The hotel was near the railway station and convenient for touring the Yorkshire Dales. The breakfast menu had a good selection of hot meals, as well as continental breakfast, including fresh fruit.
good food real ale good sociable staff very close to rail station warm and comfortable
Ideal for the railway station The description of the Superior Room was not what I got. It said LCD TV and larger bathroom the TV was very poor, but overall I was satisfied and would definitely stay there again.
Excellent staff, I hope they are appreciated. We travel a great deal and many a place has been spoilt by surly staff. The stairs. My own fault we were in rooms 12 and 9 and I have a breathing problem. I will remember next time to ask for a room accessible by lift.
room with canal view Room was a bit stuffy through night
warm, clean, freindly staff, good meal, good parking. noisey radiator
Comfort and Location No
Pleasant bar and restaurant Good size room There is no lift, and quite a lot of stairs to climb
Although I booked an alarm call in writing at registration, I did not get one.
position, car parking, food very noisy kitchen and early morning brewery delivery
ideal position for touring the yorkshire dales. adequate car parking, helpful & efficient friendly staff.
The friendliness of the staff . .efficiency, local for all good ammentities . .and wonderful food. I stay at the Rendevous very regular . .ie . .once a week . . fortnightly, monthly. depending on my business arrangements. I have always had a very pleasant stay. Thank you.
rooms were nice and food was excellent.would stay at rendez-vous again
the service from staff was very good, professional and satisfactory the bed in our room was a little soft and due to that and the cold my wife and I have suffered a stiff shoulder, therefore you could maybe update the bed in that room..
The hotel was easy to find and had a relaxed atmosphere. The amenities were well maintained. The hotel was fine however, the mattress was old and uncomfortable.
Good base for travelling around the Yorkshire Dales. The room was clean and the beds comfortable.
The room was large and fairly clean and the location was very good for us. We arrived at 13:50 but had to wait until 14:30 for our room to be prepared for us. The sheets were not changed after our first night. Although the room seemed clean there was an odd smell, maybe from the carpet. The breakfast service was very poor - slow and we had to request a change of tables because of a large stain on the tablecloth.
Well organised reception and a super view from the restaurant over the canal and countryside. Spacious clean rooms. Disappointed that the restaurant could not accommodate us for an evening meal during our stay.
Room at back of hotel, overlooking barges and wildlife
use the leisure complex.relax in the room. control of shower.too hot
Very welcoming owner who served excellent breakfasts in a relaxed friendly atmosphere in her family home. The bedroom was quite small but adequate for a short stay.
The room was charming and the living room was very comfy. Sam and John are very welcoming hosts and the breakfast was excellent (so much that we did not have to eat until late evening. We are tall and the bed was a double - we had to snuggle whether we wanted to or not! But, we would stay there again because the rest of it was so charming.
The Welcome was second to none,The Breakfast was about the Best i,ve tasted, and the owner goes out of there way to please
This is a really wonderful place and it was great staying here. Especially the friendliness of the owners and the outstanding breakfast deserve being mentioned. We certainly intend to come back!
Sam is an excellent hostess. Very friendly throughout our stay and pays a lot of attention to the small things that make a difference.
we found the the hotel very comfortable and the owners helpful, also pleasant. Breakfast was excellent and we would recommend this hotel to our family and friends.
Our whole experience at this Bed and Breakfast was delightful......but that's exactly what Warren House is, a B and B. Don't expect swimming pools or spas, Sam the owner is brilliant, a real people person. She cooks breakfast in an AGA and it is a complete meal that leaves you feeling well fed for the day. We will certainly be back for yet more short breaks, delightful house, delightful lady and set in a wonderful scenic location.
What made our stay extra special was John's help in collecting us from Kinsley in his 4 by 4 as we could not get to them in our car due to flash floods
Homely, very friendly owner, made to feel very welcome, very well situated for Southern Yorkshire Dales, excellent home cooking (breakfast). None
Friendly atmosphere, well decorated, good breakfast, owner welcoming and helpful, lovely location with good walks from the door. I thought the bed was a bit soft
The staff were very good couldn't do enough for us,the hotel was very homely and comfortable. The position of the hotel is very scenic . Couldn't think of any.
