Pros: Very nice and helpful hosts, great breakfast, just the hot shower you need after visiting Corcovado, 2-hour-laundry-service for only 9 dollars and very close to the car-rental.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were very welcoming and helped us resolve questions and issues in our planning our visit to the Corcovado area. The house and the garden are very attractive
9.6 Excellent
Pros: A friendly welcoming couple, wonderful homemade breakfast, beautiful place and garden and a bunch of friendly dogs and cats
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was delicious. I didn't eat the cake so Hélène wrapped it up for me to take. I loved the animals!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! The room was so comfy after a 3 day trip to corcovado national park. Breakfast is so delicious! The hosts are incredibly friendly- even dropped us to the bus station when we were leaving. The shower was really good and hot and AC worked well. Loved staying here and all of their animals!
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely fabulous- Philippe and Helene went over and above to make us feel welcome. The homemade breakfast was the best we had during our two week trip!! (I am coeliac and they made an incredible gluten free cake for me) An extra bonus was their lovely dogs and cats, and the beautiful garden on the property. Highly recommended before or after a trip to Corcovado to rejuvenate, or just to explore Puerto Jimenez and the area around it!
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful breakfasts in French style, and varied each day. Freshly made fruit smoothies daily were delightful, and freshly brewed coffee as well.
Cons: Nothing. It was a pleasant homestay atmosphere and the hosts Phillipe and Helene went out of their way to make my stay special. I am very grateful for their extra help at various times. NB: If Phillipe could send me his email address I will send him some photos. My email is frogpole@tpg.com.au Thank you.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great friendly enthusiastic hosts, lovely house. There is a separate bathroom for the guests, next to your room with a/c. They have several pets, which are sweet and harmless. I chose this place based on the reviews and I must say it is really true, BEST BREAKFAST OF COSTA RICA. Homemade bread, fruit, freshly made juice, cakes, ... If you go to puerto Jimenez, stay here!
Cons: Nothing!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lapa Rios is just paradise on earth. We can't even describe how wonderful our stay at the lodge was. From your arrival to your departure, you don't have to worry about anything, just enjoy the peace and nature at Lapa Rios. The staff is always kind and helps you out with any kind of wish you have. Thank you so much to all of you, you made our stay just magical! We did have a picnic at the beach, which you can't describe as a picnic, more than a private lunch at the beach with your own chairs, freshly made food and great juices. The coffee delivery in the morning was also a highlight for us, I mean, who doesn't like to drink a coffee in your bed and see the sun rise over the ocean. It's just paradise and you don't want to go back to reality after you've stayed at this place. Not only the luxury of this place, but also their way of sustaining nature and trying to keep the lodge as eco friendly as you possibly can is just another point why Lapa Rios Lodge is the best place where you can stay in Costa Rica. There's nothing more to say about this overwhelming place on earth, just go there and see it for yourself.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Thank you sooo much amazing

