10.0 Excellent
Pros: When we pulled up the Portman was waiting with a smile. He was prompt, helpful and extremely kind. He set the mood for our whole stay.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: My sister and I planned a kayak trip on the St. Croix and wanted a nice place to sleep after a long day of hiking and exploring. The Lora exceeded our expectations. We were very pleased with the design, art, and decor. We have a fondness for the caves that the hotel used as part of its architecture. We used to visit the caves when we were younger and walk up the stairs to look over the city. We were also thrilled with The Feller. We like fresh local foods with vegetarian options. We didn't eat anywhere else. Thank you for a wonderful experience!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lots of character retained with modern amenities. Staff was great and location can’t be beat.
Cons: The room was small with just a stool to sit on. But it was beautiful, clean and comfortable.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: Room lighting could be improved. it was a little dark.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfy beds, clean, great location
6.3 Good
Pros: Bathroom was lovely with good water pressure and the staff was pleasant. They knew we had just gotten married and send up a bottle of white wine but we googled it and it sold for $7-10 a bottle, which is such a cheap thing to if you’re going to offer wine, especially for the amount of money per night we spent. Not with it.
Cons: No one told us we would pretty much be forced to valet because of the location. The only parking is street parking and walking down the street with my suitcase in my wedding dress was not an option. We were charged $65 for 2 days plus tipping. For the money, the room was nothing special.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved the historical feel to the hotel. The downtown location allowed us to walk anywhere without worrying about taking the car.
Cons: Parking is an issue, especially if there is an event going on in town for the weekend. It would be nice to have a better view, other than the side of the building we saw from our window.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Awesome decor, comfortable, great staff, excellent location
Cons: Street noise from bedroom
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lighting could be brighter. Hanging clothes above the alcohol tray was a bit precarious! Plugging into a power strip disconcerting. Lovely view!!! It would be nice to read about the history of the building/area. Your staff were not able to tell us much.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very clean rooms and lobby. The restaurant was delicious and I loved that it was attached to the room.
Cons: No complimentary breakfast. The hot tub jets weren’t working but hot tub wasn’t still very warm and relaxing.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Front desk attendant was very welcoming and friendly. Room was clean and spacious, and very well maintained. Had fridge, microwave, coffee maker.
Cons: Unfortunately it REEKED of chlorine because they put me in a room connected to the pool, which I wasn't told about. That and the noise from the pool that went on PAST pool hours was right inside my bedroom, and I accumulated a migraine quickly. Five hours of loud, echoing screams and voices from the pool, right inside my bedroom. The ONLY thing I had requested a quiet room, and this was the opposite. The chlorine smell burned my throat and I developed a rash on my legs, as there was so much in the air. (I have an allergy). Barely got any sleep, and felt completely sick with a throbbing headache in the morning. This was very disappointing, as I had finished 12 hours of outdoor labor and just wanted a quiet evening of rest and a good night's sleep. I paid over $130 to NOT get sleep and become ill and even more stressed out.
5.4 Okay
Pros: House keeper was friendly!
Cons: Internet worked sometimes,
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved the pool area and how my room opened up directly to the pool.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The room was nice and right by the pool witch was great for the kids to go in and out from the pool area and made it very easy for us as parents
Cons: The loud party that kept my kids and us up till past 1am but staff was very nice about making it right and making sure we were happy before leaving

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Loved the home-cooked breakfast foods and that the staff made us our own eggs. The location was great. We took advantage of being only a 10 minute drive from St. Croix Winery.
6.3 Good
Pros: We always had clean towels and there were normal sized body wash and shampoo and conditioner in shower for guest to use.
Cons: We had a double room upstairs and Saturday morning my friends that were staying in the smaller room with the futon bed woke up with a very bad leak from the ceiling. So I was very dissatisfied with that and not to my knowledge did any one come and do anything about it when they went downstairs and told the desk clerk about it.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: It is a beautiful old lodge and grounds
8.0 Excellent
Cons: A lot of interior work is needed especially our room. Water damage on the ceiling and cracked, chipping paint. Smelled like wet basement. It is a very old property though and looks it. It was quiet and the breakfast was good.

