Pros: We had a warm greeting and were immediately provided delicious fresh cookies and coffee. We only stayed one night and we were out for most of it for a wedding reception. We regret missing breakfast (sorry!).

Pros: Comfortable room and comfortable bed. The breakfast was excellent...my wife really enjoyed the omelet with veggies...which were plentiful. The hostess was very charming.
Cons: Nothing to not like.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is our 4th time staying here....Allyson's place is better then any hotel can ever be. It's quiet, clean and she is a "super-host" I recommend anyone staying in the area to book The Maid's quarters
Cons: Everything was excellent. There is NOTHING WE DID NOT LIKE.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable and quiet. Felt very welcome and was even accommodated for an early breakfast
Cons: Nothing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very pleasent host. But bath room was very narrow. We stayed at a queen bed room which was next to a busy road. Loud AC noise muffled the road noise but we could still hear it. Since I needed to work the next day, I was quite annoyed by that. Comfortable bed. Nothing much around there to walk around. The car parking was across the road. Good to have a parking spot but not very convenient to carry your luggage. Breakfast was made to order. It would have been nice if you are just vacationing but hard for me to wait around for the food. Cooking was just ok.
Cons: Very narrow bathroom and shower.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Extra large room. Nice authentic feel. Lots of thoughtful details (locally made soap, candy here and there...) Allyson was extremely welcoming.
Cons: The bed was too soft for us, but that’s really a personal preference.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: A wonderful breakfast by a wonderful hostess and owner. Location is in an old coal mining town that has seen better days but is trying hard at revitalization. Good restaurants within walking distance of B&B.
Cons: Everything was great.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean quiet and superb host
Cons: Nothing
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The hostess was very welcoming and helpful with information about the town (eating, grocery shopping. brewery). Breakfast was nice . Cooked to order omelet and fresh fruit. My son enjoyed his croissant French Toast.
Cons: Steep stairs up to the maid's suite. Would be OK for able bodied person. I use a cane, so it was challenging. We booked late and this was the only room available. Still a very enjoyable stay.

Pros: This facility was a disaster. On the outside it is nice and looks fairly new. On the inside, it smells like an old sweaty sock from grandmas house with deteriorating floors and walls.

