We liked the proactive way the Front Office manager handled our botched pick up from the station. We did not like the gloomy club lounge, poor F&B presentations in the lounge and some over familiar staff.
The weather and the food was quite good quality. Lack of choice of dining areas, expensive wine, even local S.African wines. Expensive transfer from airport to hotel, which did not arrive on time.
Currently extensive building work within the building which is noisy from early morning.
the rooms were amazing and clean....great value for money....and the staff were 5 star class!!
The hotel certainly deserves the 5 stars status it has. We enjoyed our stay. The staff were always on hand to assist when we required help.
Good sized room, clean, well located.
Very central, fancy and with nice staff.
Friendly staff, well located. Ideal for business travelers. Internet slow !!
Good location, nice room and bathroom, good (secure) parking facilities
Great location, walking distance to Union Building and Church Square. Room very comfortable.
Too much noise in the surroundings... Cars, people,... You could still hear it at the sixth floor. No wake up calls.. As requested. They forgot.. Or were too busy 3 /4 mornings. The iron didn't work. Not bad hotel but not excellent.
The porter was very friendly and assisted me to my room, where he proceeded to provide me with information about the T.V.remotes,switched on my aircon and explained how it worked. The parking is also really secure.
I have enjoyed the calmness of the place and food served.
Ease if access to the Eye Institute. Efficient service from booking on line to driving out. No, but I did not use the breakfast facilities so cannot really comment on that
Close to the stadium and nightlife, safe, functional. Basically did exactly what it said on the tin. Rooms a touch grimy, bathrooms in particular not that great. Could do with a door rather than a plastic screen. Expensive for what it was but that's the Lions tour being there
Nothing. I was charged over 800 rands per night whereas all other guests were paying less the 250. Where as I paid this kind of money, one could hardly turn in a washroom of a toilet, with a hand wash basin and shower whose total area was only 2 sq feet. Total bedroom area was 7x7 sq ft! The price I was made to pay was unreasonbly too high for the available facilites at the hotel. The bed room was too small. The washroom was too small Howvever, the services in the dining were good.
Only one major assest - location. Pre-arrival coomunication was good. Self classified as a premier budget but does not live up to expecttations. Rooms very small and bathrooms even smaller. What I view as unjustified cancellation charges as I had to move after 1 night and checked out first thing next morng and was charged for another night. Over priced when compared to others which for a small premium gave a higher grade accomodation in the area and usual hotel policies and food quality.
Fair price for quality. However, keep in mind the room size is very very small. Information about turism on the reception could be better.
The hotel was fine. The rooms were small .However the staff was friendly. They need to improve on the restaurant as same menu repeats. Breakfast was nice. Recommended for budget travellers only.
Rooms small but comfortable. Located reasonably close to eating / drinking areas and to Loftus Versfeld stadium. Security and organisation of transport (taxis / airport shuttles) was adequate. View from room in top floor of hotel was relatively impressive (not that Pretoria is very panoramic). Bar was cheap. Bathrooms were very small. Breakfast menu was limited. Provision of safes (in rooms and at reception) was not comprehensive. Hotel could do more with its outdoor areas / patios - bar has no windows and restaurant is relatively dark too.
Very close the the city and to the Union Buildings, with a gret view of both from the higher floors. Rather small bathroom, but clean.
The location of the hotel was the only good thing about it....but for the same price or less we could have had better places to stay. The rooms are very small and not well maintained at all.
the service from staff
Arcadia gives you an authentic sense of Pretoria; it is not a generic hotel. Simple and basic but just the ticket for traveling alone on business. The complicated parking ritual. (This is an artifact of Pretoria traffic though, not so much the hotel's fault.)
Hospitality and and kindness of staff are very high; also transport services to customers are OK.
the staff- each one of them was very friendly. also, good security and parking facility the bath tub was not draining well; water ponded up while we showered. the tv did not appear to work
Safe, Clean and real value for money. Maybe a better breakfast variety? But it was not bad!
nothing in particular, although internet access available , but very slow connection. Breakfast buffet was very limited and cooked items were not appetising. Refreshments in room (tea/coffee/milk) were not adequate.
very good gym facilities and parking. most of staff were good, however friends booked minibus to take us to town one night and to stadium next day price was increased for shorter journey and when asked why staff member was very arrogant and rude and said " well you can afford it " which we thought was disgusting.
The staff friendliness The bathrooms overall condition was very poor, dirt in corners, shower curtains dirty, very very tiny rooms as compaired to what was shown on the website. This was what we actually booked for and not what we got.
I enjoyed the English breakfast, however tables are not cleaned properly in the dining when there are many guests waiting to be seated for breakfast. Things like crumbles on the tables, sugaer etc were visible on the tables. The shower curtain was not appealing or clean. There was too much noise from outside, cars etc from the street
It was quite comfortable and in a good position, near the train station and other facilities