Pros: Perfect place to unwind and watch the wildlife!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It’s an amazing place to stay, like it came from a fairytale book!!..So pretty, lots of trails to walk and a beautiful bar and restaurant on site
Cons: The location within the property is gorgeous but it’s about 35 minutes drive to Puerto Jiménez. Road into the lodge is a little rough, but well worth the journey
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The lodge was a pleasant surprise located on the edge of the National Park. The staff was friendly, tours were good, food was great, lots of squirrel monkeys and toucans, lots of walking trails on property, the outdoor bathrooms were awesome and very unique. Overall a gem, away from all tourists in the north. Also the roads heading south are some of the best we have traveled on in CR.
Cons: The heat and high humidity may be a bit much for some travelers as there is no A/C,
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a must in costa rice if you come for the nature of this beautifull country. We took the 3 tours with heico, bird watching, night walk, and the trip to corcovado natural park, we will remember this place forever. Ah, and the restaurant, this is almost michelin star quality, it seems a high price, but it is worth it.
5.8 Okay
Cons: Showed up to lodge and was very disappointed by the setting. Pictures make it look more like a resort and less like hits in the jungle. After the initial shock the location grew on us, but I don't think we ever got used to using the restroom outside the hut and having lizards and spiders around all the time. The staff was excellent, the complimentary breakfast was very good, but the dinners and drinks were over priced. We paid $36usd for two quartered chicken dinners. I can go to a steakhouse stateside and get better value for a meal.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This had to be the favourite place out of our two week trip. On the approach from La Palma the terrain looked rather spoiled and deforested, but don’t be put off, the grounds of the lodge are in the forest proper and civilisation seems miles away. The spacious bungalow we had was brilliantly and artistically designed. Much more solid than the photos on-line suggest, with beautiful polished floors, comfy beds, and also properly bug screened walls . We had monkeys playing in the trees right outside and I can’t recommend it enough compared with other places we stayed at. Waking up to the sounds of nature was just magic. The day trip into Corcovado was also well worth it, the guide was great, the transit on the tractor trailer fun, and the experience unforgettable. It isn’t as hard as one might expect and within the capability of anyone who can deal with a bit of mud and a few steep slopes.
Cons: The only minus points were that the food choice at dinner was a bit limited and whilst the rooms have electricity, there was no fridge in ours.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing location with monkeys, toucans, birds and other wild animals right outside your bungalow and across the property. Great walking trails and canopy look out. The staff were very attentive and I’m so thankful for their responsiveness to my dietary requirements. Delicious food and great tours available from the property.
Cons: N/A

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Waleska is a great host! We loved the little outside kitchen, where we prepared some of our meals. The landscaping on the property is lovely.
Cons: I'm not a big AC person, but my friend would have liked AC.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Waleska's Place is absolutely magical for anyone seeking an authentic Costa Rican experience. Right on an amazing and deserted beach, perfect for swimming, the vegetation and wildlife amazed us. She has built an out of the way paradise seemingly out of nothing. Walking trails through a mix of fruit trees and tropical jungle, Scarlett macaws screaming and fighting all over the property, lizards running everywhere, our daughter was in heaven! If you are a resort person looking for room service and Egyptian cotton sheets, you obviously would b in the wrong place. If you have come to CR to know the real 'pura vida' then I can't imagine you could do better than what we found here. We won't forget it!
Cons: Perhaps a second fan for the bottom floor. We had to move it back and forth several times which could have been avoided. No big deal though.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: We stayed for 1 night. Amazing location right on the beachfront. Very quite with miles of beach all to ourselves. Right outside our tent we could see lots of parrots feeding and we could here howler monkeys Great traditional breakfast
Cons: Very basic, Bathroom very short walk away. A kettle would be nice tho.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: We were delighted with our stay in Waleska's large platform tent with comfortable bed and lovely terrace looking out to the sea. Simple but absolutely all that you need! Nearby bathrooms were spotless, breakfast excellent and plentiful, and wildlife was all around us. Only 100 meters barefoot walk to the nearly isolated beach, we loved this place!
Cons: Wifi was weak at times, but not a major issue. For some people, the distance from town (6 km) may be off-putting, but the road is mostly good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Waleska was a perfect host and the location could not be better. There are only two Restaurants in walking distance so bring your own ingredients if you want to Cook. The kitchens are well equipped. Best Part of our Trip to Costa Rica!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: For bird watchers....the scarlet macaws put on an amazing show. Next door to a great restaurant and pool. Loved Waleskas!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Place is directly on the beach. The owner is nice and helpful, gives you direction, helps find a tour if you're looking for one. Not far from the pear where you can go whale watching from.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Liked the outdoor kitchen, the beautiful grounds, the proximity to the beach.
Cons: The metal roof made it very uncomfortably hot to sit under at mealtimes. The stairs leading to the bedroom were very high which made it difficult to get up and down. Also disappointed that there was no shaded area to sit on the beach. It was a gorgeous beach, but we had to carry chairs to it. And we specifically came here for a beach vacation to swim, and the waves were too strong to be able to.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Friendly host. Excellent location next to beach. Quirky round cabin with upstairs bedroom & outdoor(covered) kitchen/dining area. Cabins surrounded by natural planting to provide seclusion. Lots of wildlife (incl macaws & howler monkeys).
Cons: Lack of utensils & workspace in kitchen area. Only had cold water everywhere. Stairs up to bedroom could be made a little more visible as they are all different sizes & heights.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Incredible location as near to the beach as you can be, as far from town as a vehicle can take you. This gem allowed us to wind down after a busy week travelling, to relax and enjoy the beaches. We had rented out two tents (both Prospector type tents set up on wooden platforms with porches, about 50 cms off the ground) and a cottage (we were a party of 7). We arranged for breakfast every morning, and it was delicious and copious ! The owner is friendly, attentive and knowledgeable, and gave very good advice considering we were travelling with kids in a wide age range (7 thru tweens). The kids got a kick out of hearing howler monkeys, watching hummingbirds, geckos, lizards, all from the tents' porches. We also did laundry and managed to pretty much dry it all during a sunny morning.
Cons: Waze (driving application) threw us off and we overshot. The road access involves a potholed gravel road, a one-lane bridge over a reek with a resident crocodile (no worries - it sticks to it, the cows don't even seem nervous), and about 1 km driving on a sandy track. You really feel far away from the world.

