Breakfast was very good, with a nice selection of cheeses, hams and fruits. Room service was very helpful.
Reception staff were friendly and helpful. Information regarding restaurant and room service unclear, would have liked to use both but never discovered if open/available. Front bedrooms noisy due to traffic.
The Hotel Staff were very nice and the room I had was excellent, in both cleanliness and facilities. I experienced no problems with parking (public parkings available) and enjoyed the fact to do so for only 10 chf per day (tickets available at reception). All in all a very positive experience. Definitely recommendable.
This is a reasonably priced hotel with welcoming and helpful staff. They offer an excellent breakfast and comfortable rooms. We would certainly consider staying here again. Unfortunately the hotel frontage is on the main thoroughfare for traffic passing through the town. Traffic noise at night is a bit of the problem.
The hotel is directly opposite the cathedral, who's clock chimes every quarter of an hour all through the night. Even with the windows closed, there was enough noise to keep me awake until 4:30 am
Good breakfast as for the simple buffet. Good place in city center. Smell in our room was not so nice. As we stayed on Fri night, it was quite noisy outside around 4am when the clubs closed.
location to noisy because of the night club located just outside of our window.Didn,t get much sleep.
Nice location, great staff and nice rooms. Not enough Parkingplace
Good value for a comfortable, clean hotel in the old town - easy to get to from the station (either 5 minutes by bus or a 10 minute walk). Fribourg is a good central location for exploring western Switzerland, being only 20 mins. from Bern and 40 mins. from Lausanne by train. Really clean, with comfortable beds, excellent sound-proofing (I heard nothing from other rooms) and really friendly, helpful staff. Breakfast also very good. A minor issue: no air con in the rooms - this did not affect me but might be an issue for some people in the summer.
No temperature control for the room heating
Location is right next to the old town. Staff is friendly and helpful. Room was large and with a great view from the top floor. We asked for and were given a quiet room. The restaurant is closed on weekends, as are most in the town.
A bit old furniture, expensive wifi (!), paid parking (if you are lucky and park in front of the hotel then 10 CHF per day but if not, you have to park in a double expensive public parking in the underground garage.
we are satisfied with every thing of the hotel, especially the splendid breakfast.
Great location - next to Fribourg Centre, train station, city center and old town. Great breakfast. Good/friendly staff to help you. The room was small and space was limited (what do you expect though in EU)
Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were spacious and clean. breakfast was good. Hotel is located next to one nightclub and above another. noise wasn't too bad but may cause problems for light sleepers. Parking was secure but the card system had problems when we stayed meaning that we couldn't get out and missed a pre-arranged event. Paying to park at a hotel I feel is inappropriate and designed to wring as much money out of you as possible. At least they could hide it in amongst the room charge if they need the money that badly.
Very close to the centre of town and train station which was a plus
Lack of air conditioning is unacceptable
The convenience of its location close to the railway station & shopping centre, - we were using public transport, and only staying one night. The hotel was generally rather shabby & "worse for wear" - in need of refurbishment. Fortunately the Irish Pub next door was quiet - make sure you get a room on the opposite side, overlooking the river.
The reception staff were very helpful and friendly. The bar / restaurant service was very good. The food was not overly exciting, but I could say that about all of the Swiss restaurants we ate in. The village is only very small but there is awesome countryside around for those who enjoy walking and the outdoors. All the local people said Bonjour as you walked around. Very relaxing.
nice breakfast, direct underground access to the spa. internet was expensive to use.
I liked the excellent professional skills of the Deputy Director and his ability in solving problems.
Very close the Gruyere historical center and the the cheese production show room (5 min on foot to both). The breakfast was good: fresh food, good coffee. I think the rate is too high for this hotel. One is only paying for the location. I paid a price of a good 4* hotel, but this one is a medium 3*.The room is clean but feels old and very small. There is not enough light in the room - it's very dark.
Great locationVery peaceful
The place and breakfast Nothing
Easy access to the town of Gruyere, peaceful position.
We were there during the "volcanic ash" disaster and due to this, no one else was there. We were treated so well, even got an upgrade as a gift. The staff was so friendly and accommodating and the breakfast was wonderful! Great views of the valley below from our room.
Proximity to town/parking availability. Beds comfortable. Room had safe and minibar which I appreciate. Breakfast fine--typical swiss breakfast of meats/cheeses/breads/cereal/fruit/juice Shower. Our room had no ability to moderate temperature as the faucet only had a single handle regulate volume. This tended to be on the colder side. Also reading other reviews prior, I concur the side mounts (at least for shower head) is poorly placed and made a significant mess with water outside the tub. This is quite odd considering the sink has a simlar plumbing but does have separate hot/cold. For a short stay, I could deal with this but would not want this for a longer stay. View from room provided little privacy as looked out on driveway and could hear/see pedestrians walking by. Also rooms are very dimly lit, particularly with curtains closed.
Landscape, silence, relaxing place, pleasant atmosphere
The hotel was charming and had the most beautiful views of the pre-alps, meadows, and herds of deer, cows, and goats. The continental breakfast was also lovely - try the hot chocolate! We booked a double room with a double bed and when we arrived they had pushed two twin beds together. The other couples we were staying with had normal double beds. It really put a damper on our anniversary.
Very quaint, simple hotel with friendly staff Slightly outside of town (2 min walk) and there are plenty of cuter hotels in town.
The location in the center of Fribourg is very nice. The reception was friendly. A hotel with a disco downstairs is not the ideal combination, certainly not on a Friday evening. There is a lot of noise from downstairs and from the street.
