I only used it as a stopover The bed was uncomfortable
The food was excellent and the staff were both helpful and friendly, offering advice on local walks etc. We did not sleep very well as the radiator was particularly noisy which I mentioned on departure and they seemed to be aware but had not done any thing about putting it right. Room was very basic and would request a different one if we stay again.
location was very good, Staff friendly and helpful felt the hotel was very 'dated'
Excellent food and good value Bedside lamp and table lamp not working nor was the shaver point in the bathroom. Poor picture quality on the outdated tv.
The room had the space we expected, the bathroom was very large and the views were very good. There was no shower curtain for the roll top bath, we felt there should have been a circular rail above it. Also the wifi in the room did not work on demand, but for one night was not too much of a problem.
Lovely large sized room with lovely view (room 5) and the delicious breakfast.
Pleasant location and near shops etc; good breakfast Shower very poor. Bathroom had no shelves for toothbrushes etc. Stained carpets. Odd furniture
Free car park, easy access to coutryside (ie location) Crowded dining area, with no internet access
A small family run hotel in beautiful grounds. Nice spacious rooms. Good beer and wine available. Sliced bread with the French Onion Soup
Staff were very friendly and were welcoming to our two dogs, which not all so called 'dog friendly' hotels!
The friendly and attractive guy who checked us in. Very comfortable room. Nice having a Pub on site. Pleasent and rustic atmosphere. Needed instructions for the heater in the room. That it was at the top of a huge hill from the train station.
Staff friendly Plenty of hot water Tea and coffee making facilities Bathroom extractor fan runs loudly for 20 minutes after switching off! Staff gave wrong times for breakfast so that we arrived at the time specified to find the hotel still locked up! (No way to start your weekend break by getting up early!) Bathroom was tiny!
Great roaring fire in the grate, good beer, and very friendly locals in the pub
Room was basic clean and functional This Hotel was at the top of steep hill about 20 minutes walk from the centre of matlock too far to walk. We arrived at 8.35 which was too late for food and needed a 7.30am breakfast which they couldn't do. So if you are travelling from far away and arrving late and want an early breakfast don't stay here
The staff were very friendly The beds were dreadful Very uncomfortable. The room was cold. The shower was broken and bathroom was very small. Awkward to manouvre around!
Excellent rooms lovely and clean very helpful staff nothing was too much trouble would def go again excellent food the steak night on sat was to die for lovely location
The staff were lovely. As the room was a chalet style away from the main pub was perfect as quiet and private.
Clean Good parking Room was quite small
nice plan room ideal for touring local area, nice pub food room only had a bed in so no where to sit and only one bed side cabinet
None Breakfast overpriced, no choice, toast soggy and already margerined yuck!, Mushrooms raw, had to search other tables for milk!, No towels on arrival had to ask
room was clean and comfortable breakfast great room was small bathroom smaller shower not good
The staff were very friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The food was superb, adventurous and well presented and very tasty. The colour scheme in the room was a bit grim.
Good central base to travel out from
Very small room ,no shaver socket,no bath in bathroom ,very small bathroom only one lot of toiletries for two day stay.Room over front door so lots of door banging.
Breakfast Very cold room on arrival. They didn't turn on the heating till we arrived!!
every about whitworth park hotel was best. i can not fault it. excellent.
All, but food deserves a special mention - excellent No lounge
The room was spacious & clean, the bed very comfortable & the breakfast set us up for the day. Nothing really as was warned about music from bar. Road a bit of noise so double glazing would be a good idea.
The food was excellent and the staff very helpful and friendly. Rather noisy as our room was above the resturant.
Hotel was basic but very clean and well maintained, excellent value for money. blackpool is an experience on so many different levels, so be warned! Nothing
The view of the little towns in the valleys below was spectacula though we couldn't see it from our room. Also thought the staff was very accommodating. Breakfast was good too! Easy drive to various towns and villages for dinner. Plenty of parking spa The mattress and the blue light from the tv which was off but the light lit up the entire room. Had to put 2 towels over the tv to block the light.
Close to home and all inclusive price for bed and breakfast stay, Ideal for last minute getaway. Stayed in the old part and the floor was a bit creaky.
We were given everything we required without any problems whatsoever. All items in the tarrif were freely available. It was warm, comfortable and relaxing. We had stayed previously at the same time of year two years ago and found no difference in service etc. to then. Nothing. Below I have ticked yes to the reviews question but not all are accurate in our minds.
Lovely big room, good evening food and good beer. No record of my booking when I arrived but thankfully, they weren't full. My breakfast was very poor. The fried egg was like rubber and had obviously been cooked a while ago and kept warm.
Very large room, warm and fiendly excellent service
Clean spacious room, plenty of hot water, good linen and towels, tasty value for money meals in casual dining area and helpful staff. View from room overlooking filling station.
Comfy bed, clean (though somewhat sparse) bathroom
The price was excellent! The fact that it's now non-smoking.
Large room space. Bathroom also roomy and clean.
close to town centre was not that luxurious overlooked a petrol station rather noisy, have been in a lot better hotels for cheaper price
The friendliness of the staff, very helpful and polite. Their was a bit of a smell of grilled food in the ventilation system in the bathroom. There was also a function on somewhere in the Hotel area which was quite noisey.
Fabulous location, friendly helpful staff and wonderful rooms. We were upgraded and could not have wanted for more.
remoteness to the real world
The breakfasts were amazing - so different from the offerings of large hotel chains - they were cooked to order, hot and so tasty. The staff who were friendly but not intrusive. The beautiful countryside and the excellent suite I'm a 'townie' I never thought about things like spiders when I booked the hotel - and was taken aback at the size of the one I found in the bathroom - however this is a minor complaint unless you are a 'spider phobic'
Fantastic location, very comfortable and luxurious room
Set in beautiful surroundings, huge comfy bed, spa bath and sauna in the bathroom, made to feel at home, amazing breakfast.
Lovely setting, lovely rooms, lovely food, entertaining animals
Absolute quiet, beutiful surroundings and the most impressive quality and service I have found in 12 months of business travel aroung the UK
Very friendly and comfortable with an individual feel and lovely furnishings. Lovely wine and food. Tv did not work very well and the water pressure in the shower was a bit weak.
Beautiful accommodation. Friendly staff. Excellent food.
Very clean friendly eficient staff and a great breakfact Television reception was poor
Th estairs could have been a problem if visitors have a mobility problem.
Relaxed atmosphere Couldn't find any....
Friendly staff, excellrnt food and spotless room.
Clean modern room, refurbished last year. Comfortable beds. Pleasant obliging staff. Good breakfasts. Convenient base for visiting several towns in the area. Parking on site. Difficult access up several stairs, esp to top floor. Would be unsuitable for those with mobility problems. Noisy main road so advisable to take earplugs if light sleepers. Some concerns about exit in the event of fire.