Pros: Just unbelievable!!! Location was paradise - Empty beach, soft and clear water. Perfect place to unwind and enjoy nature. There were scarlet McCaws and monkeys outside our room every day, and a lovely resident dog. There were even dolphins and sting ray visible from the beach. Most of the time we were simply stunned as to the beauty of the area. He fact that everything is sustainable makes it even better. It is our dream to come back!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Punta Preciosa is a very exceptional place, where you can enjoy Costa Rica's nature and a completely empty beatiful beach. The hosts were very nice and helpful. Absolutely recommend this place, we loved it!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Thanks to Gilles an Pascal for the wonderful and relaxed stay in your little paradise. The house is very beautiful and very close to the great playa platanares. Perfect hidden place at the end of the world. Gilles prepares a very good breakfast and dinner for us. We hope to come back one more time.......... Pura Vida Melanie and Armin
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very beautiful, spacious, clean and comfortable room with a deck (and hammock) overlooking the ocean. Our hosts were very welcoming, accommodating, and sure to provide us privacy in this shared solar powered house. The house has very pretty wood detail and is open to the warm summer air. The fish dinner was amazing and the breakfasts were very good. We really enjoyed use of the kayaks and swimming from the very private and meticulously groomed beach. We also dined at the nearby Iguana Lodge, recommended by our hosts, which has delicious sangria! The hottest place we stayed during our late January visit to Costa Rica - a great place to go for enjoying the beach!

Pros: We enjoyed everything about our stay at Katia’s home. The atmosphere there is amazing, we actually felt like home instantly. Really quiet, clean and comfy home, room, bathroom and common places. It’s like your home and family. We loved the fact that you can see birds in the garden. Chilling by the pool was very nice.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very good location, very cleaned, right in the center of Puerto Jiménez, very good restaurant in front
Cons: Nothing
6.3 Good
Pros: Good location in Puerto Jimenez, the room was clean, and the bathroom was nice. The owner Katya was very kind. There is a bakery behind the block which is great for breakfast.
Cons: Don't choose that place for the pool: it looks nothing like the picture: there are nets and stuff all over it, the filtration system was not running when we went and the water looked dirty. Regarding the room, the AC took forever to run and the bed was uncomfortable. Even though the woman who lives here was great, her partner (we assumed) was really obnoxious, and a lady part of the staff was pretty unpleasant.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The couple who run the Inn (new owners) have many years experience in the area, are very friendly & helpful!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Right opposite collectivo stop so very convenient. Katia the owner was very welcoming and helped us book our flights to san Jose and then La Fortuna- she called head office in San Jose and seemed to know people there . She had been in the tourist hospitality business for a long time and knows everyone . Please note there is no breakfast but food Soda Joanna across the road was cheap and tasty . Katia also recommended a pizza pkace for dinner and a great laundry for our washing . We were there when the earthquake of 6.2 magnitude struck and Katia was very Calm and reassuring. Thanks
Cons: Nothing in particular
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Clean and comfortable place, set in a lovely garden, right next to the bus station. The owners are friendly and have lots of experience and tips to share.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner, Katya, was so kind and welcoming. She helped guide me to excursions that I wanted to do and went above and beyond. When I walked into the room i had a surprise on my bed made of flowers and leaves that had a kind message. I was so surprised. The room was so clean. I felt very comfortable. I would highly recommend this inn to anyone traveling to the area. I’d like to come back with my boys one day for sure!
Cons: Everything was perfect. There was nothing I didn’t like.

