Free use of bicycles is available at this bed and breakfast and the area is popular for cycling. Cabo Polonio is 35 km from Posada Mandala, while Aguas Dulces is 44 km away.
Pros: The stay at Posada Mandala was one of the best holiday experiences we have had, for the attention, the inn itself, the place, the beaches and all its surroundings, and something I did not expect ... the other passengers who stayed there these days, all with good vibes, sharing moments of talks, games and meals. Both respect and fun in a paradisiacal place results in 10 in my assessment.
Cons: The last thing I liked was coming back. I would like to stay there forever!
Pros: Is the most beautiful place where I have sleep in all the travel! Very beautiful location and delicious person
Pros: Good energy, relaxing vibes, great healthy breakfast ♥️ namaste
Pros: really nice hostel with lovely people. great breakfast with fruits and yogurt, toast, coffee, etc. It has everythihg you need.
Cons: It is located outside of the village, maybe for backpackers not the best location. But they pick you up from the terminal and also bring you there and during the stay you can use their bike, which I really apreciated.
Pros: This was the most beautiful and comfortable place that I found in Uruguay. It's a small, familiar place, so it's really quiet and perfect to relax, but has got everything you need, a fully equipped kitchen, a really cozy common area, my room was amazing, bed was great. I really enjoyed the style of the interior as well, Posada Mandala lives definitely up to its name. Everything seems to be made thoughtfully and with love, there are so many details that make a great atmosphere. The hosts are really caring and kind. They picked me up at the bus station of la Pedrera and gave me a bike to discover the area. Since there are no supermarkets or restaurants in walking distance, you should bring your own food or go by bike. La Pedrera is a 20 Minutes drive away and much more touristy, therefore offers restaurants and shops. The beaches in April were practically deserted and very beautiful and clean. Breakfast was great, they serve delicious home-made bread, among other things.
Cons: Nothing, I had a perfect stay
Pros: We had an excellent stay at Posada Mandala, our host Frederico was very welcoming and came to pick us up at the bus station, and so was his son. I highly recommend you have dinner at the venue, as the food was excellent with freshly made bread and all was delicious and very reasonably priced. The breakfast is very tasty as well. All in all, an excellent venue with lovely hammocks to chill, around the corner from a beautiful and very quiet beach, definitely would stay again!
Pros: We had a really good time staying at this family run place only a few steps from the beautiful beach. Frederico was very nice to pick us up and drop us off in La Pedrera which is a couple kilometers away. We were happy to be bit out of town as it was calmer with less people around. Breakfasts were good and they also offered dinners for a good price at night whenever we were interested. We also were able to cook ourselves when we wanted too. The wall to town along the beach was awesome too. The rooms were just what we needed - bathrooms and shower were clean. We especially enjoyed the great company which made our stay so much better especially all the chess games with Frederico Jr...Thanks for a good time!
Pros: We were welcomed as family and had a VERY good time. Thank You! We liked; beach, bikes, that Federico came to get us from La Pedrera bus station, Christmas dinner together, breakfast, mosquito nets, kitchen. Location is 20 min by bike from La Pedrera.
Cons: Nothing! We didn’t care, but there are quite some insects. Mosquito nets are very nice!

Pros: Great breakfast and wonderful staff. Helped up book restaurants and even jump start our car. Very friendly.
Cons: Nothing really.
Pros: Excellent breakfast, friendly and helpful staff. Very comfortable bed and lovely room.
Pros: Amazing location, Great staff, Beautiful/refined rooms, Delicious breakfast
Pros: View to die for. Beds were incredibly comfortable. Delicious breakfast and great to have frig and kettle in room.
Pros: This is a beautiful place to stay with a spacious room, comfy large bed and many personal touches. We had a fridge, hot water pot, coffee cups, corkscrew and wine glasses, 2 beach chairs, beach towels and sun hats. The room had a nice sitting area and a deck with chairs. We had a great view of the beach. Breakfast was wonderful with fresh baked tarts both savory and sweet. Also fresh baked breads, fresh fruits, thick yogurt and hunks of cheese. We hated to leave.
Pros: Super Service and great tips from the owner and the service personal. The location is great and we had have a direct view to the ocean .. wonderful.
Pros: What an amazing view from the Master Suite, We came back 3 times to stay in the same Suite. Great service and a lovely breakfast.
Pros: Good location and staff
Cons: Dated hotel that needs some money spending on it to bring it up to date. Prices of food and drink expensive.