Very friendly people, eager to please, accommodating. Excellent food Room was slightly small, but sufficient
The owners - very friendly, made the extra effort, over and above expectations, to be helpful and to make our stay pleasant eg. prepared an early dinner, then drove us to our venue for an evening wedding reception. The food - freshly prepared local produce perfectly prepared and presented The place - spotless, comfortable and full of character Couldn't find any
The welcome was really friendly. We were met at the door, shown around the breakfast room & lounge, then taken to our room where all facilities were shown. There are tea & coffee making facilities in the room but we were offered a tray too. As we had arrived relatively late & were not eating there Sheila told us a few places to eat in the area. Fantastic breakfast in the morning, nothing was too much trouble.
friendliness of hotel staff
The hotel grounds are beautiful but the hotel is disappointing, we had an executive double room which was very small. The lift is scary and only goes up to the first floor and the breakfast was poor.
the hotel is very modern and is in fantastic grounds the room did not have basics like hairdryers ,iron etc,,and when asked for waited an hour and they still did not arrive
Lovely location with good views. Nice and quiet ensuring a good night's sleep after a tasty meal in the restuarant.
Friendly and very helpful staff
wonderful views of the moors from bedroom window good location for exploring the area
Ease of access. Arrived late but restaurant waitress welcomed me. Service in restaurant very good. Interesting menu with good choice and fair prices. Prawn tempora - only 3 prawms! Scallops cooked really well (soft and buttery) could do with more flavour. Otherwise excellent. Breakfast also good - real sausages, good bacon and non-slushy scrambled egss. Well done! Over all the staff showed 'old fashioned' friendliness and good manners. Bed hard and TV channel range very limited
exceptionally impressed with the quality of the room i had, brand new looking bath with whirlpool and really large and well appointed room throughout
Don't expect to get to sleep before 1 am because of the banging music. No adequate response when raising this with Reception. No apology. Another two guests were also complaining to the Reception about the noise as we were leaving.
I found it quiet, peaceful and relaxing. The purpose of my visit was a reunion of old army colleagues. We were looked after extremely well.
Location was excellent with lovely views plenty of parking space continental breakfast choices fantastic We would have like a bath in the room
Already mentioned the Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The location is just right to explore the Yorkshire country side. Breakfast good and healthy. None.
Very relaxing and a welcoming atmosphere. We ate in the Brasserie both nights of our stay and the food and service were excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful and we were very impressed that the head waiter at breakfast knew our names as soon as we appeared both mornings. Our stay was not long enough!!
A very peaceful and relaxing stay and a beautiful part of England
Everything, but it would have been nice to have a choice of another bar with food served. We liked everything
Scenic location. Attractive building. Small room and bathroom. Claustrophobic use of dark brown wallpaper. No luggage rack. No trouser press. Iron and board only available on request.
The open log fires, the lovely room, the spa and the service were all excellent. I thought the bar prices were high.
The attention to detail was excellent. The staff are all top class. A beautiful place to escape to in beautiful surroundings.
This hotel is very special and everything is seamlessly faultless. Our only minor criticism is that the bath was quite small and due to the location of the shower screen it was difficult to reach the taps.
The service was fantastic the tennis court is in poor order and in places is dangerous the loose grit beyond the base line could cause an accident
The ambiance of a country house was very pleasant and still quite relaxed and non- stuffy Staff a little stiff at times but still quite helpful
A general attitude of 'wanting to help' from all the staff
Great location, nice hotel. When we were checking in, a previous customer was complaining about being over charged. The hotel agreed and refunded him. The also over charged me for drinks. It appears to be a systematic problem as the staff did not over appologise, it seemed to be a regular complaint.
I enjoyed the clean, comfortable accomadation. The location is particulary nice. N/a
Great food, friendly staff. Decor and fixtures need an update by someone with an eye for design.
Delightful decor, a departure from traditional English country hotels
excellent service and a complimentary pass to the health club at the devonshire arms hotel
Stunning location and beautiful hotel
Incredible scenery; friendly staff My room (#2) was looking a little tired.
Good-sized room, good facilities, helpful, friendly staff, excellent food, lovely relaxed atmosphere, great views, good standard of cleanliness. Only very minor points really. a) The smart CD/radio in our room didn't pick up any radio stations (no CDs to play either). B) No local walking maps available at reception, contrary to what's said in the 'Welcome Pack'.
fantastic surroundings, great contemporary decor in an old surrounding, and very efficient and friendly staff with a personal service nothing
The food was excellent and the manager and staff were extremely helpful
Central location ideal for all amenities Noisy pub below open til late
The quality of the rooms was excellent and so was the breakfast with a selection of continental and cooked. Fantastic value for money with very friendly and helpful staff. Noisy nights from the pub and local night club but we knew about that when booking so it's not a complaint.
Staff were very helpfull and friendly No bad points, hotel needs just a little bit more T.L.C.
very convenient for the train station and town centre. Nice staff The heating went off at 11PM and when I left it was still off - It was a very cold experience
Cheap and good location, they even did an early breakfast for us. The accommodation was above a pub open until 2am. Check-in was up to 10pm and I had to cut short an event to get here on time. I could have checked in later and had the full event.
