My husband and I stayed at this hotel resort for 2 nights, 3 days - July 2009. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere of this hotel was wonderful. Beautiful location and setting. The lagoon access room we reserved was wonderful. One of 3 infinity pools was right off of our balcony - perfect! Room was well stocked, clean and comfortable - definitely 5 star. The outdoor facilities (swimming pools, pool side service, water sports) were great! Many complimentary water sports to take part in - water aerobic class, kayaking and snorkelling to name a few . The sea was a bit rough the first and third day but the water temps were perfect! Gardens were in immaculate shape! While at the beach free towels were offered to use and also a small cooler with water, mister and cold facecloths! However not all the restaurants were open and the ones that were open were not all that exceptional which is what you would expect from a 5 star hotel which is as expensive as the Al Bustan.. The 2 restaurants that we ate at - Al Khiran (sp?) Restaurant and China Mood Restaurant were not exceptional - they were expensive and did not offer high quality food although the service was good. We had breakfast included in our room rate and there was a good variety of foods at breakfast and overall the breakfast was very good. China Mood restaurant was expensive and the portions were small and the food wasn't all that good. My husband was not impressed! Al Khiran (spelling?) had an Italian theme on Thursday night but there was no buffet only a la carte or set menu...again not terribly Italian nor tasty! This was also expensive.
I stayed in this hotel in August 2012. It was the hot off season for Muscat, so the hotel gave me an excepionally low rate. This was the best deal I have revieved from a Ritz Carleton ever. Great pool and beach area. Hotel lobby very nice. However, the food was only average.
The incredibly beautiful rooms and grounds; the food which was for the most part gourmet; the extremely professional staff; the location/beach Value for the money....it was definitely on the expensive side.
courtesy of the staff, design and quality, attention to detail, feeling special
The friendliness and efficiency of the staff - nothing was too much trouble. Food was great. The setting is not ideal being near to a factory but other than on the beach you can't see it. The beach is average.
Stunning contemporary hotel with as real luxury feel.
the gardens were amazing and the breakfast buffet fantastic and included in the price the rooms had showers only it was a shame there was no baths, the lighting made if difficult to see however made the rooms look great. The room design was all about making them look fantastic but they lack practicalities like some where to put clothes or hang towels. The hotel is on the beach but it's not a pretty spot there are better beach hotels like the omani dive centre
health club price
Relaxation, good spa, excellent gym, very good dining lack of private beach
The breackfast buffet didn't have as many choices as other 5 star hotels I have been to.
Club Room offered excellent value for money and staff were very helpful and efficient
Muscat is a low-key location. It's ideal for a relaxing break if you don't want to spend a lot of time touring sights and shopping. The hotel staff were always friendly. We booked a club room to take advantage of the lounge facilities. The complimenary breakfast was simple but adequate, while evening canapes were poor and not worth the room price. I also got severe dysentry from the Christmas Day buffet so staff hygiene is clearly a concern. Our biggest frustration was effort to get our bill after each meal. It took repeated requests and >15 mins every time.
hotel design and layout is great, specially the pool side. Very inmature staff and inexperienced, the check in took us 2 hours and we had to change all room categories in order to get connecting rooms despite my request earlier. My credit card was charged three times (by mistake!) so i ended up paying triple the amount
The Hotel is very relaxng, well laid out and is enjoyable to stay at.
The shower in the room, most standard room in most five star hotel don't have separate shower that's one thing the other thing is restaurant with the swimming pool togethere, I've been some of the five star hotels and some of them only have bars along the pool area and the kitchen is in side the hotel, especially in big cities. Yes, I don't like the room because no kettle to make tea or coffee, no hair dryer.
The relaxing atmosphere & the nice beach To start with, the hotel ended up charging me 150 omani rials extra upon checking out. I did tell them about it 4 days ago & they still have not resolved it. Your beach is easily & frequently accessed by construction workers who walk along the beach during their lunch breaks. I do not believe this is acceptable & makes your guests uncomfortable especially the ladies. The hotel was way too expensive for the services offered. For that price I could get into a more luxurious hotel in Dubai where I live.
the L.tea lounge and the bar the location of my room was on the top of ball room, and was noisy at night.
Plesant Staff Internet not working in the room. 2 irons not working eventually the third did. Shower pole was juse a hanger that fell down.
i didn't like the bedsheet it was really bad. also the room is tooooooooooo small even the chair even for 4 star hotel its enough 3 star.
Good hotel with complete services available around the clock. Rooms are showing some age (bedding, in particular.)
Staff were friendly room size was very small
The location of the hotel is very practical if you are on a self-drive holiday. Located at a major road, shopping, sight seeing and the beaches are all easy to reach. The breakfast buffet is reasonable and filling. Important since Muscat offers practically no restaurants besides the ones that are located in international hotels. Generous room sizes and clean. Facilities are old (gym and pool for instance are not worth visiting at all).