The town of La Paloma is 10 km from Posada Irsis. Rocha Lagoon is 15 km away.
Pros: Tasty breakfast; great conversations with Juan. We were there in early September (off-season), so enjoyed the absolute quiet, sky full of stars, and empty beaches. The room was very comfortable and everything worked. Great value!
Cons: Glad we had a car, as transport and food in the off-season is sparse. Liked the upstairs room but be aware that there are steps to climb. Parking is just off the road; a little difficult to see on the first night.
Pros: Juan and Barbara are great hosts, they were very welcoming and Juan gave us great recommendations where to visit in the area
Pros: Juan is a wonderful host with lots of advice on what to do and see in the area. The building design is quite unique and Punta Rubio is beautiful making Posada Irsis a great choice.
Pros: Juan the owner was really good vibes and friendly. Breakfast was very nice, and also the garden. We wanted to check out one night in advance because we changed plans and he was very understanding of situation and gave us back last night payment.
Pros: Very quiet and relaxing place. Managed by owner Juan and his partner who really added value to the stay. The place is located in a convenience place right on punta rubia central street. 2 mins from a supermarket and 5 mins to the beach. 15 mins walking to la pedrera with it incredible center and beaches. The bar and restaurant within Irsis offer very good home made food, drinks, and breakfast included is simple but tasty and healthy.
Pros: Lovely made rooms with a nice design. We stayed for one night. From the location you can easily visit La Pedrera and La Paloma. The owners are very nice and breakfast is nice. There is a lot of love for details in this hotel...
Cons: The breakfast could have been a little bit bigger. As we were out of the season, we were the only guests (no problem for us). Payment can only be done in cash, but that is the case for most hotels along the coast...
Pros: Juan and Barbara are suoerfriendly and helpful. The place is clean, has a nice breakfast and they lend out a couple of bikes for free. Location is good. Easy to reach by bus and just a couple of blocks from the beach. I would definitely stay here again!
Pros: The owners make you feel at home and help you with any question you might have. Loved it!
Cons: Posada Irsis is a bit far from La Pedrera. But: If you rent one of their bikes, it's a quick and beautiful bike ride away.
Pros: Clean, comfortable and beautifully furnished room with hot shower. Mosquito net was great at night. Communal area is lovely and WiFi excellent. Breakfast was really good each morning; with coffee, juice, fresh fruit and bread/ cheese. Location fantastic; a short walk to the beach and a little further to the shops/ restaurants in La Pedrera. Highly recommend!
Cons: Nothing. Thank you Juan and Barbara for a wonderful stay.

All of them have fully-equipped kitchens, including a refrigerator, a microwave, an oven and a toaster, private bathrooms and ceiling fans. Free parking is provided. Aloha Village is 6 km from La Pedrera Bus Terminal and 107 km from Punta del Este Airport.
Pros: Probably the most fantastic virgin nature I have experienced in Uruguay. I didn't hear a dog during all my stay. I did not see another human apart from the owner. The beaches are endless to both sides in the direction of La Paloma or Cabo Polonio. Star pictures are amazing! Lots of spiders and scorpions at night! Do not walk with flip flops then!
Cons: - Linen and towels are included, but no soap. Feels like such a cheap thing to include I cannot understand why this is left out. - A sponge is provided in the kitchen, but no detergent. Again, why miss out on such a cheap and simple detail? - I did not approve of the owner's "security course" on arrival. I am Uruguayan (even though I live in Sweden), been traveling in this country for 21 years in a row and never had anything stolen from me or my person. His security instructions felt just out of order and only added to a feeling of insecurity that really sticked during my stay. I have informed the owner of this feeling in person, so this rating should not come as a surprise.
Pros: Sergio was an excellent host. Attentive when needed, yet private otherwise. He was great for recommendations including winery, dinner, beaches, day trips, etc. Very friendly and professional.
Cons: Nothing really. It's truly a special place on earth.
Pros: Lovely hosts, great cabanas, unparalleled beach!!
Pros: One of the most beautiful beaches in Uruguay is a 5 minute walk!
Pros: The beach was nice but a bit of a walk and not a great place to swim. It is off the main road on a dirt road, but you don’t need 4x4. Quiet area. The location is nicely between the main towns in the area. The rooms are secure and there is a safe.
Pros: So well located, just a short walk to the rolling sand dunes and beach. The owner Serge, who lives on site could not do more, special night sharing a meal on the parilla (bbq) with him. He was not intrusive, but always their if you wanted something. Great nature watching, birds and mammals. And don't forget Eddie the iguana likes salami better than cucumber! Felt like I was a guest and not a paying customer, so special.
Cons: Having to leave!

Pros: We spent one night in a private double room, which was spacious, airy and nicely decorated. The shared bathroom was next door so it was almost an en suite! The manager was very welcoming and informative - advises of a great restaurent around the corner ‘El Pato’. Only half an hour from the coast to the lovely beaches at La Pedrera.
Pros: I felt like visiting family, homely atmosphere, very clean and only 15 mins walk from the bus station. Good wifi and i really liked the kitchen.
Pros: Nice breakfast made by the host and good coffee, kitchen where you feel at home, very good kingsize bed in a spacious room with fan on the high ceiling, bathroom shared but attached to the room, lovely courtyard with garden, interesting art on every wall, safe place, good wifi.
Cons: Cars rush fast outside... some noisy traffic ...
Pros: Great room, location. The wifi worked fine!
Cons: Nothing to complain about...
Pros: Wonderfully clean and very attentive hosts :) Would return!
Pros: Great place, spotlessly clean, amazing staff, very nice and spacious public areas, strong wifi
Pros: Nice spacious rooms. Great staff
Pros: Our hostess was very helpful and knowledgeable about the local area, and gave us some great pointers on things to do in the area. The contrast between inside and the outside of the building is amazing, don’t be deceived... Great kitchen and communal area. A very homely feeling to the place.

