We booked for our 20th Wedding Anniversary as a last minute luxury break, largely based on the the reviews and were not disappointed - everything was fabulous - even the weather! The high points were definitely the friendly, efficient staff, the amazing food and the lovely room - we will definitely return.
The owners remembered we had stayed before and greeted us accordingly. Rooms are pleasingly clean. Room could do with a coat of paint and attention to the sqeaky bed is needed. However we did not tell the managers,as we didnt want to upset them! The rooms could be on the verge of sliding into the needing attention category and not the award winners of 2006. Please dont let this decent place decline.
Outstanding food, excellent accomodation, and naturally friendly service. None
High quality of fixtures, fittings and consumables in room Restaurant prices quite high
Excellent room and facilities. Good food. Very well looked after.
Friendly welcome and helpful staff, room was clean and comfortable. Food in restaurant was excellent.
Excellent , food, service, cleanliness and comfort. Pleasant staff would go again.
Very enjoyable stay. Rooms are in a nicely converted stable yard 50 yards behind the pub. Good pub food.
Comfortable bed, friendly, helpful staff, excellent food A little pricey
Original, all decor in style of Empire period, very efficient and pleasant staff
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, it was everything and more than we expected. The staff were delightful and faciities perfect (excepting the lack of a shaver point in our bathroom + the tap was wobbly). We loved our stay and would love to make another visit. I will and have already recommended it to others. Thank you! No!
The Old Railway Station is a beautiful and charming venue. The staff are wonderful and the whole place is exceptionally special. Nothing its wonderful!
The relative seclusion and quiet despite being near a busy road. A step into a peaceful yesterworld. The welcome. Relatively expensive for a 'B&B'. No evening foo availability but a good food pub two minutes walk.
Friendly welcoming staff, exellent breakfast.Everything you could need in the room. Can't think of any really.
Oiginality, privacy and general lack of hassle - excellent breakfast - food and service There are cheaper places to eat than those recommended in hotel literature!
Great ambience. Fantastic building. Very helpful and enthusiatic staff. Nothing
The whole set up is " elegant".
fun to experience. Excellent breakfast.very good bathroom, good shower, bed mattress not so good .Overall very comfortable, would certainly recommend to friends. lumpy mattress
This place is tough to beat for a nostalgic, memorable, romantic and unique experience, especially for anyone who has ever had an overnight stay on a train. Also, the Badger pub next door is excellent. It was below freezing at night during our stay and an antique Pullman railroad car must be difficult to heat effectively, but I still chalk this up as part of the experience.
We had a lovely two night stay. The welcome was very warm and friendly. Lovely room-super comfy bed and pillows. Kept extremely clean, to a very high specification in every respect. Very good breakfasts cooked by a delightful lady who was very friendly and nice. The whole set up was delightful.
Afriendly homely hotel and my vegetarian meal was excellent, with a lovely outside dining area.
Friendly staff & good food.Character of building& views over countryside.
Position of hotel - has views from along the road Food was apalling - evening meal partly overcooked partly undercooked/ Breakfast largely innedible/ room on noisy main road and very expensive for only adequate facility/
Peaceful , Comfortable, Friendly With pleanty of facilities in-room Bath / Shower No hand rail not easy to get out of bath/ shower
Initial presenation very good, food very good. Overall clenliness good. Location good for us as we needed to be near Petworth Ceiling over bath needed attention, looked very scappy. Also not good for the elderly with poor eyesight as there aremany small steps. Brochure states that tea/coffe available all day but we had to wait until 1600 hrs before the staff came on
Pleasant staff and resonable food Outside a looks a bit scruffy, my room (6) was overhanging the main London Rd and roadworks traffic lights were just across the from my room, however secondary double glassing ensured a peaceful night.
Personnel was charming and very helpful The bed was too small and the mattress was too hard. Flushing the loo was a complicated affair which took 2 to 3 trials. To sum up the hotel was presented as a 4 star but deserved only 2.
staff were very helpful and friendly bedroom did not have on suite, food not that brilliant
Waitress None - though food was not as good as I thought it might be.
Very comfortable clean hotel with plenty of character and many facilities which appeal including a spa. Set in a lovely location. Very friendly and efficient staff. Choice of evening menu over two nights did not appeal and thought a little pricey with supplements so ate out
The staff in the spa were most helpful and the variety of treatments on offer was very varied with excellent products. The room was noisy due to some sort of motor running from 6am through to midnight. The wrong order was received for breakfast on one occassion and three attempts to get a hard boiled egg on another occassion. On the bill we were charged for Wifi which we did not use.
Very warm welcome reception excellent.Food dinner and breakfast lovely None
Nice hotel with good facilities, including swimming pool Room was right next to the road - I mean right next to, people could look in the window! Breakfeast very slow service
Very relaxing for weekend break
Lovely hotel, full of character. Dinner superb, if pricey.
Old English comforts and a very good breakfast
Well I was only there for 1 night but the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful with my checkin and also sorting out taxis for. room was very nice, breakfast excellent. Was not keen that my room faced a road but saying that I slept very well.
A superb experience from first to last. Staff friendly, premises atractive and well kept, room extremely comfortable and well thought out, and setting lovely. We will be there again. None
We found the hotel very comfortable ,very relaxing and the staff were very nice and polite. We enjoyed our stay-be it only short but hope to come back in the near future.
Warm ambience of the hotel, staff very friendly and helpful, room was clean and pleasant decor Rooms not adequately soundproof from either outside or other rooms pillows very hard. Duvets would have been a nicer option.
Reception staff very good upon arrival, quick chech in & out. Food only served after 7, limited availability of soft drinks. Dirty/stained quilt cover.
Very nice hotel.
We only stayed for one night but found the staff very freindly and the hotel comfortable with nice size rooms. The car park is in a coutyard to the side of the hotel but out of sight of the main road, handy for sports cars going to Goodwood.
Olde Worlde charm, competent staff Lack of Electric sockets and trouser press in room.
It was OK. The first rooom they offerede was a ground floor with windows onto parking lot and a large metal emergency exit door and handicapped toilet. Asked for change - they put us in a nice "4 poster" suite which was not as grand as it sounds. Faced onto main street with no TV in bedroom and windows that we could not open. Neither the bar nor the restaurant were open at night due to staff shortages. All in all, ok at best - but at £140 i would have expected better.
the staff, car parking, comfortable mattress, very good pillows Only that we were put on second floor when the hotel was obviously not busy - not something we would complain about but most hotels seem t do this !
Pleasant staff. The bath and shower was old and poorly functioning. Water system especially shower needs updating.
Very friendly service. Ols fasioned and antiquaited hotel added to the attraction. The four poster bed in our suite was a marvelous touch. The usual dribble of water out of the shower as is experienced in most English hotels. However it prompted me to have a bath. I can now say that I've only had three baths in the last 18 years. Lol
The olde worlde atmosphere.
