The hotel was Heaven: beautiful location, amazing staff, and excellent accommodations.
Bedroom view Very expensive breakfast. Two teas and two tomatoes on toast=£23
Friendly staff, excellent food No
The bathroom was very poor
I liked the hotels proximity to Chatsworth House and other places of interest. I found the hotel room draughty and a little cold.
Very peaceful & pleasant spot, rooms superb & food excellent. Breakfast should have been included in the room price
Convenient location to Chatsworth House, friendly staff and good food. Great views of open countryside.
Elegant but unstuffy country house hotel. Friendly efficient staff who were welcoming and helpful.
Cozy rooms and lounge with comfortable couches. Excellent service. Poor quality food at high prices.
The staff were all very helpful and friendly and we were made to feel very welcome. Our room was comfortable and very clean and all the hotel facilities were good. I would happily recommend the hotel to other people.
The location was excellent and the hotel itself was very charming and had inherent warmth.
The olde worlde feel comfortable country hotel good food central for town bed was a bit hard
Central position, efficient staff
Beautifully warm room in a very cold spell Our room was actually in an annexe across a busy/dangerous junction from the main hotel,a fact we were not aware of when booking. When we asked for milk for our tea we were given an uncovered jug to carry across the road ourselves-we are in our 70,s.
The staff were very helpful 2 items on the menu weren't available
Staff were friendly, relaxed atmosphere, good food, cosy lounge with great open fire, quirky antiques Everything was fine
the room was nice although we could hear what other rooms were listening to on tv maybe the guest had the volume a little loud. matteress was a little lumpy
All the staff were very friendly & helpful which is something we always like. The breakfast was very nice. We did feel that overall the price of the room was a little high, given the standard of the room. It was quite an old style room which was in need of a bit of an update, ie the furnishings. There was a new bathroom suite in place which was good but just the room itself needed an update in view of the price charged.
N/A We booked to dine in the restaurant at 8 pm. When we arrived there was no-one in the restaurant for a good 6/7 minutes. When someone finally came, they told us that they weren't expecting anyone that evening!! Meal was however, quite good, but certainly not worth the money. Also bottles of wine were very expensive.
I only used it as a stopover The bed was uncomfortable
The food was excellent and the staff were both helpful and friendly, offering advice on local walks etc. We did not sleep very well as the radiator was particularly noisy which I mentioned on departure and they seemed to be aware but had not done any thing about putting it right. Room was very basic and would request a different one if we stay again.
location was very good, Staff friendly and helpful felt the hotel was very 'dated'
Staff were very friendly and were welcoming to our two dogs, which not all so called 'dog friendly' hotels!
Free car park, easy access to coutryside (ie location) Crowded dining area, with no internet access
Pleasant location and near shops etc; good breakfast Shower very poor. Bathroom had no shelves for toothbrushes etc. Stained carpets. Odd furniture
Excellent food and good value Bedside lamp and table lamp not working nor was the shaver point in the bathroom. Poor picture quality on the outdated tv.
Lovely large sized room with lovely view (room 5) and the delicious breakfast.
A small family run hotel in beautiful grounds. Nice spacious rooms. Good beer and wine available. Sliced bread with the French Onion Soup
The room had the space we expected, the bathroom was very large and the views were very good. There was no shower curtain for the roll top bath, we felt there should have been a circular rail above it. Also the wifi in the room did not work on demand, but for one night was not too much of a problem.
The view of the little towns in the valleys below was spectacula though we couldn't see it from our room. Also thought the staff was very accommodating. Breakfast was good too! Easy drive to various towns and villages for dinner. Plenty of parking spa The mattress and the blue light from the tv which was off but the light lit up the entire room. Had to put 2 towels over the tv to block the light.
Excellent rooms lovely and clean very helpful staff nothing was too much trouble would def go again excellent food the steak night on sat was to die for lovely location
Room was basic clean and functional This Hotel was at the top of steep hill about 20 minutes walk from the centre of matlock too far to walk. We arrived at 8.35 which was too late for food and needed a 7.30am breakfast which they couldn't do. So if you are travelling from far away and arrving late and want an early breakfast don't stay here
The staff were lovely. As the room was a chalet style away from the main pub was perfect as quiet and private.
The friendly and attractive guy who checked us in. Very comfortable room. Nice having a Pub on site. Pleasent and rustic atmosphere. Needed instructions for the heater in the room. That it was at the top of a huge hill from the train station.
Great roaring fire in the grate, good beer, and very friendly locals in the pub
The staff were very friendly The beds were dreadful Very uncomfortable. The room was cold. The shower was broken and bathroom was very small. Awkward to manouvre around!
Staff friendly Plenty of hot water Tea and coffee making facilities Bathroom extractor fan runs loudly for 20 minutes after switching off! Staff gave wrong times for breakfast so that we arrived at the time specified to find the hotel still locked up! (No way to start your weekend break by getting up early!) Bathroom was tiny!
None Breakfast overpriced, no choice, toast soggy and already margerined yuck!, Mushrooms raw, had to search other tables for milk!, No towels on arrival had to ask
nice plan room ideal for touring local area, nice pub food room only had a bed in so no where to sit and only one bed side cabinet
Clean Good parking Room was quite small
All, but food deserves a special mention - excellent No lounge
Hotel was basic but very clean and well maintained, excellent value for money. blackpool is an experience on so many different levels, so be warned! Nothing
Breakfast Very cold room on arrival. They didn't turn on the heating till we arrived!!
Very small room ,no shaver socket,no bath in bathroom ,very small bathroom only one lot of toiletries for two day stay.Room over front door so lots of door banging.
The food was excellent and the staff very helpful and friendly. Rather noisy as our room was above the resturant.
room was clean and comfortable breakfast great room was small bathroom smaller shower not good
Good central base to travel out from
every about whitworth park hotel was best. i can not fault it. excellent.
The room was spacious & clean, the bed very comfortable & the breakfast set us up for the day. Nothing really as was warned about music from bar. Road a bit of noise so double glazing would be a good idea.
The staff were very friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The food was superb, adventurous and well presented and very tasty. The colour scheme in the room was a bit grim.
The Mirabeau Suite was a nice large room, tastefully furnished with lovely views over the town. The suite had a beautiful big bathroom with a huge tub and plenty of hot water. In reading reviews before I stayed, I did notice a mentions of the bed being "rather soft". If you like a firm bed as I so, this is quite an understatement. The only downside to an otherwise perfect stay.
It was peaceful and quiet and ensured a good night's sleep in a comfortable bed.The self-catering arrangements were good. The rather inadequate and difficult car parking facilities. The provision of a very limited breakfast made the evening before. I would have preferred that the butter provided had been of the wrapped variety rather than bits cut from a block and placed in a dish and the one small pack of jam would have suited me personally had it been marmalade. There were a couple of electrical faults that required attention.
