In a week room only serviced twice when we asked
Pros. I liked how spacious the room was, the free breakfast, and the parking was close to the entrance
Cons. I didn't like that the room that I booked (King), wasn't what I received (Double Queen), The room was smoke free, but smelt like smoke as soon as you entered, and the room was so warm and had no way to control the heat other than 2 other temperatures. This was good for a one night stay, for which we used the room to get ready for a concert and sleep
Pros. Interearing, historic building with really cool design. Very unique. Comfortable beds. Free parking. Free breakfast was decent. Had all the amenities I was looking for (pool/hot tub, business center). Decent location, depending on your needs.
Cons. The main problem, and for me this was a big problem, was security. Our room was located right next to an exterior door in the very back corner of the hotel, which opens up to the back parking lot. We noticed right away that the lock was broke and so anyone could enter without needing a key card. This wouldn't have been a huge problem accept the door to our room did not shut and lock without pulling it tightly closed behind us. We also noticed this right away and made sure it was locked any time we left. The room cleaners, however, did not. After a day out we returned (through the unlocked exterior door) and could see right as we walked in that our hotel room door was noticeably ajar. We went in and made sure that none of our belongings were missing and that no weirdos were hiding in the closet, and very luckily everything was fine. The worst part was that the lady at the front desk, although very nice and smiley, seemed completely oblivious to the situation they put us in. When I told her about the broken lock on the exterior door she seemed shocked, then later went on to tell me that she actually ordered a new lock earlier that day. Call me crazy but one thing I really expect out of a hotel is at least a little bit of security and safety. I can't help but wonder what they would have done if anything had been stolen from our room. At any rate, if you're staying in room 118, make sure that all the staff know they need to take extra care to make sure your door is locked, or at least closed all the way.
