Following a great nights sleep was a cooked breakfast with the best sausages I’ve come across! Riverside walks, cable cars up to The Heights of Abraham and within minutes of Crich Tramway Village and beautiful scenery. Paula and Sean/Shaun are the perfect hosts, friendly and helpful. The cooked breakfast is to die for! My room had a really comfortable bed. There was off-road parking right outside the front door.
Cons: Unfortunately there was only 1 chair in the room which was wooden and very uncomfortable and no table top (except the small one with the kettle and tea tray in the very corner of the room) that I could sit at to read or write my postcards. The only other grumble I had was that the shower head was very grimy.

Cons: Nothing we didn't like, just a few details to be aware of: 1) Tight parking spaces, but this was overcome by having great instructions for how to park from the host 2) Bathtub is mini so my husband didn't enjoy a relaxing soak, but I'm smaller so didn't have the same challenge :)

Pros: Lovely host - warm and friendly personality. Nice atmosphere. Stunning views of Derbyshire hills etc. from the house.
Cons: Some building work/landscaping still to do at the front of the property - will be very nice when completed no doubt (not that this spoilt our stay at all... just an observation). Shower/toilet room could do with extractor fan...

Pros: The location was excellent and so easy to walk into the town centre or stroll beside the river. The staff were very welcoming and we sat in the lovely garden to unwind for a while. 9.3 Excellent
Pros: Charming property and grounds
Cons: We were kept in the hall when we arrived - on the hottest day of the year - while we were asked to select breakfast items on a rather confusing form We just wanted our keys so we could go up and rest. We could have dropped our order down afterwards. Rooms lovely, comfortable. Staff very friendly.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Easy access to town and parking
Cons: Not much but perhaps a little dated
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic breakfast! Owners and staff were very kind and helpful, giving useful indications while we were visiting Matlock and surroundings. Very confortable beds and silent nights. We also enjoyed our dinner in the beautiful garden (if it wasn't raining, of course).
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners were most welcoming immediately upon our arrival. They were clearly under pressure as they had lost several staff, but nothing was too much trouble. Our friends' room was immaculate, but we were unfortunately placed in a room that had not been serviced. It was clearly an oversight/error and they could not have dealt with it a more professional manner. We were swiftly moved along the corridor, and subsequently enjoyed a lovely stay. The breakfast menu was extensive and well prepared, with our friend's gluten intolerance easily catered for. With the late afternoon sun, we all enjoyed a stroll down to the private river frontage at the bottom of the garden. We will certainly return.

Pros: The vegetarian breakfast was quite nice. The lounge was comfortable. The staff were friendly. While the property was on the main road between Matlock and Matlock Bath, the view across the busy road was onto some "nature" - cliffs and trees.

Pros: Fantastic room, lovely breakfast, a perfect luxury suite for a peak district holiday. The proprietor was very friendly, and gave us extensive and useful advice as to day activities. The hotel is well situated on a quiet road and the garden itself is incredible.
Cons: This is not really a problem, because this location is not really meant for pedestrians. If you have a car, the location is incredible. If not, then you'll either spend a lot of time hiking or waiting for busses.

Pros: The gardens were beautiful, the accomodation was comfortable and breakfast lovely. Easy parking and extremely quiet location. Tea coffee facilities and some nice extras with biscuits chocolates.
Cons: The toilet flush was challenging and the bedding and towels a little tired.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfasts were fine - all cooked to order. |Kippers were a bit disappointing - would have liked a whole one on the bone. Location was perfect for us - attending a function nearby, and clearly very handy to explore other attractions in the vicinity.
Cons: We ought to have stayed for longer. Our host Alan Clements, was clearly such a fascinating character that we would have liked to have had more time to get to know him better, and hear more about his life.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We did not know the significance of the name Cascades Gardens. These were a labour of love by the owner who had travelled extensively in the Far East and brought a lot of cultural influences to it. Very charming house as well with a great array of decorations. The host was most friendly and helpful with information on meals and walks in the area. A good choice of 2 local pubs and several restaurants in the area. Well worth visiting.
Cons: The entrance off the road is very narrow and constricted.

Pros: We can highly recommend this wonderful period hotel after our recent two night stay. Zoe and Chris are warm and friendly hosts who go out of their way to be helpful. The wonderful décor and attention to detail throughout the hotel is superb. The breakfasts served are delicious and freshly prepared with plenty to choose from. We were lucky enough to be able to book an evening meal on the first night of our stay and enjoyed a first class three course meal at a very reasonable price. The bar was well stocked and we enjoyed an after dinner drink in the comfortable residents' lounge. The hotel room was equipped with a generous range of coffee and tea making products including biscuits! Bottled water was also provided in the room each day. Many thanks for such a fantastic experience.

Pros: This is a lovely little tucked away retreat. Within walking distance of Matlock town and some lovely walks. Everything was thought of, the kitchen fully equipped, washing machine, ironing board, TV, radio and lots of local information. The owners left us some milk, chocolate and prosecco as it was Christmas. It was also really quiet and honestly we couldn't fault it.
Cons: It might be worth taking a blanket as the lounge was a little draughty on chilly evenings.

No shower head to wash hair No access to table and chair outside as it was in the courtyard parking area

Pros: Amy on reception (and serving our evening meal and checking us out in the morning) was excellent - so friendly and helpful. The room was both spotless and had everything we required. The bed was very comfortable. The location is great for a short walk into both Matlock Bath and Matlock. Parking was excellent (we had bicycles on a towbar based rack and there was plenty of room. We had evening meal in the restaurant and it was very very good and good value for money. Will stay here next time we visit Derbyshire.
Cons: Absolutely nothing!
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Not much
Cons: 30 minute wait at reception for a member of staff to check us in. Superior room with no remote for tv and 2 tea bags to last the whole day...
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic location. Easy to find and with lots of free parking. Matlock is a 10 minute walk to the left of the hotel and Matlock Bath 10 minutes to the right! Bar area is very nice and rooms were spacious. Food was first class. A special mention is needed for Amy who single handedly - it would appear - runs the place; she is absolutely fantastic, friendly, very efficient with an excellent sense of humour an absolute treasure to the hotel. We stayed with a group of friends, there were six of us in total and we had a great time. Thank you Amy.
Cons: Nothing much, rooms were not spotless but we were not there to run round even nook and cranny with white gloves! A few fixtures and fittings could do with some attention and general tightening up of securing screws etc.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were absolutely out of this world especially Amy the food was excellent
Cons: Nothing to say
5.8 Okay
Pros: Great location - only 10 minutes stroll into town centre. Very quiet at night despite main road. Member of staff friendly and welcoming.

Cons: The wooden beams were a little dusty in the bathroom and the mattress was a little hard for my liking but we are all different and this certainly does not let the place down just personal preference.

Cons: Room did not have windows which could open so it was very stuffy at night.