Handy location, not as bad as internet 'chat' reviews A bit tired and grubby. Noisy due to overlooking main street and no double glazing and 'unusual' DJ'ing that went on to 2am.
The breakfast was excellent. Very friendly staff. Time of breakfast limited between 9-9.30. The bathroom needed some care and attention.
Friendly; helpful. Bed not of particularly good quality - not the most comfortable.
Good reception, warm hotel, comfy bed, great breakfast! Especially the bacon! The bathroom was an odd shape to get in and out of, and the shower, although warm and good, leaked a lot!
The room was very clean and the breakfast good. Lack of heating in the bedroom and poor atmosphere in the bar area.
Good location as a base for walking. Room nicely refurbished in contemporary style but retaining original features/character. Good ensuite with excellent shower. Main bar area is a little tired and unwelcoming however attractive restaurant serving a good selection of well prepared food. Whilst the staff were friendly and helpful they appeared to be understaffed on the evening of our arrival. On the second night we felt rushed through dinner although it was only 9.00pm
The location Poor value for money. The en suite was very cramped. The walls of the room were dirty and the carpet was stained. Not worth nearly £100, even for the location. Not enough staff to cope with demand at evening meal and breakfast. We waited half an hour for a hot drink with our breakfast.
Lovely room, comfortable bed, well cooked breakfast, welcoming log fire. Internet booking site said Lister Arms was 3.1 miles from Grassington and it turned out to be nearer 10 miles and took about half an hour to get there. Information should be corrected on the internet. My booking confirmation was for £70 per night but was charged £90. However there was no problem in getting a refund but there must be a gremlin in the system.
Pleasant environment; good food; great position for walking in spectacular countryside. Welcome was a bit off putting....kept waiting because computer was down; wasn't sure if booking was in place initially.Staff had to go out for milk for coffee after evening meal!! No hash browns as stated on breakfast menu for two mornings running....no mention made of this until we asked on first morning....black pudding offered as an alternative on second morning!
welcoming, friendly staff and a wonderful location in the Dales our room had the smallest en-suite I have ever used
Pretty location, albeit wasted on a business trip! Food was only okay. Not as good as I would have expected from how the place is marketed.
Lovley village great walks nice people None
It was a clean friendly hotel central and comfortable one I intend to return to well done None
Very friendly owner who went to great lengths to make sure we enjoyed our stay. Very good supper was provided
Comfortable, friendly and clean
Breakfast and staff. No proper bar. Limited drink selection from honesty bar.
Very comfortable and nice room. Very good breakfast, using local produce. Would have preferred to have been able to have breakfast later and so a more relaxing start to the day.
The full Yorkshire breakfast and accompanying fresh fruit, preserves etc. We were in a ground floor room and heard every footstep from the first floor bedroom above. Also the noise from the sliding doors of their wardrobe was annoying.....
Very friendly and relaxed, room good size and comfortable, suited our needs Ideally would have prefered breakfast just a little later as we rarely get that extra half an hour, but wouldnt stop us returning.
the area was nice and peaceful relaxing just the radiator in bathroom did not work and was cold
A lovely, relaxing and friendly place. The breakfast was excellent, the room was relaxing and clean with nice bathroom and products. The surroundings were lovely too. The breakfast was 7.30 til 8.30, it would have been nice to have breakfast extended a bit until 9/9.30 for people wanting more of a lie in.
would like breakfast a little later
First class comfortable hotel in quiet rural location. Evening dinner menu by prior arrangement, otherwise a selection of pubs and restaurants are available in the surrounding villages.
Being in a different building to the pub was good. Room and ensuite were to small (Room M34). No alarm clock provided. Iron provided but no where to use it. Coffee pot had previous persons coffee in it.
Very basic accommodation - would not call them luxury rooms Anybody booking through Booking.com are put in the Manor House and if you book direct with the hotel then you are put in the main building but be warned the main building is twice as much as the Manor House and there is very little difference between the rooms!!!!
It has character and is not bland and modern
The cosy atmosphere, location and friendly staff.
The location of the hotel was ideal for exploring the Dales Way. The staff were very helpful and attentive making the stay extremely relaxing.
The Food and the location
I loved the hotel & location it was very nice & relaxing! I liked everything about my stay
Fantastic location, beautiful village and walks. Red lion pub very cosey with good food. Manor house felt a bit tatty. Room was ok but overall the place had the feeling of a hostel. Communal areas very dated and in need of some decoration and refurbishment. Some of the younger members of staff not very professional or interested. Very bright lighting in bar area which spoilt the ambiance of the place
Fabulous location.Staff very helpfull and polite.Restraunt is very reasonably priced for the quality of the food,.delicious....My wife loves the Molton brown in the bathrooms.A touch of luxury. :O) nope not a thing.