The hotel is conveniently located in the business district. My room (executive suite) was spacious, the lobby is comfortable - the price for Omani standards reasonable The swimming pool was dirty and dangerous because of pieces of broken glass in the water. The whole "wellness area" is dirty and not well looked after The restaurant and its evening buffet was just O.K., nothing to write home about it
In the business district, close to the coast, near to the major road. Very nice large bedroom suites, comfy bed! No alcohol, some menu items not available.
1. Loved the Staff very nice especially @ the reception. 1. Toilets could do better (cleaning) 2. Wi-Fi was always down 3. They could provide Maps & directions 4. Breakfast could be made more interesting
Haffa House is a nice hotel for families to stay in, it's calm and decent. The quality of the service is not really of a 4 star category hotel. During our stay the swimming pool was closed which upset us.
Good Hotel in the middle of the city. 4 Stars suffecient for my needs. I enjoyed the stay. The price is good compared to other hotels in the city.
Very good location and the food was excellent the price
the atmosphere, room service and quality
The situation overlooking the Arabian Sea. Convenient for airport and town. Satisfied overall
Service and facilities were really excellent - it took a while but eventually on check-in they found my reservation and were exceedingly polite and helpful. The hotel was beautiful and the staff very helpful. No.
Beliggenheden og udsigten The hotel is worn and was overbooked. The elevator was always busy, it was not possible to get a table outside the restaurant not even morning or evening. Had booked a smoking room but it was not possible to open any window at the room, which is making the room unbearable to stay in, even for a smoker.
we liked the hotels stunning location on a cliff looking out over the ocean and the restaurant at the cliff edge Pool needs updating/refurbishing, didn't like the fact that we couldn't open the bedroom window
The sea view rooms, the large size of rooms, the breakfast buffert Poor bar and snack outlets
- Very nice location not too far from Muscat. Very suitable both for business and pleasure. Nice hotel garden with swimmingpool with ocean views. Private hotel beach. 4 restaurants in the hotel. - Quatity is good and very authenic Omanian. Price hoever is pretty international.
The staff was very friendly and helpful with the luggage and they were very patient The bed linens need to be upgraded to match the other Crown Plaza hotel's linens
Spacious, comfortable rooms, good quality beds and products. The fact that we were not told that the full buffet breakfast was inc in our cost until the 3rd day!!!
Sheeting on bed had holes in. Staff at checkin were very unhelpful
The club house
Everything you need available 24hrs, beautiful views and gardens Expensive
The room was a bit over priced for the age of the hotel. In room entertainment was inadequate since the TV was many years passed it's prime. The addition of the DVD player was a plus.
Located within easy walking distance of nice selection of coffee shops and shops. Friendly staff and locals. Whilst clean, the room was dated. For the price it was not good value for money.
The Service of the people, they just go out of their way to serve you. The hotel is well designed and decorated and the rooms are that too. It was a comfortable experience as a whole.
Facilities were great but the bar and food prices were a bit on the expensive side. The staff were excellent and I would recommend this hotel to anyone. We will use it again.
Location Very noisy outside and dark hotel.
My room was on the second floor and had a nice view of the sea. However even though I am a platinum member with Holiday Inn (same group), I was not allowed access to the club floor lounge and there were no upgrades or any perks allowed. I think that the Holiday Inn group need to examine their policies regarding an upgrade because in any other Intercontinental hotel there is always an upgrade but not in this one. This hotel just does the minimum needed and their customer service is not very friendly or helpful. One needs to ask for a higher floor because the hotel has a nightclub on the lower level and you can hear the "thump" "thump" of the drums as late as 3AM in the morning. The concierge does not have information about restaurants and tours and the hotel is very unhelpful about giving information about independent operator tours. There is no doorman to help with your luggage which I thought of a strange for a five star hotel
The friendliness and effiency of the staff the perfect location and the excellent food
Courteous staff, prompt service, wide variety of choices from the room service menu, although it is on the pricier side. However, the food is really good. An item from the minibar was missing (not taken by me) and I was charged for it. However, after telling the front office staff that the item was not taken by me, it was removed from my bill.
The staff was quite helpful. Once they found out it was our honeymoon, they graciously upgraded our room to business class and popped for two free drinks in the bar. First of all, if you're coming to Muscat for a getaway, don't stay in this neighborhood. It's quite urban and far from everything, including the cute old town area. The hotel calls itself a 4-star but it is barely a 3-star. We were upgraded to a business class room upon arrival and when we walked into the room we were extremely disappointed; we would have been disappointed had it been a regular room. The rooms were small, outdated, and not comfortable. There was mold in the bathtub and the bath products left our hair dry and brittle. Worst of all, the staff messed up our massage reservations so we were unable to have massages on our honeymoon. All in all, our stay was a major disappointment.