Overview Reviews
This Motel 6 Shartlesville is conveniently located near Hershey Chocolate Park, Roadside America and Kutztown Fairgrounds. Enjoy our Micro-Fridges and free Wi-Fi available in all guest rooms.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable bed and a very nice place. Would definitely stay here again.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: The convenience of the hotel location.
Cons: The shower had hair and either body wash or bodily fluids from previous visitor. The people staying on the first floor were smokers and the smoke came up through into our room. It was really bad as it came up around the bathroom plumbing. It was so bad, it woke us up in the middle of the night. Another issue that made it difficult to sleep, were all the LED lighting outside the French doors into the room. The French doors were covered with white blinds that did not block out any light. The lighting was great for safety reasons but there's needs to be a way to block it out of the room. Finally, the maintenance around the hotel could have definitely been better. The second floor walkway was polluted with dead bugs, old paint chips and enough spider webs for a haunted house.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Old motel, not renovated very well.
Cons: Had good restaurant across the street.
6.3 Good
Pros: Rooms were neat and clean.
Cons: The outside out property was unkempt. Carpet on the outside walkway to our room was in disrepair and dirty with debris. An old sock laid there for the 2 days we were there.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Honestly, the ONLY thing good about this property was it's location because we broke down and the restaurant across the road was FANTASTIC.
Cons: This hotel is run down...the beds are awful, unrotated - very broke down. General maintenance is lacking. The shades on the door and window don't even cover them completely - too much light and no privacy. There is nothing in the riom, but a TINY bar of soap...lucky for us Dollar General was within walking distance. We asked for an additional blanket and pillow - never received them! The housekeeping staff is very unprofessional in their dress, actions and overall behavior. Maintenance is not up to standard - holes in walls. When you bring a problem to the management - they just make excuses. Don't waste your money at this property - go a few more miles for more choices and a great value for your money.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff, rooms, and available table and benches located across the property allowing you to enjoy some time in the sun.
Cons: The only thing I didn't like was that our king bed room was very badly messed up to the point where we would have had to wait until 3:30pm to possibly use it. ( we couldn't physically wait any longer as we had been driving for 8 hours and needed some rest as did our car). We ended up switching to a twin bed room instead which was still just fine in the end. Still grateful the staff was so accommodating.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: The restaurant across the road - HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Cons: Do not waste your money at this property. The property is very rundown - there are a lot of maintenance issues in the rooms that should be addressed and are not. The beds are old - matress is very broke down and not rotated. The shades on the door and window are short - too short - so there is no privacy and there is a tremendous amount of light in the room from the outside - no curtains to keep things dark when trying to sleep. The freezer and fridge were full of ice. The microwave was missing its plate. There were holes in the wall not fixed. The room only had one TINY bar of soap. We asked for an extra blanket and pillow after our first night - told we would get it, but never did. The housekeeping staff is very unprofessional in their dress, in their actions and behavior. They travel around the property in a group and they even have their children with them. When you discuss any issues with management they are full of excuses. Don't waste your money at this property! Go up an exit or two for more choices...
7.5 Good
Pros: Good restaurant close by.
Cons: Blinders on doors have holes
7.5 Good
Pros: Easy on/off Rt 78. Served its purpose as a place to sleep.
Cons: Only coffee was in the AM at the office. There was NO coffee/tea machine available in the room. Typical second rate motel.
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: The room was detailed clean.
Cons: The heat pump fins were filthy. there was no filter so the heater did not work right. (I do maintenance for a living). The batteries in the remote were not good. The box spring and mattress had to be 20+ years old. The parking lot had not been plowed.
7.5 Good
Pros: Nice quiet location. Friendly staff. Convenient to excellent family restaurant.
Cons: Beds were very hard.
1.0 Poor
Cons: Dirty, broken stuff Curtains ng

1.0 Poor
Pros: Close prolixity to needed areas.
Cons: Staff was outside smoking st time of arrival. Room given was not yet cleaned or currently being occupied. Pets all over loud and extremely unclean. Completely dissatisfied with the level of assistance and cleanliness especially stopping my soldier off.
5.5 Okay
Pros: Breakfast was OK. Bananas were past their peak. Buns were stale. Front desk staff at check in was very accommodating and offered to move my room when I said it had not been vacuumed.
Cons: Very noisy property. There seems like there is no soundproofing between rooms. Can hear people walking above, doors slamming, etc. Rug in elevator was absolutely filthy.
5.5 Okay
Cons: Toilet is too small for a grown man. Breakfast items were not replenished daily, bananas available only one day, as well as bagels and donuts.

Cons: Understaffed in the morning, but very friendly.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast and location.

4.5 Okay
Pros: Very Good choices.
Cons: Staff-rude manager. Couldnot pay cash. Manager said"if you don't have a major credit card, I'll ask you too leave." Never been treated this way before. Refrigerator had someones left over supper in it. Asked front desk to remove, but when we came back from supper, the food in refrigerator was still there!!!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: the fact that they allowed my dog was great, the price was excellent and the staff member on duty was not only helpful but very pleasant. Directed us to a restaurant that met our needs.
Cons: Black out curtains were only decorative and did not close leaving us with only shears over the window which did not make us comfortable. It also allowed the room to be lit up with the parking lot lights. The phone was unplugged when we arrived I plugged it in to call for a wake up and it did not work and the red button just flashed constantly so I unplugged it too. The bathroom could have used a grab bar on the inside of the tub as a senior citizen I fear slipping, there was one on the outside only. One of the bed lamps was unplugged so we got that plugged in behind the bed and tried to plug into the outlet on the lamp and it did not work, would not hold the plug. I use a CPA machine so I need a place to plug in my machine. fortunately we were able to get it plugged in behind the bed.

