the customs of staying at a ryokan and let us know of all the amenities available to us. They were able to arrange a really good massage for us in less than a hour of checking in on very short notice. Staff was amazingly friendly and provided excellent service. The kaiseki dinner was delicious as well as breakfast. Everything was so well presented and all facilities were extremely clean. After dinner, I basically had the onsen to myself which was amazingly relaxing. I would stay here again to experience a ryokan.
Cons: Nothing
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Helpful and polite staff. Food was great and staff went out of their way to explain different food items during dinner. Despite ongoing renovations, noise was kept to a minimum.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was splendid. Great view from the room, lots of space, much care for details. Dinner was an amazing experience, breakfast also in a league of its own. The hot spring was highly relaxing and did wonders to our skin. Also transfer to and from the train station and the check-in were handled in the smoothest manner. Also the front desk and restaurant personnel all spoke more than enough English, no trouble communicating at all.
Cons: A/C only worked in heating mode at one set temperature. This will probably change with the season, although temperature adjustment would have been nice.

Pros: Large rooms, modern, clean. Great view. Very nice staff, very efficient (ask anything and in 5 min it’s in the room) Affordable parking. 30 min drive to Kyoto.
Cons: Nothing really
8.0 Excellent
Cons: The time for using the pool. We went there wirh my kids for the pool. For a genius deal we are allowed to check in at 5pm and check out at 10am. Pool time is 9am to 5pm only. They have a night pool but only for adults. I should have check it before we booked.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: View was awesome. Close to waterfront. Huge bed and spacious room. Great value for money.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location, the room
Cons: That hotel guests have to pay to use the hotel pool. Also, information in the room were only in Japanese. More English training for the staff would be great
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location, large room compare to others and the swimming pool for our kids
Cons: Nothing
7.5 Good
Pros: Beautiful, elegant skyscraper building by the lake, designed by an acclaimed Japan’s architect Kenzo Tange. Comfortable large renovated room with king size bed, good bed linen, a stylish chaise longue and arm chair. Counteract the restaurant choices offered at the hotel by eating at the nearby German restaurant Wurzburg, by the lake, good food at reasonable prices.
Cons: Despite the lovely spacious room, the small bathroom was awful - the shower itself was outside the bath and washing was meant to be done sitting on a small plastic stool. There was a separate bath. Very little English spoken by staff, although the bell captain and her manager were helpful and competent. We ate at the hotel’s Chinese restaurant Riha, and were greatly disappointed. Staff were inattentive, didn’t speak English, made some errors with service and it was very expensive.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Service at the reception is warm and considerate. View from my room 34f is awesome!!

Pros: Breakfast is good. There is excellent lake scenery from balcony. Its room&bed&restroom met my request with quiet&clean.
Cons: Hot Spring is good. But little boy can go into lady‘s only place, which was surprised and not good experience for my friends. All women were naked at pool and so the boy, which made my friends embarrassed.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Since this was our first visit to Japan we had never experienced a 'traditional' Japanese breakfast. Overall everyone in my party very much enjoyed the selection and taste of everything. Dinner was even better. We also thought the staff was very polite and thoughtful.
Cons: We understand space can be an issue but the size of the bathroom was at times difficult to maneuver in. The limited outlets was also a problem, wish there were some on the other wall and not just in the one corner.
7.5 Good
Pros: Dinner is very good. Staffs are polite and friendly
Cons: But the drink offer after spring is not 24 hours. Dont have any cold drinks after 11pm
9.3 Excellent
Pros: We had a 3 month old baby and the staffs were very considerate and provided amenities that made our stay, including the baby, very comfortable and enjoyable.
Cons: Not so close (or accessible) to the lake as I initially thought.
7.0 Good
Pros: Staff was very kind solving any request on the spot. The restaurant and thermal baths areas are new, comfortable and beautifully decorated. Excellent set menu dinner and breakfast buffet.
Cons: The main hall and main building in general is due for a renovation. They are functional in their 80's style, but we were expecting a more up to date interior for the exclusive cost. Room was comfortable, but again would benefit from a face lift. Traditional is compatible with renovated and well maintained.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing - there was a bath on the balcony but unfortunately it overlooked the car park so unusable.
Cons: The toilet smelt like it had never been cleaned. It made me retch. The food was disgusting and gave us both food poisoning. Was basically in an industrial estate overlooking a car park. Awful place. Complete waste of money and time. Avoid at all costs. Rank.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Service was impeccable. Staff were very attentive. The rooms were well equipped and the private onsen in the room made it more special. Dinner was amazing and breakfast was superb as well. The hotel also provides shuttle service to/ from Ogotoosen station.
Cons: The building is a bit old but clean and well equipped.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: All of staff are so kind. The room and other spaces clean.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: everything in the hotel
Cons: our room is not clean enough (602). We could see lots of dirty stuffs in the room, such as a dirty box on the ground nearby refrigerator, and lots of dust on the Tatami in the room.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very friendly and the hospitality was incredible. The shuttle bus was convenient and went to pick us up even late in the evening. The breakfast was great as well!
Cons: The only thing which was a bit difficult was finding somewhere to eat outside the hotel. There was nothing within walking distance, but the tourist attractions were all reachable by train though.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The location & view is super
Cons: Too many insects outside balcony at night time which are so scary