Cons: An outside dining area (patio or terrace/balcony) would be nice.

Cons: Wifi often down

Pros: Place was perfect, owner greeted and let us in, while giving lots of useful tips for our hike in Corcovado. Bed was comfortable, warm water in shower was a nice surprise. Perfect value for money.
4.6 Okay
Pros: New Floor was very Clean
Cons: Sewer Stink was so very BAD, we Couldn't stay in Bathroom for any length of Time!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Hot shower, safe and secure and close to town. The owner is really welcoming and helpful. Good starting point for booking tours etc. We stayed for a couple of days before heading to nearby Playa Preciosa.
Cons: No outside space, but it was still very nice.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The place is really an appartment, so it has all the amenities, it is supplied with kitchen utensils, glassware, etc. A full bathroom upstairs and a small toilet room downstairs.
Cons: This is an appartment, but a basic one and it needs a little sprucing up, it's not a looker. But it was clean enough, except for some very small ants, but it was not that big a deal if you don't leave anything out.

7.9 Good
Pros: The quietness, the gardens and the wildlife.
Cons: Surf too rough to swim and there was no way to snorkel on the reef, too dangerous.
5.4 Okay
Pros: View, helpful staff.
Cons: TOO HOT!!! I got sick from the kitchen food. I left one day early burning in fever, vomiting and with diarrhea. I end up in the hospital with IV and cut my trip short to return to the USA. As soon as we arrived we heard of another guest with similar symptoms and consequences. What a horrible vacation!!! Yes, the view is nice and the front desk staff, the tour guide and the girl @ the restaurant are very nice.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff, especially Pamela, was amazing. The food was fresh and tasty, property well maintained and the rooms were super clean! I prefer a softer bed but aside from that our stay was better than we imagined!
Cons: My preference is a softer bed.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great unique property with lots of neat wildlife finds. Great breakfast and very nice room. Loved the yoga area. Staff member that checked us in was super nice and walked us all around the property.
Cons: We arrived at night and road on the way in was not great. could have been better signage directing us. There was not many guests at all, which was nice but the whole time we were in the pool the staff was doing yardwork around us.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, you can feel the connection with the nature, the pool and the facilities are amazing and the staff were very helpful and friendly, great costumer experience!
Cons: To have to leave and get back to work in the city.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The lodge is located right in the middle of the jungle and yet just a few steps away from the beach. We were given an upgrade to a cabin which was quite nice, very spacious. It was rustic and simple, but very clean and comfortable, and it really provided a feeling of being immersed in the jungle. The pool was lovely and very well framed by trees and the yoga pavilion. The staff was really wonderful.
Cons: The access is rough - a bumpy 4-km dirt road -, but that's to be expected in the Osa, the real issue is that there are absolutely no signs to the lodge neither in Puerto Jiménez nor along the way, the GPS was acting up and I ended up having to call the lodge to get info (FYI: first right after the airport's airstrip, onto the dirt road). I was disappointed by the lack of wildlife in the lodge, we were right in the middle of the jungle but we didn't see or hear many animals (we saw much more in less wild regions of Costa Rica), I think it might have to do with the two big dogs belonging to the lodge's owner, not that they bothered me, they were sweet dogs, but they are very big and may scare away some animals. At night, there isn't any light around the lodge, just some candles, only the two main buildings have light, but the paths between them don't, a torch is recommended. The lodge's restaurant is very pricey and the food isn't that good, there is much better, and cheaper, in Puerto Jiménez.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Helpful staff helped us book a dolphin watch and snorkeling tour. Room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The kitchen has plenty of pots, pans, bowls, etc to make yourself a meal.
