The Relais Hotel du Vieux Paris is notable for its cozy, vintage ambience, appealing to the many European writers, artists, and musicians who have sought inspiration here over the years. The hotel is an ideal hideaway for this set, given its location in the heart of the Latin Quarter, which was once renowned for its literary associations and vibrant student life. Be sure to meet the hotel's owner, Madame Odillard, if you can -- she has fascinating stories to recount.
A Historic Hotel in a Historical Quarter
The hotel's 12 rooms and 7 suites are individually, charmingly decorated, all featuring 15th century exposed beams. WiFi access is free and a delightful continental breakfast is included in the room rate. The surrounding area is also full of boulangeries and cafes. The staff go the extra mile to help non-French speaking guests in getting acquainted with Paris, with useful directions and recommendations, resulting in a sort of camaraderie that can be hard to find in the hospitality industry.
What's Around to Expore
The Relais Hotel du Vieux Paris is within walking distance of the Seine, Musée du Louvre, and the Notre Dame cathedral. Visit relics of the Middle Ages at the Cluny Museum, have a coffee at the iconic Café de Flore, and stroll down the storied Boulevard Saint-Germain, all within steps of the hotel's front doors.
Wi Fi could have been faster
location -- busy area of Paris but very quiet
concierge not much help. hotel looked a little tired since we last stayed there -- and so loved it -- in 1998
Location superb - couldn't be more central. Fascinating history to the hotel, built in 1480, and where William Burroughs wrote the naked Lunch. Room very comfortable.
Bathroom on the small side, and could do with updating. No Tea/Coffee in room.
good location for major attractions, staff was welcoming and helpful.
Breakfast very expensive for what you received, mini bar outrageously expensive. Our bathroom had a huge column in it preventing us from opening or closing the shower door and had to step into the shower completely to turn on water. room temp not adjustable, we paid more to have laundry done then we actually paid purchasing the items. felt we should have been warned about expense.
The hotel is located in the real centre of Paris. The building is old and nicely restaurated. Service is good.
The bathroom is quite small but is arrangaed in a clever way. However, the door to the bathroom let all sounds come out - good for one person, not so good for two.
location is very good
Rooms claustrophobically small. Airconditioning cannot be regulated in the room, was warm the first day, we had to open the window. Second day was better. Bed is 1.90 m; too small for me. Pillows not nice. Find it difficult to believe that this a four star hotel; price way too high.
Ideal location, short walking distance to River Sienne, Louvre, Notre Dame etc. Room very quiet and peacefull despite close proximity to the usual tourest attractions.
The shower was terrific. Entire bathroom though small very well designed. Good bed. Nice and quiet. Breakfast very nice as well.
Little light so hard to see inside of closet.
exclent friendly stuff just because them i can stay there once more.
quiet but central location, beautiful room, understated but efficient service
Curtains could cover the windows better, but overall excellent.