Pros: Breakfast was good. Shuttle bus was great. But not much scenery outside window (at least in my room).
Cons: I thought there would be lake scenery but it was very more like a slice of the lake.
6.8 Good
Pros: the dogs are super cute
Cons: the open-air private bath lacks privacy as it is surrounded with buildings. Also, the hot spring in the private bath was not warm.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very authentic experience of traditional ryokan. Loved the bath in room and at the rooftop. Pretty interior, big room, yukata, tea. Interesting and cute town, very friendly personal, picked us up from station and brought us back, japanese breakfast
Cons: Limited english, except one receptionist, but it didnt hinder the communication:) the town a bit empty, not a lot of food choices or much to see but for one or two days enough:) Considering the building there is specific smell, but it didnt bother much. Price for the private bath is a bit much in my opinion but i still loved the experience. But In overall we had amazing stay!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The service was outstanding, the staff were very welcoming and always friendly. The food was delicious and the baths though only 2 public ones, were comfortable for soaking. The private pool in our room was superb for anyone not wanting to use the public baths.
Cons: Wasn't much to see or do close by. Only 2 public onsen pools for each sex, they are probably the same in design which is probably why they don't swap them around.
7.0 Good
Pros: Good staff service, very nice food.
Cons: Location, not walkable distance to the train station
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Amazing staff, super friendly and accomodating. Rooms are traditionally decorated. Dinner and breakfast were outstanding. The onsen facilities were great. The room we had had its own onsen which made things easier.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Baths were great. Room was clean and spacious. Dog friendly hotel. They have two shibas there.
Cons: Shuttles are only certain times a day. That schedule should have been posted on their site or here. Would have been better if shuttle operated more frequently.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The friendliness and service from the staff made the stay incredibly pleasant. Very relaxing atmosphere, excellent food, and convenient pickups from the nearby station!
5.0 Okay
Pros: Staff very friendly but could not speak english
Cons: Requested for high floor and dinner in room. Instead was the only guest on ground floor and dinner at private dining area. The open bath and shower in the room was facing the road and people walking pass can look in amid some bushes.

