The closeness of the beach and other amenities was a real bonus, together with a great swimming pool

The front desk staff were, at best, curt and not at all helpful. The bar music was far too loud.

Good location and excellent breakfast buffet. Staff fairly helpful when you could find them. Good sauna and steam room. Reasonable value for money. Easy free parking.

No towels available in spa. Very early check-out. Rooms and decor very dated. Had to pay for use of safe. Towels and pillows inadequate. More a three star hotel with an aged clientele.

Hotel was simple, but very clean and plenty comfortable.

Location, price, room spacious

Everything was very good. The size of the rooms, the cleanliness, the location. We went in November so I'm not sure whether the summer months would be a bit noisier. We would definitely stay there again (and probably will in January).

Good location and high class hotel. Was a fair choice for northern Costa Brava northren part tour.

Too expensive for what you get. Prices are similar to "same class״ hotels in Barcelona. The spa was far from being impressive, not relevant to winter days.

Staff speaks english; good breakfast, 15 min walk to the beach.

The room and bathroom was not clean; dirty towels; ants in the room; very thin walls; no soap in the bathroom.

Breakfast could be better

During the off peak periods this hotel is excellent value. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and include some self catering equipment. The location is good, near the beach and within the old town of Roses providing access to it's many bars and restaraunts.

Our room was slightly worn and needed some upgrading but as stated above still clean and comfortable.

The old building was very attractive and the room was unique in its design. The location out in the country was very restful.

There was no heat in the room on a cool night. The lighting did not cover important areas of the room. Although the stone sink was very attractive, it was not practical for washing. Instead of the exercise machine in the room, it would have been better to have a place to keep your baggage so that it could be accessed without putting it on the bed

The room was very nice and the restaurant was excellent. The staff were helpful and kind

The portable A/C unit in the room was new but noisy and not functional. The hotel would have been better advised to install another system. up to four silent room units can be installed on one outside compressor for probably a similar cost. i hope this comment is paased on as it is intended to be constructive.

Very friendly and helpful staff, everything was very clean and well taken care off, nice breakfast buffet and terrace. It´s a great budget hotel/hostel and excellent value for money. English/French/Spanish/Catalan spoken.

Sleeping with the window open was very noisy towards one side of the hotel, otherwise everything was great.

The best thing about this hotel is its location. We had a room overlooking the sea and it was really nice; the balcony is big enough to sit and enjoy the view. The area is quiet and very nice for long walks on the shore of the sea. The room was updated and nice decorated and the breakfast was also ok.

We did not appreciate the cleaning of the room - even if the cleaning service was daily, the sand or dust on the floor and on the carpet was not removed.

Excellent hotel, very good value for money, and lovely staff. Breakfasts excellent. Just a little far out of Roses itself, but easy to drive into Roses and leave a car there. Super position right on the beach with a couple of nice cafes there. Altogether thoroughly recommended

The rooms did not look like the ones in the brochure. They were small and dated.

Easy free parking. Generous choice of breakfast. Pleasant staff (however, I speak Spanish) Large pool area kept clean and tidy. Low bar prices. Quiet residential area. Great views.

The bedrooms need renovation. The bathrooms have been modernised and are good, but the plain wooden furniture is scratched and tired. One simple chair, a plain wooden desk. The tv was an old type, and small (15" screen). Irritating was having to pay on arrival, having to put a deposit for the tv remote-control, and having to pay up-front to use the telephone. All in all the price is rather high - for not much more, I stayed at various Paradores. But it was a holiday (San Juan)

the hotel staff were very helpfull and kind and as i was disabled made sure had a room near the left plus they gave me a room with a big balcony for me and my dog which was very helpfull would stay at this hotel again

Entrance hall is nice.

Room are not as in the picture of hotel presentation. It is showed a suite and one can believe it is a regular room you are going to book. No, rooms are 4 x 4 meters.... very small and typically spanish, old faision furnitures. So the price (I paid 95 euros...) should be 35 euros, this would be regular price we would pay in any similar hotel, same dates. Also swiming pool is nice but very durty with plenty of things inside...

I loved my stay at hotel Carmen. Their attention to details, staff's hospitality, and clean and pleasant room made our trip memorable. The breakfast was excellent too. I had a much better stay at this hotel than many 4 and 5 start hotels in the area.

The design, cleanliness, the courteous and helpful staff. Everything was fantastic.

Overally a very nice quiet hotel. Mostly suitable for families and pensioners, but it seems to be the case for most of the whole town of Roses. Staff is helpful and friendly. Breakfast choise is really huge and food quality is very good.

Gardens and pool area along with a breakfast to please anyone

The annex is just that,no balcony which must be one of the few hotels in Roses without one,room was more suited to a buisness traveller with only one chair and one small draw along with no fridge.Evening meal was 15 euros and a waste of money,we tried it once and ate out the rest of stay, fill up with breakfast and it will get you through the day,make sure your partner has a large handbag!

Clean and the owner/manager was very helpful. breakfast was good. sheets and towels clean.

Completely shut up when we arrived and looked deserted. nowhere to go and have a drink as everything was totally shut up.

Location is ok, rooms are basic and super old, no soap or shampoo, no A/C, no much space, noisy..toilet is just fine, shower a bit funny... reception is open till 2330 only, breakfast is ok thou...

Said above, this hotel maybe was nice, now it is not so pleasant...considered the plenty of choices around it.

Large nice well decorated room, large balcony with sea views (though we have not selected a sea view when we booked). Excellent buffet breakfast. We would stay there again

Unbeatable price for a room for 4! Totally clean and basic, but it suited us perfectly.

Easy to reach and to park.

Free Wi-Fi only work until 2nd floor. If your room is higher, you need to go to the lobby to access.

Cheerful staff, breakfasts were very good.The location was perfect for walking in National Park and swimming in the sea. Room was clean and comfortable. Very pleasant walking around the town and the marinas in the evenings. The view from the balcony was enjoyed.

The street noise does go on all night, so we had to have the balcony door closed at night. The double bed was very small . We asked to be changed to a twin room which was no problem.
