The hotel's fantastic facilities made the short stay quite memorable. Eating at the hotel's restaurant was a highlight of our stay. The room we had was excellent although quite small. I knew it was one of the standard rooms, but have stayed in better for an equal or lesser price.
Glorious view Nothing, but bath could be difficult for some
Convenience to center. staff frienliness
This is a beautiful luxury hotel in a perfect location on the beach in Saint-Jean-de-Luz. The service was extremely friendly and professional. Though the spa is beautiful, it could use a somewhat larger and better equipped fitness room. It would be nice to have a price for a room with breakfast included.
Great location just on the beach. Valet parking was excellent. Nice Aircon. A very comfy bed with a duck feathered mattress. We decided to pay for the entertainment package on the tv which stated that we would get free internet service with this. Its false advertisment as you have to buy credit for the wifi.
the way we were greeted on arrival. a little rushed to dinner
a nice building in a quite area next to the centre with a good ocean view nothing is included in the over priced rates, for example breakfast 26 euro, garage 20 euro, pool and sauna 30 euro
Lovely hotel with very comfortable and well equiped rooms, and a fantastic location right by the beach. The terrace is a great place to have a relaxing before dinner drink. Having to pay to use the pool.
Having visited St Jean de Luz before I have always wanted to stay at the hotel and it met all my expectations. Thank you. Was disappointed the Restaurant was closed for Dinner.I Hope to revisit . No
We were placed in a corner room with views from two sides; we could awake in the mornin g to the sound of the surf. Wonderful experience in a very nicely appointed room. Breakfast seemed on the pricey side!
Excellent location, comfortable rooms and friendly staff. Certainly will come back again!
The room was great but the bed was a bit to hard for my wife We did not have any problems durring our stay
excellent position for access to town and beach. Lovely looking spa but quite expensive for a familly staying for a long weekend- would be ok for couples
Facilities on offer within the hotel and its position in the centre of the town Could do with a bit of an uplift as the decor was a little 'tired'
first room smelt of smoke
Free internet access No tea or coffee making facilities in the room
Overall really enjoyed staying at this hotel. The only downsides were that there was no parking despite this being included in the specs on the site and the 'garden' of the garden room was a rooftop overlooking other buildings.
Clean, comfortable and welcoming Breakfast was not value for money. Only one member of staff available for most of the time, the othere was delivering to rooms. €15.00 definitely not value for money.
certain members of staff were unhelpful and confrontational. They should not shout at their guests but try to help them enjoy their stay.
very central and very comfortable
Restaurant and pool area very nice, good food in the restaurant. A little way out of town by car Rooms were a bit shabby and no air con or fan
Friendly, polite and helpful. Good buffet breakfast and evening meals. After the first night the spare toilet roll and the plastic cups were removed, also the shoeshine block was not replaced after being used and disposed of.
Good location, very clean, excellent food, lovely patio at the back Both room and bathroom were quite small and only one pillow each provided
Good restaurant for dinner & breakfast The description "1km from town" should more accurately have been 2km from the centre
Was good value although room small but with free parking it gave us the opportunity to explore the area
The very pleasant receptionist made us welcome. The room was exceptionally clean and comfortable. The restaurant well appointed. Could have had more in the way of toiletries in the bathroom but this a minor point.
It was well located. There was little cupboard space in the room.
It wasn't noisy at night. Staff were pleasant. Hotel is too far from town - 2kms. It is very worn and tired, needing a renovation if it wants to keep 2 stars next to its name. Room in eaves meaning you couldn't stand upright on one side of the bed - where the luggage rack is kept too, which was a nuisance. Bathroom is small and badly designed - can't sit on the toilet with the door closed unless you are under 6 years old.
Staff very efficient and welcoming.
Lovely old biulding. Accommodation a bit quirky, but we like that. Very handy for the centre of St Jean de Luz which we have visited many times over 25 years. First time in a hotel in town and not dissappointed No
Nothing No parking available; impossible to sleep with window open and no air conditioning
very helpful staff
This was a comfortable hotel which I will certainly stay at again. It is conveniently situated a short walk from the port and beach. It is easy to get to from Biarritz airport. There are signs of upgrading since my last visit (10 yrs. ago) - a large plasma TV and a just delivered minibar that I filled with m yorange squashes et. -
Receptionist fluent in english, mature and helpful
The rooms were charming and we found the service to be friendly and helpful.