Pros: Alta Piedra is a great little hostel, a very short walk to the beautiful rocky cliffs of La Pedrera, and a couple minutes farther to lovely beaches. It's got a laid-back vibe, friendly welcoming staff. All around an excellent experience!
Pros: The location was excellent. Very close to the beach, only a short walk from the bus stop and all the major restaurants/bars. The staff was friendly and helpful. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend.
Cons: The room could have been a little cleaner.
Pros: Beds very confortable. Excellent place to go at the beach!
A stay at El Viajero La Pedrera Hostel & Suites places you in the heart of La Pedrera, a 1-minute drive from Beach of Barco and 11 minutes from Aguada Beach. Featured amenities include a computer station, a 24-hour front desk, and multilingual staff.
Pros: Good location. A little bit outside of this beautiful tiny village. Trees and everywhere around you. Almost no lights around. The only noises you hear at night are from animals. Very nice staff and nice kitchen and shared rooms to hang out. All in all a good atmosphere around this place.
Cons: There was no AC in the room. And all the furniture was a bit old. Beds are to small for taller people (>185cm) but this seems to be a general problem in South America.
Pros: The staff is amazing, they speak good English and help in everything. We didn’t like La Pedrera and decided to leave and they helped us with everything we needed. They also let us stay few hours after checkout to drinks and eat while it was raining.
Pros: Everything, best place ever!
Pros: Staff were extremely friendly and uncomplicated. Unfortunately we had to leave early but they partly refunded our booking, which they didn't have to. Thank you.
Cons: Prices are generally extremely high this time of year but you would likely still expect a little more.
Pros: Loved the area and proximity to beach and bars/restaurants. The vibe at the hostel was cool - lots of young people, hammocks everywhere, a great communal area.
Cons: The room itself was quite mediocre. We had a private room with private bathroom for 2 people. The bed wasn't very comfortable and we didn't sleep all that well. Considering the price (which was a LOT for a hostel) I expected a bit more. But unfortunately this time of year (January) its so expensive to stay in Uruguay...
Pros: Very nice and friendly staff. The hostel is very well located in the middle of nature, but in walking distance to the restaurants and the beach. Good breakfast.
Cons: A little too hot in the room because there was no AC but only a fan.
Pros: The place is really nice and relaxed. The rooms are in a sea container which is quite cool.
Pros: The hostel owner/host is great, nearly always available apart from the two minutes he pops to the shop or so. He’s very helpful as well and gave us an umbrella to go to the beach one day free of charge. Also he lit up a barbecue one of the nights we were there so that’s always good. I was a bit weary of the construction of the place when I saw it (it’s built from shipping containers). I was expecting it to be like being trapped in a sauna but it was fine in the room and also the bed was really comfortable.
Cons: Not really about the property but Uruguay in general is fairly pricey during high season but compared to other places in Uruguay that I’ve stayed in this was better value for money.

Pros: Amazing location close to the beach and three blocks from the Main Street. The apartment has a very nice deck area and a barbecue which is lovely for afternoon sits. There’s no view from the deck, but it gets a great breeze and is very pleasant. kitchen is small but useful. Overall it’s a fine place and very lovingly managed by a nice family. Recommend for families with small children.
Cons: We had some trouble with leaky ceilings, but the management was on it quickly. Only complaint was the peak-season pricing, but it was fairly priced even for that period, and the crowds in town were huge the first week of January.

Pros: This little posada is a true gem. Laura and Miguel are such great and amazing hosts - and they are preparing you every morning a fantastic breakfast and give you useful tips. Pros: The vibe of the People. The ambience. The employees. The structure.
Pros: Very friendly and party hostel. If you search a place to go with your friends for having fun ,this hostel is the best place to be.
Pros: Amazing party hostel, you cannot feel alone there. Every night dinner cooked by the staff, I ate an amazing Asado! Toilets are cleaned multiple time a day. Staff is super nice and helpful. Music and party until 2 a.m.
Cons: 10% of charges if paying by Credit Card is a theft. Totally nonsense. Bring a repellent for mosquitos or forget to sleep.
Pros: Nice staff, clean rooms, lovely breakfast
Pros: Staff were great and very friendly. Very social place. The dinners tasted great and was cheap. Extremely clean.
Cons: The mosquitos were bad in the room. But it was too hot at night to close the windows. Maybe some bug nets around the bed would help this.

Pros: Great place to relax and enjoy fresh air, stunning landscape and very beautiful houses by the river and garden. The beds are confortable and room is big. You can use a shared kitchen and have breakfast by the river.
Cons: The shower in our room was not working properly - water pressure was very weak so he had to stick against the wall to shower. Bathroom and shared kitchen were not very cleaned.
Pros: The place and location are amazing. The only problem is that it’s very difficult to find, even with GPS. They don’t even have a sign at the gate. The owners are great people and the place is beautiful. We thought it had a restaurant on site but it didnt. That wasn’t a problem because we could use the kitchen and barbecue. It’s a bit expensive for what they offer.
Cons: Difficult to find. Very pricey!!