9.0 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast
Cons: Nope
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Compared to the other hotels that were close by, the price was much better here for the same type of room and amenities. Although I was too tired from driving to swim in the heated pool or try the work out room, it was nice to know that I could if I wanted to. The breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausages, Danishes, muffins was very good. I liked the 24 hour coffee, tea in the lobby. I found several local restaurants in the hotel room guest book and believe I chose the best one by using the ratings on the internet. I told the front desk clerk that there were no water bottles in the first floor vending machine, so she pulled one out of fridge at desk for free even though they were in machine on my floor so I thought that was extra nice. My King size bed was comfortable, the desk was great for looking at maps, the shower head was great, the room had a tall mini fridge, microwave and small coffee maker that was not needed since great coffee machine in lobby. Also, there was not traffic noise from 81 in my room. I will use this hotel again if I go back to Pine Grove.
Cons: Nothing that I can think of.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The people that work there
Cons: Nothing

Pros: Everything was very poor condition. The outlet behind the bed was definitely a safety hazard. Our smoke detector didnt work. And our shower was very terrible. The man at the front desk wasnt the best at customer service. I will not be returning and will not suggest it to anyone.
Cons: Everything.
3.3 Mediocre

4.5 Okay
Cons: Unfriendly and unhelpful staff.
6.8 Good

Pros: It was very clean and the location was great.Close to everything yet more rural setting which I like.
Cons: No it was a great experience .I had stayed there about 4 years ago and I would stay there again
7.0 Good
Pros: The hotel was very outdated. There was only a very small stand up shower. The rugs and bedding looked like it was from 1970. I just didn't feel as though it was worth the amount I paid for one night which was $133.
Cons: The decor, bathroom was tiny, only a stand up shower. Room was very expensive considering the quality. he rugs and bedding looked like it was from 1970. Serious upgrade is needed.

Cons: The place was dirty and not taken care of at all
6.0 Good
Pros: It was very clean and roomy. The tub was a decent size.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Quite..excellent parking...easy on off from Rt.81 family owned very friendly....no pets allowed..we know people like their pets...we respect that....but there are also travelers that like the idea that they are staying in a location that didn't have animals running around in there room ( no matter how clean it is)

6.3 Good
Pros: staff was nice.
Cons: the Grout in the bathroom floor was BLACK and someones 7-11 slurpie cup was left in the room. Breakfast was bad. the coffee must have been made using the local water and had a terrible taste. i literally puked after drinking it. the locals may be used to it but i suggest using "spring water" when you make coffee. food selection was poor
9.5 Excellent
Cons: I was charged twice for iur stay
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location - was close proximity to gas stations and food. Room was comfortable.
Cons: Room was smaller than visually pictured on line. Breakfast was not to our liking; no hot selections. Ate elsewhere after checking out.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were all very friendly, accommodating, and helpful.
Cons: It needs updating, particularly in the bathrooms. I think the staff do their best to clean and maintain things, but there has been definite water leakage and there's a lot of excessive caulking and some mold.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: bike friendly!
Cons: breakfast was a little sad. but plenty of hot coffee from 5am untill we left.
4.3 Okay
Pros: The bed was nice?
Cons: Not only did they charge a $250 deposit due to my boyfriend paying cash on top of the $160.95 (all paid in cash), they accused him of smoking in the room and KEPT the deposit, he doesn’t even smoke, AND THEY CHARGED MY DEBIT CARD $160.95! I am livid for multiple reasons the big ones being the room was used for less than 18 hrs ($160.95 paid in cash) and I paid for 48 hours (the cash plus the fraudulent charge on my debit card!) plus they kept the deposit!!! This is absolutely unacceptable and I will make sure to leave this review on every review outlet if this is not fixed ASAP. The WiFi sucked, the elevators are slow, the front desk staff was unpleasant and our AC didn’t work well at all!!! I am extremely heat sensitive after a recent heatstroke which was the reason for our stay, as we were outdoors all day and I was fading fast and it wasn’t worth it at all!!! I would rather risk another heat related incident than deal with this hotel ever again!!!
6.3 Good
Pros: A/C in room workied
Cons: Lobby and hallways very hot. Room are old and dated.
7.0 Good
Pros: Room size
Cons: No AC in the common areas
4.3 Okay
Pros: Leaving
Cons: You have to park all the way across the street and lug your belongings from there. Hotel is dated and not overly clean. Walls and ceilings are thin you could hear everything. It isn't in a great area either someone wiggled the door handle like they were trying to come in and was pushing on the door to access other room, the desk clerk said no one was staying in that room. Lots of street noise. This is not worth $150 a night maybe when it was updated in the 90s but not now. Stay at the holiday in Express only 15 minutes away from this place.
4.5 Okay
Pros: No the eggs were dry and the bed was not clean and there was dirty underwear left in the room when we got there.
Cons: Everything. The walk to the
9.3 Excellent
Pros: To be honest, traveling on vacation we weren't impressed with this downtown location and hard to spot entryway, which had no signage from the street. BUT the staff was wonderful and more than made up for the booking glitch that we learned about when we found our way inside. Apparently our room was already taken, so they gave us a better room for the same price. Ended well. ;-)