Yuzanso - Ōtsu - Pool
12
8.3 Excellent (851 reviews)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place is private and away from noise. The view from the room is beautiful and there is a private onsen overlooking the lake.
Cons: Nil
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was amazing! Staffs were very friendly. Lake view was great from the room. You can choose what time you want the room to be serviced. Shuttle service is convenient to and from Ogotoonsen station.
Cons: Not many staff members speak English - but they try really hard to help. Need to check in before 8pm - it is a quite a long journey from the airport.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Private open air bath was a nice experience. Accommodating staff.
Cons: None
6.3 Good
Pros: The breakfast was unique in a way for me because it was not an ordinary hotel buffet. And the onsen and room view was more good then I expected.
Cons: It would have been better if there was a cold water with the food. As for the single room, I cannot say it was comfortable. it was a hard bed with the cushion on top. Plus the air conditioner was right above my head, so the cold air was hitting me too directly.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very friendly and helpful, they went over and above to make sure we were comfortable
Cons: We didn’t know how far the walk was from the train station but that was our own misinformation
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Ryokan's are a special type of accommodation. This place delivered in it's feel. Cell phone at Ogoto Onsen Station to call Yuzanso for free to organise a shuttle service - super helpful if you don't have a Japanese Sim. They offer Set menu breakfast and dinner which include a wide variety of foods so if you are a particular eater than they also have a kitchen which you can order from when you are there.
Cons: Location is maybe Yuzanso's weakest aspect but when staying at a Ryokan that offers free shuttle service from a free cell phone you really can't complain. Set menu's for breakfast and dinner could've been better advertised in what they include.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The lake view is stunning, dinner and breakfast were utterly good and delicious.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Nice staffs at the restaurant where we have breakfast. Thery are very welcoming and warm. Greeting with smile. Good service. Good level of communication in English. It's probably the only best part of the hotel. Quite ashamed for large hotel.
Cons: Staff at the front desk are not welcoming. Most of them are rarely understanding and speaking English or someone who speaks are not welcoming either when asking for some request or service. Very unattentive. Unlike other hotels or Ryokans where staffs speak little to none English at all but they are very welcoming and attentive, always response to guests request with their smile. The room was ok for the room with private outdoor hot tub. Fond small mark of blood on pillow case. Location is in Ogoto, Otsu. Ok for traveller who wants to explpre around Otsu and Lake Biwako but very far from Kyoto, about 20 mins by car to Train station plus an hour by Train to Kyoto or by Car. Not very easy to be found even by Taxi as the driver got a bit lost the way to find the hotel. Experience was almost totally dissappointing but it has made up some marks from the welcoming staffs at the restaurant. Thanks to aunties and service guys over there.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Food, view and staff
Cons: Location
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent food and lovely room with private bath on balcony.
Cons: Only suggestion would be to provide an English menu for the set dinner- it was delicious and would have been great to have some information on some of the dishes.

Pros: Hotel location was superb and our bedroom was spacious and extremely comfortable. It was very good value for money and the buffet breakfast provided options for all tastes. Shuttle service to and from railway station was very useful.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We loved our room so large for Japan. Great view of the lake and a fantastic breakfast. The indoor pool was a great bonus.
Cons: There really wasn't anything we didn't like. Just felt it would have been amazing with a bit of maintenance on the grounds.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing
7.0 Good
Pros: The room was big and beds very comfortable. Bathroom was big and well equipped, even though the sink was very low. The hotels shuttleservice was excellent.
Cons: Staff spoke very poorly English. As guests staying for 1 week, we only got one free entrence to spadepartement. Not treatment, but just to be in that part of hotell. The socalled western breakfast was poor. Europeans do not eat spaghetti for breakfast. The restaurants at the hotell seem to be very good, but dinner consisted only of a full package, very high price. And it was impossible to be just a little bit hungry. But there were good alternatives Close to hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: the room is very comfortable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is 100% worth the price. Room was big and clean. Bathroom was fantastic. If you want to relax after a long journey - go to restaurants or you can order food to your room (thought menu in this case is smaller). Definetly want to stay here one more time to my way to or from Kyoto or Osaka.
7.5 Good
Pros: breakfast was very good with very tasty croissants.. very spacious hotel.