Cons: No hot water, but it is hot enough outside to not be needed.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Corcovado Wild Hostel is a nice and clean place! It is the perfect starting point for tours to Corcovado NP as Chris, the owner of the hostel, offers excellent tours himself with different options. The overnight tour to Corcovado was definitely my highlight while travelling in Costa Rica!! I experienced it as a familiar place where it is easy as a solo traveller to get in touch with other guests.
Cons: It is a little bit out of the town center but still you can walk everything.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Christian was so accommodating and friendly. Such a nice guy to chat with, and great recommendations!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We liked the relaxing place with good aircon and a nice large and clean kitchen. The best part was the owner, Christian, who organized every day an other tour for us and was very helpful and entertaining. He has a great eye for wild watching. His tours where also cheaper as in the village. We loved the night tour, where he found the most exiting night creatures.
Cons: The village is not very interesting furtheron and the park is quite far from here. You need to book some tours if you are in this village.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We had zich a lovely stay here. The place is really easygoing. Very good atmosphere, very nice and helpful owner Christian, who is also the best guide in the park. There is a kitchen, where you can cook, make coffee, and so on. Location is perfect, on the way to Corcovado, peaceful with birds and kolibries in the garden. Thanks again for everything Christian !
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very clean, relaxing, great kitchen to cook.
Cons: There was not a lot of people staying here when I was here. Not much of a social presence. Felt more like a house stay than a hostel stay.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff are friendly and welcoming plus quite accommodating which is super important considering how many people are getting up and leaving at the crack of dawn to go to the park. Beds are nice and private with their own curtains and the showers are pretty cool with a pebbles-over-the-ground floor so all the water just seeps back into the earth (don't worry there is a concrete block to stand on).
Cons: Nothing to complain about. It is a bit out of town for those super early morning starts which everyone seems to be doing in PJ, but other than that nothing to complain about

10.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved this property! It was so convenient to anything I wanted to. I was treated so kindly just like it used to be 20 years ago in Costa Rica. The employees were so nice and when it was time to go to Matapalo, they called someone and provided a wonderful person that took me to the grocery store first and then over. He knew the house I was staying in as he drives there and to Carate quite often. The caiman habitat behind the hotel was awesome and I had so much fun photographing everything on the property too. I can't wait to go back here and stay.
Cons: Nothing - everything was so excellent - great crisp sheets on the bed and the breezes through the window were heavenly for a nap.
7.5 Good
Pros: The lodge is located beautifully and the bungalows are nice and clean. The staff also allowed us to leave some luggage for a couple of days during our stay in the nationalpark.
Cons: We waited for 15 Minutes in the lodge's restaurant, making repeated eye contact with the staff but got ignored so we left eventually without any food or drinks. During heavy rainfalls, water started dripping through the roof at one point of our bungalow.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything else was perfect. Tomas is the nicest and most chill hotel owner. He was an incredible host. He was really helpful and funny. We had an awesome time at the dolphin watching tour they are selling. (Saw heaps of them). The hotel is in a really quiet area, still close to the town. We saw howler monkeys, snakes, scarlet macaws and much more. Just beautiful.
Cons: The wifi didn't really work.