My time in the hotel was brief as I had a full agenda but the business centre was very useful mid trip. Courtesy and value for money ranked highly.
the apple a day thing... the bed pillows...too high/thick
Nothing Gave me the wrong room and had to enter on someones else room. At the reservation they said at the beginning thatthere is no booking done and had charged me a much higher rate. Then they found that they had a problem and
Clean, comfortable rooms & friendly staff . The hotel is in a convenient location for the Airport and popular areas, such as the beach & shopping malls. The Tajin restaurant was particularly good value for money and the level of customer service far exceeded our expectations. exceptionally good. The fact that they blocked a large amount of money from our credit card for the reservation, without making this clear at the time of check-in.
More of a business hotel. Staff could not give me a bill because the hotel room we paid for in advance. I thought its odd that I cannot get a zero balance bill in case there are issue that come up later. Duty manager helped sort this out however.
The rooms, coffee and the food at Olivos was phenomenal
Staff was very friendly and helpful!
Nice room. Ex-high price, higher than 5* hotels in Dubai.Very smal parking area, open parking in this v.hot country?! Average restaurant and meals.
Their pool is wonderful and the Olivios Cafe had fantastic food. The prices were a little expensive.
Staff professional treat Food for room service sucks, internet connection disappointing and prices are over rated.
The courtesy of Omani staffs in the Hotel The hotel is very old, needs a complete revamp. The size of the room is very small for the amount charged. The furniture in the room are very old. There is no feel good factor when staying in the hotel
Staff were lovely and the food in the coffee shop was very good The hotel is very dated and badly decorated. It is extremely expensive for what it is. It was at best, a 3 star hotel, not 4 star as advertised. For that price, I should have spent a little more and booked a Hyatt or Sheraton.
We had a room were it faced the Indian church and they had festival going on the entire time.(very noicy and loud) We had one towel in the room and had to call for more , twice. Since the festival was going on the parking lot was full and there was no parking. The Hotel chrges of tourist fee and service charge is so expensive(might wanna mentioned the % in the hotel description)
Nice clean room, good breakfast, nice pool. Location not good for beach.
This is a good and clean hotel with excellent housekeeping services. The staff were helpful and there is also adequate parking within the hotel complex. The hotel should invest a bit in promoting the different facilities of the hotel i.e. during check-in, the staff should speak about the Japanese restaurant, pool timings, pastry shop etc.
The Japanese Restaurant on the top floor is excellent. Cheap internet access. Decent selection at breakfast. It is also centrally located for exploring old Muscat and beyond. On our first night the noise from the pub "Nuts and Bolts" was horrendous with the Music booming right through the building. We were on the 4th floor and i would hate to think what it would have been like on a lower floor. This was a Thursday night (it went on until 3am) and thankfully we did not hear it again for the rest of our stay.
Cleanliness & services are really good. For business travellers, we need wireless internet services, in the room or in lobby or even in the restaurant. Other than business centre there is no wire less internet service. Dial up services in the room is very poor, you dail up today and you may get the connection tomorrow ( Insha Allah )
We were given a quiet room on the 6th non smoking floor and we had a panoramic view south across Muscat. The hotel has an outdoor pool which is quite adequate and is close to the old parts of Muscat with the souks and palace The outdoor sunloungers are of the cheap plastic type
Nice swimming pool and the gym was good
It is a decent family Hotel for short stays...
Pleasant hotel, clean but in need of refurbishment. Staff were very polite and welcoming. Convenient location for airport which is ideal for the business traveller. Bar is lacking in atmosphere. I thought the bar lacked atmosphere, however as I only stayed for one drink this was not a problem
Very limited choice of restaurants and not normal Golden Tulip standard of food
It was close to the airport This hotel it too expensive for what a dump it is. This is a hotel that should have be either raised or totally remodeled a long time ago.
poor check in / check out, but apart from that.... very good.
Could not Check in until 1am! I arrived at the hotel at 11pm!
only stayed at your hotel for 7 hours, while waiting for later flight home in London. The room was fine, and the evening buffet was excellent! However the reason we stayed with you, was to send words, pictures, and video to London. Myself and my travelling companion are both journalists, and were working from the Hotel. We found your internet service very poor and slow, and for most people working from a Hotel away from home or office, internet speed is of paramount importance. if you want to attract business people to your Hotel, internet speed, ease, and access in your rooms is very important!
hotel staff is cold. swimming pool is cold. furnitures in the room are old. BUT prices are high. I really don't understand why it is a 4 stars hotel !
Close to Airport and Exhibition Car Parking space is not enough
proximity to airport cost