Pros: Unobstructed view of Lake Biwa from the hotel. Polite staff who made efforts to communicate to non-japanese speaking guests. Easy to get to, even though its abit away from kyoto. There is a regular shuttle bus from the hotel and train station
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Traditional Japanese Inn, private onsen (on the balcony overlooking the lake!), and traditional Japanese dinner in the room! Absolutely amazing! And the private valet was super nice! This was a great way to begin Golden Week before traveling to Kyoto!
Cons: Location is far from other amenities and entertainment - not a problem as we went just for the room and the private onsen. Would have been nice if there was an English menu so we could understand what we were eating during the traditional Japanese meal, but that added to the charm and the fun!
5.8 Okay
Pros: Flexible shuttle bus pick up service between the Ogoto Onsen Station and the hotel.
Cons: The hotel official website indicates that staying guests can choose having the Japanee dinner either in room or at dining hall. Regretfully during my two night's stay I was told in room diningbis not available. I believe staying guests are allowed to smoke in the room because the room is abundantly equipped with ashtrays. I did request for a non-smoking room but seemed to be meaningless.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice onsen with private bath in room. Excellent view from room.
Cons: Dinner could be better but breakfast was nice with lots of variety.

Pros: Shuji was a very warm host providing us a lot of care and recommendations during our stay. Breakfast was definitely one of the highlights, especially the coffee and the Cheese Toasts. The location is among a very local and quiet neighborhood, which provide you the peace you need for a vacation. It is close to the train station, therefore, easy to commute to all tourist spots around the area. It is also very close to the lake with a great jogging route to relax. Facilities are very clean and well equipped/furnished.

Pros: Quiet., clean ,good kitchen and walking distance (10minutes) to restaurants and supermarkets. We cooked twice for ourselves Less than 30minutes to Kyoto central. Bikes available and Lake Biwa has 200km of graded, sealed paths. Rooms were spacious and the 2 aircons were great. We are away this time for4 months so tend to be on the budget side of average.

You can rent a bike for good price. The room is clean. Atmosphere inside is very calm. There is an onsen where you can relax. P.S. We were the first Russians staying at View Lodge Biwa! 9.3 Excellent
Pros: The location is awesome. Near otsuka JR station.
7.5 Good
Cons: First time experienced capsule type hotel. But it was awesome. Everything was perfect enough the interior was so comfortable.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The amenities are very adequate and the facilities are on the whole clean. The location is really close to the train station.
Cons: As this was the first time I used the service of this hotel, the staff didn’t give me any explanation on how to use the facilities of the hotel, even for the wifi address. I needed to ask him everything, this is not the kind of service I would have expected. One more thing was that the male staff could enter the female dormitory room freely, even though that was not during the checkout time. I felt very unsafe and insecure.
6.8 Good
Pros: Right beside the train station
Cons: Wifi does not work and has very limited connection
10.0 Excellent

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Need to make clear that this is a LOVE HOTEL. And that requires checking in and out every day for many hours. I was going to stay for 4 daysas I was looking for a place to rest. AND I didn't know about Love Hotel and what it entails. And I was alone, so kind of a waste. I had large baggage so it wold be difficult to check in and out for 7 hours every day. So I only stayed first night. Staff was very understanding and considerate. And I would stay again if my circumstances were more appropriate for it. Close to Aeon mall and Lake Biwa.
Cons: I was alone at a Love Hotel :) (Daily checkout policy)
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The rooms are large and very well equipped. The bathroom too was great with an amazing jacuzzi bathtub. Comfy bed and always well maintained.
Cons: No where does it state on the website that their usual policy is only set up for single night stays. They expected us to repack our things and leave them at reception every morning. After some discussion (using translator apps as only one staff member knew any English but that’s fine) we managed to get permission to keep the same room and leave our things there. A little stressful. Its also slightly more difficult to get to the train station than it suggests. It’s a solid 25-30minute walk and there are no buses or anything to make it easier. Only a £7 taxi though so not too bad.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: The first room until water came down from the roof and we had to move to a much older room
Cons: They locked us in the room you can only come out if you called reception they locked it from the outside very uncomfortable, than water a lot of water cane down the roof so we had to move to another room

Pros: Large room
Cons: Nothing

7.7 Good
Pros: The proximity to the train station was very nice.
Cons: Walls were very thin, yelling kids next door the first night made it a challenge to sleep. If they wouldn't have left the next day we would have requested another room.
7.5 Good
Pros: Room size was good. Breakfast was good.
Cons: Room seems a bit old and could do with new paint / wall paper. Bathroom small.
8.0 Excellent