Beautiful antique decor, comfortable beds, extremely friendly and welcoming staff, convenient location
Our hosts were very helpful and accommodating. We were pleasantly surprised by the size of the rooms. This is a grand old hotel, kept very clean, with an old world lobby that would have been nice to spend time in had the weather not been so excellent! There were no surprise charges. The Wi-fi was not compatible with my North American Windows notebook despite my best attempts (and I work in the business). There was no technical support available to confirm settings. However, the lobby computer worked fine and was generally not busy during this shoulder season stay.
Convenience of location and friendliness of staff
A nice slean hotel with a plesant ambience and good location
easy to find, welcoming staff clean with everything i needed nothing
New hotel, efficient, clean, much nicer than some of the ie formulae one / etaps , which are just a bit too basic for us.Accepts dogs, and good place to walk .very security conscious.very comfy bed No English lang Sat channel. Just one news would be ok !
Breakfast, cleanliness and facilities (hairdryer) Shower attachment not high enough
Excellent breakfast very clean and modern excellent location Bad position to find restaurants
easy to find, polite stuff, nice experience
Nearness to St Jean de Luz\ and swimming pool Beds a little unconfortable
Near to town. Near to Golf Course. Concern about no apparent staff presence between 20.00 hours and 08.00 hours in case of emergency.
large comfortable, clean and quiet rooms with very practicle kitchen. Close to shope and motorway and private indoor parking facilities.
Very helpful staff and eager to please Hotel is located by an intersection - noisy all day and in particular at night (mopeds) plus a minor thing but the curtains in the room were too small and thus left a gap in the middle (about 10inches wide) when pulled. Rather annoying.
good staff disposition. The bathroom is horrible, with the WC in a separated room.
The apartment was spacious and clean. The pool was great for the children. A play area and some grass for children would have been nice. More communal irons.
It was clean, close to the town of St Jean de Luz and it was quiet at night The laundry room was not open long enough hours
Accessible & clean. No, all OK.
Staff were friendly and helpful The bed(s) were not made up on arrival
It was close enough to the town. Good facilities. Spacious apartments. Helpful staff. There was no bar.
Great location. Lovely grounds. Good path walk into the town along the sea front. Great views from our room. Kitchenette was miniscule but had the basics. We thought it was a little overpriced for an "apartment". 10 Euros extra charge for each dog
a superb hotel. pretty new, stylish and quiet. located 20min walk from the center of the town on a cliff. Great views of nature.
The setting was very peaceful & the views lovely.
The location and site. Dinner in the restaurant was poor value for money. The accommodation was also expensive.
Beautiful setting, lovely grounds, good facilities - infinity pool overlooking the sea, tennis. Very relaxing and comfortable stay. Short (15 minutes) panoramic walk into the delightful port of St Jean de luz. Buffet breakfast was not kept warm.
Peace and quiet, weather and the walks to the town. Sunbathing by the pool although far too cold to get in. No air-conditioning in our room.
The Hotel is set in the most beautiful surroundings and with outstanding views poor breakfast food cold and although a dog owner object to sharing my meals with other people's dogs
View from room. Staff unhelpful, poor poor breakfast, no atmosphere in hotel , very poor bar bright lights . Service poor generally disliked hotel. Also put of way from town.
The hotel had an excellent location and lovely grounds and swimming pool. Infestation of mosquitos and flying ants which delivered bites at night. Our telepnone rang with one or two rings at 1.45 and 5.30 am which wakened us. The bedroom furniture and bedding was not up to the standard we were paying for.
Conveniently located, great staff, nice comfortable rooms.
Very high standard of cleanliness. Has just been remodelled. Unfortunately paid 10 euro extra for the buffet breakfast on the first day which I thought was a bit sparse. e.g. 1 hard boiled egg and 2 slices of ham and hardly any juice laid out. ~On second morning did notice that the buffet appeared to be more plentiful although we did not have breakfast.
The efficiency of the staff, the comfort of the rooms which were large and well appointed.Being opposite the station for the TGV to Paris was great. The small town of St Jean de Luz is a gem for holiday makers. Everything was top notch.