Pros: The staff were very helpful, laid back atmosphere and breakfast was delicious! I’d recommend to anyone staying in Stillwater!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the location--it's an amazing historical house that has been lovingly updated and made into an English manor type home. The staff and breakfast were great. We'll definitely go back there!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was very friendly. The breakfast was amazing!
Cons: The mattress was too soft.
6.3 Good
Pros: Beautiful grounds and gardens
Cons: I expected the rooms to be more renovated than they were. The mattress was too soft. Also it was very hot and muggy. There was a window air conditioner and a ceiling fan in the room, but it was still too warm.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was delicious. We loved the quiet atmosphere and the fact that it was close to both Minneapolis and Stillwater. Would highly recommend this bed and breakfast!
10.0 Excellent

5.0 Okay
Cons: I never saw a staff person. I paid for the hotel, but they let another person check in and get the key card. They never saw my ID. For all that hotel staff knew, they could have given the key to the person stalking my daughter for the last 5 Years.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was awesome. Adjoining enclosed porch was great
Cons: Would have liked a small TV in the room or porch although we "survived quite well" by reading and enjoying the quiet. Small bar soap would be better than the squeeze packs. Bathroom door vs the sliding curtain would be a great improvement.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Rachelle, the owner was very friendly. The house was absolutely lovely, so many beautiful details! It was quiet and comfortable. We loved our room with the porch and the swing. The food was delicious! Would definitely go again, AND recommend to friends!!

10.0 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was fantastic! It was really nice to receive the $5 off coupon. We may have not had breakfast there if we didn't have the coupon. So glad we did! I love the decor and feeling of the poperty.
Cons: It would be nice to have a small fridge in the room.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: The bar in the hotel had great entertainment the night we were there and excellent service.
Cons: We should have been told the hotel is basically a construction site. Its a great location and when the work is complete should be a good place to stay. But right now it is a big disappointment. Overpriced for what you have to go through. We did receive a $50 discount off the almost $300 room cost but really would have rather been someplace else.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Helpful front desk staff and manager. Entire experience was amazing, very much enjoyed it and will b returning to this hotel.
Cons: Helpful front desk staff and manager, rooms are very dusty and old, which is in keeping with their whole Victorian vintage vibe. My biggest issue with them is the tvs in all the rooms we stayed at ( we stayed in 3 different rooms) were ancient 32in tub
9.2 Excellent
Pros: breakfast was very good
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: The Water Street Inn is an old hotel close to the St. Croix River in downtown Stillwater. We loved the historical atmosphere and location.
Cons: The night we stayed, there was a wedding reception in the hotel and the music was so loud I could have sworn the band was set up in our dining room. I called the front desk and was told the music would be done by 11:30, but ended up being after midnight.
7.1 Good
Pros: Staff was friendly and location was great
Cons: Needs a good cleaning.
4.2 Okay
Pros: Great location, right next to the St. Croix River in downtown Stillwater.
Cons: We knew about the construction(obstructing views of the water, construction materials taking up most of the parking lot). Our suite(which cost $328.00 a night) had most of the wall paper in the bathroom peeling off the walls, floor tiles stained and dirty, wood work around tub splitting and cracked. Bathroom door wouldn’t close. Queen size bed in a king size bed frame which leaves a significant gap in which a small child could get trapped or injured, and makes it difficult to get in and out of bed. The TV was a small 12” box TV from the early 1990’s. We were here to celebrate my girlfriends birthday. A true letdown for the price and lack of amenities.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The accommodations have beautiful historic charm!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Quaint & comfortable
Cons: Nothing
4.6 Okay
Pros: Close to downtown and river
Cons: Creepy atmosphere. The price was way to much for lack of ammenities. No pool or hot tub. Bar should stay open later. Paid for room with balcony, but didn't get one when we arrived and no discount.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Not much
Cons: The room smelled was not clean under construction and still have not received a refund for the room we booked for the second night.
7.1 Good
Pros: You have a good chef, food was good.
Cons: No dressers for our clothes. No safe All the construction