Pros: All of the staff at the hotel and restaurant were very friendly.
Cons: It is sad to say that this once quaint property was not well maintained and the room was not as clean as one would expect. The bathroom was not properly stocked.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: It was a good location for us. The room wasn’t awful but definitely not what I would consider a 2 1/2 star hotel.
Cons: It was very dated. Definitely in need of some updates. There was facia and gutter missing. Lots of broken shingles in the parking lot. The hallways smelled like smoke. The dining room floor was dirty. The breakfast area was dingy. Everything was dusty!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: This is an older, out-dated hotel; however, my room was clean, which is what matters to me more than anything else -- sheets, bathroom, etc. NO bugs or soiled sheets. I was pleasantly surprised and very pleased. I would stay here again.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Good breakfast
Cons: The rooms did not appear to have been vacuumed and had a stale somewhat damp smell to them. Also not sure if the sheets had been changed.

3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Staff nice
Cons: Everything wrong name wrong location pictures of the inside of the hotel where not the hotel at all used coffee was still in the coffee pot. Horrible allow dogs but no place for dogs to go potty
5.0 Okay
Pros: Location to the highway and the cost, (before we saw the room.)
Cons: The motel had no sign, only an econo lodge sign. The carpet was stained to the point I wouldn't walk in bare feet. The sheets were pilled. The tub drain rim was all rust. The rubber drain plug was rusty and yellow stained. The tv worked eventually (1980's vintage). Not even worth the $80.00 plus price. After experiencing the room we skipped the breakfast as were not sure if the same standards for the room were used in food prep and handling.
6.8 Good
Pros: The desk clerk was very courteous and knew what she was doing. The parking was adequate.
Cons: The bathroom tub could have been cleaner. The top of the water chamber on the toilet didn't match the bottom so there was no seal. One could see around the top and down into the water chamber. The knob to adjust the heat had been worn and couldn't be adjusted. Breakfast was said to be served from 6:30 to 9:30 am. Since the door to the office/breakfast area was not even unlocked by 6:40 am, we left without eating breakfast.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Location was good
Cons: Drain was clogged in shower
5.8 Okay
Pros: The staff here are super nice. Helpful.
Cons: This place is very old and rundown. Grungy looking, moldy bathrooms, light fixtures that didn't work, tvs from the 80s, running toilets, damp old smelling, rusty water, just yuck.

3.8 Mediocre
Cons: I called the property twice to advise of late arrival/check in. They did not understand my request and ultimately hung up on me. The room smelled bad and the bed was horribly creaky
5.8 Okay

3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing. Overpriced. Wi-Fi did not work and the staff told me sometimes it works and it doesn't. For almost $90 a night I expect more than that.
Cons: Everything. Overpriced. Unhelpful staff. Close to loud traffic. And Wi-Fi that let cutting out. I asked for a wake up call at 6:30 am and they give me the wake up call at 9:30 pm when I had just falling asleep.