We received a warm welcome. The staff and management were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in an excellent position and within walking distance of many restaurants. Madame prepared scrambled eggs for breakfast and made good coffee. Room was small
The comfort and peacefullnerss. I have already sent a glowing report to the Qualys organisation.
Very friendlly staff, very clean & comfortable room, v close to the town centre, beach etc No bar! (But not really an issue given the hotel is right near the town centre with all the bars & restaurants)
A brilliant location and conformtable, well decorated rooms No - parking is a small challenge but manageable and inevitable in this town
1) The central location in St Jean de Luz, you walk out of the hotel and into the shopping street, two minutes walk from the Louis XIV Place with several Cafés and restaurants. 2) Comfortable bed. 3) nice bathroom and excellent towels. 4) I guess it was the owner and his wife who were very helpfull to arrange a taxi to go to the restaurant in Ciboure. 1) Acces to the hotel by car and drop-off bags before parking the car. 2) No airconditioning and even in October far too warm in the room. 3) As the hotel is very central, with open windows it was a bit noisy especially early in the morning. 4) Breakfast is overpriced (which was not included in the room price).
A charming, small hotel in perfect location for "doing" St Jean de Luz. Rooms very comfortable and very clean. N/A
Being in the center of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, it was an easy walk to good restaurants, the beach and other attractions. Trying to drive to the hotel. Hotel is on pedestrianized street so visitors should not drive to drive to the hotel.
Beautiful location overlooking a very pretty French square. Well placed for the beach and the town. Room small but perfectly adequate with a lovely balcony onto the square. Good modern bathroom. Very helpful owners. Recommended for couples.
A great deal of thought and attention to detail has gone into this hotel. The towels and bedlinen were luxurious and the bathrooms spotless.
It was a lovely 10 minute walk along promenade into town centre, a walk we enjoyed a couple of times a day! Also spa in hotel was really nice. Beds were huge and really comfortable. Had a great weekend in Biarritz!!
beds were comfortable Reception staff were good at check-in. Concierge staff make a very good effort waited 15 minutes for valet to get my car, while other guests were more important. during this time, one valet was loading another guests car, another was told by the reception to take bags to a room, although I had pointed out that I had been waiting for my car for a long time. food was extortionately expensive. breakfast quickly became boring. room service most expensive, and most limited I have ever come across. we once tried to have lunch at the hotel, but despite asking the restaurant hostess to point out to the staff that we had been at our table for a long time, with no service, we eventually just left, having not had our order taken, and run out of time in our schedule.
The location was superb right on the sea front . Rooms quite spacious with comfortable beds and bedding. The indoor and outdoor pools were heated with plenty of sunbeds
location rude waiter at dinner (didn't eat there again); no hair conditioner in bathroom
The bedrooms were extremely comfortable and tastefully furnished. The pool area and spa were fantastic with wonderful views over the crashing waves. It is a wonderful beach location. We were led to believe from the web site that all rooms had sea views. This is totally wrong and you only get a sea view if you pay a premium price. We were disappoointed to be given a room at the side of the hotel immediately above the staff smoking area. This was our biggest complaint. Our other complaint was the cost of meals in the hotel. Breakfast was 28 euros each and we were not prepared to spend another 56 euros every day for breakfast, so we were reluctantly forced to go out for breakfast every day. Had breakfast been more realistically priced at say 15 to 20 euros per person then we would have had breakfast in the hotel.
Location and ocean-side views over-priced food and drinks
Everything the service and room was excellant no
Overall the service was impeccable. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The quality and cleanliness of the rooms is second to none. I have stayed at this hotel before and will do again - I look forward to it. For some reason this time, the breakfast service was poor. The staff were 'distant' and seemed to be falling out amongst themselves. On one day, we didn't get our coffee for about 20 minutes and on another, the restaurant ran out of plates, so people were putting bread, cooked breakfast etc in a cereal bowl. There seemed to be no urgency, nor desire to provide a good service. This was a pity and contrary to every other service in the hotel.
The location of the hotel is excellent, overlooking the beach and not too long a walk to restaurants. Pool area is excellent. Room very comfortable. Food and drinks in the hotel are very expensive.
Staff were most helpful, polite & courteous We weren't advised before the stay that works were being undertaken at the hotel, the hotel was enclosed in scaffolding, our room therefore had no views.