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lacking choices.
Cons: Stayed two nights and first morning breakfast was meager. Second day couldn't get meager for a grade.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very accommodating staff. I needed a pair of scissors to cut out tattoos for my sisters bachelorette party and they handed me some without even batting an eye.
Cons: No elevator.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was good and there was a decent selection, including make-your-own waffles, eggs and bacon. I would have liked to seen some more healthier choices - like maybe yogurts in the cooler - but overall I was fairly satisfied. The pool area was nice & clean and I appreciated that it had a pool and hot tub for the price. Room size was good. We had two double beds in our room and we were also able to have friends come in to play a game of cards & visit while we relaxed.
Cons: For the most part, I was quite satisfied with the stay for the price. It was a small drive from the downtown & waterfront area, but there were plenty of other businesses in the area, including some restaurants & even a nice brewery less than a mile away.
6.3 Good
Pros: I liked the location to everything in Stillwater. I was about 5 to 10 minutes to most of the main attractions in town. Pretty time of the year to visit Stillwater. Hotel was quiet enough, shower was great with plenty of hot water. Unfortunately, the coffee was weak and had lots of grounds in it. The selection of fresh fruit was only one item. The book in the room said that they sold stamps and had a postal pick up. But, no stamps. All in all, fair stay.
Cons: Breakfast was weak, poor coffee and limited items.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location is convenient to downtown plus other shopping. Breakfast is okay--variety on different days. Staff is really helpful.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Didn't take time to eat there
Cons: Room needs some fresh air..slight funky odor
6.7 Good
Cons: The free breakfast is terrible. Worst we’ve experienced anywhere. Milk was curdled. They only have one 2 slice toaster so imagine the back up that occurs.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was clean, has been maintained well, and is nicely decorated. The front desk staff was pleasant and knowledgeable. The room was spacious and had all standard amenities.
Cons: The breakfast offerings were disappointing, especially when compared to the price we paid for the room. First morning was biscuits and gravy and breakfast sausage, second day I think it was Canadian bacon and eggs, but there were no eggs out.
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Other than this was close to where our event was there was nothing about this I would repeat!
Cons: This room and bathroom were extremely dirty! The toilet wasn’t connected to the floor so every time you used it you felt like you were going to fall over. The shower and toilet had mold in multiple places! The bed was lumpy and hard. In general it was a horrible experience and will not be repeated next year when we visit the area.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Pool and hot tub or very clean overall appearance of the hotel was very nice I like the tile in the pool area and I loved the green doors in the hallway:)
6.7 Good
Pros: The location was perfect.
Cons: The room had obviously been a smoking room at some point and it made breathing difficult.
7.9 Good
Pros: They had a room available when the DUMP next door was too disgusting to stay at soI switched at the last second.. Manger/clerk was excellent.. Thank You for your help..
Cons: Cricket Cicada outside the window were to noisy even for this country dweller..

1.0 Poor
Pros: Location

4.6 Okay
Pros: Ok
Cons: Room should be cleaner
4.2 Okay
Pros: Bed was comfortable.
Cons: Breakfast hours were very short. For what they had I could have got a better meal at the gas station. Rooms were run down and dirty.
5.4 Okay
Pros: I was not aware there was breakfast, so did not have breakfast. The bed was comfortable. The shower had hot water. Air conditioner worked. Staff was polite. location was perfect. parking right outside room
Cons: The room was not as clean as I was hoping. Damage to paint & dings & holes in walls. Light shades damaged. Sheets on bed stained. Had trouble working the TV but then figured it out. Damage to walls in Bathroom. Room lights dim. hard to see unless you open curtains. only had one room swipe card, but had 2 occupants, so could not return without the other person. I wished I would have been more familiar with the city, as I would have booked elsewhere. I actually took pictures of the room inadequacies as I pondered whether my credit card would be charged for the pre-existing damage
2.9 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing!!!
Cons: Everything! The staff are hard to communicate with! Didn't have all of our reservations...thy finally figures it out! And the carpet in the the room felt soggy and stunk and our television in our room did'nt work!

7.5 Good
Pros: The location was great for our purposes, staff very nice
Cons: The place is old and needs repairs and the rooms were small
5.8 Okay
Pros: The beds were comfortable
Cons: Terribly dirty, starting with the smell in our first room, the pool bathroom had hair and old soap pieces all over the floor and there was no toilet paper, the hot tub water had pool water were cloudy and not heated well, the breakfast was very poor! All styrofoam, only sweet rolls, toast, and two cereal options. My daughter wanted oatmeal but the only option I could see was microwaving it in styrofoam. In the reviews dating back, they always respond with “we will look to improve the breakfast” but it is clear that no efforts were being made in this department.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The place, unlike many of the scary reviews, was really nice. The area was descent, I felt safe sleeping there. It was a nice stay.
Cons: The breakfast selection was pretty limited. My girlfriend is gluten intolerant. Gluten makes her stomach hurt and her eyes swell. She couldn't really eat anything from the breakfast.
7.5 Good
Pros: Everything was great but you have the worst pillows. Didn’t sleep at all. Terrible. Front desk person at 3:30 am this morning was awesome. She is extremely polite.
Cons: Pillows are terrible. Won’t stay at another America’s best.
4.2 Okay
Pros: The price compared to Saint Paul Hotel’s
Cons: The place is a dump. The lamp shades are junk. The for at end of hall is locked in violation of fire code. The dining area has been cut up to create two new rooms that they can rent for a profit, the carpet should’ve been replaced three years ago in the hallways junk trash not cleaned dirty the pool area was OK. It is a complete Disaster showing a businessman’s point of view of milk in the business like hell and not putting one time in the place should be removed from your listings it’s criminal activity to tell me I’m going to get America’s best by and put me into a dump.