Pros: Right in front of the ocean! Tomas was really helpful. And the lagoon behind it was totally cool... Just be aware of the wild lives around the hotel and be respective then you’ll be fine.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and is a perfect getaway from the busy life of the US. Relaxing, beautiful rooms in a beautiful location. Right on the beach, there’s a tiki bar area perfect for hanging out and making new friends, and restaurants and bars only a short walk away. The manager let us check in several hours early and was extremely nice
Cons: It was perfect!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location close to town but very peaceful and with opportunities to see wildlife. Staff are really helpful and friendly.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Did not have breakfast. Staff were very helpful in getting us moved in and in getting us to the bus station, even stopping at an ATM on the way so we could get some cash. Cabins were large single rooms - rather like a yurt - with a bathroom with a hot shower. Comfortable and clean. Location was within walking distance of a good restaurant, although we had to use flashlights to walk along the road down to it. Unfortunately, because of our schedule, we did not get to take advantage of the beach as we had planned but it looked nice.
Cons: The location of the mini-split AC near the bed meant that the person closest to it was either a little too cold when it was on, or too warm when it wasn't. An extra blanket would've helped and I don't remember that we had one.
Utopia Tica, Sustainable Lodge - Puerto Jiménez - Bedroom

8.9 Excellent (25 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Utopia Tica Sustainable Glamping Guest house as well as an organic food service on site forest nested in the heart of the Osa Peninsula in Dos Brazos in the Puntarenas Region. Just 200 metres from the entrance to the “el tigre” trail which is one of the four entrances to the world-famous Corcovado national park, said to be the most intense biodiverse place on earth. The kitchen is equipped with fridge and oven. The sanitary consists in three showers in a “banana-circle” (the banana-circle enables the property to use shower water to water the fruit trees around it, therefore we kindly ask guests to bring biodegradable products). Three dry(compost)toilets feeds a compost which itself feeds the fruit trees. Slow internet is provided compensated with family dinners, card games and bonfires. A “swimming pool” is dug into the river for the dry season (from December until it gets flushed away as the first rain comes in the end of May) as well as a relaxing yoga, meditation and sunbathing “beach. Free coffee and tea are available all day long while fruits are offered during fruiting season.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything was as we wished for :) the nature, sounds, fully equipped kitchen, fantastic outdoor shower (hot!), amazing experience. François is a very friendly guy, he takes care of the organic farm himself and really is doing his best to keep it as natural as possible. We loved the howler monkeys waking us up in the morning and François cute dog, who was almost like a guard, growling every time she heard something in the bushes. Totally recommended! :)
Cons: The WiFi is non existing but who would need WiFi there! :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: · Utopia tica has so far been my favorite place, that i have stayed at in Costa Rica. It’s a very rustique and basic hostel, that makes you feel like your directly out in nature. If you like staying in hiking shelters, this is the place to stay at for a few days. The owner, Francois is good fun and very helpful. Time goes a bit slower in utopia tica, all is chill and relaxed. Read in a hammock, go for a swim in the river or go for some of the incredible hikes. François also currently hosts two lovely volunteers, that made an amazing birthday dinner for me. Best jungle sushi ever! Overall just great vibes.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Matt who was managing the place is fantastic. Robin who was leading yoga was lovely! They made the experience what it was!
Cons: No wifi and no electricity the final day.
7.9 Good
Pros: Cabana was located amongst the vegetation and close to walking tracks and very private. The gas stove and electric fridge were very good and allowed us to cook our meals. The mosquito nets were added protection against mosquitoes (there weren’t many). Mathew , the caretaker, was very helpful and welcoming an asset for the property. Value for money.
Cons: The composting toilets.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was an excellent stay in the middle of the jungle. The owners were more than accommodating and were able to arrange a night tour for me which was excellent. It's also a great example of how to live in peace with nature. I'm going to miss the jungle and the wildlife around the property!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice host.
Cons: Living Outdoors with Sounds of river and daytime birds
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place is incredible ! This is a total "close to nature" experience. The lodge is located just by the river and if you walk up the river you'll see waterfalls and natural pools. There're many activities all around: visiting the Corcovado park (only with a guide), walking through the jungle, walking up the river,... You can also go to Puerto Jimenez, there you can go kayaking and snorkeling. The coffee is delicious and provided for free. The kitchen is super-equipped ! All beds have strong mosquito nets, and the rooms have an "open feeling". Also you hear the birds singing in the morning, so you always wake up in a good mood ! They also have a small business that sells food from local farms, everything is organic and in bulk (so less plastic !!!). Also, you have to bring your own biodegradable products (soap, shampoo, suncream, ...) because every drop of water you will be using will go directly into the farm's soil or river. Ask them if you are not sure about a product. And lastly, the hosts are incredibly kind ! They welcome you and you feel instantly at home. I would've stayed much longer if I could.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff went above and beyond! We had a great experience and appreciated their eco and community orientation.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Secluded setting, river close by, walking trails, good vibe,
Cons: Dangerous walk ways, inadequate kitchen facility, no clean cleaning supplies, bathroom buckets needs emptied more often, dangerous shower floor, misleading booking info. No Wi-Fi, Naked owner.