Location over looking both Biarritz La Phare Golf course and Biarritz coast. Clean and quiet swimming pool. Great service. 20 up hill walk back from centre of Biarritz. Cost of drinks - 9 Euros for 50cl Biere.
Good location with good parking. None
Well placed and a very good hotel. The room we had was excellent Bathroom in the suite was not good. The bath was too narrow and shower door inadequate meaning that when using the shower it sprayed everywhere which made it a safety hazard. It would not stop me using the hotel again.
Beautiful old building that was unfortunately still under renovation. Many parts of the hotel were showing signs of age (the pool for example), but they were actually the mid-century additions or fixtures. I'm curious to see the hotel after the renovations are finished.
Go to beach
Everything, first class hotel. Staff helpful and friendly. Good location. Old world charm and character about the hotel building. Everything was excellent.
The hotel was clean and was quietly situated but convenient for restaurants, shops and golf. Nothing
The room was spacious, well equiped and very comfortable.
Excellent location, near the beach and close to all facilities in the town. Spotless, well equipped, very comfortable hotel. Staff friendly and helpful. Noisy at night and early morning as our room faced the road. Could not leave the window open. No doubt quieter rooms facing rear / side of hotel but fully booked.
The decor of the hotel was remarkably charming. Breakfast in the beautiful garden terrace was a perfect way to start the day. Management and staff were discretely attentive and helpful from our arrival until our departure. The hotel was very quiet and very comfortable meeting all of our needs.
The original decor and furnishings, the immaculate state of the room and hotel, cleanliness, etc, the helpfulness of the proprietors with local advice, the quiet location just 50 meters from the beach within the town centre. No
Great location. Comfortable bed. Room & hallway somewhat dark. Staff not very informative/helpful with transportation arrangements. Could get free Wi-Fi connection to work.
Friendliness of the proprietors and excellent breakfast
Excellent staff, friendly and helpful. Close to the beach, medium choices for restaurants, we have found better. Although late on arrival, very understanding people. French breakfast, but it's not particular for this hotel, but for french breakfast in general :).
Very friendly and helpful staff, nicely designed interior, very good breakfast, good location near the beach and the town centre Car parking is a problem
Very professional, personable, approachable and helpful inkeepers -- excellent++; made helpful recommendations and offered to contact restaurants without us having to ask. Rooms were nicely decorated and had the feel of staying in someone's home. Very clean french b and b in an excellent location.
Great location, extremely friendly owners, great breakfast, very comfortable room, very cosy. Cleaning staff in the morning were a bit rude kicking us out of the room in order to clean.
Great Location, and a professional and frendly welcome from the owner Mr. Jack wich will give a support to all your needs and questions Very clean room .
Its location, traditional charm and atmosphere of rooms and communal areas A small point but perhaps some of the door handles and locks in our room need attention
It was quiet No tea/coffee making facilities in room
Peaceful location with easy parking in private car park or on road if full. The uphill walk or approx 100 steps from the seafront to the hotel.
The breakfast was the best we had on our entire trip. It was the highlight of our visit to your hotel. The bed was too short and worn.
The welcoming, helpful but unobtrusive staff, the charming character of the building, the excellent facilities and the night-time quietness of the location, even though it was only a five minute walk from the beach and a ten minute walk from the town centre. The free parking is a major bonus in St Jean! A Only one set three-course meal for dinner, which could have provided problems for those who did not like all three courses, but the food offered each night was superbly cooked.
Location - excellent; Room size and bathroom - good. Staff welcome was good, but response to problem during stay was not.
Very comfortable and well sized room. Great location in a quiet area easily accessible by car but only 5 minutes walk from the beach and 10 minutes from the town.
Hotel was very quiet with just a couple of other guests. Warm and friendly atmosphere. Short walk to centre of town. Breakfast very good. Room very good but bathroom was quite small. Spotlessly clean.
The staff were really nice, friendly and helpful. The bedroom and bathroom were really clean and there is a lovely garden. You can park in the hotel grounds aswell. The is a bit of a hill into the town. There was a really old musty smell in the houses which i found unbearable but the houses are gearing towards old world charm.
quiet street. sea ish view room décor outdated. ripped wall paper poor shower. long way up hill and quite expensive
nothing the so called suite was small room and very very overpriced hotel is very shabby bahtroom was modernized only good thing
The staff and the quests. wi fi access was not available in the room and the process of connection seemed complicated.