The kitchenette appliances were good. The room had a lot storage space. The location was good, not too far from the rail station. The staff were friendly but spoke only French, so communication was not easy. The kitchenette had no utensils, so the good appliances were almost useless. Cleaning was not done all days.
Hotel was very good for the price we paid. Only our room was located at the front side on the first floor. We had a lot of noice from the street. It was not possible to sleep with the window open.
location is good, room is good the oven and stove is not working, and there isn't any utensils other than a kettle and 2 cups and saucer and teaspoon
nice and clean rooms there was no cot bed available
Everything is quite comfortable, very calm, clean, the parking place is close to the hotel.
Large room. Excellent location. It was advertised as having wiFi. But we did not know that we needed a code . When we got back to our room at 10 PM, the front desk was not staffed.
Very centrally located. Nice and clean. Rooms on the (pedestrian) street may be a bit noisy in the evening if Fribourg wins a sport match!
location, cleaniness, frinedly staff (though they could only communicate in French)
Good location. A bit noisy from the street.
I was with my male colleague and we share the room, but the beds where together (It was a double bed). so its good to put an option on the website to chose which kind of room we want, double room with separate beds or double room with big bed (2 bed together).
I asked why the air conditioning wasn't working. I was told it was ok only to find out that they didn't have air con! In temperatures of 30 degrees plus and in a city, this would have been a prerequisite
Staff attentive, quite comfortable rooms. It's a long walk to the center of town.
Almost everything; the welcome fromthe staff, the position, the building and its decor, the room were all wonderful. We also had a beautiful meal there in the evening with imaginatively cooked local products and excellent wine list. we would love to go again sometime. The weather!!!!!!!!!!!
I was close to the business I had to do in town. For the price, this hotel needs to be updated.
I was woken up at 01,15 by the front desk for a phonecall which was not for me. I am sure they have a names list of all guest, so this mistake should not happen. Although my room was next to the reception/bar and it was very noisy.
Easy to find from the motorway, easy to get to centre of old Fribourg. Carpets in the room were quite stained, stair carpets worn out
This hotel had beautiful views overlooking the Lac du Gruyere with vistas of mountains. The food was excellent, and the staff most accomodaing, even the the extent of serving us breakfast half an hour early (so we could make our flight out of Geneva). Some initial language difficulties (French) were soon overcome. Highly recommended
View (from lakeside room - with balcony) - fantastic. Food excellent. Staff could not have been more helpful. On edge of Alps - very convenient for touring. Room comfortable, but not luxurious for price. No iron, tea making facilities, CD/DVD as one would expect at this price. But WiFi free
Could use a fan or a/c unit in rooms during the summer months! Breakfast was a bit weak, thought it would be better.
The view over the lake in the morning was lovely. The checkin procedure was chaotic. The hotel do not reserve tables in their restaurant for guests and they get very busy - call to reserve if you intend to eat. Room was very basic, bathroom (showerroom v. small). Staff all had something better to do than attend to us.
The location is amazing, one of the most beautiful landscapes I have ever seen in my life - near the lake of Gruyeres and surrounded by the Swiss mountains. Get a room with the view to the lake to fully enjoy it, it costs 20 CHF more, but is worth. At about 7km from Gruyeres it's a good place for trips in the area. We stayed two nights, the first one we ate at the 'restaurant gastronomique' which was excellent, the second evening at the brasserie which was also very good. There is a difference between the location and restaurants which fully justify the price and the rest. The rooms are equipped at the basic level, and the furniture is not very new. There is no elevator, so you need to carry your luggage at the first floor. Breakfast is quite basic (not a buffet) in contrast with the dinner.
Nice location, good restaurant, poor prişce quality for the hotel room. Hotel service was friendly Such location, view and food deserves a better quality hotel room
beautiful view of lac gruyeres no sheets on the bed just a feather bed comforter
The view from the lake view rooms is wonderful. The rooms, although simple and old fashioned, they are very clean and the beds are comfortable. The gourmet restaurant was superb. The rooms need updating really. Breakfast could have more fresh products like fruit and yoghurt
Location and views of lake are amazing. Would have like to have a menu available in English.
Friendly personal with every time extra service possible, great breakfast and dinner !
no complication, kind, friendly with pets
Friendly atmosphere, No
excellent value for money. The room was large and comfortable. The meals were excellent. The reception area was unattended and there was no bell to ring to or notice to tell you to go to the bar for service. The reception area was small and dark so gave a bad first impression of an otherwise very good hotel.
Everyone is so kind, room very clean, large and confortable. Restaurant is modern and brandly renewed. Food was excellent, real thai food made by a thai cook. Service is excellent. Family welcomed.
It is located in the heart of the village and near by several restaurants, supermarket and bars. The hotel was run by one or two staffs at a time to perform there works at the reception counter and restaurant so they have to go back and forth between two places which caused some delay in checking out
convenient, staff was friendly, breakfast buffet was nice very warm in rooms-and room location was loud
Comfortable, spacious, clean & pleasant. Very little!
bien au centre
Very nice personel, quite cheap compared to other hotels in the region, not far from village centre
Very friendly and helpful staff with nice extras in the room of a personalised welcome letter, sweets and gift. Located in a lovely historic town. The road was noisy as well as the hotel lift during the night.
The hotel and room had the perfect atmosphere for the medieval town. The views from the room were magnificent. The staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly. We really enjoyed our stay! I would definitely recommend this hotel. There was nothing we were not satisfied with.
