The pool was open until midnight.
The water in the pool was 90 degrees. The blinds were warped and you could see everything in our room from the parking lot. We had to use sheets to cove the blinds.
Cost and location
My wife and I stayed here for one night. We chose it for the cost and location. When we arrived we were unpleasantly surprised- there was that old motel smell, and overall, it was underwhelming and disappointing. The worst part was the next morning when I stepped in a puddle of water in the hotel room. We searched for the source, and after my wife heard a trickling sound coming from the floor, she saw that the water was seeping from under the tiling. We had to use all the towels to absorb the water as we got ready to go.
Classic Motel Update With History
Great hottub and pool area with 2 restaurants on the premises, the Reef historic tiki bar and greek place. Laid back nostalgic vibe. Rooms nice enough and large...a bit outdated but more than functional.
Bed could have been more comfortable...a little too soft. Excellent cleaning staff...very clean and well maintained property.
Great value for money
Spacious and comfortable rooms, very clean. Bar and restaurant looked great but we did not have time to use them. Beautiful pool
Loved the pool, and its open until midnight
Ressa was very kind and professional. It was a very quick stay but enjoyed the pool at night
Tiki feel and vibe are great. Friendly staff.
Rooms need updating.
Comfortable, Clean, and Dog Friendly
Grassy area for dogs warm pool Bedding was nice on-site restaurant was convenient DVR was a great plus
Shower was too high, and couldn't get the water hot enough Carpet needed cleaning had to keep dogs on leash- rather have it fenced Can't enjoy the pool- no place to leave the dogs- maybe a couple kennels for a quick dip? With a treat my dogs would be happy for a bit.
I liked that it is a pet friendly hotel with a beautiful pool. The staff was friendly and able to accommodate my family
The cleanliness of the grounds could be better. A guest got sick in the lawn area and it was never properly cleaned up.
Nothing to like.
It didn't look like anything advertised on the website. The pool is surrounded by the parking lot. There are no towels at the pool. We didn't even check in, but left after 10 minutes and moved to a different hotel.
Location, nice bath
Dirty and stained carpet in room 246

At The Reef, guests are able to enjoy casual appetizers that are perfect for sharing, while also sipping on a handcrafted cocktail.
Although there are many reasons why guests flock to the Caliente Tropics Hotel, one of the main contributing factors is that the hotel has such as unique and rich history. Created in 1964, it was once a hangout spot for some of the most famous celebrities of that century, such as Sammy Davis Jr., Frank Sinatra, and Dean Martin. After a major renovation in 2000, the hotel transformed into what we see today, an affordable lodging option that still maintains its charm and culture.

Art-enthusiasts will want to make sure that they stop by Warnock Fine Arts, a popular local gallery that is a 7min walk away.
If you are arriving at Palm Springs International Airport and would like to travel to the Caliente Tropics Hotel as quickly as possible, it is best to drive between the two locations, as this will only take you 7 to 10min. A standard UberX will cost you $13, while an UberXL will be closer to $18 to $20. As the city has an efficient public transportation system, it is also possible to take the local bus line to make the trip. If you hop on lines 30 and 111, you will reach the hotel in just over 1h.