Pros: Super friendly, laid back, and accommodating staff--the owner even had a rare whale-spotting opportunity and brought us out on his boat to see (he was very responsible and kept good distance from the whale, for those wondering). Paulo, the attendant, was terrific as well--the Mayor of Puerto Jimenez!
Cons: Internet went out during a rain storm and down through the night, but that was no big deal--I only mention in case you anticipate needing internet consistently during your stay.

5.0 Okay
Pros: Personnel was nice and they let us leave the car while we were in Corcovado.
Cons: We were three and they tried to put us in a room for two with a bed up on a "balcony" inside of the room, quite dangerous. We asked for them to change us and they accepted as it was the low season.

Cons: They shouldnt claim themselves as a hostel if they dont like young backpackers, very unfriendly!
4.2 Okay

Cons: No bedside lamp for reading. Not a good vibe. Would not recommend or go back.

Pros: Super friendly staff, breakfast, we could leave our stuff in the room while exploring Corcovado overnight. We could borrow bike for no extra fee! Beautiful pool and garden, with birds and even toucan overhead.
Cons: The location is quite distant from the center - count with approx. 25 min walk. During our 3 nights we did not manage to connect to wifi not even once. Noisy party one of the nights - I could not sleep until 2am.
7.9 Good
Pros: The garden of the accommodation was very lovely. Many animals around (howlermonkeys on top of trees, hummingbirds, bats, a lot of butterflies, ..) The staff was so nice and helpful! They always took time to answer all our questions (and we hat plenty of them). It’s a very quiet and peaceful place. We felt safe and really liked the place!
Cons: The surrounding streets are very bad but that has nothing to do with the accommodation. It takes a lot of time to get anywhere (1,5 hours at least to get to corcovado nationalpark although the park is only 25 miles away)
6.7 Good
Pros: The family who runs the Osa Lodge were really lovely. The gardens were beautiful. The breakfasts were delicious.
Cons: The room was very cramped for four people. Our cabina could use some fixing - the floorboards had holes in them there were a lot of critters in the bathroom - ants, a few cockroaches, and even a little bat

Cons: Many ants in the room. Some how we just did not feel comfortable
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Location in the rainforest on the edge of town.
Cons: Place badly maintained, staff abscent, patio?? Only trashy chairs. Pictures show another time at the reort. Bad cleaning and maintenance. Welcome brochure in the room describes services and appliances that aren't there
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent helpful staff. We saw a lot of animals and birds as well as awesome mushrooms on the property. Patricias son (Jose?) was the most helpful (and strong :) ) and helped move our giant luggage. He also showed us a caiman and other animals. Only improvements I would recommend (and I hope this doesnt sound whiny bc I mean no harm-- just to help) The beds are very uncomfortable, we needed a few more towels and a simple shelf in the bathroom would of been great as there was no were to put you toiletries near the sink. Other than that--- just know that this place is very rustic and you will be happy with it.

The meal was vegetarian friendly and comprised of organic and local ingredients. To top it all off the server and cook was very friendly.
Cons: The stairs in the Araña cabin were surprisingly steep and the loft beds were not sufficient to feel at ease with your children up there.
